Kavita darts through the air from Pidove to Pidove, sending the odd bird squawking away or crashing forcefully into the sand, but at Watts' roaring dispersal of the remaining flock, she lands with a grunt, brushing the sand from her feathers.

Beau regards the Boltund with raised eyebrows, impressed. "Whoa, nice moves," he comments, before turning his attention to the other trainer. "Good to meet you, Jack!" he grins broadly, accepting the proffered hand and offering a firm shake. "I'm Beau!" he proclaims, beaming broadly, as though that's all there is to know about him.

His smile falters slightly as he glances over the other man's shoulder, toward the wreckage of junk and detritus whipped up by the Flying-type pokemon and the sudden evacuation of the other beachgoers. "Aw, man," he mutters, thumping his stick into the sand. "Now it's an even bigger mess than it was!"

A rather...heftily proportioned gentleman is sprawled facedown on the massage table in the alcove Beau was ushered into, out like a light and snoring gently. The younger man, for his part, lifts his Eevee off the floor and gingerly places him on the sleeping man's wide expanse of a back, ruffling the small pokemon's head affectionately. "Okay, brah, get to work!"

The Eevee doesn't move.

Frowning in consternation, Beau rubs his chin thoughtfully, at length snapping his fingers - got it! He withdraws a small treat from his pocket, waving it tantalizingly in front of the Eevee's nose. At this, the little pokemon perks up noticeably, bounding toward the treat, which Beau darts just out of reach.

The Eevee utters a peeved scoff, jumping after it again, his paws kneading into the dozing man's stiff back. Beau grins victoriously, darting around the table in circles and leading the Eevee in a merry, massaging chase along the man's back. It seems this HELPING HAND would have to be coerced, but any port in a storm!

Beau's good mood is marginally dampened by the sudden clamor of nearby picnickers, forcibly tearing his gaze from the other man only to observe...a freak Pidove tornado.

"You gotta be kidding me," he mutters, sliding his sunglasses down the bridge of his nose as he peers over them with rapt interest in the whirling vortex of sand and refuse. "And here I thought seagulls were annoying."

Chaos runs back and forth around Beau's feet, barking madly at the development, but Beau nudges him back with the side of his foot, causing the Snubbull to grumble angrily. "No, little brah, you can't fly. Let's give 'em a taste of their own medicine, yeah?" Beau unclips a pokeball from his belt and tosses it to the sand lazily. It bursts in a spray of crimson light, revealing a Blaziken who takes only a moment to survey her surroundings before facing the vortex, dropping into a combat stance.

"Alright, Kavita, teach these birdbrains some manners!" The Blaziken offers a nod of assent before leaping forward, launching herself high into the air and wheeling around with one flame-wreathed leg to deliver a blistering BLAZE KICK to the first Pidove she encounters, sending it careening wildly into the surf below.

"What a mess!" Beau remarks, eyeing the other man sidelong as Kavita gets to work. "Say, that pup of yours looks like he's got some static to him. How's his aim?"

Chaos the Snubbull happens to love the beach. The warmth does wonders for his old bones, and the salt air has him constantly sniffing for the next source of entertainment. What he does not love about the beach, however, are the numerous items that punctuate its otherwise golden sands with, well...garbage.

He bounds along the beach, darting this way and that, as a particularly offensive odor catches his nostrils. He darts ahead with surprising speed for his age, zipping between Jack's legs and skidding to a halt before the same half-buried item the other man had been making a beeline toward. With a wheezing bark, he tips forward, snorting and snuffling as he digs through the sand before unearthing a half-eaten sandwich, still in its plastic wrapper.

"Ew, brah, get that out of your mouth, you don't know where it's been!" The Snubbull obligingly spits out the sandwich with a 'bleh', running a quick circle in place as Beau ambles up, sunglasses firmly in place. He spears the offending sandwich with what appears to be a nail attached to an old broomstick, depositing the refuse into the large plastic bucket he carries in his other hand.

His eyebrows go up behind his sunglasses in surprise as he catches sight of Jack and the other two pokemon currently engaged in accruing a little environmental good karma, and a grin spreads across his face. "Oh, hey!" he lifts his chin in greeting. "Tourists, am I right?" he asks with a laugh, lifting his bucket slightly to reference the collected trash.

A flailing pink Alomomola floats up toward the returning Torben, offering a glowing Heal Pulse that has the Pangoro standing a little straighter and regarding the Water-type with a curious frown. Beau, his eyes not leaving Klaus' for a moment, tosses a pokéball without looking, capturing the fish in a spray of crimson light. Now was NOT THE TIME.

The only thing Beau prides himself on more than his bench press record is his critical thinking ability. He's dealt with troublemakers before - running folks out of his aunt's shop when they tried to nick one of her trinkets, sure, and a long few years bouncing too-rowdy or too-arrogant drunkards from that dive bar he worked at in Slateport.

Said critical thinking ability is in full swing, and while to most onlookers it would seem to be the procedural equivalent of a candle instead of the proverbial light bulb, Beau knows differently. Beau can see the connections where others could only wonder in awe. Sure, this kid is suspicious, but this seals the deal. When you're in trouble, you talk about what you did to get yourself in trouble to throw off suspicion. It's reverse psychology.

Fortunately for Beau, one of the papers he wrote for that elective Psych 101 course his final year of college dealt with the groundbreaking and - in his opinion - highly understudied topic of REVERSE-reverse psychology. He has this kid right where he wants him, and no more crime's gonna get done today!

Internally, his mind was a blur of motion. Externally, his eyes go glassy for a long few seconds as he processes all of this information before he shakes his head as though to clear it, meeting Klaus' defiance with a steely glare of his own. "Y'know what, yeah, I am!"

With no further warning than that, his hands occupy themselves with squeezing into Klaus' comparatively much smaller pockets, feeling around for evidence of the wrongdoing that the younger man has written all over his features.

Beau's furrowed brow doesn't budge an inch, as though one could almost smell the smoke from the gears in his head turning hard enough trying to keep up. "Do what with Torben?" he inquires, too slow to react before the other man's Shroomish is loose between the two wild Pangoro.

Torben, for his part, spies the Grass-type immediately. His slitted eyes widen in surprise and he scrambles back with almost comical speed to escape the cloud of pollen that bursts into the air at Conrad's command. Good enough, it seems, as the two wild pokémon slip slowly into slumber while Torben shoots a scandalized look at his Trainer.

"Oh, privacy, yeah!" Beau agrees enthusiastically, snapping his fingers. "Why didn't I think of that? I know I'd have trouble with an audience." He frowns, contemplating this new development. "At least without a drink or two, I guess."

A scuffle interrupts his already-interrupted train of thought, and he turns his head to peer at Torben, who's crouched and lifted one of the unconscious Pangoro, arm slung around his shoulder as he waddles the limp pokémon over to the shed. "Brah, what are you doing? You gotta be careful!"

Torben glances over his shoulder briefly, scoffing so derisively that nothing could possibly be in question regarding its meaning, before he continues shuffling to the shed.

Ahab the Poliwrath is clearly not expecting retribution, and Lyra's THUNDER WAVE jolts through him with an almost lazy current of electricity, sparking in the water around him. Stiffening, he falls sideways from his perch and into the shallows with a choked cry.

Nemo, for his part, redoubles his efforts, though hazards from one pokémon are still fewer than hazards from two. The Swampert fires jet after jet of water, one missing Talia's moving form by the barest of margins, and, after a moment of careful aim, one smacking square into the planks of the bridge several feet behind Talia, sending the entire assemblage swaying crazily from side to side.

He's pretty sure the Gym Leader Rulebook doesn't have a provision for rallying challengers to actually get through a Gym Challenge with as much ease as possible. Then again, Beau isn't exactly dealing in poison darts and spike traps. Nevertheless, he can't quite help a delighted "Ooh." from escaping as he witnesses Urania create a Tailwind - not enough to harm his overeager Dewpider, but certainly enough to keep a path dry before Mars' ascent, clear water trickling down either side of the wind current without further drenching the wall ahead of his challenger.

Beau doesn't think he can really add any more insight to this particular conversation, given the other man has managed to neutralize the difficult portion of this particular challenge, so he wisely remains silent. His Dewpider, on the other hand, offers an affronted sound not unlike blowing a wet raspberry, redoubling its efforts with an almost hilarious quantity of water rushing down the wall - but none of it manages to encroach on the path of Urania's Tailwind.

Beau grins as Lars begins his ascent, though his attention is fixed on Ro the Metagross taking to the skies with remarkably little trouble for a half-ton of metal. Though he's not really surprised in the least, the Gym Leader is nonetheless pleased to see the first hoop dodged through, then the second, with a level of both aerobic cunning and timeliness that has him nodding in satisfaction, rooting for the larger pokémon's success.

His gaze turns to Lars, watching the other man scale the wall. It may have been some time since his challenger had done something similar to this particular task, but it didn't appear that he was going to have too much trouble with it in the slightest. Well...

He bites his lip to keep from calling out a warning as Lars' hand closes on one of the grippy outcroppings, and the lump of would-be stone dissolves into sand under his touch, crumbling down the wall and proving to be no handhold at all. "Watch your balance!" Beau quips encouragingly. Nah, the other man's got this.

Beau offers a jaunty two-fingered wave as the Arcanine and Vileplume materialize, noting well the utter confidence the other man carries himself with, but belying nothing with his wide grin. He does enjoy a good brawl now and then, and it seems Adrian's going to put up a tougher fight than most.

The sudden influx of lush grass beneath his feet does little to dampen his spirits, but Nemo the Swampert utters a discomfited grumble. As the sunlight intensifies, Beau merely lifts a hand to shade his eyes almost comically, a low rumble of laughter escaping him. "Whoa, brahs, he rolled out the green carpet for you - might as well give those two the ol' Dewford welcome!"

Nemo, for his part, drops into a crouch and immediately orients on Howitzer, jaws opening wide to loose an oscillating WATER PULSE that breaks the stillness with a shrill, high-pitched ringing. The aquatic blast is lesser than it could have been, the oppressive sunlight weakening the power of Nemo's attack, but the potential damage isn't really what Beau's banking on, in this instance.

Torben, by contrast, lunges forward with a speed belying his size, paws curled into massive fists that unleash a BULLET PUNCH barrage on Rover, battering into the Grass-type pokémon.

While Beau can appreciate the value of a good set-up - and despite its effects already putting Nemo on the back foot - he's never been one for circuitous combat, preferring to immediately get into the thick of it. He grins, the familiar thrill of the fight rushing through him as he awaits his opponent's next move.

Beau squints down at his egg as he puts the fine details on his egg, tongue sticking out of the corner of his mouth in concentration. Behind him, his Pangoro, Torben looms as per usual, glancing down with stoic regard for what's surely another of Beau's half-brained antics.

"That lady at the gate bet me I couldn't draw the world on an egg," Beau explains, rotating his egg as he dips his brush in green paint and slowly, methodically - and unusually, for him - draws a straight line sloping along the curve of the shell. "But I'll show her, cause she ain't met Beau Fontaine!"

Setting down his brush, he lifts his egg to display to Torben, whose jaw drops, his chewing stalk falling out to hit the ground.
