Trudging to their apartment, Nenet's brow furrows as the door is unlocked and they let themselves in. She winces subtly at the turn of the lock, an audible reminder of their recent shared hell, before she pushes herself to move into the bathroom to turn on the water.

She freezes there as the sound of the water slaps against the tiles, memories unbidden of their forced showers in the prison coming to a head. She's soon out of the room as she waits for the water to heat up.

While opening her closet, she watches Zev wordlessly as he stares at his ring. "Zev," she calls softly to gain his attention.

"Come on."
[break][break]
She tips her chin towards the bathroom where steam as has begun to wisp out of the open door.

Her fingers tapping over the terminal's keyboard, Nenet pens a report while the telescope takes photo after photo of their latest endeavour to image the night sky. She does not look up immediately at the sound of her name, the sentence she's working on first finished before looking up.

Blanking her screen, Nenet stands to greet her visitor; hands folding together, her lips purse before she asks, "How can I help you?"

A wry smile is offered to Freya as she moves to set the telescope, assuring quietly, "You'll be a professional by the time I'm done."

As she adjusts the lenses and angle, she then adds, "I didn't find the little Poipole alone. One of the university's graduate students came along - Naomi Sato. I'm not much for field research - having her there was a tremendous help."

I'm not much of a trainer.

"Now," Nenet says again, changing the subject. "We're going to see a binary star system." The telescope moved into place, she motions for Freya to look into the eyepiece.

Nenet flashes a wry grin. Her hand reaching out to lightly pat the side of the coffee maker, she assures Elisa, "Coffee got me through graduate school. Give me beans and a heat source and I'll get coffee out of them."

She then hums softly at the following question; not immediately answering, she watches the coffee pot finish brewing as she pours the heated water into Elisa's mug.

"No," Nenet finally answers, the word drawn out with thought. Her own mug now filled with coffee, a sort of tepid brown drown out by the accompanying sweetness, the coffee is held between herself and Elisa as she lightly blows on it.

"My marriage to Zev Harcourt places my career in a precarious situation," she settles on. "Someone attacked me - thought very hard about killing me - on the resurfaced island on Route 105. As far as I was aware the Rangers were there to study the newly emerged landscape but I was foist into the fighting despite my best effort."

Taking a sip of her coffee, her gold eyes piece into Elisa as she gauges the woman's stature and height. Likely not them.

"I would rather be safe than dead."

Nenet's eyes narrow fleetingly at Zev. "Are you alright," she hazards slowly, the hairs on the back of her neck prickling for no reason that she can immediately discern.

"I need to shower," she finally repeats with a shake of her head. If he wasn't alright he would be soon enough.

They both would be, they just needed some time. Her hand extending to his and she tips her chin towards the mouth of the alley. "Let's go home, I'm tired."

"I would say take an analgesic but honestly I don't know how your liver's doing right now so maybe don't." Nonetheless, she scribbles down Cillian's words for her inevitable write-up. She does not look up at his comment about seeing a doctor after all, merely arches her eyebrow.

They stepped through the rift and a deafening silence engulfed the couple. Above the reds and golds of the sky obscure the time - was it morning or an incoming night?

The Golden Hour.

Somehow the unknown felt appropriate.

Truly alone with Zev, finally, for the first time in what felt like years, Nenet rips off her mask at a sudden fit of claustrophobia; its oppressive presence looms large in her consciousness. They're close to the apartment, just a few blocks away, currently tucked away from the public in the shadows.

Nenet opens her mouth to speak, her gaze dropping to look at the mask still clutched in her hands to Zev's face. What was there to say?

She was so tired. She was hungry. She wanted... What did she want?

"I want a shower," is what finally comes out of her mouth.

"We'll have to make a list - be methodical," Nenet muses, her head nodding subtly at Zev's reassurances. She nonetheless exhales softly, an undercurrent of disappointment touching her expression before she rallies and tips her chin towards Necrozma once more.

"Let's do some manoeuvrers for the video and see how long until Necrozma can keep this form. Then we can go home to review and I'll make notes."

A half-smile touching her lips, her weight shifts as she stands again and crosses her arms. They had work to do and many more disappointments to overcome in the pursuit of knowledge. But those disappointments would break - she knew - into understanding.

Nenet nods faintly at Lulu's words, her expression distant in thought. It was true, Lunala likely would not come racing back to Rocket with Necrozma on their side, much less be willing to work with her to satisfy her curiosity.

Nenet sighs audibly - though as to what though it could be any of her current frustrations: Cillian's persistence in killing himself or his flippancy.

She begins to speak once more though silences as her eyes look sharply over his features. "Cillian," she prompts, only for him to finally snarl out for the antidote. Moving purposefully in response, the syringe is attached and the Antidote pushed steadily into the Underboss's veins.

Her hand still gripping his forearm from removing the syringe, she asks slowly and pointedly, "Do you need a doctor?"

Nenet glances askance to Freya at the request, though does not immediately answer; dispassionately she presses the call button for the elevator after tapping in a code on the pad. Once finished, she looks to Freya once more and finally answers with the ding of the elevator doors opening.

"I can look into our archives," is what she says. Nothing firm one way or another - a test of her own in a way. Wordlessly she ushers Freya into the elevator and presses another button.

"I have." Nenet folds her hands in front of herself as she smiles. "The Ultra Sea and the Ultra Crater. Both were... Illuminating as to our lack of knowledge and the hostilities faced during field research." She gives a wink, playful, as her low laugh fills the space of the elevator's confines.

"This one is from the Ultra Sea," she adds, her hands unfolding to lightly take the Poipole's little hand - it giggles, high and bright. Utterly alien.
