Sparks flew through the air as Celesteela weathered the Z-Move. The Ultra Beast gave a hapless judder after its scream, its body noticeably scratched and dented in the wake of the attack; iron vines snake out from the Celesteela's arms which plant into the ground as it Ingrains itself into the landscape, attempting to recover some of its energy.

Gasping, Nenet covered her head with her arms to protect herself from flying black shards, and for a fleeting moment she was convinced Necrozma had somehow shattered in the attack. She looks wildly to Zev. Discovering her husband was unharmed, she finally registers the lunar soil is to blame for her panic.

Heal Lunala? Teeth grit, Nenet gives a determined nod and slings her pack off her shoulders to dig through it. She comes up with her Lunatone. The Illuma Pokemon burst from its shell, illuminating the surroundings with a soft violet glow across its pale body.

"Moonlight," Nenet whispers before turning her attention to Lunala.
[break][break]
Gathering her voice, she pleads with the vampyr. "Necrozma won't hurt you! Look! It's still - you're safe." The moonlight intensifies and Lunala seems to falter for a bare moment in confusion as it finds its wounds healing. "We want to help." Study was more like it, but still, it's not enough to convince the Legendary.

Shrieking once more, a violent MOONBLAST tears through the sky towards Zev and the Shard of Necrozma.

There was a moment of stillness in which everything and nothing became one. Lunala spreads its battered wings, its rippling blues and purples the same as the storm-ridden sky, and then it screams.

Detonating like a nuclear bomb, Lunala Ultra Bursts and the sky bleeds around them in oranges and reds; the rain threatening to burst earlier explodes in fiery fallout.

There's no time to confer with one another - only seconds in which to trust both Zev and Nenet have one another's backs. Reaching out, she jerks Zev diagonally to Lunala's attack in an effort to move themselves out of the blast range while Celesteela moves to intercept. The Ultra Beast lifts its mighty arms to take the brunt of the attack, covering its trainer and Zev.

"How do we calm it?" Nenet calls to Zev, hoping for an answer amidst the chaos.

A barely-there narrowing of her eyes signifies Nenet is listening. She understood on some level why Cillian had done what he'd done - it was practical after all - but that hardly meant she appreciated the effort.

"I am not ashamed of my research," she answers levelly. Concern about her ability to continue in the public sphere was a wholly different animal, however.

Her interest was piqued though not discernibly at Cillian's mention of his own background. "Risks in regards to what," she finally asks, her curiosity winning out in place of caution. "What are you testing it on?" Her hands still in her lap as she looks over Cillian pointedly, from head to toe, as if assessing his question's merit.

"Most, not all, of my studies centred around Lunatone and Solrock resistances." There hadn't been much of a resistance at the end of the day but the ability of a Corrosive Pokemon had been something fascinating to behold.

Nenet barely recognised the organic matter even as Gideon pointed it out. Well, he could see to that himself. Instead she collected the soil samples and capped off each glass vial before dutifully tucking it back into the bag for safekeeping.

Nearby she could see one of the.. islands of land? pieces? shifting subtly, and she watched as a few clumps of dirt fell into the abyss around them. As if it wasn't ominous enough, she could not make out a distinct sound of the dirt hitting anything at all. Was it still falling?

The air grew heavy as the worked together, a tense silence befalling the area. Beginning to speak once more, Nenet's eyes widen as she catches sight of what appears to be two glowing red eyes watching them from the distance.

"Gideon-" she mumbles, silencing abruptly.
[break][break]
The ground shakes with some sort of reverberation from deep within the realm. Were they being watched, or was it all a coincidence?

Heart in her throat, she slings the soil samples into the back of the jeep and calls, "I'm done, let's go!"

Zev seemed to recognise one of the other captors but what caught Nenet's attention instead was the warden relieving them from work. Her brow furrowed at once again hearing of the Never-Rot. Was that in connection to the Toxic Chains binding them, or something wholly else that these Pokemon seemed to answer to?

Interrupting her thoughts, she looks towards the screen flickering to life. Her eyebrow arches subtly at the violence that plays out above them, her head nodding in agreement as Zev murmurs in her ear.

A martyr and the self-deluded vie for some sort of moral relief on their consciousness and Nenet hopes they get exactly what they desire. Let them suffer - better yet die - for their misplaced convictions and desperation.

It's time to vote, however, and as Nenet opens her mouth to speak she pauses. Was that jack wainwright's voice coming through the screen? Humming softly, he hesitates for a moment, and then calls clearly, "Weakling ward."

A subtle twist of emotion makes it way onto Nenet's expression, though otherwise she remains icy and rigid; Cillian had no reason to dig so deeply into her background, he simply had.

"Ah," Nenet muses absently as the tie is pulled away and she begins working on the shirt's buttons. "I took a few videos and conducted a few tests for the poisoned Pokémon."

Chancing a look to Zev's face, she takes note of his annoyance and weighs her next words before answering. "He was certainly a pain when he accompanied me in Area Zero. We lost the Gouging Flame I'd been tracking all day due to his incessant chatter."

Her attention shifts as she pries away the last button and her hands move to caress over Zev's shoulders to draw the shirt away.

"He asked about our marriage," she says offhandedly, as if she doesn't know Zev will hit the roof with the information.

If Nenet were pressed she could have possibly supplied a name for one of Rocket's more infamous Underbosses; but as it was the woman was neither known in the Astrobiology and Physics circles that Nenet herself ran in and she kept up very little with news that wasn't immanently relevant to her.

Her disinterest in learning her superiors in Rocket could be considered palpable.

"Hmm," she muses aloud, her eyebrow arching with curiosity. "I never got around to looking into the crystablooms. I'm certain that turned out fascinating."

Nonetheless she looks grateful at Elisabeth agreeing to help. Quirking her mouth into a half-smile, she answers in turn, "Zev's blood."

Nenet's fingers twitch back from Zev's neck as the Toxic Chain there pulses, and her own does in turn, momentarily taking her breath away. The next thing she registers is a piece of mochi pushed into her hands and Zev's before the Megalopolan moves to the next cell.

She can feel Zev gathering himself for a fight, and her free hand moves to steady him wordlessly - she cannot speak before a commotion breaks out and Fezandipiti quells the rebellion with a swift and merciless slice to the prisoner's neck.

Nenet pales. This isn't how she intends to die.
[break][break]
Looking to Zev, her voice hoarse and barely audible, she whispers to him, "Just watch." Her eyes hold his as she places the mochi into her mouth and chews - she's never hated the taste of peach quite so much as she does in this moment. "We need to wait until we've seen more - we're operating blind otherwise. Trust me. Please."

They needed to get out of this - and they needed to get out of this together.

Squeezing his hand, Nenet then moves to go and polish the tera crystals in the centre of the room. Her hands shake as she works and patiently observes their prison.

"I'm fine," Nenet answers; her hand takes his and she staggers to her feet. "Just a bit thirsty." Sitting on the cot with the help of her husband, her head tilts his way as he continues to speak.

Unseen her brow furrows as their situation is described, and she murmurs quietly, "So are we." Her hand lifts to touch the chain around her neck, and then she turns her head to better examine the chain around Zev.

"You're sure it's the chain," she asks as her hands lift to lightly feel around where the chain touches his skin; she lightly taps the temple of the mask adorning Zev's face as well to emphasise her point. She nonetheless nods, grateful for the quietness of his confession. No one else needed to know his Avatarship was incapacitated.

Falling silent, she looks towards the bars of their cage and murmurs pensively, "There must be a way out."

They just needed some time to think.

Nenet winced in pain as she woke. Her head felt heavy - far heavier than it should - and fuzzy with cotton as she peeled open her eyes. That wasn't right. Slowly, carefully, she lifts a hand to feel along the outline of the mask adorning her face, and then the slight constriction encircling her neck.

She does her best not to panic.

Before her thoughts can skitter too far along an intimately familiar voice bellows with rage nearby, threatening anyone and everyone around them.

"Zev," Nenet calls hoarsely as she pushes herself up into a seated position, not trusting her legs right now. "Stop yelling."

Shifting her weight forwards, she takes stock of herself and her surroundings.
[break][break]
It didn't seem to be good.
[break][break]
"Do you know where we are," she asks her husband after a beat of silence. He had clearly been awake longer than her, but by how much was unknown at the moment.

Halfway through her skincare routine she can hear Zev enter the apartment and the air seems to palpably grow oppressive. Her eyebrow arches minutely, and she muses he must be in a bad mood. Replacing the lid on the creme, she wipes off her hands and exits the bathroom as Zev enters the bedroom.

Clad in little more than a gauzy nightgown, Nenet hums softly as she observes her husband and asks as she moves to stand before him, "Bad day?"

Her hands catch his and gently pull them away from his neck; she methodically begins to undress him, her hands smoothing the fabric of his shoulders first and then moving to slowly remove his tie.

"I didn't think I would see you until next week."
