After a good bit of backtracking, going through the Runerigus' room, Ashley continues to follow, watching the Wyrdeer utilize its psychic capabilities. The only Pokemon he could match was Sushi, and well... Sushi was about as psychic as a psychic scammer. This Wyrdeer, Prance? Yeah, he had the psychic touch.

Now going up the stairs, the duo would find themselves faced with a tunnel of spikes. And Shalin once again seemed to lead the charge, which Ashley had to admit, was nice. Sure, the hell tunnel was again trying to kill them, but Ashley takes it in stride, doing as suggested, as he, Bongo, and Bullet all seem to march in place on after the spikes behind her. That was annoying... but it was done!

Smart. But now, as they entered a new room, Torkoal were in the area... and another Klefki. Which meant, it was time to befriend. Ashley nods to the whispering Shalin, hands in his pocket, as he holds his arm up, Bullet at the ready. Thing was, Klefki weren't the type to chase berries. Instead, they preferred more mineral-rich items. It wasn't perfect, but Ashley would sacrifice one of his spare Pokeballs. If the majority is made in corporations and not apricorns, the natural minerals might attract the Klefki. With a whisper, he hands the smaller ball towards the bird, and explains very carefully. "Hold it out, don't give it up. Have the Klefki come this way. Got it?"

The Starly nods, and flies up with the berry between her beak, as she begins flapping her wings near. While the bird was used to lure the Klefki back to him, Bongo was immediately the translator.

"Tell it we have more if it helps us out, Bongo." The chimp salutes, awaiting the Klefki to approach with the Starly luring it down to them.

Things had been more lively lately. Ever since he found that Nidorino in the dumpster outside his apartment, it was one after another. A Rotom who took his phone, and of course the gift. The other Grookey.

Sitting on his shoulders, two very similar chimps would be speaking in chimplish. Bongo, his trusted friend of many a year, who was talking up a storm to the new girl, a shiny Grookey he named Conga. Conga and Bongo. And ever since they had come in, it had been more or less nightmarish. At first, anyways. Ashley was at least crafty.

After attaching monkey bars over the top of the apartment, not only did the two chimps love their addition, but even Bullet liked perching. Sure, he wouldn't get his deposit back after Conga and Bongo started a fire, but if he wasn't, they'd just deal with there now being a whole thing of monkey bars.

As Ashley moves to pet the other of the trio coming with, the pink quadrapedal beast looked up towards Ash and gave a squint.

The chimps were talking shop.

Ashley holds his watch out. "Alright. He should be here. Soon. We got a mission today, ladies and gents. Let's find that Pichu."

One high-five for Conga, one for Bongo, and a poison point to the palm for Reinhardt. All he needed now, was Isaac! And... a bandage. For his hand. That was bleeding a little. Reinhardt looks apologetic, and Ashley waves it off. He'd be okay. Probably.

Carve a path through hell? In other words, if Ashley ever peeves this woman off, he's likely to find a one way ticket there himself. Not only was Ash pretty ecstatic to hear that honestly. So when Isaac asked if it were intense, he merely waved it off. "Nah. Pretty apt." But then, unlikely could anything piss off Ash.

The affirmation Isaac gave did leave a better taste in his mouth than he started. He'd find it. Yeah. That was probably true. Didn't stop the dry spell, and really, a dry spell is only that way in the mind.

Still, as the brothers looked at one another with the warm smile, Ashley found it imperative to keep teasing Isaac. "Alright, enough mushy shit, man. Let's go get some food. I'm buying." He points towards the city. "Ever had Alolan cuisine? They have some bomb-ass taco combos."

He could turn back right now. Ashley could walk the hell away from Theo, and never think of him again. But now, even though he knew Rocket was here in some capacity, he could no longer relax. He stood his ground.

That impulse to walk away... he feels it in his heart. He cannot turn back now.

"Bullshit." Silver eyes likes silver bullets, he takes a step forward. "If you don't remember me, that's fine. But I remember you. I guess it was too much to hope that you were dead." He can feel his fists clinching so hard that he could damn near hear the ringing of his heartbeat in his hands alone, if it wasn't already pounding in his ears.

"Why Hoenn?" As if that would make it better. But he didn't care. He needed an answer. Now. Before he made a bad choice.

I can't do it.

Ashley knew it. He couldn't pull it off. He had... weird, mixed feelings unearthed from the pit of his heart. Jayden looked terrible, standing like a demon from his perch above. A paralysis demon would be a mercy, but this one was bonafide and in the flesh. The demon of regret. He speaks exactly like a recurring nightmare Ash had woken from time and time again. Is this what all the suffering he incured led to? He realizes he didn't save Jayden, because the man that stood before him was beyond that. As his chill and rigor prepares Ashley's nigh arrhythmic heart, he looks at Jayden with shaken resolve.

Jayden's out to kill. Which means it's that same feeling from years ago. Him or me. He contemplates resigning to fate.

When the Will-O-Wisp fires, he looks to Sushi. "GO." Ashley chases up towards Jayden, throwing another Pokeball out as the duo run up the stairs. With the flight of the bird, Bullet takes the scene as Ashley closes tries to close the distance. "Bullet!" He feels the Will-O-Wisp burn his arm, as he protects Sushi, his shirt burning as he can feel the fire scorch him. "Window!" The bird, panicked, attempts to WHIRLWIND Jayden out the window. He could only hope it worked.

His arm burned, but to protect his family, he would let the burns hit him over Sushi. His body already hated him, but this was penance. He deserved it. He keeps running up the stairs towards Jayden. His heart is beating so hard, he doesn't know how it will end.

Ashley regrets that feeling of jealous, because when Isaac speaks of this girl, it's exactly what he always wanted. He didn't know how to put it into words though. Isaac just captured them effortlessly. Somehow, he fell ass backwards into the heart of a woman who seemed to take such a shine. So when Isaac requests it, Ashley says it out bluntly. "Isaac? My guy? If you fuck it up, you are the dumbest guy on the face of the planet, alive AND dead." Schrodinger's Idiot.

To ease the guy down though, he would shake his head. "Don't worry, man. How could you fuck it up? You're Isaac Merlo. The fuck up is the one who falls on his face and gets the girl to laugh so happily. If you did... she'd love you more." Right from the heart. "... I want that." Genuine.

You don't deserve it, Ash. That's right... he'd probably sabotage himself. Just like with jayden cross .

With a breath in, and a breath out, Ash decides to get off the grass, and stand up, staring up at the sky. He can feel the wind on his skin. "Tomorrow then. After I go see a friend at the store." Without realizing it, Ashley's Pokemon had all flocked back. Some with more food than they had originally.

"Rocket or not. You're the best friend I've had in a long time. Never forget that, Isaac." A warm smile can light up the night.

If he had drunk coffee, he would be giving a spit take. "Wow, my junior's got game." He was snickering now, even as his arm got punched in the shoulder. Hearing this ball of sunshine have a good head on her shoulder though? That gave Ash more than enough reason to smile. Even if Isaac should throttle him. Joking aside, of course.

Having someone in his corner? A huge relief. "After my time in Rocket, that sounds pretty nice, actually."

...

This was the first time he just chilled. No need to say much to anything. Just enjoying the other's company. It lasted like that, for Ash at least, for a moment's time. He could probably fall asleep with how peaceful it was... twenty or so years of going home-to-home made him really enjoy the quiescence of this the world. Even though Rocket was here in Hoenn, at least he could enjoy some peace.

Right...?

He opens his eyes. "... wanna help me find a Pichu sometime?" He offers, a hope to go find one at some point. She would be happy about that.

These really were hitting hard, and aside from Mint getting them both a third, he could tell Mint was a bit tipsy. He couldn't stop Mint from downing another. Ashley just liked his company. As he downs his third, he finally responds.

"Tell you what... I intend to get me a salon at some point in my life. When it's up, come over. I'll see if Canoli doesn't mind a little pampering. On the house for being too cute for prison." He gives a wink. His inhibitions are floating away from each shot, and as he leans back a little, he puffs out his chest just a bit. Maybe Mint likes a little muscle showing?

Dammit, the drinks are supposed to help him not be so in his head.

He has to comment though. "You're a prolific kinda cute, huh?" He smiles wide, showing his teeth as he orders the fourth shot finally, the aftertaste finally going away. "Really, I envy that. I try to stay on the cop's good side, but I just look like a troublemaker to them. That's profilin' for ya."

When the fourth shot comes, he can already feel himself tipping over. He would smile. "Hehehe. Yeesh... these really do hit hard."

Impatience seemed to hit Ashley, as he tapped his foot. Pulse continued to sound off the time every minute, happy with the idea to notify the man with a time, but each time a minute passes, he feels himself growing a little more hungry. Sure, the green apple lollipop was nice, but candy isn't as filling as food. Eventually, he sighs, deflates, and looks to Pulse. He sees one message, one minute before they were to meet up.

He cancels. He rolls his eyes. Great.

His eyes, however, landed on something much more fascinating. His silver eyes spotted two; a familiar and a not-so-familiar.

The familiar was a blonde, a man that he considered a close friend, an amigo, and a good guy, but the other? Kinda cute. Ashley's lips part for just a moment. A Combusken, and a Raboot together with them, not Isaac's. Huh... neat! He walks right up to the party of four.

"Hey Isaac. Friend of yours?" He says in his huskier voice, hands now in his pockets. The green apple lollipop sits comfortably in his mouth, and he looks over them both, the Rotom sounding out the small chiptune behind them.

Any friend of Isaac's would easily be a friend of his!
