Mist clings to the desert. There should be no mist in the desert. Everything here thirsts. The ground longs for water. Creatures moving across its terrain seek out water. Many die for the stuff. All the same, there is mist. As the young girl treks across the desert, Regirock sees her. Its many orange eyes turn upon her, suddenly glowing with renewed purpose. Its footsteps shake the earth. This manmade godkiller has decided Eris Halla is her enemy.[break][break]
Alone, it would be an impossible fight. She does not fight alone. Standing on a high rock, perched like a guardian angel, stands a man. In his left hand is a sword, a blade of promised victory. By his will, the blade begins to twist. Soon, it seems less a sword and more a long, glowing blue arrow. What a strange power. In his other hand, he conjures a bow. He takes aim…[break][break]
The arrow hits the titanic monolith with the force of an aura sphere, making it recoil and take a step back. Eris’s phantom helper doesn’t know Regirock’s storied history, but he doesn’t need to. Anything can be taken down. A hero returns to slay giants.

Either way, it doesn’t matter. Navy picks up his bread, eats it and sees what Josh means. It’s good food. Very good. Just now, he finds it hard to have an appetite, but he eats for appearances and to keep Hattori happy.[break][break]
“Sorry ‘bout your loss, and that you had to be the one to pay the price for figuring that out. The League owes you a debt that it can never repay.” He’s said that a lot, to many people, and he’ll keep on repeating the words. “Sometime next year, I’m gonna organize another gym jam. When Ripper strikes, Navy feels the blow. His smile falters as he feels Arthur’s surging emotions. Here at the last, he realizes that one of them will soon fall. The world wobbles. Ripper and Arthur both reach the same conclusion, surging through Navy’s soul. Two bodies inhale. One rushes forward. His fists fly. He tries to drain punch Ripper, siphon energy, return himself to good health.[break][break]
His world swims. Navy feels Arthur’s consciousness begin to slip. It’s like a coin is spinning. Every eye is fixated on it, spinning along an axis that will spell victory for one man and defeat for the other. Thomas makes good on his promise as fists fly from both parties. Arthur’s defiant cry is cut short by one last fist, which sends him sprawling.[break][break]
“Shit, man.” Navy recoils just as his dragon does, the two mirroring one another. He digs his feet into the pitch, stopping himself and deactivating the sync stone. Arthur is pulled back into his pokeball and the sheriff smiles.[break][break]
“You two make one hell of a pair.”

Just how many enemies had FERNANDO SILPH made with his point? It was meant for the League, that much he’ll give Fernando. Andrea was affiliated with the League by the barest fraction of a thread. Minor League gym leaders hadn’t even been cleared to participate in Gym Jam. These posters spurred her to fight, accused her of sitting on the sidelines…[break][break]
Fernando was right, of course. That’s what made it so infuriating to think about. Rocket will come for them either way. Like he told @yuina, you either take the plunge or fall against your will. Either way, the darkness beneath will rise to greet you.[break][break]
What can he say as he hears the anger in her voice? What condolence can he offer in this zero sum, all or nothing game that men call war? He is the Warrior. This is his craft, his trade, his writ and his warrant. For Andrea…[break][break]

“Silph was wrong to put that idea in your head.” He looks out the window, out at the sky so full of stars that shine through the mist.[break][break]
“Chomper…did you get to bury him? I’ll go to Petalburg and find him if you didn’t.” He does not know the circumstances of the dragon’s death. Petalburg is a fortress, but he speaks the words with certainty.

He’s been here before in another life. A younger man, content to be a street rat striding the thin red line between order and chaos, had many a clandestine meeting in the Lycanroc’s Den. An older man sees it with nostalgic eyes, for it reminds him of somewhere far away, a place he has sworn to put away like a childhood toy. Like so many things from a man’s past, what this place represents is impossible to let go.[break][break]
It seems almost misty, here in the bar. There should be no mist, not in this city. Not at this time of year. It adds a certain ambience that many of the patrons seem to appreciate. Though the bartender showed some concern when he first noticed the mist, he stopped caring once he realized it wasn’t from a gas leak or anything else that would end in the place’s destruction.[break][break]
A phantom appears from nowhere, as phantoms so often do. He sits beside the redhead and says one word.[break][break]
“Mead.”[break][break]
His smile is the smile of a barbarian, a berserker fresh returned from across the sea with a mighty thirst. Golden liquor is poured for him and he drinks it with the same voraciousness he once did when returning to Motostoke from a journey across the wastelands. He turns and sees the woman sitting next to him. In this life, they’re poised to be enemies. It did not have to be so, but the woman she has decided to become and the man he wants to be are fundamentally incompatible, down to the atoms.[break][break]
Even still, he misses her. He misses the woman who presided over the happiest days of his life.[break][break]
“Penny.” He says with far more warmth he’d ever afford her in an AQUA meeting. “Didn’t know this was your scene.”

I could keep you safe from people like Livy.” Though not, he thinks, from an eventual jail sentence. “I’m not gonna try and kill you, but I’ll do everything in my power to arrest you when this kicks off. I could make a good case to Goode and AQUA if you came along willingly.” But she won’t. Rocket needs her as much as the League needs him.
