Seriously? Did the guy just think they would just turn themself in? Seriously that went against the whole villain trope that Rocket had going for them. Didn’t he read any books with villains? When did a villain ever give up so easily. Though they didn’t really see themself as a villain. But it was a scenario that worked since the bad guy never gave in easily to the good guy.

If Josh were to look towards the furtherest corner of the room that was furtherest from the door he would see them sitting on top of a filing cabinet though he definitely hadn’t been sitting there when the gym leader had come into the room.

Use any other move you want,” they told the dual type as they opened one of the drawers to the filing cabinet. They began to look through them but also kept an eye on what was happening with Poseidon and the gym leader.

While his owner was looking through the file cabinet Poseidon was facing off against the guy who dared get in his partners way. Like Sage had asked of him he used double team before the copies and original all began to quickly move around each other to confuse the gym leader about which was the real one, kind of like that cup trick with the marble where you had to find where the marble was. Once he had done that Poseidon would go on the attack once more.

It was interesting that he had two majors. While he hadn’t so much as thought of school since he had been almost killed. Perhaps he could look into teaching himself about that stuff. Or take online classes like absalom steel , but that would require making a fake online identity which probably wouldn’t be that hard.

They could tell from looking at the underboss that his strengths lay in well strength. The type who relied on brute force. Though he didn’t seem dismissive of sneaking around like others he had met had. And by that he meant his parents. Of course they would’ve been opposed to brute force as well. More than likely calling it uncivilized.

That’s not to say that despite his main strength being stealth and subterfuge that he wasn’t strong in his own right. He was developing muscle from all the climbing he did. And had a surprising amount of upper body strength for someone with his frame. Which meant if push came to shove he had a pretty nasty right hook, or left hook considering he was good with both hands.

The males question made gave him pause as he thought of the underbosses question. ”The Elgyem line would be nice, they’re good at relaying information which would be good if you need a Pokémon to scope out a situation. Their evolved form is known for alternating memories as well.”

Having said all that they considered the fact that they had spent a little too much time with absalom steel. He had often told them stuff he had learned about Pokémon from his fathers notes. The teen didn’t say anything in response to her comment the only indication they gave that they had heard her comment was to turn their head towards her. The fact they would have guards didn’t really surprise them. In this day of age not having guards for important items was just asking for trouble. Basically asking for the item to get stolen.

They followed her gaze to see a Corviknight. If it wasn’t for the moonlight they wouldn’t be able to see it. It was only due to the moonlight reflecting off its wing that they were able to see it. Well they supposed that took care of the scouting part of the mission. Now they wouldn’t have to worry about having to do it themself or going in blind.

”The service entrance wouldn’t be the best idea. It would probably be no better than trying to go through the front door,” he said his voice betraying that he was thinking through everything. The easiest assess point would probably be the roof unless they wanted to try climbing through a window. For someone his size that wouldn’t be difficult but it would probably be difficult for someone like the rocket beast.

The security cameras, if they had any, would be the biggest obstacle to overcome. But he knew a camera’s range could only go so far. So if they just stayed out of range of the camera that was one obstacle avoided. Then that just left the guards to contend with.

The guards were the easiest to get around in his opinion though. ”I would use my crobat to fly over the range of the security cameras and go in through the roof. They never close that door. I’ve noticed with all my years of sneaking around that people don’t think to look up. It’s night and despite the moon it’s dark so people wouldn’t expect someone to be flying around,” he told her though that wasn’t the end of it.

Due to always being aware of their surroundings they were aware of her presence so when she had moved towards their mask they had moved to the side to avoid the removal of their mask. She was good they gave her that but they had spent years honing their senses through meditation. As someone who wanted to be a ninja they knew they needed to sharpen all of their senses.

They took in the others appearance noticing that she didn’t look familiar. And that she was also younger than they were. ”I had it specifically made. Needed to stay hidden and what better way than to hide your identity,” they said with a small shrug. They wondered what she would think about that statement. Perhaps she would assume they meant with fellow rockets. If that was the case they would allow her to think that.

Yes they knew it was weird that they didn’t want to become an avatar. But they had had things handed to them their whole life. And becoming an avatar seemed like it would be something that would continue that trend at least to them it was. For once they just wanted something that wasn’t handed to them.

They weren’t stupid and knew one must probably find the legendary to gain its respect and become an avatar. But still to them it was a pretty easy one way to obtain power. And if they were to gain power it’s something they wanted to fight tooth and nail for. There was also that whole messing with nature business. They weren’t about to mention that reason though.

That is if the conversation ever came up again. Bryan seemed content just to let the matter go so they would as well. Silence fell between them only to be broken by a commotion in the cafeteria. They were already moving towards the location reaching the cafeteria just after Bryan did.

He had a point. They definitely wouldn’t claim to know a lot about science themself. But that didn’t mean they were completely lacking in that department. Their parents getting them some of the best tutors money could buy to teach them everything they would have to know among other things.

Though I think that’s more because I’m not fond of math and since math and science often overlap I just wasn’t as interested in science as I could’ve been,” they admitted with a small shrug. Even if they weren’t interested in doing it themself it didn’t mean they didn’t find interest in watching science happen. After all doing and watching were two very different things.

The fact he was a scientist would’ve surprised them if they hadn’t found out he had helped with the serum that turned Kanto Slowpoke into their Galar counterparts. So the whole avatar thing still wasn’t something they understood the appeal of. Of course they had heard of avatars. Anyone who had lived in Hoenn for any amount of time would’ve heard of avatars. People granted powers from legendary Pokémon, or as people liked to call them gods. To them that wasn’t achieving power due to one’s on merit but they had no interest in sharing their views on the matter.

”I do value strength so I’m even more sure I’m making the right decision,” they said smirking slightly. The fact they valued strength was the truth. What they had learned of the world was that the strong survived and the week didn’t. If they wanted to go far in life they would have to be strong. Though they would make themself strong with their own hands.

They didn’t know why but they were a bit suspicious of what nickname their superior might give them. The teen was pretty confident in any alias they could give themselves. They had chosen their own name after all. Of course that wasn’t information they were about to share with their superior.

”I’m pretty confident in my ability to come up with nicknames,” they said with a shrug. The problem would be coming up with one that wasn’t already taken. And they wouldn’t settle for anything less than cool either. They would just have to stir up their creativity to do it.

”Seems like it just wanted to take the easy way out if you ask me,” they said as they trailed after Mint. It was hard to believe such an attack had wrecked such devastation. Did the legend even give any of the Pokémon time to attack or had it just unleashed the attack without giving any of the Pokémon time to attack. Perhaps he would ask more about it later.

As they headed further in the sound of ice crunching under their shoes could be heard. It sounded loud in the previous silence. As they walked their superior spoke up once more. ”Has that happened often?” they inquired wondering how frequently they had checked since the attack had started.

To be honest they weren’t to sure how to react. They weren’t to sure if they were joking or not. Since he didn’t seem to be the type to be full of himself they figured he was. The fact he grinned ride after made them think he was right in thinking he was just joking.

That’s not to say it’s not nice to meet someone willing to lend a helping hand though,” they said after hearing his comment about knowing people. ”I would say I’m the other type myself but that’s more because I’ve always had trouble putting myself out there. Well that was something they doubted. If the world had taught them anything is that people weren’t usually that nice. Of course there was an exception to every rule. But considering the fact it was rocket members they were talking about they had their doubts. And they included themselves in that.

So their objective was to steal research. Seemed like it would be easier than stealing some famous jewels. Having scoped out the place they didn’t really see any security camera’s or anyone standing guard. Perhaps they were confident in their ability to keep any research worth stealing hidden.

’Well we’ll see about that,’ they told themself as they started to make their move. Using the shadows to their advantage they made their way towards the space center. It was night time making it easier to sneak around. It also meant no one else was really out so they didn’t have to worry about anyone who lived on the island city to notice them. That didn’t mean they still weren’t going to be cautious though.

Avoiding the front entrance they looked for another way in. After finding another way in they slipped inside. With less places to hide then they would like they would have to keep their wits about them. Taking a minute to listen they continued on, going over the layout of the building in their mind as they moved through the building.

Reaching the room they had been told about they made quick work of picking the lock before slipping inside. The sound of footsteps coming towards the room they were in reached them and they had to resist the urge to let out a curse. Easing the door of room shut so as to not make noise, they quietly backed away from the door before picking a place to hide.

Their hand touched one of their pokeballs as they waited for whoever it was to reveal themself. After that they would decided rather to send out a Pokémon to deal with whoever was foolish enough to get in the way of rocket business or to personally deal with the person themself.[break] Josh Devlin

Even though their current name was fake they still nodded. After all they had no plans of going back to their old name after they confronted their parents. Their old name had died with their past self. They could look into some of their other aliases though that they could use before they had settled on going by the name they currently used.

”I’ll need to figure out what to use,” they said thinking over different alias ideas. Some of them had come from names of characters they had read in books. Names that were usually out there like North or Striker, names that didn’t normally sound like names you wouldn’t give to a person. Not unless the persons parents were crazy anyway.

They silently followed their superior keeping their senses sharp in case something happened. As they reached the statues they took them in. It was hard to belief something like this could happen. It definitely wasn’t a way they would want to go and they hoped the cause of this had been exterminated. In their eyes this kind of attack was cowardly and they didn’t tolerate cowards.

They pushed the thought to the back of their mind choosing to watch as their superior went about their business. From his reaction they could guess things weren’t going the way he wanted them too. ”Sounds good to me,” they said as they followed after him.

They weren’t sure what to tell them. Maybe that he would be waiting awhile for that to happen. Of course they couldn’t tell him that they were trying to prevent the league from knowing about them. Or more precisely their parents. Right now their parents couldn’t know they were alive.

”If that ever does happen I’ll do that,” they agreed at last. Though when that would be was the question. Probably not until after they had confronted their parents about what they hadn’t done. But it wasn’t something they could do just yet. First they would have to make sure that the planned for any kind of situation when it came to confronting their parents.

The teen still wasn’t sold on luck. Maybe he didn’t want to believe in luck due to the kind of life he had had. Because one could use bad luck as an excuse when it came to his parents. And they didn’t want to being born to parents like theirs was just bad luck. Of course this wasn’t something they wanted to discuss. Especially not to someone they didn’t know to well.

And Howard’s view on love was weird to them. ”If you say so,” they said before they resumed speaking. ”I think you just trust the wrong person if you develop feelings for someone that would do something like that. If someone truly loved you they would support you instead of trying to get ahead themselves.”
