They had been curious about how Kanto slowpoke could be turned into Galarian slowpoke upon hearing about the assignment when they had first joined. ”I expected there to be more science behind the whole thing,” they admitted as they watched the slowpoke start to turn yellow.

They watched for a few more seconds before working to deevolve more slowbro and slowking. As the man spoke they could tell that he too knew what it was like to be betrayed. While a bit curious they saw no point in asking. It wasn’t really their place. And it wasn’t like they had told the underboss everything either. Would it be fair to inquire answers themself when they weren’t willing to be fully truthful themselves. Not that Cillian would know of this since they had given no indication that they were withholding information.

A complete disgrace,” they said their tone neutral despite the contempt in their eyes when it came to traitors. ”I try not to let most things get to me because I don’t want to be controlled by my emotions. That’s when mistakes are made and people get sloppy letting their emotions control them. Hearing her voice they turned their attention to her. ”Thanks. I aspire to be a ninja one day so stealth means a lot to mean,” they told her keeping their voice low. They weren’t sure if there were any other people around that could hear them. They didn’t sense the presence of anyone else though, so they figured they were safe enough.

”Yes we should scout first though to see if we need to watch out for anything. They might have a guard,” he said quietly as he peered in the direction the needed to go to get to the department store. If they were smart they would have a guard posted.

If they did have a guard they would probably be posted at the entrance. That was the easiest way in. And wouldn’t require too much work to get to either. Some people would be brash enough to go that way and go for the guard but they would rather not draw attention to themself if the could help it.

To be honest they weren’t sure what kind of reaction that meant. Perhaps he thought they were too trusting. Well maybe not considering they wore a mask. But it wasn’t like the blue haired youth knew their name was fake. No one in Team Rocket were aware of that. Though they were sure some people suspected that was the case sense they went out of their way to keep their identity hidden.

”Did I come off as formal?” they asked frowning. They tried not to come off that way. Even if manners had been ingrained in them from a young age. Though they weren’t sure why he would have brought up being formal unless that was the case.

Listening to what he had to say they couldn’t help but quirk a brow not that it would be noticeable with the mask that obscured the top half of their face. They had been expecting anyone to make that kind of offer. ”I’ll keep that in mind,” he promised finding himself a bit curious about the older man.

Ideals were one thing rules were another. The league had way too many rules. Most of which had to with what they believed to be right or wrong. He wasn’t the same innocent kid who had blindly followed the league. Nor was he the gentle, kind, and loving boy he had been.

”Yes I can live with that. Team rocket would have my undying loyalty. It’s not something I give lightly,” they told him bowing their head since they couldn’t bow properly sitting down. They hoped he was at least considering their proposition since he wasn’t about to go crawling back to the league.

They considered the question when it was asked of him. Killing wasn’t something they had given much thought of. Aside from the fact they just saw it as something that happened. People died all the time. Death was inevitable.

They were sure they liked the outside for different reasons. The teen had never been much into fossils. No their idea of an outside adventure was climbing a tree higher than most people were comfortable with, exploring new places, and just running around playing. Often sneaking off to do those kind of things with their twin since their parents had been opposed to them being out and about.

Less likely to embarrass them if they weren’t running around. They pushed away such thoughts and listened to what he had to say. ”Traveling around seems like it would’ve been nice. I don’t know about stopping by your house though I don’t take off my mask, so it would kind of make me stand out and if and league member saw me than they would question you about why a masked teenager is visiting you. Best not risk it.”

The teen didn’t see his views about luck as childish. Their views on it had more to do with having spent a little too much time with Axel. Who of which didn’t really believe in luck either. The fact Howard believed in it and was even trying to sale then on the idea was surprising. Considering the man was a professor of sorts and bought into all of it wasn’t what he was expecting.

They shook their head as he went on. ”My friend who could be considered pretty logical says luck is illogical. Then again he also says that about love as well. He was able to sale me on the whole luck thing but not the love thing,” they explained with a small shrug. Now they just tended to believe things happened for a reason.

Hearing him speak they wondered if he had missed what they had said about them not being able to be friends with the younger teen. They were worried that Absalom would be able to figure out it was them even if they did disguise their voice. The younger teen was super smart and was good at figuring things out.

There had to be a way to interact with him though. Maybe if they disguised their handwriting they could pass along the message. Or get someone else to write the note and let it seem like it was someone who had their best interest at heart. When they had been called in by the higher ups they had been expecting another minimal task. Of course that didn’t mean they wouldn’t have given it their all if that was the case. But being given the task of swiping a priceless jewel had fired them up. Not that they really showed it. Their expression gave nothing away as they agreed to the mission. As if they would do anything else.

Their partner was an interesting one. By keeping their ear to the floor they had learned she was one of the Rocket Beast. Which of course made her more important than them. The fact that someone with such a high status in rocket would be accompanying them was definitely a surprise. They had figured they would leave stuff like this to lowly grunts.

It had been agreed to meet right outside of Lilycove so that’s where they were going now. As they walked they stuck to the shadows avoiding other people like they were the plague. They had refined the art of sneaking around and using the shadows to their advantage even before they had gotten betrayed by their parents.

Reaching the meeting point they made sure to keep out of sight in case someone other than their partner happened by. They remained absolutely motionless as they waited for their partner to arrive. The teen worked on releasing another Slowbro the knife they had making it easy and pretty soon the water type was freed from Shellder. He put the Shellder into a bucket while the Slowbro started to transform back into its previous evolution. He moved to work on another one but made sure to keep some of his attention on Cillian, so they could continue conversing.

Telling anyone about their family troubles so soon after joining hadn’t been what they planned. But considering Cillian had taken a chance of them they trusted him more than they did other members of Team Rocket. And they had only told him to explain why they hid their identity. But they still kept some things to themselves like the fact they had a twin.

Cillian probably assumed they were an only child. And if so they would prefer it stay that way. They didn’t care if he knew about their parents but considering the fact they wanted to keep their twin safe it was just best if no one knew they existed. But they realized that it would be hard to keep that hidden now that the underboss knew what they looked like.

When Cillian started speaking they turned their attention to him. ”Not really I can understand why they would be angry at my parents,” they told him apparently not seeing anything wrong with the fact the person had tried to kill him. ”Being betrayed is worse than almost getting killed.”[break] Cillian Quinn

They could tell he wasn’t pleased with his vague response. Talking about what had happened would change what had happened though. Nor did they know how to go about talking about it. It was still too raw for them to be able to open up about it anyway without them being a bit harsh on the facts anyway.

Saying their parents had left them for dead wouldn’t get them the kind of reaction they wanted. If anything it would just make them seem like some kind of charity case. Well maybe not when it came to rocket. But they probably wouldn’t be taken real seriously. And they wanted to be taken seriously.

If that was the case the must be of higher ranking. ”Considering I’m just a lowly grunt I don’t have that privilege. Not that it matters if Rocket needs something done I’ll do it,” they told Bryan as they looked around. Contrary to believe the mask didn’t obscure their vision much, so they wouldn’t have trouble noticing something.

Not to mention the fact that they had been using meditation to start enhancing their other senses. It was good practice in case they couldn’t rely on their eyesight. They had heard stories of people being able to fight in complete darkness. Which was something that interested them.

The mention of immortality had them turning their attention back to Bryan. ”Immortal?” he asked blankly their tone doing nothing to give away what they thought. One would assume they would be a bit skeptical though. After all immortality was something hard to believe.

Sage was debating on rather they should get some meditation in while they waited when the older teen finally arrived. ”Don’t worry about it, I would’ve occupied my time by meditating if you hadn’t arrived when you did,” they told him with a shrug. They knew someone else might be irritated, but he had never had much of a temper.

As the older teen pointed that out they had to resist the urge to cringe. ”Probably not, but Poseidon can use water pulse to help out if he really needs to,” they explained gesturing towards their greninja. The greninja for his part seeming ignored Kouji but turned his attention to Sage when they mentioned his name.

Hearing they’re stated they tilted their head to the side. ”My loyalty is to rocket but I can’t risk my identity being revealed. With how many people have defected from rocket it’s hard for me to trust other rockets with my identity. Call me paranoid if you must, but I like playing it safe. ‘Better safe than sorry’ after all.”

They weren’t sure why sharpening a blade constantly would cause it to become thin. But then again growing up their parents had always just bought a new knife whenever any of the knives had gotten a chip in it. They hadn’t even know someone could sharpen a knife until he had gotten away from his parents but hadn’t hard that sharpening it to much could cause problems.

I preferred playing around outside,” they said before they part about Unova sunk in. ”Is that where you’re originally from?” they asked, wondering what a corner store was. They didn’t want to seem ignorant and ask though so they decided they would look it up later.

Hearing his response he nodded because in a way the younger teen was interesting. ”Yeah, he is,” he agreed before continuing with the conversation. ”I’m sure if he hears of it he’ll attend. Last I heard he was planning of taking on the gyms unsure if he’s started on that. But I’m sure he would make time to check out the lecture,” they commented, knowing that Axel would be interested since he enjoyed learning.

”I never caught his name, my parents may know but I’m not ready to confront them yet,” they explained looking thoughtful. They did remember that apparently the guy was owed money. Being told constantly that kids were to be seen and not heard had often led to them snooping around places they weren’t suppose to be. Which was how they had learned of their father’s gambling problem.

The question made him frown. ”No aside from having money my parents weren’t real important. I know my father had a gambling problem though. Probably refused to pay the wrong person. There was nothing my parents cared more about than money,” they told him making sure to keep what they were telling him somewhat limited.
