So they weren’t exactly sure why they were being made to do this. They had just been reading a book, getting to the good part too, when they were told the submarine needed cleaning and get to it. They wished they would’ve at least waited until they had finished the section they were reading but they hadn’t been given much choice.

They didn’t sigh though. Nor did they complain or roll their eyes not that the other person would’ve been able to know if they did since they had put their mask on when they heard someone knock on their door. But they still thought it prudent to show the higher ups proper ups proper respect. And that meant not rolling their eyes even if it would be hidden.

Making sure the mask the covered the top half of their face was in place they made their way to the submarine with Poseidon, his greninja, trailing after him. At least they wouldn’t have to do it by themself. So hopefully it wouldn’t take too long.

The person who was suppose to help them didn’t seem to have arrived yet so they took the time to assess the submarine. Seeing the condition it was in they couldn’t help but tsk. Was that mildew or algae they were seeing?

They never could figure out how someone like Howard had ended up in Rocket. He was observant enough to know he didn’t seem entirely sold on some of what Team Rocket did. Though it mostly seemed to be directed towards what some of the more violent members did.

That wasn’t everyone though. One couldn’t demean an entire organization just because of a few people. Sure they’d steal but not everyone was out for bloodshed. And besides it wasn’t like League was filled with a bunch of saints. His parents were testament of that. Not to mention the League had their own violent members, the hypocrites.

They reached their destination with little trouble and they were able to get the door open. Before deciding to speak. ”The first thing to do will be to oil those hinges. Because that noise will get old fast.” Well faster. The noise was already old to them. But it wasn’t quite to the point of driving them crazy yet.

After releasing Nightwing from his pokeball and giving it directions they watched as the older male released a Baltoy to help. They listened to the interactions between them unsure what he should think. It wasn’t long before Crumble was sent in to help Nightwing scout. Hopefully it wouldn’t take too long.

While they waited they leaned back against the tunnel wall. Their attention was focused on the door as they awaited their Pokémon to fly back out or alert them to something dangerous. The older males question had them turning their attention to Howard.

”Beats me,” they said with a shrug before continuing. ”I don’t ask why something is done, I don’t have a death wish. I’m sure they have their reasons.”

They could’ve said something else on the subject but Nightwing alighting at their feet made them aware of the bat Pokémon’s return. ”Seems like nothing to dangerous is in there,” they said as they made their way through the door.[break] howard slayte

Silence greeted the older males words.

Well obviously it was a rock. But they weren’t sure why he was so excited about some ordinary rock.

As if the male could read their thoughts. Or as if the silence spoke volumes. Probably the second one, yeah definitely the latter. The older male seemed to come to some sort of realization and explained himself.

So someone had already messed with this part of the cave then. And had put something here. Was what the older male was saying. And if he was bringing it up it had to be the reason that had brought them here. The secret base.

”To built a secret base. Probably figured no one would be able to figure out where it was,” they said figuring that was the reason they had put it in such a hard to find location. Probably didn’t think someone who had studied geology would be seeking out their secret base.

However from what they had been told the base was supposedly abandoned. Seemed a bit strange to go through so much work to abandon it. Unless that wasn’t what happened and something had happened to the person. If so whatever it was the place had been abandoned awhile according to what they’d been told.

Which reminded them that they needed to be careful. So they made sure they had Poseidon in their line of sight as they continued on around the corner only to find out it was a refurbished tunnel with a metal door at the end. Well if that wasn’t a secret base then they didn’t know what was.

”Most definitely. Even so best to still be on your guard. Can’t be to sure what could’ve made the secret base it’s home in its time of abandonment,” they pointed out before moving past the the order male when they had been told to go ahead. It didn’t bother them to go first.

They halted at the door their hand going to their pokeball containing Nightwing as they used their shoulder to push open the door. The door swung open on hinges that made a sound that were akin to the sound of nails on a chalkboard and he resisted the urge to cringe.

Having pushed down the cringe they let Nightwing out of his pokeball. ”Scout the base a bit. Cry out if there’s anything really dangerous inside if not just return to us so we know we can both enter safely,” they told the crobat. And with that the bat Pokémon flew into the base.

Of course if there really was anything dangerous inside they would insist on going inside by themselves to deal with it. Since they were unaware of the older males battling capabilities.[break] howard slayte

Injuries were a fact of life. May it be a skinned knee or a broken arm. Of course they knew this. But they hadn’t expected their injuries to take so long to heal. Or that they would be so out of depth when it came to tending to injuries. It was than they realized trying to get by by themselves wasn’t going to work.

The opportunity had basically landed in their lap when they had stumbled across a couple of people talking about a certain organization. They had stayed in the shadows listened to what they were talking about. They had passed them by and that had got them thinking.

Team Rocket seemed like it would get them started on the path they wanted to take. And perhaps they would offer up a place to sleep and food. Because roughing it while injured wasn’t cutting it. Seriously it was a wonder their injuries hadn’t gotten infected because they were doing a shoddy job at keeping them wrapped up. Though their injures didn’t faze them enough to prevent them from sneaking into someone garden or house and stealing a bit of food. For which they were thankful, but they weren’t sure for how long they could keep it up without some allies at their back.

It was with these thoughts running through their mind upon returning to their camp that they had reached out to this Team Rocket offering up their services. To their surprise it didn’t take long to get a reply back. Along with a place to meet.

So now here they were awaiting the guy that would be assessing them. While they waited they meditated but that didn’t mean they weren’t alert. Even if they weren’t their crobat, Nightwing, was scouting the area while their greninja, Poseidon, was standing guard near them ready to alert them if anyone approached.[break] Cillian Quinn

They supposed he had a point. ”Like landmarks,” they said simply with a nod to show they got what the older male was talking about. ”True, though that will make it harder for anyone outside of rocket from accidentally stumbling across it. I think for a base like this as long as someone has a good sense of direction they’ll be fine.” And if someone had a poor sense of direction than they supposed they were screwed unless they were with someone with a good sense of direction.

Being underground didn’t faze them. But they weren’t overly interested in tunneling so they were content with just reaching the base and doing what they had to do. They knew their partner was interested in this kind of stuff though. They didn’t really see the appeal but saw no point in saying as much.

The older male mentioned checking on their position and they simply inclined their head. Considering the older male hadn’t had any Pokémon out he had already braced himself for a flash of light that would tell him a Pokémon appeared. A Nosepass appeared and pointed them north. If they remembered correctly they would have to go north by northeast.

Howard’s words confirmed their thoughts and they nodded. ”Let’s get going then.” They liked to get things done as soon as possible. Having never been the type to procrastinate. Though they didn’t mind getting a feel for their surroundings either. After all one couldn’t be to careful.

Well they supposed that was one way to go about life. For that they envied the older male a bit. They didn’t feel like they had that kind of luxury to just live in the moment. The older male started talking about excavating before becoming excited over some rock asking if they knew what it means.

To be honest they didn’t much care what they did. Well okay maybe that wasn’t true. They wouldn’t do anything that would bring harm to their twin. But other than that they didn’t care what he had to do in the name of rocket. After all the things they did was putting them one step closer to getting what they wanted.

So right now if any of their superiors told them to jump. They would ask how high. Or however the saying went. So when they had been told to procure a new base for Team Rocket they hadn’t so much as batted an eye. They’d just said ’Yes, sir’ and had headed off to do as was asked of them.

Their partner for the mission howard slayte , they weren’t to sure what to think of him. Wasn’t too sure of his battle prowess. However they didn’t really care who they worked with. Even if it meant them doing all the heavy lifting. They were sure their greninja and crobat wouldn’t care either.

At current Ares was out of his pokeball ready to protect them from anything. The ninja Pokémon was keeping an eye out for anything that attacked them. That way they wouldn’t have to have their guard up. Though Sage always kept his guard up especially around other Rocket members he didn’t know to well.

The older males voice grabbed his attention making him turn his head towards the older male. Due to the mask that covered the top half of his face his expression would be hidden. ”Pretty sure that’s why it’s called a secret base,” he pointed out his tone giving nothing away.

”I’m fine,” he said with a small shrug while ignoring the given nickname. ”And yourself?” he inquired more to be polite since the older male had asked about his own wellbeing than because he cared.[break] howard slayte

Even before the older male speaks they knows who it is. The smoke is one give away. The other is the shadow miasma that fills the room. His words give them pause and they turn their head towards the older male seeming to regard him for a minute. As if trying to decide their next course of action.

Cillian Quinn was an underboss of team rocket so they could probably trust him. They didn’t want what the looked like to get out. Until they complete accomplish their goals they couldn’t allow word to get out what he looked like. Couldn’t chance his parents finding out he was alive until he was ready for them to know.

The older male didn’t seem like the gossiping type though. So perhaps it would be okay to remove the mask in his presence. Though not until he was sure he wouldn’t go telling someone what he’d seen under the mask.

”On one condition, you keep what I look like under the mask to yourself.” He was right that removing the mask would make the work a bit easier. But he was use enough to doing everything with the mask on that he would be fine working with it on.

They were feeling restless. The teen didn’t have any work to do and they were feeling like they needed to go do something. Though they couldn’t think of anything to do. Not off the top of their head. Reading like they normally would when hanging out in their room and was out, since they needed new reading material.

Getting up from where they had been laying flat on their back in their room they decided to go look around the base for something today. Slipping their usual mask on, that hid the top half of their face they made their way out of their room. They passed a few other members who seemed to busy to notice them, which didn’t faze them.

Their wondering feet led them to the gym. It’d been awhile since they’d worked out. Not that they thought their skills were rusty. But getting in a bit of a workout would give them something to do. And would kill this boredom they had.

Bypassing the weights and other exercise equipment they went over to some punching bags. Before they started throwing any punches they did a bit of a warm up. Then after making sure their gloves were secure on their hands they started punching the bag.

When he had nothing to do he liked relaxing. Sometimes with a nice book in his room or being surrounded by nature. He had read all the books he currently owned which actually weren’t very many, so he supposed he would have to find a place where he could surround himself with nature.

Wasn’t really in the mood to leave the hideout though. So that’s why he found himself in the courtyard. There was just something aesthetically pleasing about the place. Probably had something to do with flowers and plants that were around the place. It gave the place a certain serenity.

Finding a bench he sat down just taking in the scenery. Contrary to belief despite the mask he wore to cover the top half of his face he actually could see. To an outsider’s perception it probably would seem like it blocked out his vision. But it actually didn’t.

The teen hadn’t been involved with the Postdormitorium mission. They had been made to stay behind at the base. That didn’t mean they hadn’t made themself useful though. They had made sure they had plenty of medical supplies on hand to heal the injured. And had been on standby in case help was needed to tend to the injured.

Tending to injuries wasn’t something they were the best at. But they were decent enough and blood didn’t faze them. Not like how it use to. There was just something about being injured to the point of nearly dying that made it so blood didn’t faze a person. Or that’s the way it happened for them. Of course they had been injured so badly before joining rocket and was was in the final stages of recovery when they had stumbled across members of team rocket. By that point they had already donned a mask to hide their identity.

Hearing their superior speak they turned their head towards him. Due to the mask that covered the top half of their half it would be near impossible to know what they thought from checking their expression. Their nod wouldn’t give away what they truly felt either. But with anyone who had worked with them would know that they would do whatever was asked of them.
