Yeah Pokémon had a habit of not liking coffee. Probably too bitter for them. That was the reason some people gave to not liking coffee. So even saying there wasn’t enough sugar and crème to make in bearable. It wasn’t really something he understood himself. But that was probably because he drank coffee like he needed it to live.

Listening to what he had to say he nodded in agreement. ”Yes, a bit of rain would be good. Though not to much rain. We don’t need a months worth of it,” he pointed out. But some rain to cool things down a bit would be good. Because this was basically torture. At least in his opinion it was.

His attention would be grabbed by the Skitty and he would watch it closely. It was clear he was ready to leap forwards if the Skitty fell or something. Luckily he didn’t need to. The Skitty let out a cry that sounded thankful before leaping away into the brush.

With the Skitty gone he supposed it was time for him to be getting home. It seemed Elliot seemed to be on the same wavelength when it came to leaving. Which wasn’t to surprising. Even with the shade they shouldn’t stay out for too long. Even if it had become more bearable considering the position of the sun in the sky.

The fact that Elliot had enjoyed meeting him was definitely a bit weird to him. His own father hadn’t liked him, so it was just weird for people to enjoy his company. His grandparents had been trying to undo everything he had learned from being around his father but it was slow going.

”It was nice meeting you as well,” he said mentally shaking himself.

His own Pokémon seeming to sense they were about to leave as well had returned to his side as well. ”Yes, I suppose so,” he agreed. ”Even with the temperature dropping a bit it’s still not a good idea to stay outside for to long.”

Returning Volt, his Zebstrika, to his Pokéball he was about to swing himself onto his Corviknight when Elliot spoke again giving him pause. ”Yeah I’ll probably get some food into my Pokémon as well. As for me I’ve always struggled with eating when I’m hot,” he told the older male frowning slightly.

His gaze would briefly flash down to the others hand before he would slowly take it and shake it. He still wasn’t big on physical contact. But a handshake was something he didn’t really mind. So he shook his hand before deciding he should give some response to what the older male said even if the last part of his comment had embarrassed him a bit. Still wasn’t real use to praise.

”Thanks,” he said after he had let go of the other males hand letting his own hand talk to his side. ”Wouldn’t be to surprising if we did run into each other again. With my line of work traveling isn’t to uncommon. And even when not working I like exploring but I still return home everyday,” he explained as he swung himself up onto Rook.

The Corviknight would allow him the time to wave before taking off. As Rook flew them back to Fortree he would think back a bit on the meeting he had had with Elliot.[break] @elliot

He had trouble trusting people he didn’t really know. But it would’ve been worse if Orion was kind to him. It was hard for him to know what to do with someone who was kind to him. That didn’t mean he still wasn’t uncomfortable. He was just less uncomfortable with someone who wasn’t being friendly towards him.

Even so he would keep his guard up. Upon hearing the question he would shake his head. ”Not really,” he said his voice monotone. While he loved Pokémon he hadn’t had much chance of studying up on them. He supposed he should start doing that.

”From what I’ve heard you do though. Is there anything you can tell me?” he inquired as they continued walking. While he waited he picked at his nails. A habit his grandparents didn’t like since he had cracked his nail once. But it was better than looking at the Silvally.

Why they would want him for this beat him. Did he seem like the type that was good with children? Because he didn’t really think he was. Not that he had ever tried to see if he was good at the who taking care of kids thing. Mainly because he wasn’t sure how he was suppose to handle kids.

But if nothing else he was stubborn. Because of that he wasn’t the type to give up. So if they wanted him for something like this he would give it everything he had. Even if he didn’t understand why they would choose him to teach a bunch of kids how to handle water pokemon.

Though he gave the pointers from time to time he mostly kept an eye on them to make sure they stayed safe. He already had to stop a few from jumping into the river. While the river was one of he more come ones he wasn’t to sure how deep it was in the middle, and he didn’t want to risk one of the children nearly drowning.

Keeping the children in his peripheral he turned towards the older male trying to to show discomfort as being addressed as Blackwell. ”Everything’s going well, only a few kids need instructions while the others only need pointers,” he told the captain.[break] Raziel Beckett

He wasn’t sure how he felt about that. ”If you say so,” he said falling silent. The teen wasn’t the type to push an issue. To use to being told that he needed to learn to mind his own business. Not that he ever really got in someone’s business in the first place. That was just his father being his father.

What the league was making him do? What was he talking about. ”Are you telling me some people of the league are a bunch of hypocrites?” he asked a bit hesitantly. He wasn’t sure if he would get in trouble for sharing such an opinion. But considering the conflict between Team Rocket and the League and what he had said it did seem that way.

Thinking about it to much would probably just agitate him so he decided to just move on with the conversation. Right now his top priority was what they had come here for. With that in mind he asked if the older male knew his way around. He had never been here so he was hoping the elite ranger would know how to navigate his way around Shoal Cave.

Well he didn’t know who that person was, but as long as Josh could get them around Shoal Cave he wasn’t complaining. He simply nodded and followed the older male into the cave. Looking around his gaze immediately caught sight of the frozen waterfall. Which wasn’t to big of a deal but what he saw when he looked into the waterfall was. It seemed to be some kind of ice castle.

Only the arrival of a few Pokémon would draw his attention away from the frozen waterfall. He would eye the Pokémon before deciding he didn’t really feel any overwhelming urge to obtain either of them but if Josh wanted to obtain either of them he was prepared to provide backup.[break] Josh Devlin

He couldn’t help but be a bit confused about the older male’s introduction. He simply nodded at the mention of scouting before deciding he should speak. ”Yes, I’m Ever it’s nice to meet you as well. And I’m originally from Galar,” he said though he was still a bit lost on why the older male had mentioned his home region. But since he had done so he had decided to mention his own home region.

What he said made sense. Sometimes one had to make do with what they had. And if one didn’t have the right Pokémon with them they would have to put in the work themselves. So it made since to train for such an outcome if it ever occurred. One could never be to careful after all.

He would nod before looking between the two Pokémon. Neither were ones he was to familiar with. But he wouldn’t mind acquiring both at some point. Both liked they made for good ride Pokémon. And would probably be of some help when it came to his ranger duties. Things considered it was hard to choose. He could go with Braviary considering he was a bit more use to bird Pokémon considering his main Pokémon was a Corviknight. Or maybe he could go with a type he wasn’t to use to to give himself a challenge.

With those thoughts he had come to a decision. ”I’ll go with the Dragonite. I want to try with one I’m not real use to. I have a Corviknight so I’m use to bird Pokémon. So I feel the Dragonite would provide more of a challenge,” he explained.[break] Oliver Shrakes

”I didn’t think you would. I would over the lid to my thermos. But I don’t think the Skitty would like the water to taste like coffee,” he said as he eyed the canteen that Elliot had on him. Perhaps this would could be used as a learning experience. That he should keep water dishes on him just in case something like this happened again.

He nodded in agreement to what he said. ”I agree and none of these leaves are big enough to use as a makeshift bowl either,” he said as he eyed some of the leaves along the branches of the trees. Nope too small to be of any use. And it wasn’t like he had anything to bring multiple leaves together to turn it into a makeshift bowl.

Hearing his suggestion he nodded. ”That could work,” he agreed as he watched the older male feed the Skitty some water from his canteen. Well that was fixed for now. But how long was the question. He supposed one of them could always make a quick trip into the city if they really needed to. But he would rather not have to do they if they didn’t have to.

Of course he wanted to. He loved Pokémon to much to turn a blind eye to one that needed help. Of course it would be the same if it was a person as well. Deep down he truly was a kind person even if how he interacted with others often made people think otherwise.

Due to the fact he remains alert he immediately noticed when Josh flew into view on his Charizard. As the older male landed beside him and withdrew his Charizard he politely inclined his head in greeting. Otherwise he didn’t speak, deciding just to let the older male start any interaction between them.

”Good Morning, Josh,” he greeted verbally since the older male had done so. Figuring it would be the polite thing to do. ”It was no trouble,” he said his tone steady though the fact he looked away spoke of his discomfort at the gratitude. He wasn’t use to people expressing gratitude to him. It was kind of weird.

Seeing movement from the gym leader he turned his head and watched as he released what appeared to be an Arcanine. But it wasn’t like one he had ever seen before. Of course he knew about regional variants. But he wasn’t aware of the Arcanine line having one. He supposed it was something he would have to look into when he had the time.

Listening to the older male he couldn’t help but be concerned. What could be wrong with him. The topic of medicine caught him off guard making him say the first thing that popped into his mind. ”Why is he taking medicine?” he inquired before realizing what he had asked. ”You don’t have to answer if you don’t want.”

Though he didn’t know the people he mentioned he didn’t say anything else. He just watched what he did. Watched as he loosened the saddle a bit before getting back on the Arcanine. Hopefully that would make things more comfortable for the Arcanine.

The young man watched as the older male walked off. He assumed he was off to get the flowers he had requested. Staying where he was he waited for him to return. And it didn’t take him long to reappear. But instead of coming back over he instead gestured for him to come over to where he was.

He approached the table he was at and quietly watched the older male work, only giving a simple nod to his comment. It was clear that the older male was skilled in what he did. At least more skilled than him anyway. It wasn’t something he would ever be able to do himself. While he did enjoy flowers he wouldn’t be able to find a way to come up with a good combination like the male in front of him did.

Taking the bouquet he inspected it before shaking his head. ”No that works,” he said taking a deep breath before continuing. ”Thank you,” he said his tone indicated that he wasn’t to use to thanking people. It wasn’t long before his partner arrived. The wariness he picked up from the other immediately put him on edge. Well more on edge. He had already been on edge due to the fact that he would be working with someone he didn’t know. But he was pretty good as masking the fact he was on edge.

”Correct,” he said resisting the urge to copy the older males posture. A natural reflex to the way the older male made him feel. Like he was trying to come off as intimidating. But rather or not that was on purpose was the question. It’s possible that was not his intention so he shouldn’t risk coming off as intimidating himself.

Instead he would just turn in the direction he had heard the Oranguru was in. ”I suppose we should be on our way,” he said as he began to make his way further along Route 116 making sure to remain alert.[break] Orion Lykos

Tera crystals wasn’t something he knew much about. He supposed that was something that needed to change, especially after the whole ordeal where he had been kidnapped for forced labor. So when he had heard of the possibility of a the possibility of a new cavern with Tera Crystals appearing at Mount Chimney by his superiors he had immediately jumped at the opportunity. And since he was still only a ranger cadet it had just been turned into a mission with a fellow ranger.

It was another ranger that he had to work with. To him it seemed he worked with a new ranger every time he had a new mission. It was probably to get him use to working with a variety of different people. That was the only reason he could think of.

Reaching the designated meeting spot he looked around. He wasn’t to surprised that he had been the first to arrive. Now all there was to wait. Hopefully it wouldn’t take his partner to long to arrive. Not that he was the impatient sort, it was just a bit hot to be standing around without some kind of shade.

While he waited he thought about what the mission would entail. As long as nothing drastic happened the mission would probably be a simple mission. But he had a feeling this mission would turn out to be a test for him. It was just a feeling he had. One that he couldn’t shake. If he had learned anything in his life it was to never ignore what his instincts were telling him.

Footsteps drew him from his thoughts and he looked towards the source. He eyed the approaching person and pushed himself away from the wall he had been leaning against. ”You’re the other ranger?” he inquired just to be sure this was really his partner.
