If Oliver was surprised by his choice he didn’t show it. Though he did seem to think it was interesting. He supposed most would take the easy path. But he had always loved a good challenge. That and there was also part of him that felt like he would be cheating if he chose the Braviary, since he was a bit use to bird Pokémon thanks to Rook.

As the dragon Pokémon went off he listened to the sounds of the Pokémon crashed through the undergrowth as he took note of the things around him. Taking in where the sun was and from which direction the wind was blowing from. And if it was blowing hard enough to carry sound. When it came to tracking you had take notice of more than just what direction they headed off in and if they were making any noise.

As he spoke of giving his Pokémon a ten minute head start he nodded. As he continued on and spoke of there a being a chance of him punching and kicking he barely resisted the urge to flinch. He did stiffen though. His expression gave nothing away just maintaining its focused expression.

Once he was given the go ahead he nodded before headed off into the woods. Entering the woods he would take notes of the things around. He would start off by looking to see if there were footprints and if that didn’t work he would check the undergrowth and trees.

A broken branch of flattened undergrowth would be good indicators of which way the Dragonite had gone if using tracks didn’t help. He would do all of this. And once he found what he was looking for he would began to track the Dragonite down his gaze picking up clues that most would just dismiss.

While most would think otherwise Ever could be a bit of a bleeding heart. Especially when it came to Pokémon. It wasn’t a side of him he showed very often, preferring to keep his emotions at arms length. It was easier for him that way. Especially since he felt that showing his softer side was a sort of weakness or that it was something someone could take advantage of.

But when it came to stuff like this it was hard for him not to get worked up about the matter. Maybe because he knew what it was like. Or maybe because he had a soft spot for Pokémon. Of course it could very well be a combination of those two things as well. It wasn’t something he had given much thought on nor was it something he wanted to think to much on either.

As he spoke of the war he frowned. A sudden surge of resentment flooded through him. Not at Josh of course but at how unfair the world was. How much suffering people had to go through due to the selfishness of other people. He didn’t dare allow what he was feeling to show on his face but his hands did curl into fist. Tight enough for his nails to dig into his palms.

”No I haven’t had the chance yet to meet any mythical or legendary Pokémon,” he said his voice betraying nothing of how he was feeling. The course of the conversation would move on to Avatars. Avatars wasn’t something he knew to much about. Just that they made people basically immortal. Thought why legendaries would do something like that still eluded him.

Though what he was hearing this Type: Null Pokémon could counter such people. However he could also see a flaw in that plan. ”Even if we use that method to win against Team Rocket we still lose. There are no winners when methods like that are used,” he pointed out his tone level, though there was a dark undertone to his tone.

He absently rubbed his shoulder frowning as he thought over all that had been said. Knowing they wouldn’t get anywhere he indicated that they should move on after the gym leader had collected his newly acquired Pokémon. Once he had done that they would be able to move on.[break] Josh Devlin

The Growlithe wasn’t like one he had ever seen before. Of course he knew of variants so he knew this Growlithe was one. He had only talk of a Growlithe variant having never seen it in person. If he remembered currently Growlithe was a Hisuian variation. Meaning it had come through one of the space time distortions at some point.

While Kano sniffed around he looked around but decided to keep the conversation going, not really having anything else to do. ”Kanto Growlithe has a good sense of smell as well. Pretty sure it’s a trait shared by all canine Pokémon. Just like Rook has sharp eyesight due to being a bird Pokémon,” he said as he continued to let his gaze sweep his surroundings.

”Kano is an interesting name unlike Rook, I named him when he was still a Rookidee I was only ten at the time so I couldn’t really think of anything better than that. He doesn’t seem to mind it though,” he said as he looked up. He seemed to look up just as the Corviknight spotted something.

He hadn’t been staring at him for any of the reasons he was thinking. But didn’t know that Icarus was use to being stated at so he didn’t think to say anything. Instead choosing to look away and pretend it hadn’t happened. After all he didn’t like it when people stared at him. Something that often happened due to his hair color, but the expression he often wore usually made sure it didn’t last long.

”You know you should give yourself more credit. I’m sure they’re good,” he said looking away for once while he spoke. Talking about his feelings wasn’t something he was comfortable with. Especially if he was looking at the person he was talking to. Hence the reason he had looked away while speaking despite having been taught to always look at the person he was talking to.

He wasn’t exactly sure what he was trying to ask him. He had already told him what he did for a living. Maybe he was asking for his reasoning on becoming a ranger. Though the fact he was also in the ranger program was a surprise. Then again it wasn’t like he was mister social.

Mentally shaking himself to clear his thoughts he spoke. ”I want to be a good person. I want to make the world a better place for people and Pokémon. I want to keep Pokémon safe. That’s why I started training to be a ranger.” He said all this while looking at the ground. He wasn’t exactly sure why he had told him all this. But he had asked, and he answered to the best of his ability.

His comment about hurting Pokémon head him snapping his head up so fast it was a wonder he didn’t end up with whiplash. For a minute he lost his composure showing his surprise but it was quickly replaced by his usual expression. ”I didn’t think there was anyone else around like that,” he admitted and would wait until he had collected his newly acquired Pokémon before indicating they move on.

They hadn’t gone to far when Volt alerted him about pokemon approaching. When the two Pokémon showed up he gave them a cursory look but didn’t do anything otherwise. If it came to a battle he knew he wouldn’t be able to get into it. Not that he could ever get into it. But he wouldn’t be able to really focus on a battle if it happened, so he indicated the Icarus could go ahead and choose what Pokémon he wanted.[break] icarus blooms

Ghost hunting? Seriously? The whole idea had never crossed his mind. Because usually it was a bunch of nonsense. Because usually they tried to sell the fact that it was human ghost. Something he didn’t believe in. The only ghost he believed in were Pokémon with a ghost typing. But anything beyond that he didn’t believe in.

Ghost Pokémon were known for making mischief, so he figured it was just some ghost Pokémon doing what it did best. None of this human ghost nonsense that these kind of people wanted to sell. He closed his fist around the key he had been given and leaned back against the wall of the apartment building that him and his partner would be checking out.

His partner for this mission was someone he had met previously. Something he was thankful for. It was always easier to work with someone he had already met. Even if it was someone he had only met once. It was still easier, since he found it a bit easier talking to someone he had already met.

She thought it was nice to meet him. He still couldn’t get over the fact that people would find it nice to meet him. What was so nice about meaning him. He didn’t understand it. But that wasn’t something he was about to get into right now. Asking further about that kind of stuff only had questions directed his way or had people telling him he shouldn’t think so less of himself.

”Nice to meet you as well,” he said inclining his head. He would try and be more polite even if he didn’t really know her. Though he had decided on being polite he hoped that she wasn’t expecting a lot of conversation from him. In fact he wasn’t real sure how to go about starting a conversation with her. Conversing with people he didn’t really know wasn’t his strong suit. Of course conversing wasn’t his strong suit even when talking to people he did know.

It seemed it wasn’t something he needed to worry about though. Since she decided to bring up why they had been brought here. Speaking of Pokémon….. He needed to bring out his own partner. With that thought in mind he released Rook from his pokeball the Corviknight appearing in a flash of light.

”Keep an eye on things from above. Alert us if something unfriendly comes our way,” he told the avian watching as he took off before redirecting his attention to his partner. ”Yes, they do,” he agreed. ”Hopefully with eyes in sky we’ll be better at accomplishing what we came here to do.”

While he didn’t mind working with her he decided not to get into that part of the comment. He had to bite back on an apology that she had to work with him after all. Type: Full wasn’t something he was familiar with so he shook his head. The older male went on to explain what it was. And what it had originally been intended for. What he was saying didn’t sound good at all. That kind of stuff couldn’t be good for the Pokémon.

Looking at the picture he frowned. It seemed like a mesh up of different parts. Made him think of a book he had read once. What had it been called? Frankenstein? ”So basically Frankenstein,” he said his expression showing some distaste about the comparison. Frankenstein hadn’t actually been a book he cared for.

And it seemed his earlier thoughts had been correct. As he went on to explain about the side affects his expression darkened. At the mention of death he flinched slightly his expression faltering slightly before hardening. He knew what it was like to come near death. So he didn’t know how anyone could fathom taking the innocent lives of anyone or anything.

All of this sounded like something his father would get behind. Realizing his hands were shaking he quickly shoved them into his pockets. ”Why does it matter what kind of Pokémon you have. How could they fathom asking you to do this?” he he asked his expression neutral but their was a note of agitation in his voice.

He just did not understand how anyone could ask someone to do this. Before he could fall into some kind of spiral about all this he was distracted by the elite ranger interacting with a Swinub. He watched the two his expression still unreadable as the dark haired man caught the Swinub.

Cruelty? It was something he had once been use to. ”I should be use to how cruel the world is by now,” he said with a shrug.[break] Josh Devlin

Something was harming the Wooloo at a ranch in Littleroot. It was a small ranch but from what he understood it still did well. Probably due to rise in popularity to the place due to the new gym leader. That’s what he figured anyway. He could be wrong though. It wasn’t something he planned on asking about. Just in case it ended up being a sensitive subject.

That he didn’t really need anyone to complain to his superiors. So he had just quietly taken up the mission nodded as the owner went on with what was expected of them. Of course he had gotten a run down of all this by his superiors, but it was always nice to have a refresher. Especially since his partner for the mission probably hadn’t had the same luxury of having the mission explained to her before now.

His gaze flickered briefly to the young woman who would be working with him before returning to the owner of the ranch. ”Don’t worry we’ll do whatever we can to keep the Wooloo safe,” he promised in a monotone voice. The person who had hired them for this seemed pleased with his promise and nodded to them before leaving, presumably to get some chores done.

Once he was gone he would redirect his attention to his partner for the mission. ”If we’re going to be working together than we should introduce ourselves,” he told her.
