Going by general description at best, Yuina was sure that she had found the gym leader in question as she and Daikenki moved away from the vessel, just in time to avoid a crowd of people only slightly younger than her (or at least she could assume, still unsure of exactly how old she was) moved through like one giant wave. Off to the side, a man sat at the pier with a fishing rod, and two Pokemon that she was unfamiliar with, but he did look up to acknowledge her, confirming her name. To the best of his ability.[break]
"Yeah, you must be Michael? Ollie said everyone calls you Navy though," she questioned, unsure if she was 'everyone' and if she could use the informality.[break][break]
"Involved could be a strong word, but I was definitely there," Yuina returned, and as the saying went, she had the scars to prove it. She wasn't sure if her 'involvement' had been worth much good though, if anything she was merely present on the island, and perhaps shouldn't have been at all.[break]
He remarked at his Pokemon getting in the way of a potential catch, the crazed feline leaping into the salt water with no shame on the matter, gobbling up anything that may have been on the hook. Leaving the Pokemon to its own devices though, Michael stood from the pier and regarded her fully, Daikenki too who stood just behind her, looking at the man in kind.[break][break]
In his own right, Daikenki was powerful, and it seemed that him and Rasza had become some of her more prominent Pokemon in the things that she'd been doing recently, but he said the quiet part out loud... Powerful if she knew how to work with him...[break]
And then a question, one that Yuina wasn't necessarily expecting, but... if she was going to seek out help, it was one that she needed to be able to answer. One that she couldn't right now...[break][break]
"Well, there's no reason to try and make myself sound good by saying I'm fighting for good and know what I'm doing," she said, a bit pointedly, but it was mostly at herself. Why... was she doing any of this? And what had she actually done thus far to have any meaning...?[break]
"I... Thought I knew why, but anyone can say they have an idea of what they're doing and what their goals are before things get serious... And then when it does...," she returned, she could remember exactly how she felt, just a few short months ago, she thought she was making a difference just doing the odd job here and there, and then she was on that island, facing the real threats, the actual conflicts, she couldn't pretend she actually knew what was going on or how it mattered to her, not when she couldn't figure out why she was doing any of the things that she was doing any more. It was easy to blame it on that feeling, that something inside of her screaming to be heard, that subconscious part of her that made her feel compelled to do anything. But all it ever was was recklessness, and she had already bore the consequences of recklessness without cause.[break][break]
"So, honestly, I don't know right now, but I guess I need to figure it out before things get real again. I can't go in like I did on that island when the next thing happens, it doesn't do anybody any good."

They were gaining distance, and while Yuina had thought that she was doing the correct thing and making sure to run them off, she had a fleeting thought of not knowing where they had come from before, and what if they had intel or resources that they were harboring? She could very well just be giving them a free ticket getting out of this fight... When she should be trying to apprehend them...[break]
"Shoot, come on Daikenki go, we can't loose them," Yuina urged, now aware of the potential in her error, she shouldn't have been letting them get away![break][break]
Out in front of her, Nimbus was trying to keep his pace, but as the pink Pokemon dipped into the water, he lost visual for that quick moment, and that was the quick moment that they needed to get the drop on him. The screeching shook Nimbus, he shuttered atop his tail and tried to cover his ears.

Wincing had she had chosen to lean against the banister on her left arm, Yuina leaned back and switched sides again as the ship continued forward across the ocean. She was trying to work out her left arm and shoulder little by little, but it was still pretty tender.[break]
Daikenki huffed beside her, the Samurott standing on the deck with her, and they looked out to the near distance where the island of Dewford was coming up, they'd be docking soon.[break][break]
Now that she had been bumped up into the Elite Rank for the Rangers, that meant more intensive and involved work, and given everything that was happening in the south of the region right now, Dewford was short on help and rangers, they needed reinforcements. So Yuina was assinged to Dewford as an official, unofficial post as the waves after the war on route 105 washed over the southern portion of Hoenn. ollie morales was definitely seeing something in her that she didn't see in herself through all of this, had she really done anything of note on the island? She felt like a failure, every battle she lost, every adversary she had to flee from... She could barely hold her own out there... But maybe it wouldn't all be for not?[break]
Yuina had heard the name tossed around a handful of times, a Michael Navidson was in Dewford town as the gym leader, and coming there as an assigned ranger to work things out, they'd be working together to mend the island. If anything, she at least knew that he was a good gym leader, involved in the league forces... She wasn't sure what kind of expectations had been set for her arrival but... She needed help. Yuina was well behind on any actual prowess in Pokemon training, strategy, battling, she didn't even have the basics of self defense...[break][break]
But she couldn't let her Elite Rank fall through her fingers, if she couldn't stand up to it.[break][break]
She was also probably thinking too hard on everything, and this came in the form of a groan as she stood upright, Daikenki huffed again as he nudged her.[break]
"I know, I know. We just have to keep going one day at a time. I just didn't think it would get harder and harder to do that with every day," she sighed, patting the water type's smooth blue fur. They were docking, and she moved to disembark with Daikenki, stepping foot onto Dewford Island to work on... Well... Everything?

Standing back with Daikenki, Yuina watched, and listened, as the Gigaton Ball struggled on the ground. It was no doubt that the device wouldn't be able to carry on much longer this way. That aside for the moment though, Yuina smiled as Doug's figure emerged from the ball, and while she did well to not approach first, some of her intuition from being in the wilds of that far away place had started to come back to her, she smiled wider as Doug turned to her.[break][break]
"Ohayou gozaimasu," she spoke softly, the pronunciation was a bit off, but a few words that she had learned from the village had started to come back to her, and after confirming in texts, she was sure this was a greeting. Doug moved into her figure, his head alone larger than her entire upper body as he licked at her. She wondered, did she know him, in that life before? Had she met his owner? Did he remember her at all, or was the distortion perhaps not as kind to him in understanding fully what had happened to him... In any case, Yuina laughed a bit at Doug's greeting, it was good to see that he was alright.[break][break]
"Hmm? Historian? I guess you could say that," Yuina returned, holding Doug's giant head in her hands before moving out from behind him, to find Howard on the other side.[break]
"Hmm, what did you find about it in particular? We may not have the exact same materials here, especially since this isn't even the same land mass as where Hisui was said to be settled, but analogs are always worth a try," she inquired, wondering what particular piece or pieces Howard might have found that the ball needed. She looked around though, this place... Surely...[break][break]
"This area experienced two very powerful distortions, not that far apart from each other. Those shards are all over the place, I wonder if, other materials made it through?"

Yuina couldn't imagine... Where she didn't even know if she had family, where they were, or if they were looking for her, that was different than knowing that his children were out there and he couldn't see them, someone was keeping them from him... And he had to miss them every day...[break][break]
"Please, tell me everything about them," Yuina encouraged, she wanted to know everything that Frank would tell her about his kids, about his family... Living vicariously through him in a sense, without memories of her own family.

The journey through this broken place was... Exhausting, to say the least, like swimming through the ocean trying to get to a shore that wasn't there... It was a full body workout, a whole being experience, wading through the gravity changes, jumping from island to island, Yuina felt like she had been running or pushing through some sort of metaphysical goop. Every muscle was sore, she ached at the exertion of it all, and she was nearly out of breath as they finally came to a particular set of land that... Seemed to be putting itself back together, like they'd reached the end, the frame of some twisted abstract painting.[break][break]
They came to a stop, and Yuina couldn't help needing to huff and catch her breath, leaning down with her hands on her knees as her hair hung down around her. She glanced though, to the side, it looked like they'd found the end of this place, or the beginning of their reality again? The concept was contrived, there was probably no correct direction. She stood up straighter, looking to the woman that she had ended up in this place with, do this again sometime...?[break][break]
"Uhm, how about no...? I'm good on accidentally breaking into a distorted reality and fighting gravity for a while," she returned slowly... this... Was not something that she was going to seek out again. Though... She didn't seek it out the first time.[break]
They had spent all of this time working together and trying to get out of this place, Yuina did almost truly forget that she had been chasing her from the start, and that she was still supposed to apprehend this terrorist that was working with chemicals in the city... But...[break][break]
"Our relationship now isn't what it was then, that's what you said right? We'll... part ways here, and leave it at that for now," Yuina returned. Her report on the situation would be easy enough to work on, she got lost in a broken dimension and just... Couldn't keep up with her pursuit. Would she regret this? She... Wasn't sure... But for the moment, Yuina couldn't find a good reason to break their unlikely ally-ship. Who knows what their relationship would be the next time they met?

The mention was tough, it wasn't something that anyone likely wanted to talk about, but it was something that happened, and Yuina could only listen as Josh had his moment in regards to the things that had happened on that island, the losses that had occurred. She had done her best to move past some of the things that had happened to her too, the things that she had lost, some of her own Pokemon... And yet, making her peace with it was something that she was almost concerned over. Perhaps it was because she had already lost so much, her entire life in fact, having to move forward day by day with that weight... Maybe moving forward from loss was something that she could handle, for better or for worse...[break]
It didn't make the sting any less present thought...[break][break]
"Yeah... it's okay, I get it..." she murmured.[break]
"I think a lot of us suffered a lot of things out there, and everyone will work things out in their own way..."

Advancing up the beach now, Yuina moved with Crowley towards their pursuit as he stood opposite them, gathering himself from being in the water. While the small fish he had with him had been returned, Yuina watched then as he released... One of those metal machines that roamed the island...? Hmm... She didn't think they were Pokemon, and surely didn't think they could be captured...[break]
They would definitely have to keep on the offensive then.[break][break]
"Anything has to be better than what you had out in the water," Yuina returned, she was just annoyed at this point, this guy was just as rude and snarky as the rest of them. He was going to give it everything he had?[break]
"We'll get in on that too," she said as she stepped forward with Crowley, tapping the orb at her belt. Crowley began to glow and shimmer before taking on a deep indigo crystalline armor, his new found tera type after their exploits on that volcano. The croc hissed with an open maw as he lunged forward, bringing the water of the ocean with him in his movement, and thrust a Waterfall towards both the mechanical pokemon and their pursuit.

A bit of relief came over Yuina as Frank switched topics, and so eagerly too as he took out his phone. It was getting to be his daughter's birthday? He had a family, he had kids? How wonderful, he must be so happy...[break]
"Oh, she's precious, she really is," Yuina smiled then looking over the picture, the way he smiled, the way he spoke about her, Frank lit up in the most genuine way. He was so pleased about her, the love he had for her, it was so palpable, but... He... couldn't see her?[break][break]
"That's... That's terrible...," Yuina said, knowing it wasn't a new statement to make about how... unfortunate that was?[break]
"No one should have to live a life, knowing another life of theirs is out there, going on without them...," she empathized, she... Wouldn't wish that upon anyone...

Looking out to her pursuer, Yuina fumed, she had conceded before, she couldn't have won that fight no matter how much she hated the thought that he would garner victory. In spite of that though, giving him free passage to the island which had seemed to be the goal before, now she was faced with him again in her retreat...[break]
Pushing the assaulting dragon away with her wings, Rasza roared as the beast started its way back towards her in the air, and if there was anything that she could do to ensure that they could try and make it out of this fight, she needed to exercise her advantage in the situation, her speed. Turning over in the air, Rasza fell a bit before pushing out her wings, gaining an updraft and soaring with great speed past the black Charizard in an attempt to keep her distance, maintain her range. Turning and spiraling higher into the air, Rasza splayed her wings with a flurry of Scorching Sand to attack.[break][break]
Even from the very first moment that he had encroached upon Yuina, she had been flustered, furious, terrified, and everything in between, and now in this fugue state of trying to figure out what he wanted out of any of this, his questioning caught her off guard.[break][break]
"What?! I-I don't know, I...," she paused, and for every reason she felt like that was the wrong answer... She didn't know, she didn't remember, if she had any siblings, any family... But that wasn't something she was openly sharing, especially with someone like him...[break]
"No! I don't know who you think I am, just leave me alone," Yuina shouted, he'd been trying to do this all along, trying to dig at her until she couldn't take it any more, he must think she was someone else, there was someone else that looked like her out there in the region surely... They hadn't even been very up close to each other yet, he couldn't possibly make out her discernable features from afar... And she just wanted out of this. She motioned Bronson to move through the air, to fly in... Any direction... She just wanted to get away...

Bos clopped through the grass, his tails swaying behind him as he lumbered forward, coming up on Josh and the long furred Pokemon that he rode on. Yuina looked down at his greeting, noting how much shorter the Pokemon was from his typical mounts, but she smiled all the same, it was good to see a friend.[break]
"Has it been a long time? Only a couple of weeks I think," she wondered, though those couple of weeks still felt like a long time. The volcano, the swamps, the warzone... Had it really only been just a couple of weeks since they last saw each other?[break][break]
"You were out there too, weren't you," Yuina returned after a couple of quiet moments, whether the scars she could see had always been there or not, it was the tone, the energy, it was palpable. Being out there on that island, at least for her, wasn't something that she could just move on from as if it were normal? The fact that so many around her were moving on like it was just another happenstance was concerning in and of itself.
