When she listened to the story of her fellow poisoner, they felt as if they were two sides of the same coin, constructed of the same metal. Though one side happened to be aged and tattered, while the other had been shined and repaired. What the woman had wanted and appeared to have achieved was all that Marilyn wished for in the present, to finally take that which forced her into the cells. "It's strange to think that once something is taken from you for so long, once it falls back into your hands some wish for it to feel like a reward rather than being deserved," she said softly, ".. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't bitter because of it, unable to live to my whims. It's what all of us ladies need, ultimately."[break][break]

Confidence in her words, knowledge delicately placed on the table, it was clear that Elisabeth was quite wise; many saw elders to be incompetent due to their deterioration, but the words that drifted from her lips made it seem the feeling of respect was mutual. It was kind, one that brought her grin to widen from ear to ear. Taking a long sip of the tea, her hand clasped her heart while her eyes delved into the nostalgic dreams of such a resurrection, humming in flattery at her previous sincerities.[break][break]

"Oh, that would be quite the blessing. Picking up where I left off, ah." Her eyes traveled around the words, looking into the crackling fireplace that rested upon one of the fine walls. "It could even be a safe house for all of the young ones of the world dedicated to the cause, a rendezvous point.. perhaps somewhere not lost with the times, like Rustboro. I despise how different most of the cities are now, like Mauville and Slateport, they lack the old charm they once retained." She said, open-minded to some things, but not all.[break][break]

Though she spent most of her adulthood before her conviction in the big city of Goldenrod, her childhood flourished in what used to be the antique Hoenn. A shame the once quaint city of Slateport had fallen into the hands of modernization, it was quite the annoyance.

To mourn for a soldier who gave their life to protect Hoenn was a noble feat, though Marilyn's curiosities led her to wonder just what they gave their life against. Though that was all so trivial, all so unimportant; the stranger was finished now, allowing the two to coexist in the moment without a need to pry. Fluttering about, their gaze both turned to the paradox pokemon which appeared to have its eyes set on a wild Bronzong, scheming for what it wished to inflict upon it.[break][break]

"You've met one too? How delightful, sweetheart," she said with a smile, tapping her cane into the ground below, ".. they are curious creatures, yes. A dear acquaintance gave it to me as a gift." A wager, a gift that was brought upon her for being believed to be promising- one of the few delights that came from criminal, wretched expertise. She wished to leave out such details to appear lighthearted, a free existence without bounds or ties, a temporary feeling.[break][break]

And a blessing that wiseness would be, as the woman's introduction held the name of Galarian royalty. "You may call me Mari, or Gran if you prefer.. that last name comes with quite the history, my! Oh, and you have some spirits with you as well, how precious! I adore ghosts, they are divine." She exclaimed with drawn-out words and a giggle. Noticing that the Flutter Mane had launched a shadow ball at the Bronzong, she was quick to throw a pokeball at it to prevent a further scuff. Unpleasantries and lack of civility had no place when having a run-in with a presumed royal.[break][break]

She wondered why a Calcifet moved to Hoenn, unaware.

"Oh, you flatter me, sweetheart," Marilyn smiled as she spoke, shakily bringing the tea to rest between her hands, ".. it's a tea only the finest of people should be able to drink, too. We are both worthy of it above all else, you and I." The finest tea in the world was indeed ultimately deserved, and it brought joy to her heart that Elisabeth was familiar with the status it had, or once had, in the world. Raising it to her lips it brought nostalgia in its wake, complimented with the tanginess of the lemon. "Mmmm. MMMMM!!! Gods above and gods below, how I've missed this!" She giggled excitedly, nearly choking with the elderly phlegm in her throat.[break][break]

The feeling of nostalgia heightened with the underboss's question, bringing her to look around at the decorum of the tea house guided by the indication of her hand. "It was quite peaceful, I dreamt of it every night when I was behind bars," she said softly, sipping on the herbal concoction, ".. the things I would have given to get my tea house back, oh, I craved it so often. I miss it a lot, it was and is my passion, and it makes me miss when I was young and beautiful just as you are." Though she was already on one when it came to rambling and oversharing, she felt the urge to keep going, painting blurred pictures of what it was like within her psyche.[break][break]

"It was beautiful, being a high-class tea house owner, freshly married, scratching the surface of the white collars. If I'd gotten away with what I did, I'm sure it would have been one of the most successful tea houses in the world, not just Johto! So fun, and so endearing to be able to share my passion for tea leaves and their fragrant aromas and tastes with the world, mmm. It was lost with time and arsenic, but if I could go back to my twenties, I would in a heartbeat. Over here, though, and definitely in the name of Team Rocket, yes!" She rambled and rambled, taking sips of the brilliant tea to fill the gaps.

The few weeks in between her previous exposure to such advanced technologies and the present felt much longer than it truly had been, though it was also something she dreamed about every night when tucking herself in. Being able to walk without a cane, even in a seemingly artificial world, was something money couldn't buy; just loyalty and curiosity, hand in hand with her newfound open mind. Following in the footsteps of her younger counterpart, walking slowly to feel the breeze of the desert and the fragments of sand, she listened intently to the words of the workers unfurl from their tongues. [break][break]

It was all so cryptic, so before her time, so odd. Eyes met with the pulsating chunk of violet and pulsating veins for a moment, Marilyn soon giggled as the ultramodernist expressed such force upon the boulders. "You heard her, go show the rocks our kind of fuck you," she commanded her Flutter Mane, clasping her hands together, ".. a star from the heavens, harnessing its power. It's so outlandish and crude, a strange thing to wish to covet!" Spurting fire from a manifestation in front of it, the ghost type was quick to release a beam of MYSTICAL FIRE onto the boulders on the other side of the woman as she kicked.[break][break]

She clapped at the sight, the type to play along in all the obscurity presented within the simulation.

Unfortunately, spitting on the graves of those she viciously detested was seen to be unacceptable to wandering eyes. All Marilyn wished for was to hock a loogie on all those headstones representing those she once saw as friends, the poor, unfortunate souls that had met their demise during her stay in prison; the people that never sought to visit her after she was relocated. Grudges ran deep into her veins as did a sense of superiority simply gained by being able to outlive them all, and damn did it feel good to walk past their covered remains, imagining the bones that resided deep below.[break][break]

She walked whimsically down the route, cane meeting the wisping blades of grass below with a grin manifested upon her cheeks. Humming as she pressed the button upon her POKEBALL, the curious companion generously gifted to her by Elisabeth Fiorelli emerged. A Flutter Mane, the reports called it. Ample training and exposure to relaxing tea leaf smog brought it to peace, at least, temporarily; it was a hostile creature by nature but seemed to enjoy long walks when exposed to such things, all the more mysterious. But she loved it, as she above all else felt as if she could relate to such temperament.[break][break]

As the two walked, a woman who appeared to be paying her respects wandered into her gaze. "Hi dear," she called out to her softly, slowly walking up with a smile upon her wrinkled cheeks, ".. you've got quite the youthful look, it's simply divine. Are you in mourning? I'd hate to interrupt, though it gets lonely on these walks sometimes, yes, yes." Due to her lack of access to technology for all those years, Marilyn was unaware of the existence of the newer generation of Galarian royals, simply believing her to be an ordinary citizen. Regardless, in her words was an implied invitation for an innocent walk and talk, as she wished for a plus one.

☆ A practice Marilyn picked up during her lengthy five-decade prison sentence, once a month she makes an effort to create a hand-knitted present to someone dear to her- or perhaps some that are not, as long as they left an impression. Often scented yarns extremely soft to the touch, they are made with love, delivered by postage or in person with a handwritten letter. Granny Mari always wishes for those that recieve her gifts to bask in them and spends hours making sure they are perfect. [break]

OCTOBER | to MATIAS SILPH
Sent by an unknown sender with no return address is a box that smells of expensive perfume and cheese curds; this is addressed to MATIAS SILPH, and delivered to the Hoenn Pokemon League facility. Inside the box is a hand knitted extremely long scarf in the colors of black and red, which if unfurled, has delicately stitched text to depict: I GOT GOT BY THE BADDEST GILF IN HOENN.

Attached is a handwritten letter, which again, does not indicate who has sent it. It reads:

"Dear MATIAS SILPH,
Remember how you told me "If you know you know"? I still don't quite understand what you alluded to, but I wish to inform you once again that I never leave empty-handed. I did some research in the lingo you young ones know and used that knowledge to stitch out the text on your brand-new scarf! I hope to see you wear it when we meet again on the battlefield, or perhaps at your open casket funeral. Best of luck, dear!

NOVEMBER | to Elisabeth Fiorelli
Delivered in a heart-shaped box with the return address to an apartment in Sootopolis is a gift addressed to Elisabeth Fiorelli, explicitly marked to be from MARILYN HASEGAWA. Inside is a large, fluffy hand-knitted blanket in the colors of a brilliant, leafy green, with crochet flowers attached plentifully, and a matching scent of jasmine flowers. The flowers are attached in a circle, which in the inside of the shape is a teardrop shape of a fierce magenta.

Attached is a handwritten letter. It reads:

"Dear Elisabeth Fiorelli,
I wanted to send this as a thank you gift for meeting me at the teahouse the other day, I got to work on it the second I got home! From one poisoner to another, I wanted to let you know that everything you bring to the world and the table is simply divine. You are a blessing given to the world, and do not let anyone ever tell you otherwise. I will forever look forward to working at your side when the situation calls for it, dear. You are an angel!

Substance was provided not by his following words he wished to speak, but by a draconic emissary of the interdream mist below. Watching as it slammed into the Altaria with widened eyes, Marilyn sighed as the Elite Four member dipped from the clouds— how disappointing. The help that he spoke of was lost in the winds, unable to keep up with the newfound speed he’d acquired on his mount. It was a mystery in her mind what he had truly meant, frustration lining her wrinkles and cracks.[break][break]

For one said not to jest, his following proclamation proved just as vague as it did unreliable. Fingers tapping against the mask sprawled against her face, Marilyn had no clue what it was that he alluded to. Perhaps it was due to their difference in age, her unfamiliarity with the lingo that the younger generations held dear to themselves; she could not help but assume his motive. [break][break]

"And here I thought you'd sell me some information to wreck your comrades for your life, or perhaps a large sum of coin," she said with an aged gargle in her voice, ".. I have to laugh. Is what you refer to that of a green gown?"[break][break]

Laugh she would, as what she assumed to be his plea was quite pathetic. "Maidenless behavior. I am quite aged, like a fine wine. Speak directly and I won't have your tongue, or perhaps an eye. I've always loved eyes, and I never leave empty-handed."

"Surely, you jest." She said, an eyebrow raised at his response. There was doubt in what Matias presented, for she had absolutely no clue as to what a member of the Elite Four could help with in her endeavors. But Marilyn was curious just what would come out of his mouth; sure, there were members of Team Rocket that would simply spit in his face and continue trying to kill him. However, she considered herself more of a subsidiary than a die-hard, one to indulge in the perks of her allegiance interwoven in her motives rather than carrying out orders without benefit.[break][break]

The fun she was having with drawing it out could be drawn out for quite some time, theorizing that if she could wrap him around her finger by simply listening, it could prove fruitful results. "What is it you're bringing to the table, then?" She asked curiously, eyes zoning in to absorb any and every move he would soon be to take. If he was just trying to distract her, she wasn't going to fall for it, as she'd learned her lesson in that regard in prison tenfold.

Marilyn was well aware of just how frail she was, but his words brought a laugh to her wrinkled, crusted cheeks. It was a fate designed for those with an inability to accept death looming by their doors; so much to fight for, so much time lost to make up for. But being wise was said to be brought with age, and she wished to use her self-proclaimed massive brain to her advantage, even if her physical capabilities were definitely lacking.[break][break]

"Just picking up where I left off," she said with a smile, wind releasing her hair from the bun downward, ".. I've got some grudges against the universe, against systems and people that brought shackles to my arms! Wanting to make up for the five decades I lost, mmm." As she spoke there was a dreaminess, a lightheartedness in her eyes. Almost as if she were speaking to anyone on the streets, despite the scuff they had previously endured. The Golurk braced itself with an IRON DEFENSE, quite confused as to why she hadn't commanded another strike.
