Bruno held out his large hands to guard himself from the SEED FLARE, and it worked... for awhile. But with each consecutive hit from the SEED FLARE, cracks formed in Bruno's PROTECT. He simply wasn't strong enough.[break][break]

The barrier broke, and with nothing to defend him, his body received a heavy slap from the SEED FLARE.[break][break]

If they wanted to win, they had to give it their all now.[break][break]

In a last ditch effort, the swampert called forth what energy he had left to fire a HYDRO PUMP towards the shaymin. He was weakened, barely standing--but he wasn't done just yet.[break][break]

Nabi felt there was little they could do against a pokemon with such speed. Growing up, she had always been told speed was the deciding factor in battle, though know she could truly experience in-person with pokemon on the field. Even with her trained eyes, watching for the zeraora's movements was difficult. She could only imagine how much worse it would be for her swampert.[break][break]

Bruno made his attempt. His pupils keyed in on the speedy feline at one point, and then he was gone the next. Before he knew it, the zeraora was underneath him, spry and stealthy. Bruno felt a rush of the BOUNCE attack knock against his chin, making him bite down and send him falling back. And now that the zeraora was in the air, hitting it had become even harder.[break][break]

"We're not giving up yet," Nabi whispered to herself for encouragement. "Cover the field in a MUDDY WATER - trap it!"[break][break]

While his opponent was still airborne, Bruno summoned waves of brown, dirty-looking water to spread across the arena, weaving his arms around to push it back and forth and hopefully catch the zeraora in its currents when it return to land.[break][break]

It was a complete upset. Bruno fell victim to the DRAGON HAMMER and lost all consciousness. With nothing more to do, Nabi returned her swampert to his pokeball and paid her respect to Barnaby for his victory, though she had very little to say outside of that.[break][break]

However, as she walked away in full defeat, Nabi could not help but feel utterly crushed, and she knew Bruno felt the same.

Nabi's shoulder tingled at Yumi Hasegawa's touch. She raised her head slowly, the tip of her nose dusted in a bit of snow from the ground. "Sorry, sorry," she said, clearing her throat, and stood onto her feet. She noted the cubchoo by Yumi's side and gave it a small nod as a greeting.[break][break]

"I haven't started yet, actually," she said, green eyes darting to the creation Yumi was working on. At that moment, another woman entered the scene, her puffy coat and white leggings immediately scoring points with Nabi. Mei Liu was yet another beauty with her dark, aysemmtrical hair and fair skin. She easily matched Yumi's grace and eloquence. Meanwhile, Nabi, despite feeling confident in her own looks and fashion sense, felt like a child amongst real women.[break][break]

"Nabi," she replied to Mei Liu, unsure of how familiar she should make herself with the stranger. The sight of another snowball making contact with the back of someone's head yet again shocked Nabi and earned a stifled giggle from her.[break][break]

Her glance followed the direction of Mei Liu's snowball toward ollie morales, immediately recognizing him as the man that gave the speech.[break][break]

Quickly, she packed tight a snowball, one bigger than the size of her own palm, and this time, aimed it directly for ollie morales as he was clearly the target of everyone.[break][break]

"I guess this kind of event gets a lot of attention, huh?" she spoke out loud to Yumi Hasegawa and Mei Liu. "Your snowboys might be in trouble if this turns into an all-out war."[break][break]

Oh. Yes, of course! Nabi knew her purpose now, the reason she had ended up here.[break][break]

She closed a fist and held a hand to her hip. "Don't worry, Miss Yumi. I will protect yours and Miss Mei's snowboy, even if it costs my life."[break][break]

The MUDDY WATER may have succeeded, but it simply wasn't enough. The giant melmetal was a force to be reckoned with, practically an immovable stone that Bruno's powers could not match. It stung for both Nabi and Bruno to see their efforts were barely making a difference.[break][break]

And despite its size, it moved faster than either of them could have anticipated for. Bruno only has time to raise his arms up for defense when the melmetal's icy fists made contact. One--two![break][break]

"SUPERSONIC, now!" Nabi called with urgency present in her voice. Now was the perfect time to try and throw the melmetal off its guard![break][break]

While they were still in close contact, Bruno let his voice do the work and sang out the ear-splitting SUPERSONIC.[break][break]

His plan hadn't worked, and even with the HYDRO PUMP, the beedrill was quick to shake it off. Meanwhile, Bruno was already on one knee, feeling the affects of the POISON JAB as it slowly fed on his health.[break][break]

The swampert couldn't simply shake the POISON off like his opponent had, and he was clearly inferior in speed. The truth irritated him. Once again, Bruno fired off HYDRO PUMP after HYDRO PUMP, deciding it was best to go all out than to strategize. He couldn't quite hear his own trainer telling him otherwise in the background.[break][break]

"Tch." Terrastilization. That wasn't going to fare well for her and Bruno now with his typing advantage taken out of the game.[break][break]

Bruno couldn't react fast enough with the incineroar pushing right through his HYDRO PUMP. He felt an elbow strike his chin first, then a leg or knee at his chest. The ACROBATICS was successful in knocking Bruno a few feet from the bipedal's position. And here Nabi had thought she could win this one. She should have known better than to judge a book by its cover.[break][break]

"Quick, MUD SHOT!"[break][break]

The swampert rolled to get his body back up. As he did so, he inhaled, opened his mouth, and instead of water, now it was a mud-induced current headed straight for the incineroar.[break][break]

"What an adorable little pikachu," Nabi cooed when she saw ollie morales approach. It seemed a very fitting pokemon for the man she was about to face. Speaking of which, it had taken her a moment, but after closely examining his face with a quietness, Nabi determined she recognized him from somewhere. "The snowboys," she said with a finger held at her bottom lip. "I know you. You threw the snowball." Granted, so did she.[break][break]

Lightning broke through the sky, its echo so shaking, Nabi flinched and raised her head. This match, she decided then, was against her. It was like a sign from fate telling her they were cheering for the cute mouse pokemon.[break][break]

"Wanna make a deal?" she then said to Ollie. "If I win, I get to punch you in the face." The swampert next to her grunted, confused, and yet... motivated to win.

Starting off with a DOUBLE TEAM was quick thinking on her opponent's part. What's more, using a LICK was a great way to leave Bruno in a shocked state. Already, the increased number of enemies was too much for him to quickly process and avoid. When the froakie suddenly had its tongue against his cheek, Bruno felt a chill crawl up his spine.[break][break]

"C'mon, Bruno, use your MUD SHOT!"[break][break]

The swampert slapped his violated cheek to regain himself. Before the froakie could gain too much distance between them, he aimed a wet MUD SHOT at the small frog. His movements seemed slower than usual...[break][break]

Bruno must have felt invincible against the opposing beedrill. She moved in quickly, her poisoned barbs armed and deadly, yet the swampert did not react with fear. He dodged the first of the POISON JABS, but on the second, he felt the beedrill's strike against his arm, and then the rest followed seamlessly, hitting his body multiple times.[break][break]

Nabi clenched her fist. She hadn't reacted fast enough. And she should have known better--Shalin had already proven herself to be a well-equipped trainer that had built a strong bond with her pokemon.[break][break]

"HYDRO PUMP, Bruno!" Nabi ordered.[break][break]

While the beedrill was still within reach, Bruno attempted to reach out and grab the bug by one of her limbs to keep her in close range of a full-frontal HYDRO PUMP, though if he missed out on his chance to secure her, he would shoot the torrent of water from his mouth, regardless.[break][break]

Bruno's head cocked back and forth and side to side when the zeraora suddenly launched himself into an AGILITY, immediately throwing the swampert off. That was one fast pokemon.[break][break]

"Stay cool, Bruno!" Nabi tried to reassure her pokemon before they already lost the battle. "Keep your guard up--hit it with a ROCK SLIDE!"[break][break]

Hearing his trainer's voice, Bruno refocused himself and did as commanded. Several rocks of varying sizes appeared around his body, hovering in motion. To the best of his ability (though perhaps with a little bit of a trigger finger), he released rock after rock in an attempt to hit what he believed to be the zeraora's form.[break][break]

Their opponent was an abomasnow; not the best of match-ups, if Nabi was being completely honest to herself. She hoped Bruno could pull through the adversity.[break][break]

At the sound of the match beginning, she wasted no time in giving the first call. "First, a MUD SHOT!"[break][break]

Plain and simple, with no added strategy to make the attack anymore than what it was--an attack. The swampert slammed one hand flat against the ground to signal the oncome of his MUD SHOT before piloting a stream of icky mud from his mouth.[break][break]

Just as Bruno hoped, the opposing bewear was strong, easily crushing the boulders from his ROCK SLIDE with a heightened attack of his own. Bruno was neither intimidated nor bothered by the bewear's SUPERPOWER - at least, mentally.[break][break]

He found himself on the other end of his ROCK SLIDE attack now, thanks to the SUPERPOWER. The ground shook, and with it, the shattered pieces of his rocks recoiled back at high speeds. Bruno felt their sharp edges slice against his slimy exterior. Slimy or not, it dealt its damage.[break][break]

Nabi tried to follow Bruno's enthusiasm, despite the loss, and quickly followed with the next set of commands. "HYDRO PUMP!"[break][break]

Bruno shook his body, pounded his fists against the ground, and opened his mouth to release the ultimate water-type attack.[break][break]
