Lucas' eyes widen for a split second when asked if he too was here for Jirachi. Here to capture it. "Not quite" he says, putting on a fake smile and a light laugh. He does this to keep the mood light, to mask his mixed intentions. As he hears victor evans his expression turns sour for a moment, looking daggers towards the man. "I wouldn't put much thought into what he says, trust me." He thought Victor's words insincere, an attempt to get under his skin knowing their last encounter.

Upon entering the tower with Conrad by his side Lucas is taken aback. He wasn't sure what he expected to find, but it certainly wasn't what he saw. As others set out to lighting the braziers he found his attention elsewhere. Shattered pieces of crystal cover the floorboards, leading in the direction of the staircase. Bending over he picks up a shard no bigger than his thumb. He turns it over in his hand, mystified by it. Why was it here, and what was it? As if in a trance Lucas pours all his attention towards the crystal, only breaking free as the braziers are lit. He slides the crystal into his right pocket, glancing around quickly as he does so.

As the flames engulf the room unnaturally Lucas' hand flies to his belt, within seconds a claydol materializing at the center of the sandstorm. "Hopefully up" he says to Conrad. "Geb, teleport us over there!" With his left arm he points towards the top of the staircase and towards the sliding door. Covering his mouth with his right hand Lucas proceeds to cough violently from the smoke. The pair and their pokemon begin to flicker as the artificial pokemon attempts to teleport them away.

Lucas leaps to the left as the hydro pump flies at the duo. Glaceon does the same but too late, the attack collides with its hind legs. A loud cry pierces the air and whimpers follow. Standing up was a battle, one which the ice type gave up on as it collapses against the snow. The fight wasn't over yet however. Another blizzard rages across the archaeological site. Arms cover the faces of the grunts who struggle to stand up straight against the ferocious winds. Seismitoad is lost on what to do, the words coming from its trainer's mouth are garbled and lost in the wind. It stands there, a worried expression on its face. The last time it disobeyed its trainer it received a thrashing, a frightening memory. Attacking without direction weren't an option here either, as they might hit its trainer. Another frightening thought.

Under the mask of the blizzard Kabutops creeps into the archaeology site. Its footsteps are inaudible over the howling winds. Over time the blizzard fades in sync with the glaceon's strength, lasting a surprising while. The prehistoric pokemon notices the two grunts. They're only five feet away, a distance closed in two long strides. Before either of the men notice the blizzard has come to a halt they each find a sickle to their throats. Both their eyes are wide, one man yells in fright while the other keeps their composure.

Standing Lucas brushes snow off himself, eyes taking in the scene. Neither grunt moved nor did their pokemon. Icicles hung from the fainted torterra's branches while the seismitoad was frozen from fright. He throws his head to the side at the sound of trotting, looking towards the source. "Are these the last of them or what?" Straight to the point. Lucas could guess that Julian wouldn't be over here unless he was done on his end.

He didn't notice the sword pokemon at first. It was hidden under the dark of night and floated above the ground, making no sound at all. Only once it moved into the moonlight did the collector take notice. A hand flies to his belt instantly, pulling away a pokeball. In a flash of light the most recent addition to Lucas' collection appears. "Geb earth power!" The clay doll pokemon's body shimmered with a faint yellow light as he felt the ground beneath him rumble. Chunks of frozen earth are lifted into the air within seconds, snow falling off at the edges. They fly through the cool night air colliding with the ghost type, pinning it to the ground.

Lucas couldn't hear any signs of struggle. With an underhand throw a pokeball soars through the air.

Stars set and stars rose as he moves through the snow. Each step he takes makes a crunch as the snow breaks beneath them. It breaks the ominous silence of the route. The water that borders it is far off, little more than a faint whisper when he stops to listen. Pulling his scarf upwards and wool hat down Lucas found himself jealous. Jealous of the trainers with fire type pokemon to keep them warm on these harsh winter days. But more than that he was jealous of people, both past and present, that knew things he yearned to know. Felt that he deserved to know.

He moves in unison with the rest of the league members as they make their way off the boat. Several of the faces were familiar to him, having caught glimpses of them at the ball. Both their names and motives for coming were unknown to him. Some came to do what is right, to ensure the Jirachi's safety he thought. While others he knew might have more, selfish reasons for attending despite being league members. Lucas knew all too well the temptations that would likely plague others. He wasn't the only one that had heard the legends of the wish granting pokemon.

Selfish thoughts plague his mind as he'd release a Glaceon to walk alongside him. What if he were able to get to the kidnapped Jirachi before the others? Would he, should he make a wish? Did the league have a wish in mind? Were the legends even true? Questions race through his head. Some he knew he shouldn't be thinking, much less voicing to others. He does his best to push them to the back of his head till the time comes, and to instead focus at the task at hand.

A head of white hair in the crowd catches his eye. He could never forget seeing it back in those dark tunnels. "A perfect distraction" he thought to himself. Pushing through the crowd he makes his way towards priam conrad . "Conrad, Conrad." His hand falls on the boy's shoulder. "What are you doing here? You shouldn't be here you know." He lightly chastises the boy, knowing this was no place for someone of his age.

Lucas found himself at the shrine after extensive badgering from his coworkers to go. He shouldn't enter the new year with "bad karma" or something they told him. That he should stop being so stiff. Waiting in line he can be seen adjusting his scarf, pulling it up to help keep warm.

As his turn to make his wish finally came he found himself not knowing what to write. Looking towards what others wrote he spots cait alfric 's paper tag. Eyes roll. It was so, cliche. Tapping the pencil against the stone it would be several moments until he wrote his own wish. He wrote slowly in cursive, producing clean and exquisite handwriting.

"I wish to know more about avatars."

The paper tag is placed beside the one he'd read minutes prior. There was a sharp contrast between the two. One wish being for the good of others, and the other for oneself.

Eyes widen for a slight moment as Alexei mentions the region's native legendary pokemon. He too was interested in the trio. Reaching towards his phone to show the man a related picture he'd stop. Deciding not to show the findings to the stranger. Lucas' eagerness to share them almost got the better of him.

"Well, now that you mention it I might follow suit. Read a bit about Raquaza as well. I'm very interested when it comes to history." That was a severe understatement on his part. "Now this may sound silly, and ignore it if it is, but have you read about some space virus? Back when I was a student I heard this rumor, and was wondering if it had any substance, any truth to it." He was referring to the virus that supposedly came to create the DNA pokemon Deoxys.

"Oh I hear you" he says with disdain, sympathizing with the fanatic. "They're just here to make a quick buck." Lucas' head turns to look around as Alexei points out the lack of workers. "We could check the front, if you want. Don't know how much help they'll be, though."

Lucas rolls his eyes. The man was a reckless and cocky fire type fanatic, just the type of person he enjoyed least. Visible scarring on their face did little to reassure him. He remained silent as they walked, a slight nod and "uh huh" the only indication he was listening to the blonde. When the magmar materializes from a ball he places several feet between it and him. He quite liked the way his face looked now, without any scarring from fire types.

Startled of the Ariados' venom Lucas finds himself slipping on the ice, falling on his back with a thud of his head. Despite this his head shoots upwards to look towards the poison type. Pushing past the pain a hand flies to his belt. It stops abruptly at Arnie's cry, his fingers laying on the cold surface of a pokeball. Several curses escape Lucas' mouth as he'd begin to get himself up, they were little more than a whisper. Feet slide and his hands shoot out towards the wall for support.

"You could of told me she wasn't the sit and wait type" Lucas grumbles. He held a broken piece of ice to his head in an attempt to soothe the pain. Eyes narrow as he watches the spider pokemon. He didn't trust it in the slightest, one hand hovering above his belt in case it tried something. "Does she have any other pokemon I should be worried about?" He can feel the cold of the ice seep through his black glove, making it uncomfortable to hold.

Lucas reaches into the crate, carefully lifting the last scientific instrument out. Placing it on the metal counter it joins the rest of his findings from the cavern. They're neatly lined up and evenly spaced, each one cleaned of any ice or grime found on it. He checks off the last item from the list on his wooden clipboard, placing it on the edge of the counter. Two white plastic gloves are taken from a cardboard container. He slides them onto his hands as he makes his way back to the center counter.

He begins to inspect each instrument. Rotating each in his hands he looks for the manufacturers. Watching for a pattern. Any findings or abnormalities in each piece would be logged into the single computer in the lab. Finally he reaches the apparatus resembling a sewing machine. Sitting at the end of the counter it's easy for Lucas to move himself around it, looking at the device from each side. Leaning forward to get a closer look at times. He was unsure of its purpose, hoping that a manufacturer's label might shed light on it.

"Huh." Lucas ponders for a moment about whether or not to allow the boyfriend to help. "Well I guess you ca-" he stops mid-sentence as he realizes the man went on without him. Apparently whatever he would have said wasn't going to act as a deterrent for the man. It was frustrating to know that they didn't care to listen to him.

Running through the path created by the man and his mamoswine Lucas rushed towards the mouth of the cave. His ninetales did the same. "Hey hey hey, be more careful" he chides. "Do you want it to know we're here?" An assumption is made about the captor, that they're acting alone. The carelessness of the man is unbelievable to Lucas. Riding directly up to the cave on the loud mamoswine. Then going in alone even. He had to run a ways in the cave to catch up to him. It left him tired, taking deep breaths as he walks. "How'd you hear about her being missing anyway?" The words come between several deep breaths. As far as he knew the woman's identity hadn't been known, not even to the league.

Lucas found Conrad's method of administering the ability capsule, rather childish. He hadn't reassured the espeon, prepped it for the injection. Instead creating a stressful situation for the psychic type. It was something he'd expect a young child to do, not a teenager. He doesn't voice these thoughts, instead silently judging the boy.

"Huh?" There's a slight pause. "Don't worry about it." He walks over to the apparatus encased in ice. It was something he'd never seen before. Could this be a key component in understanding what happened to the glalie? A million thoughts were going through his head. "I know a few ways to get them out of here." As he says the words he turns, flashing a fake smile. "The wonders of knowing people with teleporting pokemon." Pacing around the room he continues to observe what was abandoned, leaving a momentary silence between the two.
