She kind of hopes not, though - something about the other also makes her rather feel distrust than safety, but perhaps, she is quite wrong on that, too. Still clenching her fist and teeth as she looks over the wreckage, paralysed by what she is witnessing after the battle is over, she only wakes to move as a Zigzagoon shuffles by her feet - in fear or in comfort, it's hard to say as it's gone before she can fully realise what is happening. What she does fully realise is the fact that she isn't quite so alone anymore. Or maybe, never has been, as humans and Pokémon shuffle all around to help with clearing the debris and rebuild what can be. Only she remains useless, until now.[break]

There is surprise - but also relief seeing someone familiar, someone she has wanted to hit up quite badly, but got caught up in something that feels mundane now. Homework ... school projects ... Hm. Her thoughts are muddy, something between teenage rebellion and logical retreat. To the sheriff, she offers somewhat of a smile right now as she nods, "I thought you're in Dewford? I keep seeing you in places that are not." The air feels a little less burdensome to breathe as she speaks what isn't cussing the world, though she is still lacking perspective.[break]

"My name? It's Vespa - Vespa Baskerville," she offers then, though at the same time wondering whether or not it's an insignificant thing to share, "and we're ... fine. We weren't here, after all. I just got to know about it, to be honest." Frustration swings within her voice, quivering a little and so unlike the fierce existence she's used to mask as. Instead, there is a little more exhaustion coming through as she looks at the emerald sky glistening in the water and waves. "Can I help you with something?" It's more of a plea than an offer - a plea, than a request.

It seems that defiance leads only to this outcome - run, run, run! It's cool in the sense that she has thought about making a run for it, anyway, but it's less cool as she feels trapped in one of those Horror RPGs that have chase sequences that she always gets jumpscared at. "Y-yeah, but also like, the heck - aliens?!" What the heck is this scenario even about?! Some dystopian future, maybe? But ... that is really an odd one for sure. Or maybe, it'll be how their descendants will have to live like (not 'hers' in particular, though).[break]

Blinking at their new recruit (?), it only takes a few moments for the brass to adjust to this unexpected situation - after all, this one is a familiar one and they bring the right spirit to the table! Sure, adjusting their formation to seven total is no big deal, and might even turn out for some good fighting stances later ... It never hurts to have a wildcard, especially with Vespa's ever-expanding creativity. And once the brass has taken to the newcomer, the troopers are quickly to follow, some giving the Cutiefly a welcoming, friendly smile of recognition.[break]

Having caught her composure much faster than Cassandra, Vespa is only shaking her whole body in an attempt to shake off any wetness, but ... lo and behold, she feels quite dry despite it all. The picture is yet flickering brightly in her mind, one gruesome scenario following the next as it seems. "This is a such a whack show ..." she mutters to herself, looking over to her friend as she tilts her head in question, "did it know ... what?"[break]

Perhaps, she gets to know the answer - or perhaps not, as the yelling of two people overthrows their conversation. Two marvellous dragons atop the skies, with one person by each their sides. Huh ... "Well, should I make a powerpoint on what I think of the truth?" Vespa is quick to joke as she notices the discomfort of Cassandra, hoping to lighten the mood. In the end, however, it's not like she ever stuck to the truth as closely - in the end, it's all just hoax and treason, depending on how well one's reason is.

Correctly assessing that maybe, this is not the day that she will fight and win against Kyogre, left alone God, Vespa does do a little reasonable of a thing in retreating - at least changing her attempted offence to a purely defensive stance, using each of the five troopers with their brass spearheading the protection efforts.[break]

"Everyone still okay?" the young student shouts over the raging waves, looking back to the soldiers and her friend doing all the work and effort, combining what they can to protect (minus Pic, that smeargle - he better have captured her in a heroic pose). "I think it's - is it retreating?"

The Grookey, all too happy about the poke returned, swings his wooden stick around excitedly, tapping on a few of the surfaces around him with glee. At least he hasn't hit a head just yet, so Vespa regards him with a fond look rather than that of budding concern. In fact, it's hard to stay focused on just a single thing with so much to discover and explore. Surely, her professors could give her a dry-bread-ed lecture on whatever may be happening behind, but she's much more of a hands-on learner. Or that's what she's thinking this moment.[break]

"Uh-huh," she remarks affirmatively to Shalin's question, "what are those again? And ... like, do you have two, then? Is that kind of a super power?" This time around, Vespa doesn't intend to hold back on any questions she has - it feels too good of an opportunity to pass on. "Also, is that only me or are some of your Pokémon ... kind of ... bigger? Than usual?"

To be honest, she has never so much as ridden something like a Ponyta or Rapidash in her life - it simply never came to it and she found her interests somewhere else. Thus, it's probably quite a stretch to start from zero to this, but it's a challenge she is nonetheless willing to undertake as she watches how Josh lifts off the ground with his partner, Ao. Looking a little unsure yet determined at Yueliang, they are soon to follow. And hey, Vespa didn't fall off! Yet. Probably never. She definitely makes sure to stay on top of the game- and never look down ...[break]

Listening to Josh's instructions rather than awaits her several feet under, she has a firm grip on the reins - unfortunately, there is no land Pokémon experience to draw from, but her gamer moments will have to do - it does feel familiar in the sense that she played a couple games with such mechanics, even as the controls are buttons and joysticks rather than an actual Pokémon with reins. But he's the champion out of them here, so who to trust if not him? "Gotchu - err, so we wanna go over there, right? So ... up ...!" she remarks out loud before muttering to herself, looking at the reins and then at the goal. Slowly moving, Yueliang first descends before she - wide-eyed as it goes - tightens the reins a little, getting them onto a more level position. And now she has to ... slowly, she adds pressure to urge the paradox Pokémon to ascend, eyes following where Josh is to ensure that they wouldn't get lost in the skies.

It has been looking to be quite a peaceful day at the Baskerville home. Although considerations have to be made in light of the recent events of ... ice cream theft. Repeatedly, the young student has found their fridge to be ravaged of the sweet reliefs amidst the last hints of simmering summer heat, leaving her to the ventilator only to find some colder vibes. It's a mystery she has been thoroughly investigating, but to no avail. But ... oh, well, summer is almost over, so soon, she wouldn't have to think about it much anymore.[break]

Or so Vespa thought ...[break]

Deciding to buy one last popsicle to celebrate the end of summer, saying goodbye to its heat waves and all, she sits outside, enjoying the view of the Grookey diligently singing to the berry plants, so they may grow nice and healthy, until ... It feels like déjà-vu, seeing a shadow sneak upon the plants. Uh-oh. Not on her watch. Giving Sun a warm smile as she passes him by on her way to fend off the gardens. Uneaten popsicle in one hand and the Squad's pokéball in another, she approaches whatever it may be ... until she has no popsicle no more. Turning around, she stares blankly at the wildly cackling and happily munching Misdreavus, who has seized the popsicle without a second thought or a moment of hesitation, slurping up every drop of the chilly threat in one go.[break]

Looking at the Ghost type and the last remainder of wood of the popsicle ... "Wait, did you raid our fridge the whole time? Cheeky gremlin," she huffs out in displeasure, but there is a hint of a smile on her face however, just as she picks up another pokéball - empty this time. "Let's be friends, shall we?" And fortunately, the Misdreavus doesn't seem to disagree - rushing towards the pokéball, maybe thinking it to be another icy treat. Maybe Vespa should stock up on ice cream after all?
