His words are ... melancholic, in a way. Thoughtful in a sense that she only encounters so often, when she brazenly blazes through her life in confident strides (and falls on her face, often enough). It makes her wonder what kind of life he led, what isn't verbalised and immortalised in the way of articles in the internet and in press media. It makes her wonder ... "Will I learn to speak cryptically, too, when I grow up?" That'd be kind of funny, though, she wonders if she'd ever make it through a life like his. "Oh, sounds fair enough, though, with Dewford and all. Do you like being a sheriff?" Right. Right. She also has to gather intel on professional obsessions![break]

The Grookey, however, is as much of a distraction as ever, and it warms her heart to see the Urshifu treat the silly being with kindness, too, eliciting a happy noise from him as he leans further over to accept the headpat. Vespa has to hold out a hand in case he'd slip from her shoulder, to keep him safe and sound.[break]

And, there he goes again. Words she'd probably frame. Maybe she should. "So you want to be bored?" she asks, curiosity in her voice. Just what is it that people other than her are going through? Is this what one would call ... sonder?

Relief is clearly filling the student's eyes when, indeed the other turns out to be a capable ranger, sporting something she also quite hasn't seen before. "Uh ... my name is Vespa Baskerville? But - err - very glad to see you, I mean it," she fumbles a little over her words, not quite knowing if there even is anything she can do. Which - well, she voices as much. "Can I ... help, maybe? I don't know if I have anyone that can help, but - oh, err ..."[break]

Although she isn't the biggest fan of it, it might turn out to be useful for now, so she calls for the Ditto on her team, one that only glances at her briefly before turning into the flying Yanmega. It's always quite so quick to change shapes, it's making her roll her eyes, but there is a soft expression on her face before turning to the ranger once more. "... Would that be helpful? Uh, strength also in numbers ...?" Meanwhile, the Falinks are doing their best to keep the swarm of Bruxish at bay, distracted from the collapsing structure behind them.

Truthfully, Vespa doesn't exactly have a clue how she ended up on Mt. Pyre, only that she did and that it happened with a notebook in tow. Some kind of research project for school, maybe ...? Or just ... her own curiosity, desiring to search the unknown, climb the unknown. And, also. She is kind of looking for someone. "Naaaaaathaaaaaan!" she yells on the top of her lungs, looking around, squinting. The chances that a Wooper would have made its way here are ridiculously low, but she's taking her chances.
