Upon hearing what the other's reply is, there is a small rise of her lips visible, a smirk almost - at least he isn't here to sell her any weird dreams that she has neither storage nor actual motivation for. Multiplying zero with zero nets a total worth of ... zero, after all. It feels like there is more to it, too - especially considering the many scars she's now noticing. Not exactly the poster guy of rainbow and sunshine, she would guess. Hmm ... "That seems fair," she remarks with a nod, "so ... do you like Ever Grande more or Slateport? Coming all the way here."[break]

She is almost inclined to ask more about his brother, too, but before she can properly weigh the pro's and con's of asking versus looking it up on the internet, her gaze is directed to the Grookey on her shoulder, noticing he must be mentioned and looking over to the other with a wide smile, offering his wooden stick in way of greeting - a handshake. It immediately softens her stubborn features a little, just as she turns back to the Elite Four. "Sun - the name's Sun. He's a little idiot," she says, with much affection in her voice as she pokes his nose. "And that is ...?" she looks over to the Urshifu. She never saw one before ... "Isn't handing out flyers boring for them? Or, also, like, for you."

Loitering around after school is over is quite - nice, in a way. At least on a hot summer day that doesn't allow her to stay inside and do anything like handling her laptop or tablet without begging her father's Abomasnow to cool things down a bit (and risk a frozen laptop, but that's okay!). At least this activity gives her the opportunity to look around and just absorb whatever Slateport City is offering while she is here because honestly, she doesn't know where she will be in a year. In a month, even! Hah, just kidding, she's probably still crunching exams or something like that. But a year? So long, so short ...[break]

Just as she shivers in thought of the future (and less so because of the weather), her eyes catch onto something ... strange. Peculiar, even. It's a figure she thinks she might have seen around more often. And/or on some news of any kind. But this ... err. She furrows her eyebrows, walking over to the stranger, with Grookey sitting on her shoulders, looking curiously. "Uhm ... does that count as public disturbance, by any chance?" Well, she is kind of disturbed. (But the Mabosstiff is cute, though!)

Eyes wander, going back to the stranger as she regains her sense (as far as possible, anyway), pausing and looking at the other that has dropped a few names Vespa will attempt to learn. Once she has registered the ... well, the first part. Waiting yet for the ranger to finish their question, she still has to gather a few more moments before words drop out of her mouth, "... sinking a little bit?"[break]

But it makes sense why it looks the way it does, and why she still has troubles locating Cassandra - and why neither of them probably look on their phones, or should be looking at their phones, since this is kind of ... heavy. She can only be glad that she hasn't brought out any of her team, lest there is something more to worry.[break]

"Uh, and - err - Vespa is the name. I'm - better now, I guess, but ... I don't wanna leave just yet? Can I maybe help?" Frankly, there is an instinct to flee, but knowing that her friend is out here somewhere gives her the chills. She wants to make sure that at least she is safe, also, before leaving any perimeters.

Determination flares up from the young girl's eyes, fear making way for something ... maybe inscribed in her genes. Probably not. The teen spirit might be more applicable as she holds onto whatever she can, looking over to the Zorua and her friend. "Fuyue, please - go and help the others as much as possible, 'kay? You can do!" she shouts her last words towards both addressed ones. The Zorua nods, a little hesitantly, as if knowing what her trainer would want to do - but there is no stopping Vespa Quinn Baskerville when she is 'in the zone'. Instead, Fuyue walks over to Cassandra, hoping to be of more aid there.[break]

Vespa can't help herself stiffening a little over the unexpected new entry to the scene, instinctively on guard after letting it down in face of the Lampent - similar with the Zorua-Grookey as she tries to make herself even smaller. But the tone of the stranger is friendly enough and there is curiosity why the Lampent didn't seem bothered with either of them, moreso with the other. Interesting ...[break]

Still. The student can't quite pretend to really grasp the situation, even as her favourite thing to do is spitting the nonsensical as truths, or at least as feasible realities. "Why would it do that?" she asks thusly, head a little tilted in curiosity. Stopping by something like an institution created by humans strikes her as a bit unusual for a Pokémon. Or maybe, she is wrong here? Hm ... That needs further investigation.

Honestly, Vespa expected anything but to be involved in this ... thing. This collapsing thing. This very, very overwhelming, unnerving thing. She finds that it is certainly more stressful than a school exam, but then again, she never cared too much about those to begin with. But ... still. Just as she is bidding her farewells to Lutgarde and see if she can locate Cassandra in any one way, hoping to reunion with her, she's falling into another thing.[break]

Or, not she, but the Falinks Squad that have been out are bidding for her attention, circling their trainer as they point towards something that nearly crumbles, and is only made worse by rampaging Pokémon. If nothing is done, building and Pokémon seem in grave danger ... "F- fine, do something about it, full permission granted!" she directs-nondirects the Squad that sets out, determination in their eyes as the brass orders its troopers to disperse and distract the rampaging Pokémon enough to have them steer away from the crumbling structure. Perfect, now ...[break]

Eyes flitting back and forth, the student is quickly walking towards a figure that seems competent enough. Not as lost as her, for sure. "Uhm, excuse me, but there - it could collapse any time, soon, y'know ... the building over there - the Falinks are mine, they're trying to keep the Pokémon from making more damage - err ... yes. Please help? Please?"

It makes her features soften, feeling the urge to pinch his cheeks, but that would distract him only further. She likes her father - he's a nice guy, has interesting stories to tell and is only a little embarrassing. Still, she wonders if that is enough to run an errand of this scale for him, and with only so much as a reward - from Slateport City to Rustboro City. Maybe she is being too capitalistic? Or materialistic? But ... Yeah. Okay. Fine. If he really wanted that one book from that one book store and couldn't just order it online like a normal person ... very well. She can make a day trip out of this! Rustboro City is a nice place to be, and it's his money, anyway.[break][break]

Humming a joyous tune, she exits the bakery with a croffle in one hand and is just on her way to the designated book store when ... huh? Now, the sight of Pokémon should really not startle her much, but there is some curiosity about the Lampent that is floating around. It looks ... aimless. Directionless. Kind of like her, only that in this moment, she should have a direction to go to (the book store), but finds herself going towards the Pokémon anyway.[break][break]

With her Hisuian Zorua by her side, transformed into very timid-looking Grookey hiding behind her leg, she looks up to the Lampent. "What're you doing? Seeing anything fun up there?"

Surprise widens her eyes immediately after pressing them shut so tightly, and after a hesitant breather, she finds that - indeed - she is not submerged in water. Instead, there is a ... Togekiss? Stunned for a moment, she cannot immediately react to neither the question nor the situation at hand, only opening and closing her mouth a few times until she finds her mind and voice again.[break][break]

"I ... uh. I was supposed to meet someone when ... what exactly is going on?" she says, absent-mindedly, observing their surroundings more closely now that there is no digital distraction. Really, what kind of misfortune has to struck her now? Vespa looks back to the one who rescued her, wondering out loud - wait, who ... "Who are you, by the way?"

Vespa's interest in her own future is ... limited, to say the least. There is a mixture between not wanting to leave the comfort of her school days and her father's care, as well as the immediate urge to be free of those ghastly shackles. It is weird. And apparently, it's really only going to get worse, lest she maybe hyperfixates on something like her father did on history. "Makes life more ... fun, I guess," he once said with a shrug. She doesn't believe him.[break]

So, she needs more intel.[break]

Her school's career day seems just the right place to gather some, so she is up and going to ... well. What, actually? She never did actual 'field research', or 'questionnaires', only ever faked the statistics she needs. So ... uh ... uh ... She looks around, trying to find someone interesting enough to approach - and - wait. Err. That's a face she (maybe) knows. She goes over to the Elite Four member, waiting until the line subsides a little until it's her turn to ... wait. Right. She doesn't actually have a clue, and the Grookey nestled on her shoulders, making a small mess of her hair doesn't help.[break]

Thusly, she does what she does best: Improvise. With crossed arms and curious eyes, she inquires, "so ... is entertaining the youth actually part of your job description?"
