The researcher doesn't quite reply to the rhetoric question, leaving the answer in the air - to be honest, Xuying doesn't quite remember what he dreamt of when he was younger, memories possibly being overwritten in favour of all that is already happening. His interest in the Legendaries have never developed much, and the Unovian legends rather overwhelmed than enticed him, finding intrigue in the teachings of the coven instead. But what he merely notes is a "hmm, I guess so," as they continue on this strange journey throughout the possibly deepest cave that Hoenn has to offer these days. "I mean, who really knows? I guess anything can happen in this place."[break]

Xuying directs his Metagross to stay behind a little as Josh springs to action, from one Paradox to the other - finally catching a weakened-looking Archen, and the researcher hums in response, flying closer as he lets out a few laudatory claps. "Nice job," he hums, though his ears are directed more towards ... wait, what's that noise? For some reason, it sounds ... very close ...[break]

Nearly falling off his floating companion as he flinches, he doesn't know how he failed to notice the Fuecoco that somehow made it onto the Metagross as well, showing off her questionable singing skills. It looks so off-guard, Xuying only throws a Pokéball to make it stop singing - maybe later, he could indulge in this more, but his irritation is quite winning this time. Do Fire starters have made it a hobby to bully him? Maybe? "So ... where to?" he asks Josh as the path forks - to the left, and to the right.

The Rotom, as it seems, is prone to pick up any type of battle it encounters together - Xuying doesn't think he did more than a few steps before the Rotom flies off already, directing a Confuse Ray at a Galarian Corsola that flies by - which seems to be effective enough to hurt the Corsola herself as Xuying throws a safari ball to catch it, before she may be doing even more damage to herself.[break]

"Well ... that's one down, I guess," Xuying hums, looking over to the snickering Rotom, "you do feel pretty rowdy today, don't ya?"

The condolences are truly well-received, to be honest, as something seems to stiffen - relax in the usually carefree expression of the other. "It's a rough land for sure ... I'm not even that studied in the science, either, but I guess I'm the only damned soul that read through the manuals," Xuying remarks with a sigh and a shake of his head. It's a really rough world outside here indeed ...[break]

"But nah - no firm, just ... a coven of physicists, I guess. Expanding upon new territories, too? I come from the Unova region originally," is all he manages to say before dee already dashes off, off to ... somewhere. That is one strange encounter for sure, but he doesn't think of it much as he only picks up the groceries and finds a wild Espathra on the way home, catching it as it was aiming to eat an apple off his bag. Hmph - could also just ask for it, he figures.

To be honest, Xuying quite has a mindset of 'been there, done that' - 'seen that, don't care', so he hasn't even been perceiving the Roaring Moon as much of an anomaly, probably not in the sense that Katharina is thinking. "Nah, you're good - doesn't look like a Salamence to me, but ... go figure?" he manages to say with a shrug, assuming she probably got one for some of her research and all that was related to such. In his case, however ... as his Pokémon work independently from him on battling this strange creature engulfed in light, he has a bit more time to study the Hisuian Lilligant. If it even is one, to be honest.[break]

"Not really a Ghost type for sure," he throws back at the other as he remains in safe distances, "but also not really normal, either ... Feels lifeless, almost, but - y'know? Not in the sense that regular Ghost types would be. Maybe. What do I know?" Another time, another try ... He heard the Safari Zone changed since he came here last, so obviously, Xuying would like to check it out and see it for himself. It seems like they share such sentiment across them both, not quite that huge of a Ghost fan when truly, the Rotom can be quite a hassle to deal with all its shenanigans and such. It only allows him to let out a sigh before something else piques his curiosity and he gets a positive reply to it. Naturally, he shouldn't have just assumed, but considering he is the only 'computer guy' amidst the people he knows closely, and he has some overlap with the other's team, it might as well be.[break]
[break]
Before he can reply, however, the market place seems to be in uproar when a Copperajah begins a small stampede through where they are standing - with widened eyes, the researcher watches the scenery unfold and ... uh-oh. The wild creature seems to be heading straight for where he and the other are standing, so he hastily pulls out a Pokéball in an attempt to catch him - and sighs in relief when he disappears in the ball for now. The small round of applause that he hears from the passengers is rather embarrassing, though ... "Uh ... so what I meant to say," he turns to dem, "yeah. I specialise in computer languages, and - IT support, I guess."

He receives no immediate answer to his reply, though that doesn't bother him as much as the dangers of wild creatures seem to lurk at every corner and he finds himself paying a little more attention to his surroundings than he would normally, a careful gaze in his otherwise rather carefree attitude. Just as Maki finishes off a wild Cetoddle, his eyes gaze upon a Bastiodon in the distance, looking over to the shiny Rotom as he also brings forth a shiny Metagross from its ball, "let's try and catch that Bastiodon." His Pokémon act quite so on their own, approaching the Pokémon with a Shock Wave from Rotom and a Psychic from Metagross before Xuying himself chimes in with a Pokéball to attempt a catch.[break]

Just as he lifts the Pokéball from the ground and comes closer to Maki again, he hears the question she is posing - an amused smile spreads on his face as he hums, "I wonder? They're pretty, aren't they? It's kind of a hobby of mine, but-" He looks around with a dramatic sigh. "-turns I'm more indulging a different endeavour than that today."

The researcher only hums somewhat non-committally to the words spoken, though he figures that there is some kind of truth in there. Warnings can never hurt, even though getting down here has already been a bit of a struggle that he wonders how many truly wander off into the deep depths of Area Zero without knowing where they are headed to. He only had a little bit of a plan, for sure, but what about others? "I figure it could never hurt," he remarks eventually, more jovial in his tone than the other, "could also fan the flames of the forbidden and the dangerous, of course. Of course, not that this place itself isn't already a breathing red flag." Xuying may proudly - stupidly admit that he is one of the dumber, more reckless individuals on this earth, for sure.[break]

By this time, he figured that maybe, those three names that are constantly dropping must be something like the Forces of Nature that he somehwat knows from Unova. It still does not result in much any picture other than the Paradox version that Josh is riding right now, but he figures it's more than anything else. "Fair enough, childhood fancies do carry over into adulthood sometimes," Xuying muses with somewhat of a smile. He couldn't speak for himself, but he knows not to assume from himself unto others.[break]

Unlike Josh, the researcher finds himself rather steering away from the Scream Tail and the Archen, not wanting to get into an unnecessary scuffle between wild ones when he already has enough to deal with his own catches and the ones that bother him. "Hm? Oh ... that's interesting to hear," Xuying replies, unknowing of the kind of struggle that Josh might be experiencing right now - rather wondering just how big that crystal must be. And imbued with some kind of energy, it seems? Hm ... "Well, planning to go to there again?"

To be honest, he holds his ground a little better than he would have anticipated - probably much attributed to his Pokémon knowing better what to use in which situation, but he is still knocked out from early on, only watching with terror and horror and something like misplaced respect how the teenager continues to fight against a force that she is definitely not going to beat. Not when the storm is raging - not when Thundurus has everything it would ever need to have, to rage again and again.[break]

Defeated, he merely sits in the back, feeling how salt water washes over him time and again, as he only waits for the simulation to end, for Cassandra to fall. He gives her a lopsided grin still, when she turns, knowing that she's been defeated. "Good fight, kiddo," he gives her a half-salute - before the waves engulf them whole, and he is finally free from teenage shenanigans.

Xuying still has to wrap his head around the last puzzling scenario when they emerge in the next - it feels disorienting to be back in his human form, even more so on a ship that is tossed and turned by the waves. He can only grimace as he holds his head, and ... Uh oh. With horror, he notices the enormous force ahead and - for once, it's a Legendary Pokémon that he can recognise. "What the heck is Thundurus doing here-" he only manages to mutter to himself when-[break]

"Are you out of your mind? What is wrong with the youth these days?!" he blurts out immediately, looking around to grab his Pokéballs as he tries to steady himself (he fails) and sighs. Alright ... alright. There is somewhat of a lopsided grin on his face when he releases all three of his companions. "Fine ... fine, let's battle it. This isn't even real, so what, I guess." Does he know how to really battle? Not really, but - go figure.

After successfully catching the Carvanha, too, he has to take a few moments to normalise his breathing - the rate of his heartbeat as he slowly inhales and exhales a couple of times. If the safari is always this ... turbulent, he does wonder where it will end in the long run. "Sheesh ... but let's continue, we have one more ball to throw," Xuying hums as he gestures for the Rotom to follow him.[break]

Much to his luck, the next species he does encounter is quite familiar - the Metagross used to be a Beldum after all, and after a couple of attacks exchanged between the Beldum and the Rotom, he is able to throw a ball and catch the last one. "Hah ... almost feels nostalgic, not, Y?" he looks over, though it doesn't seem like the dual type is sharing his opinion much. With an amused smile, he shrugs, "eh, let's go home."

"... There is a d20 on my body?" Xuying voices with a level of confusion, trying to squint at himself, but to no avail. Back in Unova, this kind of Pokémon hasn't been that common and he also hasn't managed to catch one of his own just yet. "Guess I'll have to see for myself another time," he only shrugs as he still ponders how they can return. This form is quite inconvenient after all ...[break]

But try as it might, his sight doesn't change and nothing, in fact, changes - apart from the other who turns into an Intelleon after some time, and he feels himself also shifting into the next stage - not exactly breaking back into a human, but ... well. This. Orbeetle. "Anytime now ... the simulation seems to be stuck on this scenario for a little to long to my liking," Xuying sighs out loud, shaking his whole body as he does so - and finally, he sees the beginnings of a shift, pixels dispersing as something new rises. Whatever they have to face now, though ... won't he come to regret having wished for this scenario to end?
