[break][break]the conversation's pleasant as the bartender makes abner's drink, and marcel can't help but think how much better this would have been if he'd gone alone.

it'd take a while, but marcel would eventually come to learn that next drink was a mistake. had he known, he would've just left abner to sulk--that would've been a far easier option, now he thought about it. as the other rocket's escorted none too gently out the building, marcel follows, irritation plain on his face.

"what the fuck abner?" he bites out without looking behind. if the man couldn't keep up with him, that was his problem.

the club's pretty crowded, so it takes a bit of waiting before they reach the bar. marcel rests his crossed arms on the bar, only half listening to abner. "if you're so worried, go order your own drink," he finally says. the bartender makes eye contact with him, and he smiles. "you have a phone, don't you?"

that vodka is exactly the same in kalosian is something he feels is not worth mentioning. as he waits for abner's response, marcel orders a gin and tonic.

"fuck off abner," he snaps back, "you can't talk about people like that." as he turns his gaze away, he catches sight of Emma Wolfe and Cillian Quinn and freezes. he'd be lying to say he isn't surprised.

still wrestling with dominic for his drink, he lets go of the man's wrist and uses his newly free hand to grab whatever Abner Armstrong has in his hand. "give me that." marcel downs the rest of it before his mind can catch up and decide what exactly he's feeling.

this just so happens to be the moment Eva Dumont arrives. [break][break]marcel becomes uncomfortably aware of how priam feels every time he scolds him. he ducks his head under the weight of eva's scrutiny. "i--" the flush on his face is only half down to the alcohol. he glances at dominic sinclair, and decides it's simply a matter of self-preservation when he answers. "i don't know, dominic's the one who brought him here..."

following priam's lead, though at a far slower pace, marcel marches up to his fellow rockets. "for fuck's sake abner," he hisses as oscar takes the lead. regretfully, he has to crane his neck to glare at the man's face. "it's kosuke. ko-su-ke." his tone seems to sharpen with each syllable.

at least it's only a nickname, oscar probably didn't even catch it. besides, anything said today could be written off as drunken stupidity--it wouldn't be too far off from the truth.

before he can think of an excuse to drag the away--like abner would've listened, anyway--they're surrounded. the chatter's a mix of questions and compliments; when one pointedly directs her attention to abner, he's forced to take control of the situation.

"ah, désolé les filles." marcel leans back in his chair, all charm. he slaps abner on the back. "il a une copine."
[break][break]there are a series of disappointed ohs, and marcel prays abner doesn't read into it too much.

while he's gotten their attention off abner, marcel's forgotten to include himself in the equation. his surprise is only visible for a moment. as he brushes off their words as politely as he could, he leans towards abner.

he let's thea handle his introduction, since she's already started. "you should give it a visit some time," he tacks on once she mentions the bookstore.

as he lifts his glass to his lips, he catches sight of giada morgan walking past, looking in a worse state than she had been a few minutes ago. he tries to mouth an are you alright? to her, but something tells him the concern will go unnoticed. marcel moves to make his way over to her, but the only clear path is straight through the limbo. the crowd is unrelenting.

"for fuck's sake..." he decides to rip the band-aid off, so to speak, but by the time he's standing up straight again, he's lost track of giada. he decides to send the rocket a quick text instead.
[break][break]marcel returns to his group a few moments before he feels a weight settling across his shoulders. one look at dominic sinclair tells him all he needs to know. he sends an apologetic look to Alethea Ivanova and Ruby Walker.

"i think that's enough for you." marcel takes a hold of dominic's wrist and tries to pry the drink out of his grasp. "priam, get the other one."

the sylveon's eyes begin to glow as it focuses its attention on the psychic-type. drawing on a power identical to its opponent's, it latches on with PSYCHIC, attempting to draw the wild pokemon towards it. unfortunately for them, the beheeyem's more resistant to the attack than they had been.
