”Oh trust me I understand having to spice things up.” Knowing Eva’s history she resonated strongly with the sentiment Priam had brought up. ”Life can get so painfully dull doing the same things over and over again. I can’t stand monotony.” There were a few things in this world that really grinded the woman’s nerves and that was one of them.

Something had been watching them while they spoke. A curious Salandit spied from nearby, its focus particularly on Eva. ”So blue tell me something.” The woman began as she slow approached the Salandit, baiting the Pokémon with some treats specially designed for its typing and species.

”Is that part of the reason why you joined Rocket? The money and to spice up your life?” She asked while she watched the Salandit take the bait.

”There we go. Aren’t you just the prettiest little thing.” She cooed, petting the Salandit. Eva proceeded to pull out an empty capsule in an attempt to capture the Pokémon.

”Yeah it’s sort of fun. Shit talking at least is much more fun.” Eva wasn’t the type who went out of her way to put herself in the center of attention but she did enjoy the theatrics surrounding it on occasion.

The Pokémon that appeared didn’t really do anything for her. Both were Pokémon that were common to this region so her interest was nil.

Eva didn’t pay much mind to her would be bodyguard. Not out of any sort of disrespect or anything but she found something that had taken her interest completely. ”Hello there beautiful~” The woman cooed, having spotted an Ariados nearby.

A rare sight indeed and while there was some examples of the Pokémon being spotted in Hoenn it wasn’t often you found them out here. Eva released her Volcarona, the sight of the large bug Pokémon putting the other one on edge. She wanted to add the Pokémon to her collection but she knew this one wasn’t going to go without a fight.

”Heat Wave.” The scientist ordered, and just in time as the Ariados fired off a Spider Web. The flame attack burned straight through the webbing and consumed the Ariados. A simple toss of an empty capsule at the Pokémon and the situation would be done and done.

”We won’t be here all day if that’s your concern. A few hours maybe, or once I get bored.” The woman had heard his question but the Ariados came first. She hadn’t planned on being here for too long anyhow, there were other things that she needed to attend to.

The other Pokémon that was nearby was just as interesting. It wasn’t every day you came across not only a Simisear in the wilds of Hoenn but an evolved Pokémon that came about through the usage of a stone, a find worth making some note about. ”How’d you end up a referee for underground fighting anyway?” She’d ask while writing notes.

With the reply Eva let loose her Gardevoir, quickly thereafter getting the Pokémon caught up to speed on what was required of her. ”Ooooh?” The woman cooed, she was unaware of whatever had happened in mossdeep, the finer details, so the opportunity to learn about it was exciting.

This sort of chaos always got Eva excited, excited to see what was going to come from the ashes of the fire. And in this case, it seemed like it was going to be something absolutely beautiful and lucky for her she had a front-row seat to watch it all happen.

A brow raised yet again at the man’s words, this time with mixed emotions following behind the action. New position? Eva wasn’t sure how exactly she felt about that. She wasn’t the type that jumped at the first sign of a promotion or gaining power.

Not that she completely lacked the ambition to do so it was more so she wasn’t keen on some of the key aspects that came with rising up in the ranks. More responsibilities which meant more headaches and annoyances to deal with. But on the other hand that did mean there were plenty of benefits to come from it.

This was all assuming that this was a move up from where she was and not just something dealing with the change of location they were undergoing. Regardless she watched eagerly as the man tinkered, knowing that given the opportunity she would love to be able to watch the place burn.

Not out of any sort of hatred but because it was just exciting to watch. But alas they clearly didn’t have time for such things. ”Artemis is ready.” The Gardevoir nodded, some part of Eva might actually miss this place. There were some fond memories.

She was extremely skeptical of the Silph’s idea of what Rocket could be. But given the group’s current politics and drastic change of management then perhaps she might be onto something. However, people are predictable and despite how hard they might try their propensity to repeat their dipshit behavior and destroy had to be hardwired in their genes.

It was a good thing that Evelyn was a complete pacifist or goody two shoes because if Eva’s temper was pushed she would have no problem burning some morons to get a point across that she wasn’t fucking around with these goons.

Eva scratched the top of her head as Evelyn asked some of her questions. ”Honestly I can’t really say for certain how old they are. It’s probably a mixed bag considering how hastily put together this whole operation seems.” She mused.

”And apparently they’ve been a nuisance for a while as others were sent to deal with them beforehand with no luck, they keep popping up like cockroaches. So the little bit of info came from the group prior to us.” Eva understood the desire for them to just be a bunch of dumb teens but it didn’t matter to her.

As they reached closer to the hideout Eva spotted someone watching them and once they made eye contact the person, who did appear on the younger side, ran toward the hideout and scurried inside. ”Well there goes the element of surprise.” She laughed.

”Good, that’ll make it more fun.” Eva grinned, holding Soleil’s capsule in her hand and bounced it up and down. The “hideout”, if you could really call it that, was just some rundown building which by looking at it was probably some sort of club. ”Fitting.” The woman scoffed as she went for the door which wouldn’t budge.

”Alright guess we’re doing this the fun way.” She said as she first released Soleil and then Artemis. ”You want to try talking to them? See if anyone will answer the door before I just blow it down?” The choice would be up to the Songbird.

Oh boy now we have the real ass question. Eva wasn’t the type who enjoyed getting all personal and talking about history and the like. Given their line of the work and what organization they were a part of divulging information about one’s self never seemed like a good idea.

But Eva was in a particularly good mood and this Silph seemed like the type that would turn into a regret so why not? The professor wondered if the other ones were like this if it was just her. No, it probably was just her; the other ones were probably a pain in the ass in their own uniquely fucking annoying way.

”To give you the sort a simple answer I was essentially scouted by someone who recognized my talent. And the offer was appealing enough for me to take the job.” She explained and as she did so she noticed a Glaceon nearby. Finding the Pokémon worthy of adding to her team Eva decided to try and capture the Pokémon.

But instead of fighting it she wanted to try something else. ”It wasn’t just money by the way. Heaven knows I don’t need money. But it was the ability to work to my heart’s desire, freedom.” Eva further explained as she pulled something out from the pack she had with her.

Within it rests a box which contained specialized foods that she prepared just for something like this. ”C’mon then little one, let’s see if this will work.” She offered the food over to the Glaceon which at first was very defensive, ready at a moment’s notice to attack the woman.

Cautiously it walked closer to the woman; every step it took closer Eva could feel the air around her getting colder. The Pokémon sniffed the food a few times before taking a bite. Finding it tasty the Pokémon continued and as it did so Eva began to pet it.

It was a success and with that Eva would try and capture the Pokémon in its elated state, promising the Pokémon to give it more of the treats if it wanted to come along with her.

”What about yourself, huh? How did such a reasonable and pleasant young lady such as you get involved with rocket?” She spoke as if she was much older than the other woman which wasn’t the case at all.

It would have been odd if the man didn’t take the opportunity to go first but his eagerness was rather humorous. Well it was more so his reasoning for why he decided to say he was going to go first that was funny. This would go well; Eva would be able to analyze the way the man battles with him going first.

It was a good way to gauge how the flow of the battle was going to go and how seriously Eva was going to have to take this, it at all. And given the man didn’t seem concerned about the match up made her even more curious.

The first move had been decided and he went for a thunder wave, a good first choice. At least in most situations, it would have been, Eva had a “trick” up her sleeve. She did not make command for her Gardevoir and the Pokémon stood strong as it endured the thunder wave, not making much movement as the electricity surged throughout her body.

”Tell me something, blue.” Eva began, and as she did so Artemis’ eyes glowed a bright blue. The Pokémon’s TRACE ability kicked in, copying the SHED SKIN ability of the Dragonair.

”What exactly is the ability of your Dragonair? It’d be a shame if it were shed skin, make what you did here pointless.” This curiosity is why Eva decided to not give Artemis any order, she wanted to see if her hunch was correct and the ability wouldn’t kick in as fast if she had the Gardevoir performing many tasks.

After the trace had been completely the Pokémon’s body was covered in a bright white light which then began to crack and break as if it were made of glass. Sparkles of light filled the air as Gardevoir’s body was revealed looking as if the Pokémon’s body was shined.

Eva shook her head, smiling as she did so. ”Well that’s unfortunate! Want to try again?”

She managed to rope in another sucker- er, friend to accompany her out on one of her many field outings to study Pokémon. His job would be simple, just watch her back and make sure nothing happened to her while she conducted her survey of the land and the Pokémon that lived within it and then they go home.

That was it, easy peasy, everyone would go home and sleep easy as long as everything went copacetic. ”Alright blue I’m depending you to watch my back, okay? It’ll be fun, might even learn something.” She teased as she looked around to get a good understanding of where they were at.

”Thank you for being such a great subject!” Eva smiled, petting the Crustle she had run into and giving it a treat which the bug Pokémon happily ate.

While not exactly a Pokémon Eva had little knowledge on, if there were even Pokémon that she did know little about, it was still an interesting fine none the less. Nothing about was particularly different about it to separate it from the rest of its species so while she didn’t find anything interesting she was still pleased by her experience with the rock/bug Pokémon so it deserved a treat. But it was time to head back for now.
