”I think we need to cut the shit and get straight to business.” If she had come here alone and didn’t care about making a fuss she’d drag this guy out back so they could have a “chat” about the way he conducts his business.

”You know exactly what we’re here for.” She'd then look over to Marcel, this was his contact after all.

While Gavin and Remiel continued their attacks on the pirates Eva decided to wander about the cave, something had caught her eye. A path that led to a door that looked rather locked up well, it would be hard for a person to get in but for one of her Pokémon?

This was child play; all they had to do was blast through it.

And with a snap of her fingers, her Pokémon did just that, revealing a room that held treasures. Treasures that Eva was not bothered with at all.

”I guess that’s where they were keeping their bounties. Feel free to grab whatever; nothing in there I really care about.” She’d say to the group when she got back to them.

”Well let’s hope you don’t because god knows what kind of person they’d pick to replace you.” She groaned, rubbing her temples. Eva wasn’t as familiar with all the operatives from the other branches, at least not as much as she should be, so thinking about the pool they could pick from here in Hoenn to make another head scientist was worrying.

The assistants and drones they had working for her were fine enough but none of them were capable to the extent that would be necessary for such a position, in Eva’s opinion. She’d like for the other person to not be a mouth breather.

When the small alien devoured the paperwork Circe handed it Eva smiled, she never got tired of watching it eat.

”It’s amazing isn’t it? I don’t think there’s anything it can devour, though we haven’t done many tests on flesh, especially not after that accident with one of my assistants losing their arm. Luckily I don’t think it’s gained that much of a taste for human flesh though every time that assistant is nearby the little one seems to stare at them, almost as if it’s longing to get the rest of him.” She smiled as she spoke, thinking about the possibility of letting it have the rest of that assistant.

It was rude not to finish your food, right? And besides, they could see how fast it would take it to eat a human and the current size it was at.

”Hopefully he does, I don’t know if I’m in the mood for another coup. This place changes leadership way too often. I wouldn’t care if it didn’t mean then having to catch some other idiot that’s just going to be replaced at some point up on the research department’s projects. But he seems competent enough.”

”Well whenever you feel like running tests let me know in advance and I can set the lab up for it.” Eva responded, eyes focusing on the screen she held in her hands. After working on it for a few more moments she’d finally raise her head and look to Gavin, a brow raised.

”Circe had been working with the technology within the helmet of a synthetic Pokémon.” Eva began to explain, pulling up an image of said Pokémon and showing it to the underboss.

”This helmet is what allows people to control the otherwise unruly Pokémon. So we worked with that s a basis to create a device that would allow us to temper the creature’s rage and bloodlust thus making it more docile….comparatively speaking of course” She’d pull the screen back and work on it some more before asking the underboss a question.

”We could possibly continue this sort of therapy, I doubt that it would be effective, however. But I have to ask why? Are you having issues controlling it?”

Marcel understood what reference she was making to but Priam’s response threw the scientist off. Brow furrowed when she looked over to the young Rocket and listened to his recounting of an event the details she was unaware of.

She wanted to interrupt him and let him know that he had it wrong but honestly, she was intrigued and let him ramble on for a bit while taking note of what he was saying, it was a long elevator ride anyway.

They would have to have this conversation later as Eva wanted to know more about this incident but unfortunately, that wasn’t what they were here for.

”Sadly I wasn’t talking about that “Mossdeep Incident”, Priam. Though we can talk about that one later, don’t forget it.” Eva said, finally interrupting the boy’s spiel. ”I’m talking about Guzzlord.” And now they reached their destination but they would be met with another roadblock.

A security gate now stood in their way, one of Eva’s assistance was currently working on it. They were working on a series of new security procedures but when Eva arrived the assistance stopped working and moved to the side.

Eva had to go through the same process as the elevator to open up the gate but this then triggered a series of gates that littered the following hallway to open.

If Marcel or Priam were to pay any attention to this assistant they would notice that they were missing an arm.

”During Mossdeep a piece of the Guzzlord had been cut off and we managed to get our hands on it. The final test was seeing the effects that the sap would have on the appendage.” Eva explained as they would make their way down the hallway.

”And the results…..well I’ll just show you.” They reached the next room, revealing a large domelike structure that they could peer through from this side.

But on the inside, it looked as if Eva had created her own junkyard underground with the amount of scrap and other random items piled up. She’d enter another code to open the door to the dome.

”You two stay back, do not and I mean DO NOT move closer unless I tell you to.” She warned as she stepped inside. Looking around she couldn’t see the small Ultra Beast at first, but she could hear the sounds of it snacking on something in the distance.

”You two stay at the entrance. I’m back!” As she called out to the beast she noticed a bike’s handlebar and picked it up. For whatever reason, the beast enjoyed eating these so she figured it’d be good bait and decided to throw it up in the air.

It didn’t even reach its peak height before a pair of pincer like appendages flew from behind a pile of scrap and towards the bike handle bar. ”There you are!” She cooed as the Ultra Beast appeared from behind the pile and waddled over to the scientist.

”Gentlemen I give you the result of the sap on the appendage. UB Gluttony or if you’d rather another name, Guzzlord.” She stepped to the side so the two could get a good look at the alien.

She had expected the conversation to be about Lugia so the expression on her face had not changed when Gavin began to explain what had brought him here. What did however turn her curious look into one of confusion was when he asked about limitations.

She would’ve assumed he’d be more interested in a variety of different things about it before asking about limitations, which sounded vague to her.

”Alright that's simple enough, I can help with that. Our objective when dealing with Shadow Lugia was getting it under control so it wasn't exactly as much of a comprehensive study on the creature as we would've liked so our data might not have all the answers that you'd like.” She would've liked to have more time with it than they had but there was a job that had to be done.

Her eyes would then move back to the tablet that she held, pulling up files on Shadow Lugia.

”So is there somewhere specific that you'd want to start with on its “limitations”? Combat capabilities? Obedience? Wingspan?“

”So you’ve finally decided to take that position, huh?” Eva asked as she tossed a random piece of junk over towards her little alien monster and watched as it began to devour it. It was nice to have someone else who she could actually chat with who wasn’t some peon or an idiot outside of the few she already spoke with on a friendlier basis.

And it was even nicer to have someone else to help carry this workload and more important to have someone else for the never-ending sea of mouth breathers that would bother her with stupid mind-numbing requests and questions.

Now she could say “Go ask Circe!” whenever someone comes to her with those questions and Eva smiled at the thought of it. She wasn’t sure if the other scientist knew what she was getting herself into but with their joint project of Shadow Lugia, Eva was confident she had an idea.

Or at least she hoped because it wasn’t always going to be as fun or as interesting as that.

”You know exactly what that means.” Eva hissed as she ushered the two into the elevator. After a series of different button combinations, the elevator began to go down, taking them to the subterranean lab.

”I’m glad to hear it, Priam. Hate for one of you to lose a limb today because you’re inebriated.” The thought however was interesting; it could actually make for some good data. It’s not like they had tried feeding it human flesh, at least not on purpose that is.

Well, she didn’t want Priam to lose an arm and she’d probably get in trouble if Marcel did so she’d shelve that idea for now.

”Alright then we still have a bit to go, c’mon.” The elevator doors would open and Eva was quick to make her way through the room and onto the next. Scattered about were her assistants who were going from one place to another, all of them looking rather busy and focused on whatever it was they were doing.

”Once I was able to get back to my lab after the incident in Littleroot I got to testing the samples we managed to secure and its effects. At first, I simply wanted to test its ability of rejuvenation and invigoration.” Eva relayed to the two following her.

”And it did exactly as rumor had it. Those exposed to it felt a rush of energy and healing to damaged tissue. It even brought back a dying plant. We ran a series of tests with it and found that the effects were quite promising.” As they moved through the hallway toward their destination they’d pass a series of different labs and even more workers.

”Our final test was designed to see the utmost limits of the capabilities of the soil and sap. To test and see if not only can it heals but can it revive.” They reached another elevator though this time it would require a bit more work getting into it.

A code that needed to be entered, print and retina verification all needed to be done before they could step in.

”Do you two remember the Mossdeep incident?”

Eva returned to the room with a tablet in hand, her eyes glued to it and nothing else. With the change of leadership, the Shadow Lugia project, Guzzlord, and the countless other responsibilities on her plate, Eva had been extremely busy that a meeting like this would not have been possible before.

Even now there were still things leftover she had to clean up before things would go back to a relatively normal pace which is why she was glued to a screen. Though shortly after entering the room she lowered the device and looked over to Gavin.

It wasn’t a surprise that he’d want to speak with her given what he had just recently been granted ownership over. She and Circe had worked tirelessly getting Shadow Lugia under control so she had quite the investment in nothing going awry with the shadow legendary.

”What’d you want to talk about, Gavin?”

”Oh you want another one of these? Here you go! You really like these don’t you?”

Eva tossed over a piece of scrap metal that lay beside her and watched as her bundle of joy snatched the scrap out of mid-air with its long pincer appendages that came from its mouth.

And even before it could pull the metal back into its mouth the pincers began to work away at shredding it to even small pieces like two wild animals fighting over a piece of meat before devouring it.

And while the sight would probably perturb most, Eva watched on with such loving enthusiasm like a doting mother.

But this was it, the result of the samplings collected from that mess of a mission in Littleroot. The culmination of many hours of work and resources put into what was essentially playing god but regardless they had been successful in creating new life from nothing more than a piece of an arm.

And that alone wasn’t the wondrous part as fossil Pokémon existed and roamed about but this precious child is an Ultra Beast, a being not of this earth and possibly not even from this dimension. Eva was in complete bliss. At least she was until she heard a voice over the PA system.

”What?” Eva made sure to take note of whose voice was on the line as her assistants knew better than to disturb her while she was with the baby so this better be good.

And luckily for the person on the other end, it was, Eva’s guests had arrived.

”Good. Tell them to wait in the front and I’ll meet them there.” She responded, then looking to the little Guzzlord.

”Mommy will be right, okay? So you be good and she’ll be back with a tasty treat!” Eva smiled, petting the little alien monster before leaving the room.

After assuring that Guzzlord’s room was secured she made her way to greet her guests. The front for this lab was that was a simple electronics store with the lower floors being the lab that was once a simple spare lab Eva had on the main lab whenever she didn’t want to bother to be in the HQ but now had been completely overhauled into a nursery for Guzzlord.

”There you two are.” Eva appeared from a door that led to the backroom of the shop, walking past the counter to meet the two. She was glad they didn’t get lost and end up in Lilycove or something.

”We’ve got a lot to talk about so come on now no time to waste standing around.” She’d try and hurry them into the back room, past all the shelves of random merchandise and to an elevator that would lead them down to the nursery. ”I trust you two are of sound mind today, right?”
