"Woah, that's a huge Mantine," he'd regard jealously, wishing he had something like that for the surfing competition. It would've made winning a breeze, or so he liked to think, displacing the blame from his own technical skills.[break][break]

Spending his time underwater, however adventurous, was beginning to wear on him. It was a tedious chore, but as in all things, he remained competitive. Adrian wouldn't just stop, although the thought did cross his mind.[break][break]

He passes over the same reef as the day before, eyes kept keen despite the film of water obstructing clarity of view.[break][break]

What might he find today in his hasty search...?[break][break]

It doesn't stop him from feeling the exhilaration of succeeding at something. After putting his nose to the grindstone, he could walk away knowing he'd learned a new skill. Maybe a useless skill, but still...[break][break]

It was something to impress Rowan with, if nothing else. The ocean swells around him as he's caught in the trough of the next two waves, rising into the crest of the latter and riding it through until his Mantine lifted off.[break][break]

[attr="class","adrianwtw"]A Toxel crawls from out of a dilapidated project, something he sees across the street while searching around for any pokemon. It's absentmindedly wandering the grounds, as far as he can tell, and doesn't seem to have anyone to look after it.[break][break]

Before Callan found more talent, Adrian liked the idea of using their pokemon as backup guitarists. And when they were inevitably replaced, it would be nice if they still had a band to get along with. He imagined his own Toxtricity wouldn't mind having a Toxel around either, a pupil to mold and shape into a talented partner, so he made a detour.[break][break]

Battles with baby pokemon were extraordinarily underwhelming, but the first pokeball failed to secure the capture. Throwing out a Silicobra, he'd make short work of the vulnerable Toxel before trying again.[break][break]

[attr="class","adrianwtw"]Having cashed in on some long overdue luck, he's bound to hit a few hurdles coming up soon, so as Adrian drifts through the shallows without so much as a trace of anything interesting, he tries not to take it so hard.[break][break]

With all of the divers taking away something, one begins to see the marvel beneath the water line. Coral, exotic fish species, and even the water itself seems better off for their efforts. If he had a waterproof camera, he would have liked to take a few pictures for Rowan.[break][break]

Something for next time, perhaps.[break][break]

Without much to abscond with, Adrian eventually retreats from the water none the worse for wear, having been able to enjoy the scenic beauty of the ocean blue.[break][break]

Still, it wasn't going to be the last time he tried. Fighting against the currents, Adrian paddled towards his Mantine, and they began their next attempt with renewed vigor.[break][break]

"A Lanturn and a Magikarp so far." There would be plenty more to come, but for now they could simply enjoy the cool sea breeze and drift away from the shore, just as their worries drifted out of mind for a time. His line jerked, a deliberate twitch that could've meant a nibble.[break][break]

He slowly begins reeling the line in...[break][break]

Again a sudden tug, followed by drift. Yanking the line suddenly in the hopes the hook would set, he begins reeling in as the other end of the line begins to fight him...[break][break]

The waves were looking favorable into the late afternoon, and despite a developing sunburn, Adrian couldn't help but lather on more sunblock before diving into the water with a Mantine at his side. Cool brine washed over his irritated skin, granting temporary relief while he rushed towards the waves cresting just beyond the coastline.[break][break]

The longer the festivities carry on for, the more littering can be expected. The bottom of the wharf is teeming with shellfish, but it's also occupied by a host of plastic: Clipped fishing line, waste plastic, and sometimes lost fishing rods or forgotten crabbing cages. It's hard to tell how old they are, but the need to remove them is present.[break][break]

Unsurprisingly nature claims its dominion regardless, growing algae and barnacles clinging to the sides of some of man's waste. He tucks what remains mostly untouched into a fishing net, dragging it along through the water, while leaving what remains have become overgrown.[break][break]

While doing his civic duty, he spots something glimmering.[break][break]
