[attr="class","adrianwtw"]With the end of the round Adrian and Furor disappear behind the curtain, the latter dredging up a path through the sand as it lumbered into deeper waters to wear off the transformation. Its twin dorsals can be seen breaking the water in the backdrop, never out of sight. Waves recede into the trench, creating a shallow pool of water.[break][break]

Adrian finds himself settling against the smooth, compacted shoreline there, a fresh wave of brine washing over him to keep him cool. If nothing else it's comfortable lying in a prone position, attracting at least the discerning eyes of Rowan Wrynn from among their crowd. He couldn't be bothered with anything beyond that simple ask.[break][break]

Wave after wave crashes against him despite a noticeable change in tide, evening out the trench until once again he's laying flat against the sand. When the gritty, coarse texture begins to cling against his skin and ride up his briefs, he eventually calls it quits. Pushing himself off the ground, Adrian dusts himself off, plucking at the hem of his swimwear to try and catch a break from the irritating embrace of silica that had overtaken him.[break][break]

Walking back up the beach, he catches a glimpse of himself in the sky's reflection along the placid waters.[break][break]

With so many lines dropped along the beach, it was no wonder the fish were getting a bit skittish. Still, eventually their hunger would win out, and he'd land his next catch.[break][break]

He takes a moment to look at his phone, checking on social media and the Unown Report when he notices his line slowly dragging. He's already setting the phone down and reaching out towards it when a sudden tug takes hold, though he manages to keep it from flying over the rail.[break][break]

Finally! Alright, what are ya...?[break][break]

After a bit of back-and-forth, he'd eventually yank the fish above the water line (and onto the deck of the pier), granting him a chance the measure up his pull.[break][break]

The further he got, the easier everything became. He stopped slipping off the Mantine when it barrel rolled, and they managed to catch more air than some of their initial failures. As an added plus they were only going for softball tricks now.[break][break]

Still, there was a very real chance of failing.[break][break]

Others were finding them, but every shell Adrian chanced upon was shattered and devoid of any living thing; not even a leftover pearl to find, except that one time. But even that didn't sit well with him.[break][break]

Expanding his search had done next to nothing.[break][break]

So today he went back to where it started, at the beginner's diving area, hoping to scour the sand until turning up something useful. In the end it was only a pokeball.[break][break]

Rowan and himself found themselves a rental and an old pair of fishing rods, for some good old fashioned sport. The former seems more enamored with the see-through hull of the rowboat beneath them, which reveals fish swimming just underneath the surface. Any further out and he'd feel uneasy about the waves, so Adrian sets the paddles down and reaches for a spare rod.[break][break]

Fixatedly he ties a loop around a small weight and bobble, skewering a piece of bait to the hook that's so carefully secured with nylon with a practiced knot, careful not to hook himself. He'd done that enough for one lifetime.[break][break]

"Do you go fishing on your own, ever?"[break][break]

Adrian flicks his wrist and sends the weighted bait into the distance, the whirring of his reel as the line goes flying into the distance a rush of nostalgia. He'd met Furor just like this, and he used to go fishing with his uncle.[break][break]

It was one of his greatest fears made manifest, and they were all vulnerable to it. Putting that out of mind was no small task. "I felt hot up there, and tonight's no better." He allows either arm to fall to his side, resting his forehead against theirs, nostalgic and enthralled with the feeling.[break][break]
