A Clamperl for Rowan, provided he amassed enough of them for his little joke between them. Yet for all he looked, he could not claim to have even seen one, only its evolutionary counterparts. And even they were scarce beyond the reefs just off the coastline.[break][break]

Maybe I'll have enough by next summer...[break][break]

They didn't have until next summer though, not the way he saw it. Perhaps that was for the best; did he really want this cheesy joke to be the last gift shared between them?[break][break]

[attr="class","adrianwtw"]Adrian is on the stage when it is overtaken by the spatial distortion. He is quick to retrieve his belt and reject security's insistence that he retreat to safety. Somewhere in the crowd Howitzer flees from Rowan and company's sides to rally on Adrian, who coincidentally is facing off with a familiar albeit unfriendly face...[break][break]

He's seen this sort of thing before in a Growlithe, somewhere underneath Dewford Town, in the tunnels spanning Granite Cave. But this thing was large enough to take out a nice piece of Adrian for itself if it wanted. And it definitely seemed to have something along those lines in mind for the paltry piece of meat known as Adrian.[break][break]

Quickly he releases Furor to help quell the beast's aggression, and yet it punctures the leviathan's impervious scales with relative ease. There is more to this creature he realizes, than he can tell at a glance. And while it not only boasts some latent talent or potential, it also lacks the civility of a typical species. It goes right for his throat.[break][break]

Howitzer does not allow that to happen. Bounding towards the stage at the first sign of trouble, it scents the aggressor, leaping onto the raised platform in a torrent of sand that flies past it initially. Blindsided by her offensive, the Hisuian Arcanine is caught in the full berth of the SCORCHING SANDS.[break][break]

It's enough to put it out of commission then and there.[break][break]

Momentarily stunned, he reaches out a hand and runs his fingers through Howitzer's fur, which rises with anxious tension that his touch only slightly eases. She turns and looks at him, standing just ahead of him guardingly.[break][break]

"Thanks girl." He rummages for an unused pokeball while singing her praises, capturing the strange Arcanine parallel. This doesn't make Howitzer any less wary of the ongoing distortion, so he decides to follow her to Rowan Wrynn and the others. Along the way he plucks a piece of RED SHARD from off the sandy shoreline, adding it to the growing collection.

[attr="class","adrianwtw"]Adrian enjoys the sport of Mantine surfing, despite his first experience being the byproduct of some otherworldly creature's direct interference. He's able to enjoy it at his own pace, something incredibly valuable to him in a hobby. With all the spare time they have, he's become a regular at the beach. He even has slight tan lines to prove it.[break][break]

Stalking up the shore after lathering himself with sunscreen, Adrian rents a Mantine for himself and begins the steady swim out to open waters, trying to avoid the cluster of typical beachgoers crowding up the shallows. Once he's free of them, they open up with some high leaps, easing themselves into some flips before going for the big one.[break][break]

Adrian feels his hair being whipped around by the air as they turn over to their left in a corkscrew maneuver.[break][break]

The longer the festivities continued, the more they found trash and debris littered across the ocean bed. They would have to keep up the work, Adrian realized, paddling through the water leisurely while looking for Clamperl. He kept a fond memory of Rowan in his mind, which kept him warm against the progressive chill of open water.[break][break]

I should really be wearing a wetsuit.[break][break]

With time working against him, Adrian would have to settle for a brief trip, scraping his hands against sandstone and corral while trying to dislodge some plastic.[break][break]

Blood rushes to his cheeks the same as the day they met over drinks. He's fumbling with his rod, unable to comfortably set it aside, much like his thoughts. This was definitely cheating, but it wasn't all bad though...[break][break]

Something nibbles at his rod, causing the line to tremble and the length of the carbon fiber to twitch. He could almost be forgiven for being so oblivious to it, despite it fighting against his grip, but eventually his senses won out the view and he resumed the increasingly arduous task of keeping an eye on the line.[break][break]

"I should put you on the end of my line, see what bites." He wouldn't be able to resist the temptation.[break][break]

Things were getting down to the wire with the month swiftly coming to a close, and the dunk contest was becoming something of a hot spot for repeat offenders hoping to bag a few easy crowns by surviving three throws consecutively.[break][break]

He'd only managed it once so far. Part of the difficulty was unseating the current reigning survivee. He'd have to make this throw count, obviously, if he wanted that crown...[break][break]

Diving into that deep blue once again. It's become increasingly evident that hundreds of divers are scavenging the ocean floor, and it looks better for it. Even the marine life has directly benefited, as Tirtouga strangled by plastic show signs of scarring, healing.[break][break]

If only things were always like this.[break][break]

Adrian doesn't tarry long, finding something to pluck from the ocean bed before returning to the surface with a Mantine for some surfing practice.[break][break]

Adrian is a little caught off guard by the next question. Is it something for either of them to worry about...? Adrian's not sure that anyone would've followed him here, or what they'd be hounding after the Gym Leader for otherwise, but they seem put off by the notion.[break][break]

It's not something Adrian is opposed to, though he isn't exactly thrilled by it either. But it's interesting to see the Gym Leader responding, what seems to him as unfavorably, to the idea of large gatherings of people just outside.[break][break]

Someone with his luck was unexpected with suffering through such drudgery for so long without anything to show for it, but then when was he ever struggling with finding pokemon? Onyx made a fair point, but Adrian knew better than to assume they required such physical means. Mars had demonstrated a connection to this report, not unlike an avatar. For all intents and purposes, one could assume that the UNOWN REPORT was powered by UNOWN themselves. And that the device had been procured, and facilitated, by a member of... the Dark Triad? That didn't make sense.[break][break]

But it was someone who shared a similar connection, he felt, to the one Mars had established with the Unown.[break][break]

It was the only conclusion for Adrian to arrive at.[break][break]

And for all the progress they had made, he and Mars were still only playing glorified word searches, unable to find anymore answers than questions.[break][break]
