Bailey Cooper blinked at the secretary's request, taken aback by the woman's enthusiasm. It was a harmless request, and she had to swallow her surprise. “Yeah, sure,” and she would pat down her person. “But, uh, I ain't got a pen...”[break][break]

The secretary passed a sharpie, and the Elite Four member pinched it between her fingers. “Aight, where do you want it?”[break][break]

The woman unbuttoned her shirt.[break][break]

“...Woah,” and Bailey quickly scribbled her signature, trying to not take in an eyeful. “I really am your favorite. Keep on... uh, fuck, keep on being you, alright?”[break][break]

Those were the only words of encouragement she could muster. [break][break]

Embarrassed, Bailey would return the sharpie and hoof it in the direction of the stairs. Somehow, despite the simplicity of the secretary's explanation, there was a moment where the Elite Four member was almost lost.[break][break]

But, when the stairs came into view, she would take to their steps and recall a time when she had been so shitfaced that stairs had seemed like a nightmare. Fernando would be able to recall that experience, unless his mind had been just as fogged by the liquor they had been consumed.[break][break]

That night of celebration seemed like it had happened years ago.[break][break]

“Yo,” was her greeting as she passed through the doors, entering the arena with a confidence that came from years of experience. While she did not posses the same number of badges as kyle lopez , she did not lack the sense of familiarity that came from standing across from a gym leader.[break][break]

As he polished his capsules, she snapped two from her belt; one for each hand. They fit snugly.[break][break]

Wind whistled through the exposed rooftop, and it was with that calling that she chucked her two capsules: Mandibuzz and Flygon manifested with a show of red light.[break][break]

“Hope you know that I'm not leaving empty handed,” and there was a pause. “Even if this flying stuff ain't what I'm used to.”

This was a bad idea.[break][break]

Bailey Cooper watched Adam as he went to the stables, puffing her chest with indignation when he was out of earshot. “I'm not little. I'm a grown ass princess. Prick...” her voice would trail as she stepped off from the horse. In one arm, she hoisted up Piggie Smalls, and listened to his squeals of protest from being carried in such a fashion.[break][break]

“Oh, hush. I'd put you in a pokeball if you'd let me,” and the Spoink would turn up its chin at the suggestion, letting the sunlight refract from its strange red pearl. The frustration seemed to warn Bailey that she would reap what she sow-ed if such behavior continued.[break][break]

Back on the ground, it would resume its bouncing... and Bailey seemed keen to watch and see if the little psychic pig was doing any better. Its sickness had seemed to subside for the moment, but only because she had been insistent on limiting its ability to use moves.[break][break]

The less it used that janky pearl, the better. The damn thing did not seem to be high quality.[break][break]

When Adam returned with Cloudjumper, she tried to maintain her bravado. “Ohhh yeah? That right?”[break][break]

And she took the reigns. “This'll be more my speed,” and with the confidence that only an idiot could muster, she would attempt to mount the horse.[break][break]

Piggie Smalls watched, as if sensing the pending disaster.

“Oh, come on! I didn't come here to ride at the kiddie corral, okay? Get some dipshit kid up on ol' faithful so mommy can get some pictures.”[break][break]

Piggie Smalls would nod in agreement—he was here for the action.

Somehow, that seemed to raise red flags as Bailey turned her eyes back to Lucas. Her gaze followed the beckoning of his hand, looking over his shoulder to the sight of the single wooloo. “Shhh,” and she would have rose a finger to her lips to shush his whispers, had the end of his sentence not doomed them all.[break][break]

It was bedlam. It was chaos. It was nonsensical. It was hogwash.[break][break]

Her blood curling scream cut through the forest, spurred by the sight of a appletun lunging for her poor ankles. She deftly side-stepped the creature, but not before a flapple collided into her face like an obnoxious bug.[break][break]

“Lucas! Do something!” The elite four member would shout, trying to bat away the assailant that kept getting in her face like a persistent bug-type.[break][break]

A stray arrow would smash into the invader—a spirit shackle.[break][break]

From the dark, her savior Fidget would sweep into the battlefield, engaging the fray of furious apples.

Slipping her backpack over her shoulders, Bailey would take a quick moment to double-check her gear: shoelaces tied, backpack straps adjusted, and pokeballs at her waist at the ready. She does this fast motion as Kyle recalled his pokemon, as that was the best moment for her to recall what she had for herself.[break][break]

And the answer was: not much.[break][break]

“Well, that's where your Mightyena comes in. It won't see the dark-type coming,” because that was how it worked, right? “Cuz... uh... dark types wouldn't be affected, right?”[break][break]

She actually had no idea.[break][break]

“Well. Whatever. Some shit is like, unavoidable, right? Even if you can tell the future?” She shrugged, and knew that if Piggie Smalls was here, he'd be getting ready to give her a pork-chop to the back of the head.

There's nothing to be seen in the bottom of her bottle; it sat undisturbed, brushed by blades of grass from where it had been placed. Dug deep into the ground, it had been wedged into soft, wet soil to keep it from toppling over.[break][break]

She could still taste juniper. It was waxy on the tongue, lingering with a sweetness that distracted from the encroaching headache.[break][break]

Eyes shut, Bailey Cooper leaned back in the sun chair, feeling the sunlight as it cast across her body with its stripes. The adjacent fence had let its shadows stretch over her, signaling that the day had passed while she had slept most of it away.[break][break]

Her tan lines were going to suck.[break][break]

Day drinking was a vice that called to her on days like this—when there was nothing to keep Bailey occupied, she sought silence. At her home, tucked away from the world, it felt like she could distance herself from outside affairs. Who cared if Bailey Cooper drank on the weekends? Who cared if her Sunday was spent napping in a chair, floating through a buzz?[break][break]

But she tried to keep it leashed—the bottle of gin was marked with long lines of a sharpie, with dates of the month scribbled to dictate a dosage.[break][break]

Was it starting to get out of hand? Maybe.[break][break]

Some days were just better than others.[break][break]

Second encounter, and yet she felt more scared than the first. Maybe it was her prior experience that was coming back to haunt her.[break][break]

Or, maybe it was because she was in her pokemon's embrace, and it rang true to the death of her first pokemon—screaming with a broken limb, hand outstretched to catch the remnants of a ghost.[break][break]

She closed her eyes, breathed, and thought of Piggie Smalls and knew that little bastard was living high on the hog. Somehow, that grounding thought worked to clear the static.[break][break]

The furfrous darted across her vision, and she can see the suspended cotton that took to the air. “Flare Blitz. Jump on my mark with everything you fucking got,” and her brain finally overcame the panic, latching madly onto the onset of adrenaline with a ready hand.[break][break]

As the explosions sounded, the darmanitan would unleash his raw strength—a dust cloud remaining where he once was , breaking free from the ground to gain height just above the treeline—fire bursting from an open hand, just to add propulsion to the pokemon's wild leap.[break][break]

With one hand, Bailey would withdraw the fire-type. With the other, she would deploy her Togekiss.[break][break]

Gravity would take its hold, and what was once a rapid ascend would certainly lead to a downfall. Her hand would seek the unconcious man's body, snagging him by the collar just as her fairy-type would swoop in to grasp her.[break][break]

“Extreme Speed.”[break][break]

And the air seemed to scream as Bailey Cooper found herself functioning as a tether. Her head had been jerked from the sudden whiplash of explosive speed, but it might just be enough to gain distance.[break][break]

tldr: darmanitan uses flare blitz to spring into the air. Is withdrawn and exchanged for togekiss, who uses extreme speed. bailey is holding onto kingsley.

Piggie Smalls sat in her lap, refusing to budge as Bailey tried to situate herself in the leather saddle.[break][break]

“Can you stop hogging up all the space?” She'd say to the Spoink, swinging her feet to try and hook them to the stirrups. The entire time, the rented Rapidash chewed grass, staring at the empty grass field with an indifferent gaze.[break][break]

The Spoink would refuse to budge—and so does the horse pokemon as Bailey taps its side.[break][break]

“Uhhh... fuck. Giddy up?” and that made the lazy horse trot.[break][break]

It was a start.[break][break]

In the distance, she can see others with their struggle—a poor fool was chucked from a raging Rapidash, and she looked from the half-dead rider to her half-dead horse.[break][break]

Her eyes sought Adam Lycaon and his position on the bench. “Oy. Is there something wrong with mine?”[break][break]

A rapidash in the background screamed with a fury as it stands on its hind-legs, refusing to be tamed.[break][break]

“I wanted one like that.”
