Either way, Josh knew that if they didn't do something, someone was going to get hurt. These things were fighting each other far more brutally than Wild Pokemon fights should get. The best thing to do was get them to disperse, and maybe even catch a few in the process. Josh knew the best thing to do was send out Lightning, and have him move between the samurai, using Thunder Wave as it went. A quick and harmless way to disorient them so they could be moved, or caught.

"We'll just have to be more careful from here on, dearest. Watch your back" Josh brought up to Izumi when he heard her chattering on the com. She asked him to ensure his injury would be fixed up best as possible. "Ten four" he responded as he returned to work. Things continued to grow chaotic as the trainers had quickly found themselves fighting for their lives. Bastilo had managed to keep Josh safe, but it was in pretty bad shape itself. It was clear that Bastilo shouldn't be out on the field anymore for the time being. "Thanks Bastilo" Josh spoke softly as he returned Bastilo to its Pokeball. In its place, he brought out Dunamus, his Swampert.

The Swampert gave a lazy yawn as Josh quickly climbed onto its back. "Izumi, call it back!" Josh called out to Izumi when he realized she and her Pokemon were coming near, and her Pokemon had been torn near to bits for it. These things were on a damn feeding frenzy! He just hoped the tough skin of the Swampert would be able to get them through this.

Then there was chatter on the comms. Panicked chatter. It sounded like something even worse was headed their way. While this was Tuesday to Josh, he still didn't like the sound of that.

And then the attacking Pokemon were gone.

Which considering the rumbling, was definitely bad.

"Why did I get out of bed today."

Josh didn't hesitate, activating his Mega Gauntlet as the Swampert began to glow. If they were going to survive in here, they were going to have to go all out. Dunamus hitched a ride on the scales of Izumi's Gyarados to speed its way up, aiming a Hammer Arm at the Giant Huntail while continuing to hold on.

The end of the lap was coming soon, and Josh wasn't super confident in how they had done so far. But the race was far from over, and once the first lap was done, they could begin to pile on the speed. Of course, he expected Leader Josh to do the same. But they weren't there just yet. A particularly hard bump sent Buddy lurching, but Josh's previously stated plan for this kicked in as he dug in his foot on the ground to support his own weight and right the ship. Josh being larger and taller may make it so he was a bit heavier to carry, but he was able to do his part too instead of just being deadweight.

"Alright Buddy, let's start this lap off right. Agility!" Josh called to the Hisuian Arcanine. With a roar, Buddy began to rocket forwards, putting more pedal to the furry metal as it picked up speed by the moment. Of course, considering they were going upwards, Josh had a feeling of what was coming. Going up large hills and things on the back of Pokemon had taught him to always expect a sudden drop which could be problematic if it sent you airborne. They needed to be careful. Josh kept his breaths calm as he changed the settings on his visor again. This time, he would watch ahead while Buddy focused on building speed.

With a Merry Christmas on the horizon, Josh was in a bit of a hurry to get through this and figure out what the source of these apparent disturbances were. Unfortunately, thus far he hadn't seen anything. He did note a Chinchou swimming around, but he hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary. Though a Chinchou this close to Mt. Pyre -was- a disaster waiting to happen for the poor thing. He could potentially catch it to send it elsewhere but... Well, he was a sentimental type and he already had a Lanturn.

Odds were that before long this one would realize its predicament and be all "aight ima head out."

But with all that was going on, Josh had been working overtime investigating all these rifts and other anomalies in Hoenn that had been caused by the fallout of the meteor. He had found himself headed to the area near Mt Pyre, after hearing some rumors of strange activity there. Perhaps it was strange, not taking the day off on Christmas Eve. But it was close by and he wanted to ensure things were okay. What if something came out of it, came down the mountain? Came too close to Lavaridge? Ruined Christmas for his kids?

He couldn't have that. So he'd get some rest once he was done here.

Holy Hanukkah, things had become hectic in a hurry! Lightning had succeeded in drawing attention, giving an opportunity for Dragapult to get into a proper position for attack undetected. Meanwhile, one of the poachers finally had enough,

Before the command could be made however, a small blue cube was rolled by the feet of the poachers. Suddenly where there was one Raichu bouncing around, there was now ten. All using Volt Tackle and bouncing around the cave. The poachers ducked for cover, the scene far too chaotic for them to realize that with the exception of one, all the Raichu were bouncing around in the same pattern of movement.

Josh stepped out then, with he and Elinor having caught up. With the opening, the Dragapult would succeed in its attack, knocking the poachers out via their weak points. Once they were down, the Pokemon carting the captives would stop, staring blankly and looking around in confusion and uncertainty. Curious, Josh tapped a few digital buttons on the eyepiece and was able to spot Lightning amongst the crowd, it being the only one that emitted enough heat to sustain life.

"Looks like it's working. Lightning, return!" Josh called to Lightning, before tapping a few digital buttons that would cause the projections to disappear.

"Your Dragapult is impressive" Josh commented towards Elinor as the Raichu ran back to him, receiving a scritchy scratch behind the ears in greeting. "It knew exactly what to do, and how to make that work. You've clearly trained it well."

However, Lightning's ears perked up, and he began tugging at Josh's leg. Even the three Pokemon the poachers had been commanding seemed to begin to shake.

"Looks like it's been a long day here."

The blonde haired Ranger friendlily waved as he approached the counter. He had just wrapped up a bit of training with his Aegislash Omni, whom floated at his side nearby, and the pair had found themselves a bit peckish. How an Aegislash got hungry, much less ate, Josh didn't know. But apparently the wood from the trees they had chopped as part of its training and what was left of his beard that had been sliced off by accident hadn't exactly been something that it could eat. So he was going to try ice cream, at the Pokemon's seeming request.

Though he was pretty sure that Aegislash was a Ghost Type... Was it really sure that it had to eat? Or could eat? Even if it could, was it only because it had a hankering? Not that Josh was one to turn down a request. The Aegislash had grown curious at the sight of the little ice cream eatery, so Josh had decided to entertain the idea.

Though he could almost swear he had seen this little girl before... And wasn't she a little young to be working the place alone?

"What kinds would be good for Pokemon, do you think?"

What were these strange mouse Pokemon? Josh had never seen them on any of his records until now. This was becoming a constant as of late. Just as he was starting to get used to the migration of "Galar" Pokemon into Hoenn, suddenly all these new Pokemon that weren't in the Rangers' records were now showing up from these rifts. And the "Hisuian" ones too. This was all so confusing but it was a little exciting too. More Pokemon! More discoveries to be made! More adventures to be had! Even now, Josh couldn't help the spark that was lit in his heart.

And perhaps one of these mice would be a fun addition to his ranch family. One that his kids might like, especially since there were two of them each, and he had twin children himself. Maybe he'd try luring them in with cake...

Josh's Florges (Which was still in current canon a Flabebe) had been called to help out after a group of Primeape becoming angry was going to be a serious problem for the Ranger if they ended up rampaging. So it was that the Florges would quickly use Aromatherapy, having been given the gist of the situation and told that in no uncertain terms was it to let things get out of hand. As a Pokemon that had first been attracted to Dragomir's garden by the flowers and had since become a caretaker for said garden, the Florges knew how fragile something could be if not handled with care.

Essentially, it was its job to make them do the big chill.

It was that experience that led it to be quite efficient as the Primeape began to calm. Hopefully before the end of this, they would be as tranquil as flowers themselves.

Noting that the smaller Josh seemed to be slowing down, Josh would pat the back of Fawkes' neck to indicate for him to do the same. While Fawkes was not skinned in the guise of a Raikou, there was one thing they had. A bond and mutual understanding forged with years of working together. It didn't take much for Fawkes to understand its Trainer's meaning and do as commanded. The reason why became clear, they had reached the peak and the large rock formation at the top looked like one thing Josh did in fact recognize from video games -- a boss area. It was so obvious, it was almost laughably so.

When he saw the massive figure at the center however, he instinctively brought a hand to where his Mega Gauntlet would be, but he felt no Keystone there. Josh grumbled under his breath, remembering that traditional Pokemon rules didn't apply here. Stupid game. He was just going to have to improvise, then. Then there was the things on their screens about no items and HP being drained. "Great. Fantastic" Josh muttered, motioning for Fawkes to take him down. It was white hot, he couldn't use Mega Evolution or any of Fawkes' moves come to think of it, and now this.

"We're not going to figure out its weakness if we don't start trying things, and time's ticking!" Josh called to Little Josh as he leaped off Fawkes' back to land on the rock formation at the center of the crater.
