It's a weird world, Angelo thinks, when he could relate to a group of rodents. After all, what had the past twelve months been but a string of diy projects of his own?

From completing the renovation of his hangar to the purchase of Nautica's office this summer, he'd earned his stripes with splinters and paint stained skin aplenty.

And come the new year, another promised project was as due as the rising sun on the horizon.

It's the thought of a family home for two, that he and skyler dross could call their own, which sees the pilot rummage for some pokémon treats he had rattling around in the bottom of his winter jacket. Tossed towards the hardworking collective like snowflakes as they gather and carry their materials, as they eventually would.

There was something about the gathering of mice scrambling to survive the winter that made it impossible for Isaac to turn his back on them. The cold was closing in, and a lot of Pokemon were struggling to deal with a hibernation period that was typically foreign to the region. They were at the frozen rim of the Icelands, and Isaac could've sworn they stretched a little closer every time he blinked.[break][break]

The struggle of these little, beady eyed creatures, each with tiny babies following in their wake, hit Isaac right in the heartstrings. And that was why his team kicked into action. Ceres generated sticks, leaves, and other building materials from the overgrowth on her back, the Torterra kneeling down to ensure that the Maushold could reach more easily. Hearth spread the wisps of flame from his neck, the Typhlosion's ghostly plumes keeping theses poor mice warmed up. Sting whirled through the air, the Doublade slicing down branches and slicing them into more usable pieces of scrap. Crash and the Boys broke their ranks, each of the Falinks embarking on salvage duty.[break][break]

It never failed to bring a smile to Isaac's face when he saw the well-oiled machine that his team had become. Alone, they were pretty alright. Together, they were capable of moving mountains. Maybe, in the wake of the Frozen Icelands incident, that would be enough to at least help Hoenn's wildlife make it through the winter.[break][break]

Kyurem was strong. But not as strong as family.[break][break]

Perhaps it was ironic that someone who had a less than fulfilling home life find an intrigue in the family of mice. With the way they began to forage for things to help build themselves something warm and stable for the oncoming weather, Flynt himself couldn't help but try to help some of them gather for the harsh winter to come. Some came to him with a sense of high alert, but he simply flashed them a smile as he offered out some branches he'd gathered himself and then carefully scratched one of the mice on the head with an index finger. He could find beauty in nature, and even more in the way the group of mice seemed to care for one another equally. One even brought over a wild berry as a form of thanks, but Flynt shook his head and gave it back to the mice family pokemon.

"Nonsense, you'll need that a lot more than I will. Stay warm, little ones."

Hearing about a swarm of a new species of pokemon that'd migrated to Hoenn through whatever means, it is no surprise that Derek finds himself out here looking to capture one. What he didn't expect to find was just how cute the little pokemon were as they foraged for things to hold them for the winter season.

Like little snowflakes the tiny mouses were scurrying about the field with one another. Or was it pairs? Or families? It was a little strange to see some with basically tiny versions of themselves but that still didn't deter Kaz from focusing on his mission. At the end of the day it was probably just some kind of odd form of theirs after all. Whipping out a belt full of empty balls he started to hurl as many as he could in the hopes that he could catch them. If they were anything like a Magneton then maybe hitting just one mouse will net him a whole bunch of them!

as snowflakes started to fall, so did the family of mice start to squabble with each other for territory rights. pippa couldn't help but find herself in the middle of the swarm, watching the little white mice trip over each other angrily while she had nothing but love in her eyes. what adorable babies! if she could, pippa would open up her purse like a bag of holding to suck them all into her party. of course, this was not doable so she kept it simple by having her pokemon help out making little homes for the families looking for an abode for the winter.

With the knowledge that Tempest Quinn has been looking into the ecological impact of foreign species to Hoenn's own ecosystem, Gavin's first thought upon glimpsing the family of mice is of his own family, of his husband. Though he had no plans nor desire to raise children in their broken world as these mouse-households (Mausholds, if you would) seemed to be, he would certainly support his partner in whatever he wished to do.[break][break]

So, pausing in his route toward the Silent Icelands, Rocket's underboss attempts to coax a group of the mice.[break][break]

He'd ordinarily just knock them out, but who knew how hardy these little guys were? He might end up just killing them, and that wouldn't be any good for his husband's burgeoning research. Gavin was delighted to have another thing to bond with Temp over, and he wanted to fan the flames of that passion rather than snuff them out.[break][break]

It’s curiosity that draws Emerson out of the depths of his apartment. Bundled up, his eyes and nose are barely visible through the layering of hat and scarf and coat. Mausholds and tandemaus abound.[break][break]

Kneeling in the snow, he watches as the little families march around him, gathering their winter stores. It’s funny, he hasn’t seen a single tandemaus, let alone a paldean Pokémon apart from his own that came along with him from Medali. But now they are beginning to spring up everywhere. It seems he really can’t escape home—no matter where he goes, pieces of his home region follow.[break][break]

Still, they would make a stellar addition to his personal rat pack, so if he can manage, he’d very much like to take a pair or unit home. That is, if he can manage it. If not, he’ll simply end up going Home Alone, but that was the point of leaving Paldea in the first place, wasn’t it?

Hoenn is constantly changing, and of course, people’s routines change with it. Or, well, Mars’ does in certain ways, at least.

This time around, those changes mean spending more time near Oldale Town than what he had ever expected. The Silent Iceland is to blame. Lots of pokémon that couldn’t previously be found in Hoenn seem to be appearing amongst Kyurem’s ice, and that means lots of new pokémon to add to his collection.

Melody showed up to the silent ice lands in an attempt to make sure the Pokémon who lived there had adequate materials to survive the unnatural winter plaguing the area. [break][break]

She was helping this little family of maushold's create a nest, bringing them tiny little sweaters, tiny little snacks for their den to sleep, and on top of that making sure their house would be fully hidden from prey who might come hunting for them. [break][break]

The little children in the FAMILY of rats seemed to become attached to Melody quickly, moving away from the parents of the home and trying to crawl all over her. "All right all right get off me now, it's time for you guys to buckle up n prep for the winter. We're gonna be dealing with it too so make sure everything's insulated so the cold has a harder time getting in." she says as she continued to work on the little house for them. [break][break]

her mind keeps replaying events, like pieces struggling to fit into her imagined puzzle. and their edges are jagged, unwilling to mesh together well enough for a full picture.

it's infuriating beyond belief. holy moly.

she pauses mid step, eyes widening as she notices a small family of mice too close to her feet. it causes a quick flurry of movement: stumbling backward, cursing, and apologizing profusely.

and to make up for her mistake, she gets roped into helping them gather supplies for the winter.

These things were so damn cute. Callan sliced a small bit of cheese with a paring knife as he seated himself on the ground with one of the Maushold families as he handed each individual piece to the tiny rodents. The stubby hand of the largest one passed it down to the smallest, until the four slices were nibbled on. As Callan sat and spread the cheese, others gathered nearby. Giving him the opportunity to capture one of the families.
