Yes! He scored! And now, they somehow leveled the playing field. Both trainers only had one pokemon that was unfrozen. This was it. Him and his Infernape versus those two. Maverick glared at Sovar, giving him a firm nod. They got this.

Both human and pokemon readied themselves, eyes on the ball even as the ground sprang with greenery. They couldn’t worry about it. The ball was what they needed to focus on. And when Zac jumped and slapped the ball, Maverick had to admit he has never seen something jump that high before. The ball came in fast, warm orbs widened as he ran to smack the ball back. Unfortunately, his hit was piss poor. The ball bounced towards the out of bounds area.

“Sovar! Hit it!”

The Infernape took in a deep breath. The taste of the thick toxic substance tickled his thread. And when the ball was just about to reach the out of bounds area, Sovar sent waves of toxic sludge at the spheal in hopes it would put it back on track. And to Maverick’s surprise, it worked. The GUNK SHOT hit the ball just in time to send it back at Zac and his team. His heart raced, waiting to see if they manage to hit the ball back.

The oddly colored rapidash came in hot, hooves pounded into the sand in an attempt to hit the dragon. And to his luck, it worked. She thrusted her point horn into him, the hushed sound of pain was indication enough. Little did the creature know, that was a mistake.

Shelby felt the earth quake beneath her feet, turning to dodge whatever the dragon was about to do. However, massive rocks suddenly jutted out from the earth below. She reared up, neighing before she tried to run in a different direction. Yet again, rocks shot up form the around and soon trapping her in the pit with the angry dragon. She ran along the edge in search for an escape, panic filled her. Then, dragon claw came crashing down on her.

The creature screamed out in pain, claws dug into her back. Her body took on a low glow, activating her ability FLAME BODY and should cause a burn to the dragon. Maverick knew that wasn’t enough. He had dragons. He knows. Shelby was still in panic frenzy, running around the circle looking for an escape. The trainer rolled his eyes, arms crossed over his cheat. Yeah, defiantly needed more practice.

“Calm down Shelby,” the man barked irritated by the creature’s behavior, “Use your agility to your advantage. This is your chance. Use Mega Horn.”

The oddly colored rapidash came to a trot, shaking she head in an attempt to clam herself. She bobbed her head, turning towards the massive dragon and used her enchanted speed in an attempt to get in quick. She lowers her head, radiate silver energy erupts from the ends of her horns and soon consumes it. How will the dragon react? Will it be quicker then her?

At the sound of his name being called, warm gaze flickered to the familiar face running towards him. “Oh hey,” he greeted back, giving him a small wave in return, “Ahhh.. Yes. You saved my ass fighting that fire.” It was almost like yesterday, yet it was six months ago. They haven’t spoke to each other since, but the event defiantly was he won’t forget for a while.

“It’s nice to see you again,” he replied, a small smile and a nod, “I’m doing well. I’m taking advantage of the tournament to train some of my more inexperienced pokemon. How about you?” His gaze flickered over the water gun attached to him, brow rose. “And what kind of battle are we having today?”

The hurricanes collided in a bash of winds, fighting each other for domination. The oddly colored Talonflame soared into the lining of the two attacks, riding the winds using the hurricane to increase her speed even more. And when the two attack subsided, the fire bird flew straight at the dragon. Her wings took on a slow glow of steel, hoping to land a hit of STEEL WING on the stupid beast.

To his surprise, the lucario was able to hit the ball so fast and hard that it smacked the sleeping legendary in the head. The spheal accidentally froze the creature and landed on the ground. At least for now, they both had a pokemon out. Maverick’s gaze flickered to the Lucario who jumped in victory. “We haven’t won yet,” the man called out, his gaze returned to the other side as they readied to serve, “Keep your eyes on he ball.”

The ball was launched over the net swiftly, crashing down on the lucario and freeze it in place. Maverick tried to dive and save the it, but he was too late. The ball hit the ground and the point went to his opponent. Mav got to his feet, a sigh escaped him at it looked like it was just him and his Infernape now. He gave the creature a nod, tossing the ball to the creature in hopes it would get them another point. The infernape hit the ball with all his might using his ACROBATICS in hopes to save the game.

The sensation of success washed over her as the thick toxic substance hit its mark. However, Azula was well versed in the art of battling. She knew it wasn’t the time to celebrate her first good move. Her ruby eyes were locked on the dragon, anticipating for a rebuttal. Even as the sphere of aura launched in her direction, she turned to dodge. She could almost feel the immense energy that dragon put out as they balls crashed into the ground behind her, one managing to hit closer then she thought. It knocked her off her feet, only allowing a few other aura’s took hit.

She let out a series of yelps, the ache of the blast made her muscles sore as she got to her feet as quickly as she good. She let out a menacing sound of snarls. Her breath was heavy, boat ached. But, the canine’s wasted no time. A heat built up swiftly in her gut, soon consuming her and beckoned to escape. Her muzzle parted, a large fire symbol erupted from her and aimed at her dragon opponent in hopes that the FIRE BLAST would hit. She knew dragon was partly immune to fire, but she needed a moment and this would be a great distraction.

The two pokemon collided, the mimikyu taking the hit before it extend its claw out to attack. The flare blitz made the creature unable to move fast enough away, body took on a low colored hue of red of ENDEAVOR to take the shadow claw hit. Despite the buff, pain still rippled through him as his eyes turned red and a rage filled him. He hoped the creature could feel his pain, the move forcing his opponent to low in health to match his. Ozai was going to win. He needs to win to prove himself to his master.

At the sight of an easy prey, the three pups made a run for it towards the waddling wild vullaby that just so happened to be passing by. It’s eyes widened as the three pups playfully barked and growled, ready to nibble on the poor creature. And although Maverick would have normally save the poor bird, he couldn’t but laugh out loud. Khal’s body took on a low glow of deep red, running to the front of the creature to BEAT UP it back. This gave the other two pups a chance to snap their little muzzle at the bird. The flying pokemon flapped its little wings in a panic before s sudden whirlwind sent the pups tumbling back.

Taking the opportunity to flee before the pups came back, the Vullaby waddled as fast as its little legs could carry it. The pups got to their feet, all three set of eyes searched for the wild pokemon that was no where to be seen. Maverick let out a sigh, glad that the vullaby got away before he had to stop the pups. Warm gaze flickered over his smart watch, seeing the time before he turned back to the pack. “It’s time to go,” he called out, waving for the canine’s to return to him, “We need to head home. Let’s go.”

With that, all four pups and two houndoom’s returned to the scarred man. One by one, Mav recalled them all until it was only him and Azula. With the balls save in his pockets, he shifted his gaze to Azula. “Alright, let’s go.” The man had a few more things he wanted to do before it got too dark out.

The Lucario managed to get the ball on the other side without much issue. The only probably was, the Machamp was still frozen from the last it. With their eyes on the spheal, they watched as the two worked together to sent the ball right back at them. Unfortunately, the ball was heading in Dom’s direction. Being unable to move, the ball hit the ground with thud and peppered rocks at his muscular frame. The trainer sighed, letting his infernape get the ball. How long was he going to be frozen for?

“Alright,” Mav grunted, shifting his weight while giving the fire and fighting type a firm nod, “We are tied now but not for long.” The infernape tossed the ball into the air, eyes gaze locked on the ball until it made its descend back to earth. And when the ball was at the perfect height, the infer napes fist took on a brilliant red glow as he use CLOSE COMABT to send the ball into the air and back to the other side. “Nice one,” the man shouted in a praise, hoping the other team won’t be able to return it.

The look on Chloe’s face made the man rethink about what he was about to do. And while she was explaining how to ride, Shelby was ready to go.

Without much warning, the oddly colored Rapidash reared up and let out a series of neighs. He could almost feel his stomach drop, eyes widened as he let go of her reigns and wrapped his arms around her next. This only excited her more, landing and then darting forward. Maverick hollered, hands slipped off each other as his butt meet the ground several feet from were they started. “Ouch,” he mumbled, slowly getting to his feet while rubbing his hindquarters, “That was rough.”

His gaze flickered to see Shelby come to a stop, turning and darting back to him. He sigh, glad that he had built enough of a relationship to have her come back and not just run off. His gaze then shifted to Chloe. A light chuckle escaped him, hand rose to scratch the back of his neck in embarrassment. “I don’t know what happened,” he told her while the shiny rapidash came to a trot to him, “Guess she was too excited or something.” The horse like creature nudged him with her nose, letting out a snort. “What did I do wrong?”

Maverick didn’t know what it was. A lot of trainer’s like Houndoom and Houndours for their looks. But for the trainer, there was something more. He almost felt as though he had a special connection with them. A connection that most trainer didn’t have. It was one he couldn’t put to words, not words to describe it.

Azula sudden lifted her head into the air, nostrils flared. His got his attention, warm gaze flickered when she faced a certain direction. A low warning growl rumbled in her chest, forcing the pups to scare and hide underneath her. Lady, the oddly colored Houndoom, only turned to see what was going on.

A stunktank appeared from the brush, staring at the massive canine and the pups she was ready to protect. “Easy,” the man spoke up in a low calming tone, “we don’t want any trouble.” Azula lowered her head, lips began to peel back to show off her pearly whites. The stunktank lingered for a moment, debating on whether or not to engage.

A few minutes left like hours. Luckily, the wild Pokémon decided it wasn’t worth it as it turned and left the alone. Maverick mumbled something under his breath as Azula retuned to her relaxed stature and the pups began to play again. Lady only sat, waiting to be recalled.

The talonflame came in hot, body engulfed in ablaze. And just as she was about to slam into the dragon, it dodge. Her and her flaming body whizzed right pass him not even leaving a mark. She was quick to dip her wing, shifting direction on a dime. However, she wasn’t ready for the dragon to be on her so quick. Her eyes widen as the thunderous fist slammed into her side, knocking her off course and cause her to lose her flight pattern for a moment.

“Shake it off!”

Sparks skipped across her feathers as she regained her flight, eyes on her target. How dare he put a hand on Moltres’s daughter? He will burn in hell. Taking advance of this distance, the oddly colored talonflame flapped her wings hard. In the matter of seconds, a powerful gust of violent winds formed and hurled in its direction. She hoped that the HURRICANE would set the creature back a few pegs.

The battle had started with a bang. Azula tried to counter the dragon attack’s, sending it back at it with twice the amount of damaging effect. The dragon was swift. A barrier like bubble materialized right before the attack it. No matter. It didn’t matter. “Azula, keep the heat. Don’t back down. It can’t hide behind a barrier forever.”

The canine nose scrunched, peeling back her lips to reveal her pearly whites. A vile snarl ripped through her throat, muzzle slowly parted as a thick poisonous substance dripped form her mouth. She glared at the dragon, not intimidated by the creature. She’s had battle more dangerous creature then this. Her muzzle burst open, multiple globs of brown sludge erupted from her and was aimed for the dragon. If the SLUDGE BOMB did not hit directly, she was opening some would either poison the beast or slow it down enough for her to get a few good hits on it.

While Azula faced the beast, Ozai somehow managed to hit the little ghost with this flame bone. When he hit it, the creature sudden shifted from its weird knock off pikachu disguise. The creature blinked, confused as suddenly a copy of his bone appeared and waddled at him. His ability CURSED BODY activated upon contact though the hit sent him flying back several feet away with a thud. Maverick rolled his eyes. He expected the creature to need more training, but seriously. “Get back on your feet,” he barked, “Don’t hesitate.”

The alolan marowak got to his feet swiftly. He growled, twirling his flame bone. The flames intensified, running towards the creepy ghost creature. Soon, his whole body became engulfed into flames. He hoped to FLARE BLITZ the creature and maybe cause a burn. But this move, was costly. The more damage he did to his opponent, he would receive damage to hisemlf as well.
