Muspel has only one choice, a painful one, but the friendly beast wouldn't have it any other way. Scrambling furiously, she leaps forward and takes the Hammer Arm, Kjoll's head drawing back to allow her shield. This time, it's a not very effective move, but still slammed her down like a piece of scrap. She hits the ground and thrashed frantically, twisty flames coming off her body and moving to Fire Spin the grass-type. Forcing a moment of levity or even trapping it were very good options. [break][break]

Kjoll and her can't do anything about the Close Combat, nothing to do but tank it, he supposes. Curse helps, but barely. Each blow still chips hos body and sends waves of pain through the rock snake. On his segmented neck, one part spins, signalling a burst of energy that it Dragon Breath screaming towards the dragon. [break][break]

"The council?" She had to tear her attention off the battlefield, hoping her Pokemon had it handled, "I've worked with Orion, he is hardworking and good." Her compliment was followed immediately by a fall in her face and mood, "And Fernando...I don't think I'm good at figuring out people and truth, but I had no idea how to talk to him." She already feared a lie, even more so a lie that she could believe was right and true. No, she didn't think she liked him.

Upon hearing Skyler had other swimsuits, Kaida hurriedly leaned over the side of the boat and released Din, who chirped gleefully as he hit water. Kaida herself accepted the swimsuit gracefully and, looking it over, decided it was the right fit. "Give me a second." Was all she said as she retreated to the cabin, changing with a practiced ease that she had gained after multiple ocean missions. [break][break]

She wasnt used to something like this but...it fit well. [break][break]

The hat though, that Kaida frowned at, but she wasn't one to refuse a gift, as useless as she thought it was. She stretched out as Skyler revealed her own swimsuit, preparing for the swim. Over the side of the ship, Ormr and Hema watched Din toss and dive in the waves, it looked fun and they could swim, but even warm water sapped their temperatures rather quickly...they were fine up here. [break][break]

Kaida had nothing like a Lapras to make a grand entrance in the water, but she thought she did make an impression. Spring in, hands firmly on her hat, Kaida leapt in like a cannonball, making far more waves that one would think her size could do.

Muspel is rushing forward, towards Kjoll, just in time. She clings to his rocky body, enjoying the protection of Protect with her close proximity. Only Kaida hears a strained groan from the Onix, while he succeeded in turning away the damage, she knows of the natural exhaustion of Protect. Kjoll won't be able to repeat the feat for a while. "Go hunting." She murmurs, hoping the rock serpent heard the command. With both sides weakened, it was time to switch to offense.[break][break]

Clinging like a lizard, Muspel bellows and lashes her wings, springing an Air Slash at the clanging dragon. She needed no instruction, not until Blaze had a reason to activate.

While the darting around little ones were something she heavily didn't approve of, her face fell into a tolerant expression. It was fine. [break][break]

"I'm looking for dragons too." She answered the both of them, watching impassively as the fiery dragon was caught. She didn't need it anyway, it probably wouldn't live that easily in a forest anyway. "I got a few, and they need some friends, kin." [break][break]

As if summoned, she saw another shape moving on the ground. A little Bagon, what Fafnir used to be, it was perfect. She didn't say a word but bade Nid forward. It was fast, one Dragon Tail slammed it into the ground, and one Pokeball was thrown to capture it...she didn't even ask if anybody wanted it.

Kaida made for the surface at her partner's signal, hoping that was what he was trying to communicate. The fresh air was honestly a relief, and she only offered a cursory glance at the scars, glad she knew this was her partner because she could not recognize him otherwise. [break][break]

"That little thing?" She mumbled, was it an illusion user? Something like that? Whatever. If a fellow Ranger of hers was saying it, he probably knew more about this type of Pokemon than she did. [break][break]

"...Understood." She suddenly broke her silence, having said no word as Razz explained his plan. She reached for another Pokeball, releasing a little Gorebyss into the waters, who crooning happily at Corpus. "He can follow this fish, it won't get away from him." She stroked the Gorebyss gently, Shell Smash would let Din follow, no matter how fast their enemy was.

The Hammer Arm screamed down at Kjoll and, knowing there was no possible way for him to dodge, Kjoll glowed a deep green, a strange energy sapping some of his earned speed in return for hardening his body, both his defensive and offensive qualities rising in turn. As such, he didn't use Protect, saving his energy for it with his Curse. The attack slammed down on his head, cracking it but failing go pierce through. [break][break]

Muspel wasn't one to let her opponent go and pursued the dragon as it leapt behind Kjoll. She barely cleared over his tail, already tilted down to Dragon Rush the opponent, hoping her sudden appearance wouldn't allow defense.

Unbeknownst to Kaida, she too had encountered the Wishiwashi's alternate form, splitting apart so that all she could see was several fish left over. In the confusion of their seemingky defeated enemy, Kaida released Corpus, hoping she'd be an extra set of eyes. [break][break]

Nothing Kaida could see. With no means of communication, she had no way of informing her partner of the enemy's vanishing act nor could she be informed of the fish's ability.

She looked to her parter, tilting her head in confusion. Where did that enemy go?

Capture. Very well. Kaida watched impassively as the pirates dozed off into sleep one by one. A squeak came from the woman as the fist to her shoulder bounced her to the side. "A job well done...the two of us couldn't have failed easily." They were too good at their jobs, Kaida thought, not too many things would defeat her in Ranger work, and Selena seemed similarly skilled in her work. [break][break]

She returned Orvar, the Yanmega having worked hard, not to mention she didn't believed the bug-type was strong enough to carry her out of here after that excretion. Fafnir would be fine enough, the Salamance could carry them all home if they wanted. [break][break]

Kaida took a moment to understand Selena's action, then put a smile on her face, raising a hand for the high-five, the friendliest she had been all day. "I didn't think a news partner would be more helpful than some Ranger partners." She chuckled, tiredness creeping into her tone. Late jobs were always a tiring affair.

Kaida clicked her tongue, more of a reminder to Muspel than anything else to pay attention. The Charizard reared back, flapping backwards just in time for Kjoll to make his move, racing forward like a great machine as. Protect shimmered back to life, the Onix both defending himself and attempt to fling the Pokemon away. A separation tactic, to be sure, as he and Muspel formed back into a pair. [break][break]

Muspel rose awkwardly, clumsier than a Flying-type should be, but her attacks had the strength to compensate. Another Air Slash flew from her wings, screaming towards the dragon that had defended its compatriot. Protect was not a move that could be used rapidly, and the draconian intended to press the attack.

They were certainly a team, Kaida wouldn't deny that. "Kjoll!" She barked, prompting the Onix to raise his head a little. Muspel snarled as she was knocked away, rolling on the ground before painfully pulling herself back up. Her wings were thankfully ok, but she needed protection, Kaida and Kjoll both knew. His rocky body spun in segments, Rock Polish that would allow the Onix more agility, enough to help Muspel avoid damage. [break][break]

Muspel, seeing the Onix making his own move, didn't trail away from her enemies, only taking to the air. Even a rather ungainly Pokemon, Kjoll could cross the distance whenever necessary. Her wings flashed a white light, flinging Air Slash at the one that had smashed into her with the Rollout. [break][break]

"I think you'll find we're similar, we don't go down without a fight." Her eyes flickered back and forth as she spoke. They knew each other, teamwork was something they could always rely on, it came naturally, though with less strategy than what her opponents were showing.

Kaida eyes roved over the ocean as they set off, calling over her shoulder, "I'm fine on the ocean, I've done this a few times." Seasickness sounded like one of the most miserable afflictions she ever heard of, but she'd been lucky enough to avoid it so far. [break][break]

She relaxed as Skylar spoke, feeling like she was on some sort of sightseeing tour, "Could we just relax here? Swimming sounds good...but I didn't really bring anything to swim in." She trailed off into a mumble, clearly upset that she felt she couldn't participate in a swim. [break][break]

She tossed a Pokeball between her hands, waiting for an appropriate time to release the Gorebyss for his own relaxation.

Kaida stared at the Pokeball in her hands. In the chaos of driving off the interlopers, she had been jumped at by one and threw up a Pokeball in her defense. Now she had to keep it, she supposed. At this point, she was really going to need an aquarium for her Pokemon. [break][break]

The strange lightning in the sky made her nervous, was a storm of some sort coming, or a gathering of electric types? She simply resolved to keep the back of her mind on the situation. She could tell the crowd to flee if something started approaching. In the meantime, she found another float in her hand. [break][break]

The sight of the Marowak was both pleasant and familiar, but she hasn't expected one to approach and thrust a flaming stick in her hands...it was fine. She failed at jump rope, but maybe she could impress illeana reyes or something with this! [break][break]

Kaida didn't argue as Selena took up the mantle of keeping the defenses at bay, leaving only her Salamance in the battle. The protective shimmer around the cages had vanished and left them defenseless. The captured Pokemon outnumbered the pirates, and she imagined that they were likely furious. "Ormr, get up there, Orvar, cut them down!" [break][break]

Her cry was finished with a rapid throw, Ormr flying from her arm onto the cages, mouth overflowing with the Acid Spray that ate through the cages bars and walls, freeing what he could. Orvar was a Yanmega, known for the strength and speed, and promptly tore through the metal with her Air Slashes, raining freed Pokemon down. Their hunch on the Pokemon were right. [break][break]

The Pokemon, freed but still menaced by their captors, sprang into action. The tables turned in an instant, the outnumbered party suddenly switching as the Pokemon launched attack after attack. Ice Shard. Fire Fang. Snarl. Uproar. Whether or not it was effective, the sheer volume of attacks overwhelmed their opponents. "What now, Selena?" She raised her voice as the battle started to die down. Take the pirates with them, or...?
