The conversation between Pokemon was going well enough. Kaida held back on cooing or laughing as Bragi stared dumbfounded at the treat, and then immediately chomped on it, squeaking and falling on his rump as he tried to stuff it into his cheeks. Hema and Ormr responded back with all sorts of quick information about a gaggle of new family members and of course all sorts of hunts they'd recently completed.

"Work just means we can do our duties, too bad it's from fights like this." It didn't matter what happened. It wasn't like a forest fire, where everyone did what good they could...a fight just brought another fight until one side won. Until then, Pokemon would have to fight and fight.

Kaida was personally glad for a chance to shift in conversation, and chose to go down the amusing path. "I had to dress as a wrestler and fight a few days ago...a Croagunk was my partner in crime." If not for a smile that suddenly erupted across her face, the straight manner she spoke with might make her words seem serious, but she was clearly holding back a laugh. "Nothing was going on and I think they needed a bad guy, with my partners," She looked over at her trio of companions, "I was an easy choice!"

A cloth rubbed sand out of the creases in the Onix's face, the irritating particles hard for the Pokemon to remove even with Rock Polish. On top of that, even the smallest obstruction affected an Onix's movements, a creature that both moved like a snake and who's body was connected into multiple rock protrusion.

All in all, it was all to win a race.

Kaida didn't mind looking the competitive freak of nature, it made Kjoll all the more comfortable. However, she noticed mean looks thrown her way. Even in an illegal race, it seemed her Onix was considered a particularly unfair move. She had to be fast, it was the only way to stick around long enough to see everyone's faces, their Pokemon.

"Ok. Rock Polish one more time." She whispered, and the Onix reared up and with a satisfied rumble, spun the segments of his body until they more resembled oval pebbles, smooth and strong.

There was only one thing about this race, which was soon to start. It required a partner, which Kaida just took to mean racers were expected to work together against other teams. She only hoped her partner would take this as seriously.

Kjoll shifted, staring at a new face he didn't recognize and Kaida continued to polish the beloved creature, slightly tilting her head to address her partner, near whispered so that other teams might not hear. "...are you my partner? Can you work with an Onix?"

Straight to the point, it seemed.

Stumbling backwards, Kaida focused on regaining her balance, which was thrown off by her pulling her opponent down. She could hear the crowd roar right before she was flung down by what felt like a solid wall slamming into her neck.

Oooohhh! And the crowd was as helpful as ever.

In the few seconds she had to really appreciate how bad it felt to be so dizzy, she could consider Glima's shocked reaction, hands over her permanent smile and everything. Must have been quite a hit to get that reaction from her. Determined to make this farce last just a little bit longer, Kaida surged back up, her head protesting in the most dizzying way, hissing out her mandatory speech, "Enough! I am going to clip those claws!"

Hands clasped over her head, Kaida leapt, easily springing into a high point, and aimed the blow towards the man's head. Utterly useless move, leaving herself open like this, but it sure looked impressive for "Snakecharmer" to leap such a long distance.

An almost disappointment clouded Kaida's face before she swiftly recovered, the trip to the other side shorter than she expected, "Already?"

As Annie spoke, retelling of the difficulties they would have in seeing the other, Kaida nodded seriously, "That's fine, we don't forget friends. It won't be long if we're both traveling...it'll just happen." Her reassuring words were slightly out of character, but they were truthful and confident. It simply wasn't an idea that they wouldn't see each other again.

"Duty calls, I need to get to a Center." Kaida checked her Ranger Nav with small urgency and returned her Pokemon, "Be safe, I'll see you."

The next table held a familiar face, one that was hard to miss, even for her. "I didn't think I'd see you here, Mr. Benoit." Her voice bubbled in curiosity, even as she placed an inoffensive smile on her face. "Don't be rude." She suddenly directed her attention to the Toxel by her heels, who hissed a tiny sound at the man. Ormr and Hema, possessing a familiarity, waved their tails and cried out in a greeting before settling by the table.

Kaida offered her own hand in a greeting, and whether or not it was accepted, seated herself and waved at Pulse. "I would have thought others would bring more Pokemon, now I just wonder if they're taking advantage of the free food." Kaida tilted her head at her trio of companions who immediately figured out how to lure an employee over for more Poke food. "...is the ranch alright?" Work was a terribly droll subject to talk about, but she didn't much care to not hear about a ranch of Pokemon!

Who'd be stupid enough not to talk about it?

Kaida barely stomached what she saw, only the fact that such death was not unfamiliar to her kept her emotions in check. "They do it because it's cruel and makes a point!" Kaida snapped, not particularly at Selena, but at the abominable crime before her. The Zubat were far gone, if their burns didn't kill them, the poisonous air would.

"Jotun." The Croconaw's fangs were bared in a terrible grimace, his eyes wide and frightened, "Clear the fire, we're hunting the bad guys." He still stompted and shivered in agitation, but he unleashed an Aqua Tail to help clear the flames. As soon as the flames died, Kaida launched forward. Even in a weakened state she was determined to catch the arsonists, jail was too kind to such people.

Kaida relaxed as the Lapras started her song, listening quietly until Annie was done. A past was always important, and Kaida knew better than to interrupt or gloss over it. "They changed everyone's normal." She grumbled, knowing that humans didn't used to die in battles, that a Pokemon battle rarely ended in true damage. "It's not normal, but I don't think we'd be here if you didn't have all that happen...it will be fine, not now but much, much later. I turned out fine. I appreciated the help." She couldn't say it was good now, that was just naive, but Annie already seemed to have a grasp on everything. Thus, it would get better. "If you need a familiar face, you can use me. We're both pretty not normal."

She seemed to consider something for a little, and then started to speak. "I was a real Poochyena child." A past was important, and she felt it was only fair that hers also be on the table, "I wandered into Slateport, and nobody, not even me, had any idea who the hell I was." Her smile was as if this were a fond memory, "But my family was with me, and I knew I loved Pokemon...Ranger was the only job for me, it seemed."

"I might run into your Camp one day, please introduce me, my family would be happy to meet another like us.

Ormr was getting tired, that much was obvious, even as he crashed into his next opponent, it was obvious. "Finish quickly, Ormr...then rest, someone else will protect us." Despite receiving no answer, she knew the serpent heard, as he drew back and let loose a truly massive Acid Spray.

The final straw was placed, and the cactus Pokemon suddenly turned and fled, intent on finding easier prey. As soon as it was clearly not coming back, she returned Ormr, preparing for the next wave of disturbed Pokemon. They seemed to be slowing...

Her whole body hurt, another part of Kaida's mimd not focused on the situation dully noted. There was nothing she desired more than to sleep. Perhaps her adrenaline was running out.

Jotun dove quickly, eyes locked on the Feebas ahead. His eyes were accustomed to the dim waters, and found the crack in the wall easily. Upon the relevation that the crack was too small for him or the humans, Jotun returned to the surface on Selena's directing. Kaida kept her face as low as possible and even then, her lungs burned at the bad air.

"Jotun, can you do it?" She asked seriously, knowing continued uses of Superpower only resulted in less strength. Seeing her seriousness, the Croconaw actually considered the question, and snapped his jaws in affirmation. "Hold your breath, get Medusa to swim you up if you need to breath." Kaida explained before the next dive, if Jotun had to keep using his moves, he might be too weak for this fire, so it had to be done in one go.

With a thrash of his tail, they were under again, screaming towards the crack as the red aura surrounded him once more. A muffled snarl shook the water's as he clawed furiously at the stone, breaking through it with ease but still far too slow for those without the luxury of breathing underwater. One hand clasped over her mouth, Kaida focused on staying conscious in the terribly long minute Jotun took to break through.

Breaking through, Jotun surged up, and introduced the duo to a horrible smell and oppressive heat. The fire still raged within, but it was certain they were near the source and safe...long as they were in the water.

"I'm sorry, I prefer canines." Kaida spoke honestly, slightly struggling against the grip briefly before bracing for the attack. It was real enough, she saw, and she prepared a relatively real countermeasure.

She fell back on impact, attempting to grab the other masked fighter and pull him down. As if knowing her intention, Glima sprang off and onto the arena rope and sprung at the fighter's back. "They're not cocky!"

At least somebody was having fun, Kaida snorted in amusement, quickly recovering with a sharp, "Fine." At his insistence that she move first. She glanced at Glima, who leapt on her back as she lowered to nearly her arms and legs, "Do not bite." She whispered to Glima, who puffed her cheeks out as her smile refused to drop...was she happy or upset?

"The king doesn't seem to know the killers of the jungle!" She howled out, springing forward and aiming an open palm at the tiger's ears...though she noted there was no way she could truly harm him with such an attack.

No biting, nails, or true attempts to harm each other too badly...what kind of fight was this?

Behind Kaida, she heard something large thundering up her perch on the rubble and flung herself off in the nick of time. The Krookodile hissed and snapped furiously, Crunching through the concrete like it was nothing. Focused on the human, an incoming Acid Spray collided full on with its flank, driving a roar right before Ormr Bit into the weakened flesh.

A howl of anguish exploded from the sand crocodile, who thrashed about in pained fury. Ormr hung on determinedly, one eye locked on Kaida, asking her to make a decision.

Kaida palmed a Pokeball, already making a decision. So far from its home, in an environment it couldn't belong. It even had scars about its back and scales...this Krookodile must had escaped from either a trainer or, more likely, a type of black market. No wonder it attacked when disturbed, humans were not its favorite being. It was only kind, she decided, as she flung a Pokeball at its back.
