Oh! That's a bingo! The lack of smarmy snark and tinge of shock betrayed Rowan. His words had found their mark. The older boy was floored. That is, until he stood up. Andy could read the vibes. It wasn't the first time he had talked his way into blows. Even as young as he was, the boy had already been blasted in the face a few times. Perhaps if he had time to ruminate, he would admit that casting such aspersions without the presence of staff or peers may have been a mistake.

Alas, he could only think that it further enhanced his boldness.

While a million more things popped into his head to spew at the upperclassman, he was more concerned with the coming assault. Raising his own book on high, Andy sought to deflect the blow. Not really having time for consideration, he didn't bother to close the cover thus denying a rigidity needed to fend off a closed tome. Edgar Allan Moe would defeat Bill Rattlepike and the open literature would give way right into the child's face. The force easily busted his nose and painted both the pages and his boyish features with blood.

Reflexively, Andy kicked at his attacker as the blow was struck, but given their difference in height and his inability to properly aim his retaliation, it could land anywhere from Rowan's crotch to his sternum. Mostly it was meant to shove the other boy away, but whatever worked to prevent this from becoming some manner of lunacy fueled lynching. In the back of his mind it occurred to him that Rowan really was a narcissist. His ego was all he had, and nothing else. It was pitiful, or it would be if he wasn't currently getting clobbered.

The Blackadder estate was large enough to impress, built in an era when opulent excesses weren't considered so gaudy. It's stone construction was less radiant than marble, but the solid almost castle like construction didn't allow for the ease of passage when it came to sound, and unfortunately heat. Considering some of the hallways within the ease of passage for people weren't all that great either. So it was by pure coincidence that he Andy caught the sound of music.

I bet she's practicing again... He had been wandering the halls hiding motion activated noise makers in the masonry. When someone walked by, they would blast out a horrific screech. They were fantastic for startling his family and their staff, and every time one went off and was followed with a shout, the boy would cackle madly, no matter where his ears caught it. Though a much sweeter tone came to them now.

The luminous eerie darkness on the ground just in front of the quesant hut drew many of their eyes.

It didn't come to a halt so much as it danced in place nearby the two trainers, his glowing eyes promising a mischief most foul.

And a sea of similar gleaming peepers came alive in the woods all around them, the cries of nearly every ghost pokemon in the dex echoing silently in the trees.

While Epitaph flitted around gaseously to find things of value to inhale, Andy frowned atop Skyler Dross. The thought of having to play to someone else's tune hurt his pride, especially since so far as he knew the other trainer was just another guy with no right to any authority over him. And of course as a stranger, his cooperativeness was desired to be minimal.

''Who died and made you League commander?!''' An annoyed tone growled the query. The unique function of his ghost types empathetical detection drew their attention to him and his malice. Perhaps such a mood would serve to fill his followers with an even more sinister blood lust. ''Ugh.'' If the other trainer was going to set them up, he may as well knock them down.

His face scrunched at Aedan's reaction. Of course he knew the old girl was used to it. His mother being a bug type trainer had exposed him to a lot of anti-insect sentiments growing up. Then again, perhaps it was different for him because he had always been around bug pokemon. Ravana paid the slight no mind. She had heard worse in her time.

''Bro...'' he scolded in almost a whisper. Probably as nice as it ever got for Andy, perhaps uncharacteristically so. Still, it seemed the ginger forced himself, so his own bristling lessened some. It still looked liked his guest was disgusted with the yanmega though. Yet, the other boy seemed to make himself get over it and released a pokemon of his own.

''Oh, a piloswine.'' Personally he would have never owned such a pokemon. It wasn't a ghost for one, but beyond that it looked so... mundane. Although it also appeared as cuddly as they came, ~~a bit like Aedan himself~~. He tentatively reached out to join in on the petting, and found the creature's mane coarse and wiry. Well, it was good for some protection he supposed.

''Yanmega...'' The pokemon scolded her trainer, but the reprimand was so light that Andy barely noticed.

For those quiet moments, he laid there, cheek to bed annoyed that this evening wouldn't be as entertaining as he would have liked. Alas, he could only do so much if he had to just lay there. It was tough to rely on just his charming personality. He thought perhaps Epitaph could assist some, but given the silence and his visual absence, Andy assumed he had vacated the premises.

When Hideo mentioned dancing with another person, Andy blinked. Up until that moment, he was going to go all in, full on break dancing, popping and locking... But it seemed the other boy expected something a little more traditional, and a little less garish. Holding his mouth to one side for a quiet moment, it probably would make more sense to start slow.

''Yeah. Dancing with a partner requires some coordination. Fortunately for you, trust and going by feel is typically what you rely on more than your eyes.'' Perhaps Hideo knew more than he let on, and had looked into types of dancing beforehand, picking what would be easiest for him. Slow dancing was a little intimate, so that would be strange. He had only done it with John Sullivan.

''Just let me get the maestro.'' Stepping around his guest for a pace or two, he cupped his hands to his mouth. ''Hey shithead! Get down here! Class is in session!'' One of the balconies that overlooked the yard was connected to his room, where he had purposefully left the door ajar. After a moment Epitaph appeared with a little stereo and hovered over the railing to the ground.

''Gengar...'' The creature looked none to pleased to be made to participate, but Andy had warned that it was mandatory previous to the kid's arrival. ''Pick something slow since that's how were starting. Keep your eyes peeled, mate. Don't let him fall or nothing.'' The gengar looked bored already.

''Gengar.'' Epitaph rolled his eyes before turning to fiddle with the buttons on the digital stereo. Andy came to the front of the other boy and, not trying to seem to snatchy, took ahold of both of his hands. ''Right. For basic slow dancing, the male leads. So I'll follow your pace this time.'' Keeping Hideo's left in his, he set his right just above his own hip.

''Normally it's uh, a tad lower on a lass. But I ain't got no hips so...'' This was a little less uncomfortable anyway. Taking an audible breath, he then took hold of Hideo's shoulder with his now free hand. This was right so far as he remembered. ''Here we are,'' he said more for himself than Hideo. ''Feeling alright?''

It seemed as if the beast had calmed and was schmoozing it up with a red mountain of a man that even at his distance was unmistakable as none other than Zac Ramsay. Andy slung under his drifblim with duskull nearby just floated there awkwardly for a moment before he exchanged a look a Epitaph, who shrugged. He guessed it was over. Perhaps he had actually had some effect this time.

While there were probably still tauros running around, there were plenty of other trainers around to police them. What a night. Was the woman who accosted him really his mother? The pokemon were correct. It looked like her, but then a well trained team of dittos could pull off any manner of things. If someone was scheming something on him there would be hell to pay. It was something else to have a year's worth of paranoia finally come to fruition.

''Let's go back dirtside Zepp,'' he commanded. ''Drifblim.'' The pokemon descended to the ground slowly and Monocle followed along until they sat down by Epitaph. ''At least as disasters go this one wasn't too fucked.'' The gengar frowned. ''Gengar.'' There was the urge to seek out John Sullivan, but if he had sent Hideo off with an imposter and something happened to him, Doug would never forgive him.

''We'll leave the cleanup to the League's scrubs. Zepp, let's go home and check on Hideo. See what's going on with 'mom.''' The drifblim gave what looked like a concerned face. His balloon physiology made it hard to discern. ''Drif. Drifblim.'' Shadowy portals appeared underneath the four of them before they sank into the cool sheath of darkness. Andy had gotten comfortable with it.
