One of the younger lot needing the most attention and development he called Terawr from his pokéball.

The dino-tot looked as ready as ever for a battle. Rather than cower to the illustrious charisma and menace of the Luxray, the Tyrunt size it up for food.

Or at the very least, victory. "Terawr, ICE FANG!"
Bearing down on the Luxray with teeth fit to frostbite the Tyrunt was fearless and for good reason. The dino was half its height but two-thirds its weight.

Meaning it was sturdy enough to bring the Luxray down to size by biting away at its legs until it had none left.

Terawr used Ice Fang!

His dropped the comedy routine the moment he heard the words but Cait had a sense of humor herself.

Corroboration was required to navigate this potential minefield of a moment.

"Show me." his voice was calmed, restrained and trying to hide its own anticipation.

Staring at his phone screen he waited for the notification of a picture-text. Rather than begin to get worked up over details that weren't proverbially etched in stone yet, he cleared his mind.

Somewhere in the pit of his gut he didn't think Cait was fucking around but until she sent the picture, it wasn't real.

Once the Rolly-Poly started that forceful spinroll there wasn't much stopping it.

The best you could do was let it roll its own inertia away but Togedemaru were terribly skilled at controlling their rolls.

Crossing his arms Sénon merely continued to watch Adrian's pokémon carefully for now.

Was she done with her test already?

"Hello... Cait? Did you take the test?" With her phone still muted he couldn't hear anything but realizing he'd been talking to himself the last few minutes he started to grow suspicious which again, he undercut with comedy.

"You're not strumming those 'guitar strings' over there without me are you?"

"Uh oh." Reaching down he picked up the dinobabe by its thick ankle hoisting it up in the air to inspect its face.

Terawr usually starting getting nippy if he was flipped upside down, or you know, if he's conscious at all. "Time to get this one all healed up."

It was good to see Sam and useful to know he was living in Hoenn now. Despite only living here for a year Sénon already had over a dozen fallen pokémon laid to rest at Mt. Pyre.

To say the least of it, Sénon and Sam would be seeing each other again. He offered his hand in a earnest shake.

"I'm late on the take but Welcome to Hoenn. You'd best be training hard Ferryman. Death is for the living and Mt. Pyre ain't shrinking anytime soon."

Rather than call back the Tyrunt to his ball Sénon carried him by hand, off to the Slateport Pokémon Center. It was time for a break; get some lunch, get a drink...

then get back to the back to back beach battles.

Pleased with himself for being able to count he didn't even notice Cait had muted the phone.

"Yeah 'cause you know. Zac Ramsay and 'Tapu Bolo' ain't got nothing on me." He chuckled at the thought of it. "Most fertile man in all the land. I told you I'd have that implant of yours working overtime."

He'd never tell Cait he actually fancied himself a bit of a comedian and was constantly testing out new bits on her.

He scratched absent-minded at his chest, waxing poetic about the inevitability of his swimmers eventually reaching fertile soil. "I was actually born swimming towards an egg you know? So my boys are like instinctual egg hunters. If I even walk past a group of exeggcute I start to get an ache down there."

Uh-oh. "Uhhh Cai." The admission of her testing before he left for Kanto was good evidence she wasn't pregnant but his face twisted into a wince to have to be the one to give her the 'bad' news.

"Its been more like seven weeks." She really was working a lot if she misjudged the timing. New job directly with Silph Co., her bethrothed across the sea and an ever growing legion of pokémon to tend to. It made sense she'd lost track of time.

That meant she hadn't been pregnancy tested in over eight weeks and he recalled the morning he left for Kanto being a particularly charged session.

At two months pregnant even a tiny thing like Cait wouldn't necessarily be showing, but how long did it take for morning sickness to settle in?

"After my team was killed standing against Rocket I barely escaped in one piece. I needed a place to recover and had family here already." His parents had moved from Kanto while he was still working on his plating and garnish arrangements in Kalos. "Had to hide until I was strong enough to fight back again."

Now he was the one who didn't want to get into the minutia of his own backstory.

What interested him more was the nuance in details about Sam's relocation to Hoenn. What it meant in regards to Rocket occupancy and the growth of Sam's family.

It gave Sénon some ideas, reminding him of his own family business and how Rocket affected it.

Team Rocket seemed to adopt a model of acquisition rather than assimilation in Kanto.

They didn't take over places individually, filling its staff with Rockets to control it from the inside they simply took over the entire region and left the functioning infrastructure in place.

His own uncle confirmed as much; the Game Corner in Goldenrod ran the same day to day as the one in Celadon. The only difference being Rockets have more money to burn than civilians and they're far more reckless in their spending.

The sound of a plopping thud brought him out of his thinking; Terawr feinting from its POISONED status.

^{A NEW START-UP COMPANY wants to remove the stigma behind poison-type Pokemon! They plan on creating clothes dyed with filtered Pokemon poisons. Sort of like tie-die tie-dye shirts. They are requesting Pokemon who can provide them with their beautifully colored toxins.}

Nearly nine months without action had seemingly zapped all the spunk and flare out of the pure white Poipole as it sat with Sénon in a sterile lab.

Extracting toxins from an Ultra Beast was still more or less uncharted waters but thanks to the spoils of the Three Day War,
They knew a lot more than they did a year ago.

In many ways the poison-spewing ultra beast had become more docile than normal earth-based pokémon. He still felt so weird even thinking such a sentence to himself despite personally facing off against the Megalopolans in Lilycove.

Still, he was in support of the idea of building better PR for poison-types and Poipole needed the friendly rebranding more than any other poison type, so it was only right one of their kind pay it forward and be on the forefront of this whole 'tye-dyes from toxins' effort.

Help who you can, how you can, where you can, whenever you can. Even if that help is just making your baby space squid splurt bodily fluids into a sample jar.

It didn't go unnoticed, the shift in his body language over Lanvender Town and its standing with himself and his mother.

He wanted for clarity and so Sénon took in his words carefully.

He made it clear his being in Hoenn had nothing to do with a loss or faltering of the Pokémon Tower. It seemed Sam's mother was still in charge there.

Sam was simply making his own path; expanding the Family's reach and the much needed service they brought to this balance between human and pokémon lives.

The way he clarified showed he had pride in what he did, in what he was. That was always a uplifting thing to see; someone who chased down their own purpose with a dogged dedication. "That's a relief to hear actually."

When Razz took the shotglass Sénon clanked his own shot against it in toast.

"Cheers to the Summer Sun and the fires of life." Discreetly, he shot a wink at the other once-Rocket for being a good sport whilst Sénon always found a way to bring up fire when they worked or hung out.

Before everyone could start to empty Fernando's pockets the ranger sent for two more shots. Watching Kingsman slowly sip down his shot Sénon had another triple.

With six shot settling in his gut the Cinnabarian knew enough about drinking to know it was time to throttle back. Still he wasn't ready to stop wetting his beak so he ordered something strong but cut with water and pieces of fruit.

One sip after another he settled in to the conversations at hand.

He had been bothered to hear Hoenn was heating up quite absurdly, it was the only reason not to go back.

A heat wave could have been the catalyst of her symptoms but there was another possibility that screamed at him.

It was his go-to answer so Cait would probably brush it off and confirm that she'd already tested negative.

"Are you sure you're not pregnant?"

It always made him feel so smugly proud to suspend that possibility in the air between them.

LAPRAS SWARM (SEASIDE SUMMER)

Magical thing about Hoenn was how something as simple as taking out your trash could lead to something almost miraculous.

Have you ever seen a herd of Lapras congregating and playing just beyond the shore and harbor? If you had you probably mount up on your Gyarados like Sénon did to watch them for a while just outside the perimeter of their gathering.

Weary as a lone Lapras might have been in sight of a Gyarados the gathered herd didn't pay the rageful dragon much thought. With a free pokéball ready the ranger waited patiently for a Lapras to break away from the group.

Particularly, one of those purple-ish ones.

He imagined they would disperse on their own sooner or later. If not, there would be a huge problem when the SS Tidal came to port.

"Toge, Rollout!" Curling into a ball everyone's second favorite Alolan Electric Rodent propelled himself forward aiming to crash into the face of the pumpkin-thing.

Anticipating only one of a few responses from Adrian the ranger carefully watching and waited to make his next move.
