"here we go!" he'd continue steering the boat at full speed ahead. while steering, he'd do his best to zigzag about. so as to make sure they weren't hit should their a returned fire. for now ian remained focused on steering, while allowing evangeline to remain on the offense. "hey," he shouted, "this reminds me of that one film you did!" he couldn't remember the specifics, but he did recall who she had worked on it with, "it was with that deonardo licaprio , man what a movie!"

ian would turn to see his starmie downed. "that's not good, that was my most reliable!" now he would need to get a new one. suddenly, evangeline came. the buzzswole caught his eye, and the last thing ian wanted was to deal with that monstrosity. "we're out of here!" starting the ignition, ian would drive without warning at full speed. where were they headed? anywhere but here.

ian started the boat and drove off with evangeline at full speed.

landing on the sandy shore holding his briefcase. starmie would merrily catch up soon after. as ian had ready himself to go poke evangeline, his attention had been captured by another beauty: the megalopolan ship. he was ecstatic to find one.

upon maneuvering toward the boat, he would come to see a buzzswole appear. as many gathered to face it, ian would order starmie to use POWER GEM to keep at bay and assist those combating against the ultra beast. while that was being done he would toss his briefcase onto the ship and began to search for anything technological. "the mega-whazzit should have something considered advanced technology, or at least i hope."

ian wanted to loot something worth a lot from them. he'd continue to search hard on the boat while waiting for the buzzswole to be dealt with.

- starmie has caught up. starmie used power gem on buzzswole.
- ian is searching the boat long and hard for goodies.

enhanced thunder was on its way to connect with the sea. there were multiple and ian couldn't dodge all of them; even if he could there was still a chance of being electrocuted due to being within the water. professor oak factored in every moment on how he could save himself, but that wouldn't get him and starmie anywhere. there was only one way to save himself and starmie from being hit or taking any form of secondary damage.

"spotlight!"

starmie's jewel shined a bright red. afterwards, a flash of light would be seen expelling from the sea and toward one of the airborne naganadel. should one of them be hit by starmie's light, all incoming electricity would come to be redirected toward that one naganadel and the megalopolan, should there be one, riding it. protecting both he, others who were in the sea, and wild pokemon nearby.

if they were successful, starmie could swiftly catch up with evangeline. thus allowing for ian and his party to aid them in battle against those on shore. should starmie's spotlight fail, starmie, without order, prepared to send to ian flying far with PYSCHIC in order to save its trainer. it wasn't as if it didn't have the capability to self-recover, right?

+ if unsuccessful, starmie readied to fling ian as a fail-safe with psychic in order to protect its trainer and would catch up later in order to perform recover, should it somehow survive.

using his trusted scope lens to survey the battle from the side. ian watched as the league tussled with the opposite enemy. but there was something moving from the lighthouse, where he hadn't been too far, that caught his attention. at the top there were two men stealthily flying forward. ian wasn't sure if they were league members or civilians, but they seemed eager to dive in.

that was not of his concern.

and as he looked straight ahead once more, something, or rather someone, caught his attention. sneakily they moved, zooming in with his single lens device. it would come to catch a recording of none other than evangeline. from behind he knew that booty from anywhere. just what was the actress doing here? why was she heading on her own?

though ian worked for the league, he wasn't obligated to do his part to assist the people he despised. he only came here to find something worth risking it all. this was a once in a lifetime, and for some reason ian felt as though evangeline could help with that. how does he know this? he doesn't, but if he knew anything about the famous actress, due to proclaiming to be a big fan of her work, it was that she had something exciting that would lead him to some nice looting.

with his briefcase in hand, he'd place the item back. with the aid of his starmie, ian took off. calling upon it for assistance to guide him. "make sure you stay close, but keep your distance! we're following my fair lady. make sure you keep her in sight." starmie understood, only for it to afterward raise its defense parameters with COSMIC POWER.

ian had no clue where evangeline was going, but with team and suitcase. he couldn't wait to get some data out of this war. too bad he would miss the big battle that was ongoing upon the shore.

"boop!" a straw hat would come to be placed atop of the eager trainer's head. leaning over the youth's shoulder, breath emitting the smell of mint flavored gum. ian would try to get a grasp of how far out the terrible, hungry group of mareanie were. "that's enough time to prep." removing himself from hovering over the kid. he'd look back to his lucario, "bring the stuff!"

a large briefcase would come to be thrown before the duo. lucario releasing the item to his trainer, "i can't believe they sent a kid to help me." entering the code to the metallic casing, he'd open it and began to rummage about. "are you a trainer? you seemed really eager to handle this on your own, i hope you're not the hotheaded type. those type sure have the brevity of a dragon-type, but the brain of a psyduck!"

Rufio McGillis

"the name's ian oak, i prefer "professor o" or ian. you can pick." his drink handed to him. ian would pass togepi his plate of poffin. placing it on the ground for the child pokemon to eat. "i'm just a guy who's got an eye for the unnaturally gifted, a love for science, and a degree in coolology." reaching into his pocket and pulling out a spliff, he'd reach into his other in search of his lighter.

"you're a walkin' test subject. someone who cheated death: undead lan is what they call you." they being him. "i just wanted to see what you were like in person, and..." he'd think, the spliff held within ian's mouth as he stroked his own chin, "...you sort of have a deadbeat vibe to you, and you reek of alcohol. for a guy with his father's brain, you sure as hell do your best to make sure you're your own person." he respected that.

raising a finger he'd sign for water. undead lan here, being beckett carlson, could really use it. "are you worried about something, stressed? or do you want me to believe the son of a scientist is a serious alcoholic." ian would finally find his lighter. igniting the spliff and taking a casual inhale, and a soft exhale after.

a simple catch.

he didn't expect the interaction to be so sudden. casually he'd place the hat back upon her head, a cheeky grin worn, "hats are expensive, little lady. be careful not to lose this! summer's not over yet, but that fall breeze sure is on the horizon." the whistling winds caused the tailcoat of his lab coat to maneuver about.

with a large briefcase in his hand. the slipper donning professor would continue, "i don't think i've seen you around littleroot before." ian would try to get a better look at the woman beneath her summer hat. "are you a newcomer lookin' for a pokemon? i hate to break it to you but the pokemon i currently have in my possession aren't ready for a new trainer yet." ian's been so busy with personal work tat he hasn't been able to exactly help the league's trainers of tomorrow. "i hope you didn't travel all the way from somewhere far!" it would be pretty bad to send her back home empty-handed.

avery jones

with a togepi at his side. the professor entered the stray. the place reeked of booze, and who happened to be here? the league's favorite nepotized prodigal genius, "the zombie." ian spoke upon taking a seat one stool over. "so this is what you do with your second chance at life, son of casslus beckett."

as the bartender came over, ian would order, "a whiskey sour, one for me and the walking dead here!" before the bartender could depart, ian would add, "oh, and something for my pokemon here! togepi's famished too, my little ladies man. you deserve a well-earned rest!" ian cooed, speaking to togepi as if it were an adorable baby; which it was.

but back to beckett carlson .

"to be meeting the son of someone i had the pleasure to work with and learn from, you're really not much like your dad." though he sure did resemble him. the kid had some good genes. a total waste if you asked ian.

"it's not dude, it's "professor o" to you!" he stomped, pointing toward the inpatient character. he'd reach into his pocket in order to pull out what looked to be cellular device, but that wasn't the case: it was a pokedex. "a golisoped, can't say i'm surprised to see something like that here! you must be a real champion, haha; alright, here we go!" releasing two ball capsules from the palm of his hands, he would send out his starmie and ditto. the pair unveiling themselves in a flash of white light.

"ditto, transform!" the blob of purple jell-o would shift into ditto!blaziken. though he spoke of sending out lucario, ian decided to make an executive decision and switch it up a bit. this match-up seemed way more fun in his head. "cosmic power, starmie!" he commanded. the pokemon, radiating beautifully, would come to cloak itself with a second layer of defense.

"go easy on us, we're pretty new to this!" ian stated.

Lulu Flint

"this is nice, this is nice!" the professor commented. a hand stroking the end of his chin. donning a white lab coat and casual sandals for footwear. ian examined the scenery laid out before him. "so this is where all the rough and tough gather. this is a great place to study pokemon!" his body would come to cringe as he shook with excitement, screaming, "this is so cooooooool!" a togepi would come to emerge from behind the professor, mimicking his physical actions; arms, together, were risen.

"no matter how old i get i'll never get bored of this, your pokemon has a great build!" with his keen eye, the professor would extend his hand before him. a rectangle formed out of his fingers as if he were preparing to take a picture. he'd analyze the blaziken, "mirror move and blaze kick, i can only wonder what else your blaziken is capable of. his height is average, but that build definitely speaks volumes. i can see a bond between the two of you!" a crowd began to boo and jeer at the professor, demanding he get the show on the road.

but he didn't care.

"hey, hey, what sort of pokemon would you prefer to fight? i got a lucario and a ditto. i think the ditto would be interesting, but lucario could use the training and i could use the data, haha! how about dude?" he couldn't exactly tell underneath the hoodie if they were a woman or man, but he didn't care. "the name's professor o, what's yours?"
