Unfortunately, just as Remiel reaches down to grab the captured Chimchar and straightens in posture, the ball that Razz has thrown strikes him dead on the forehead. There's no cry or yelp of pain. Simply a wince and a short grunt, followed by a gentle assessment of the injury with a pat of his hand as he stares down at the ground. The awkward silence is palpable... but it is broken by a random Makuhita that casually strolled out from the bush to asses Remiel itself... before slapping his back with a FORCE PALM in a gesture of goodwill.[break][break]

The act causes Remiel to stumble forward and just barely catch himself from falling. It also summons Limitanei to his side immediately, and the small legion make quick work of the otherwise jolly Makuhita with CLOSE COMBAT. After their master has recomposed himself from the two 'attacks', he fixes his collar and turns towards the fallen Makuhita. He pulls a ball out from his bag to capture it, then reaches down to pick up Razz's gift as well. "I suppose that is payment enough, hm?" He says rather nonchalantly.[break]

Razz sighs in relief with the fire now gone, damn fire pokemon was all he could think for the moment. Though now with the fire clear he did manage to catch the end of the pokeball he tossed pop off the other's head making him snicker a bit. He is quick to check on Link after though noting the burn they received. Link makes a comment that he can't clearly understand from him but Salem makes sure to translate a bit. "Got the wrong pokemon?" he questioned as he looks down at the pokeball he threw. "I'll check it later, but for now rest," he tells him as he returned the grass type to his pokeball. [break][break]

He ignores the baby pokemon as they seem to be on the end of running away with the others that tried attacking as he tosses out another pokeball bringing out Duncan. "Think you can keep up?" he teases the small dragon knowing his little problems about performance in front of others as the little dragon nods seeming determined. [break][break]

At the mention of payment Razz can't help but be a bit childish, trying to mimic something either his brother or Salem would do by blowing a raspberry at the other. "Nothing to pay for, just take the gift."

Remiel instinctively narrows his eyes with suspicion at the gesture of goodwill... but eventually clips the ball to his belt. "Very well. Thank you. It be cared for well, and will want for nothing." He assured the young man, contemplating whether Calcifet Palace was in need of an extra guard dog.[break][break]

Meanwhile, the trail they followed began to grow smoky... until, finally, they reached the source of the wildfire ahead: a Magcargo, the staple of Lavaridge Town's wilderness. The fiery slug weaved between the trees obliviously, setting their branches and leaves aflame and leaving ruin in its wake. Though a swarm of Sizzlipede seemed to frolic and enjoy the abundance of flames, Remiel set out to put a stop to its wanton acts of accidental arson.[break][break]

The little legion huffs in unison and charges forward, but then stop and pull away when the sheer shimmering heat of the slug hits them. Sighing, Remiel pulls a luxury ball out from his pack and tosses it at the Magcargo instead.[break]

"Good to hear, see was accepting the gift so hard?" he chuckled part of him curious as to why it was so hard to give the other the gift as the continued along the path. Some panic came up at the smell of smoke from not to far away, and sure enough a fire was loose. Razz cursed in his head before taking action as he whistled at Duncan, though the dragon seemed to panic some as first oh no fire, another right lots of mons to attack he needed to think! Oh wait was was that whistle again!? "Earthquake," Razz was quick to order to snap the dragon out of it. Doing just that to strike and hit the fire worms that filled the fire of the forest. [break][break]

Not wanting to be slowed down by Duncan nerves to take action, and help the trees Razz called out Azlua since Duncan took out the Sizzlipede. He whistled again and the Empoleon used WHIRLPOOL awhile Remiel took it on himself to knock out the source. She lifts the whirlpool above her head before just allowing the large pool of water to drop down to dowse the flames and washing away a few of the fire worms. Razz very much didn't mind getting wet if he could avoid the fire. "Always a problem type," he couldn't help but grumble not even bothering to catch them as they were out, but he was going to make sure no more fire was about.

"Nothing is ever truly free..." Remiel mutters quietly in reply as they begin to make their way through the charred remains of forest in the canyon pass. Regardless, Razz likely hadn't heard him as the Empoleon unleashed its spiraling torrent of water and quelled what remained of the wildfire. When the path ahead was clear of stinging flames, Limitanei rushed forward to scout ahead. They disappeared over a small, smoky hill.[break][break]

"You train all types of pokémon, it seems," Remiel suddenly speaks, regarding Razz and his Empoleon as he pulls a handkerchief out from his front shirt pocket. He pats his face and neck dry of a few droplets of water that landed on him. "How long have you been a trainer?"[break][break]

It's only when he lowers the handkerchief to look at it again that he realizes a thin film of soot has been covered his exposed skin as well. Slightly bothered by the fact, but knowing full well there was little to be done about it, Remiel gives himself one last wipe before tucking the handkerchief away.[break][break]

Just after he's finished, Limitanei reappears from atop the hill... carrying a Torkoal belly-up. They victoriously chant and march along with their prize until they reach their master, stopping to present the dopey turtle proudly. Amused, Remiel produces an empty ball from his pack and taps it against the Torkoal.[break]

Despite the fire being gone Razz still couldn't help but be tense, it was like he could only tolerate so much and keep his cool but the fire was beginning to get to him. Salem just squeezed his trainer's shoulder before meowing something about breathing in and out so just just followed suit. It helped a bit at least, "Thanks Azula," he tells her before returning her back to her pokeball as he heard the other's comment. "Well since joining the Rangers I found diversity to be useful, I mean just look at the fire now," he gestures to the burnt trees they past, "While I'm sure if we were creative enough we could have put out the embers eventually, but no where as easy as with a water pokemon."[break][break]

"As for being a trainer technically before I came of trainer age? Though I never did any traditional trainer stuff like the-" He was about to elaborate at least a bit until out of nowhere Razz was knocked over by Duncan and some blue blurr with a hard oof. Covered in ash the Tyrunt sat on his trainer's chest roaring and growling along side a Riolu who was sitting on to the dragon's head also covered in soot. "Okay okay slow down and off," he struggled to get out considering the dragon's weight, pushing him off slightly as Razz got himself up, hopefully the little dino didn't just crush his ribcage there. "Okay now slooooower..." he even lengthens the word to emphasize what he wanted. [break][break]

Tyrunt then seems to tell a tale with his growls and body language with how he met the Riolu, and the epic adventure the two of them had. At times the little aura pokemon seemed to fill in details of their little epic, but Razz indulged them by listening. When they were finally done both seemed out of breath from all their talking and excitement, "Sounds like you two had yourself an adventure, well if you want to have more you're free to join us," he looks to the Riolu who seems to nod at him. Razz really didn't have the heart to tell the two he didn't understand a word they said, and even more so he doesn't understand how they had such a long story when Tyrunt wasn't gone that long after his attack on the fire worms. [break][break]

It was in a ranger's best interests to be resourceful. In fact, it was in everyone's own best interests to be resourceful. But Remiel was pleased to see Razz wasn't the sort to stubbornly pledge himself to one type of pokémon. It showed a great deal of flexibility and eagerness to learn. The specialities came after one has explored their options and gained a basic understanding of each type. At least, he thought so.[break][break]

Remiel observes as the Tyrunt and the wild Riolu tell the trainer of their adventure, and for a moment he ponders whether Razz can actually understand them. Regardless, he turns back ahead to see that Limitanei has beaten and captured yet another foe that they carry on its back. The Numel groans and wiggles its stump-like legs. The dark-haired prince sighs and pulls out an empty pokéball that it taps against its head.[break][break]

"The air is still polluted here. Let's keep moving, shall we?"[break]

Razz chuckled as the Riolu said yes and it made Duncan excited in a way that made the dino leap with joy. The ranger always looking to make his pokemon happy so all he really did was watch as the two began to run ahead of them to explore more. At times sure it felt like all he had was children to work with, but they definitely made his day more interesting. In their excitement they missed a Braixen meditating. [break][break]

"Sounds good," Razz coughs out still recovering a bit from the Tyrunt basically crushing his chest. Razz notes the way the Falinks bring his trainer a pokemon a top their head to his trainer. And for a moment pauses as he thinks of the way most of Remiel's pokemon have been. "So how long have you been a trainer? Your pokemon seem so much more tame in comparison to mine, I'm guessing thats through the way you train them?" he ask noting how well behave all of the pokemon the other has shown. Especially in comparison to his own, not that the Ranger mind really. He used to train his pokemon with an iron fist because that's what was beaten into him, so he wanted this different style now.

Having had enough of this merciless brigade kidnapping his canyon friends, a Raboot tried rather foolishly to HEADBUTT the Falinks marching head. The act was met with a harsh COUNTER that slammed the bunny backwards against a flaming log. It tried to retaliate with a FLAME CHARGE but was shoved back with CLOSE COMBAT and ganged upon by the armored dwarves. Remiel sighed to see it.[break][break]

"I'm a graduate of Hammerlocke University. Academics and pokémon training went hand-in-hand there, though it is clear Limitanei here has yet to learn restraint." He lightly scolded the Falinks, pulling an empty ball from his pack before crouching down to tap it against the unconscious Raboot's forehead. The little legion, in the meantime, regrouped behind their master with a sullen look on their faces. "I've been a trainer... practically my whole life." Remiel continued in the meantime, straightening in posture and turning to Razz.[break]

"Hammerlocke? Sorry I'm unfamiliar with the University, but I'm sure that's more on my lack of knowledge of Galar," Razz apologizes to the other though already impressed by the other's schooling. And since the other has mentioned being from a palace before so he could assume the school was more likely high end. All Razz had under his belt was homeschooling. "Always fun to start early," he comments half heartedly honestly wishing he could chosen how to do things but back then everything was controlled. [break][break]

As they caught up with his pokemon he watches the end bit of what seems to be a sparing match between his new Riolu and a wild Mienfoo, both seeming a bit beaten up and both with a determination in their eye not to lose. Razz just stayed where he was not wanting to interfere to examine what the Riolu needing to work on and his strengths. With a final rush the two used FORCE PALM against each other in a similar fashion as two samurais drawing their blades at each other. A beat or two passed before the Mienfoo went down and Riolu stood victorious, Duncan celebrated his buddy's victory by picking the other up and cheering. "Nice work," Razz congratulated before using a pokeball to capture to fallen foe thinking they would make a good sparing partner for Riolu later too.
