What better to drill into the mountain than a Pokemon as big and as powerful as a Steelix? Stormy sends the Pokemon by itself, passing the beasts Pokeball along and assuring the people that it has been well-trained and capable. For the most part, the immense Pokemon works solo alongside another few Steelix, physically drilling new tunnels deeper into Rusturf tunnel.[break][break]

Rock chunks blast around him and the people working alongside the dual-type are encouraged to keep their distance. In the confusion, however, several precious gems and evolution stones are jostled loose, warranting good spirits for the mining crew. At this rate, they would be done by nightfall.[break][break]

Despite being a ground-type itself, Claydol never once touches it. It may spin, it may levitate above it, it may even touch the surface of it with its psychic prod, but it always remains floating above.

Even now, when it’s tasked with a job that called for digging in search of unique gems and crystals that could empower pokemon.

Without having to turn and search for its next target, Claydol simply makes use of its many eyes. Whenever it seems to find a worthy lead, it pursues it with a PSYBEAM - shattering through rocks and splitting the ground to reveal the treasures buried underneath.

this is the perfect job for the excadrill. finally it can do what it does best and what it loves most. the pokemon unsheathes its claws and disappears deep into the earth, boring tunnels with ardent glee.

periodically, the pokemon will surface to toss its findings out at any human overseer, but then just as quickly the pokemon will dart back into the darkness.

Amidst miners and Pokemon, a second Steelix works alongside the first. Prized beast of one Patrick Cavalli, Steelix's rough golden hide reflects the light cast from lanterns hung around its serpentine form. Though usually content to hand off the pokeball of whatever creature he'd committed to a job such as this, Gavin stays behind long enough to remove the pin from his glasses; his Steelix was powerful, but MEGA-EVOLVED, the shape of its head is even better suited for shoveling large chunks of earth.[break][break]

There is ulterior motive. This place could well be an archaeological marvel, and Gavin had wanted at least a glimpse of the site.[break][break]

Once it is left to its own devices, Steelix rumbles and sets to its task. Dust and rock are left in its wake, tunnels bored deep into the earth to expose the precious treasures within. Such treasures are of little interest to the titan, whose thick tail carelessly tosses them aside. Miners are left to sift through debris to rescue the objects of their desire, for the dual-type is here to dig, and dig it does.

Moana blinked, dismayed.

Poor Baffo flopped around helplessly, the little Barboach having no real method to unearth the mysteries of the underground.

...they had said to bring ground-types, okay?

Whatever. Moana had brought some of his other Pokemon, and they could help, ground type or not. Moana smiled as Sheru did the work where Baffo could not, the Kabutops using precise strokes of her arm-scythes to unearth valuable veins of stone as the Barboach watched, no longer flopping and merely interested.

Moana thought of the people who'd asked for dragon types in their films. First that, and now this. Would people ever learn?

[attr="class","simpleMain"]there are better pokemon for a job like this, but blue doesn't want to disappoint his trainer. as the other pokemon chip away at the rock face, hard at work, the dual-type stands slightly back from the group. hesitant. eventually, he'll take a step forward and launch at the crumbling rock with BRICK BREAK. he's not as quick as the other pokemon, but a strain of evolution stones emerges soon enough.

Perhaps it would be strange to send a Swampert to help construct a tunnel. Why not send his Steelix instead? But Josh had an idea before sending the Swampert out. The stone on the gauntlet attached to the Swampert's wrist began to glow and all of a sudden, Dunamus began to get buffer... And buffer... And buffer... And buffer. The mine shakes as the Mega Swampert reels back and unleashes a pummeling on the walls of the mine that would be told in legends.

No rock, no boulder, no wall or stone will stop Mega Swampert from bringing complete annihilation.

The sounds of claws scraping against rock echoed down a deep tunnel. Within, Musta the garchomp was hard at work smashing through the stone if the mountainside. His claws acted as superb pickaxes, digging through ores with unequal ease. Taking a moment to wipe sweat from his eyes, Musta looked back at how far he had come.

The light of the outside world seemed so far away, and yet he had so far to go. He huffed, turning back toward the wall he was excavating. Maybe if he finished this tunnel quickly he could go home early.
