PRESSURE MOUNTS as casualties continue to rise. Those able to survive will find their bodies tampered with. Evidence of the Ultra Beast’s influence come in the form of black, crystalline growths. Not all of them are the same in size or shape but they all become a form of the Pokemon’s bodily structure. As if reorganizing the host’s skeletal structure, some Pokemon find themselves undergoing forced evolution in order to adapt. [break][break]
The deft maneuver from
SHADOW LUGIA allows it to catch Necrozma by surprise. Its
SHADOW STORM hits like a truck, knocking the Pokemon back as its lifted by the violent cyclone. It struggles to break free from the winding winds, descending onto the floor for solid ground, stabilizing just in time for
LARVITAR’S SANDSTORM to deliver a second helping. Coarse grains try to sand down the unknown surface of the Pokemon but that too fails. The subsequent
EARTHQUAKE more than makes up for it as uprooted earth splinter underneath, stabbing at its exposed underside. [break][break]
That opening is enough for everyone else to dogpile in. Valerio’s
GALARIAN DARUMAKA sneaks in a bite, holding the Necrozma back from retaliating as the smaller Pokemon hangs on to dear life. Its
INNER FOCUS allows it to also summon an
AVALANCHE from above. Likewise, Razz’s
LINOONE uses the nearby water to cause its own avalanche by freezing the water with
ICE BEAM. Together, they manage to batter the Pokemon into being frozen. Ice encases the Necrozma and it remains motionless. [break][break]
[break][break]
Until it breaks free. Whatever this creature is, it’s tenacious. It’s able to to brute force its way through anything they can throw at them. Even Katherine’s
MILTANK’S attack seems lackluster before it. The
ZEN HEADBUTT does nothing to it, unfazed as the
MILKTANK can feel the lack of impact behind the Psychic attack. The
PLAY ROUGH and
HORSE POWER feel like the have greater impact but no matter how
SCRAPPY the Pokemon is, that means nothing when it’s crushed in the Necrozma’s claws. Its portly stomach helps cushion the blow and the Pokemon manages to survive despite being tossed away like unwanted scraps. [break][break]
Kyle’s
SILVALLY lets out a confident
METAL SOUND that rings more like a notification than an actual attack. The Ultra Beast stirs its innate aggression but great care is put into combating something it isn’t trained to fight. It takes the entirety of the massacre for the
SILVALLY to analyze the foreign Ultra Beast. Whatever information it’s able to derive is passed through its
RKS SYSTEM and written onto a physical disc stored in its brain. The hidden metallic drive from its head comes loose and fires the
NECROZMA MEMORY straight toward Kyle. Its own body starts to turn black to help blend in with the darkness. [break][break]
[break][break]
Stormy’s
SPINARAK descends from above and covers the Necrozma with
SPIDER WEBS created from
TOXIC THREADS. This seems to also hold the Pokemon for a second as it gets used to the unfamiliar material. The sticky texture of the threads seems to confuse the Pokemon — clearly a new experience it has yet to encounter. [break][break]
It doesn’t get long to struggle against the webbing as the silk is burnt by Kyle’s
FLETCHLING and Stormy’s
MOLTRES.
EMBERS and
HEATWAVE light the Pokemon on fire as the flames dance against the Necrozma’s smooth surface. It starts to absorb this too in preparation for another
PRISMATIC LASER. However, Balder’s
ALAKAZAM puts a stop to this with its
DISABLE. The hold the
ALAKAZAM has on the enemy is a constant struggle as the Ultra Beast’s prisms start to flash violently. [break][break]
The
PSYCHIC blast it fires off does nothing. It’s almost like the attack doesn’t even exist. The
ROLE PLAY is a different story. It works but the
ALAKAZAM is unable to convey any information as the bond it shares with Necrozma instantly overpowers it.
PRISM ARMOR starts to protrude from the Pokemon’s joints, several crystal spires poking out from the Pokemon’s skin. It fall unconscious in a series of painful convulsions. [break][break]
Unable to use its default attack, the Necrozma reaches deeper into its arsenal. It starts to rise, hands outstretched as void opens up above it. Despite being a black mass of negative energy it radiates light. Sickly pink hues, a remnant of its great rival, illuminate the attack well enough that some might recognize it. [break][break]
BLACK HOLE ECLIPSE [break][break]
[break][break]
Kyle’s
SILVALLY snarls in recognition, turning to grab its trainer by the collar and darting away as fast as it possibly can. The rest will not be as fortunate. The
BLACK HOLE ECLIPSE pulls in everything. The hundreds of dead Pokemon and countless collateral property damage all hurtle toward the vortex as it continues to expand. Anyone not directly connected with their Pokemon such as Razz, Valerio, Balder, and Katherine are able to avoid being swallowed up by fleeing to seek shelter. [break][break]
Gavin,
SHADOW LUGIA, Stormy, and
MOLTRES are not as fortunate. Both Legendary Pokemon are pulled in as Necrozma’s main targets. Gravity twists inwards as they near the center. Both riders are able to hang on but they can feel their birds lose their energy the longer they’re held within the blackhole. The Z-Move ends with an explosion and both Pokemon are thrown to the floor below, exhausted, and edging their limits. [break][break]
Having tried to leech from
SHADOW LUGIA earlier, the Necrozma sets its sight on the tastier option of
MOLTRES. The way the Kanto legend is able to illuminate Necrozma’s
DARK ZONE is too alluring to pass up. Like a Mothim to a flame, the Ultra Beast pounces, shoving its claw onto
MOLTRES’ head and holding it down as it tries to sap the Legendary’s life force. The darkness that surrounds them probes along the
MOLTRES’ entirety until it finds a weak spot:
underneath a teem of black feathers, pink flames and flesh burn with a different, conflicting intensity. [break][break]
[break][break]
Kyle’s
COSMOEM follows after him. Internally, it debates over their predicament. Does it fall in
line due to fear or does it
defend its trusted trainer? [break][break]
