With their combined effort, the wall finally gave way to reveal a deep dark tunnel ahead. Sarisse cowered behind his legs as the last of the rocky debris fell. The sounds and whispers she heard coming from up ahead seemed to unnerve the Lopunny.[break][break]

Remiel returned her to the luxury ball from whence she had come before long, swapping it with another and summoning a Starmie instead. He turned to regard his crew as the star began to slowly ILLUMINATE, floating in the air and facing the abyss ahead.[break][break]

"Good work. Seems like we'll need more light moving ahead. Perhaps a few pokémon at the ready to guard us, as well." He adds, turning back to the tunnel to lead the way.[break][break]

After a brief illumination from the pokeball, an Alolan marowak appeared.

Wak!'' Skull clad lizard spun their bone briefly, channeling fire blast into each end to cause them glow brightly, as if it were a twin torch.

Angelo got what he had wanted, egging the teenager to spit out some crude and humorous retaliation, leaving him to forcibly swallow a laugh when Andy rounded on both himself and Skyler. Even if it was at the cost of being labelled as the sailor’s ‘Ho ass man’. He wasn’t sure how to feel about that one.

“There’s no need to be embarrassed,” he hums out in a playfully condescending tone, an arm daring to flop over the teenager’s shoulder. “We all know the infamous teenage mood swings are just a code for wanting some attention. I gotcha, we’ve all been there.” He smirks, daring to give Andy’s cheek a pinch with a wicked grin, standing back up from being crouched amongst the rubble before he has a chance to be slapped away.

Whether he’s collected by her or not, Angelo steps towards Skyler, taking note that Dorado had climbed his way to perch on the sailor’s shoulder and was purring as he nuzzled into her neck. Angelo let the gremlin snuggle up to her for a few moments longer, knowing he’d get clawed if he attempted to pull the Meowth off. “Aren’t you lucky, Slugger?” His mouth is curled into a small smirk, amusement sparkling within blue eyes and sarcasm rolling neatly off the tongue; covering up a complicated fondness with mischief. “To have me as your plain, 'ho ass man'.”

After Dorado has gotten a cuddle in with his favourite person, Angelo returns him to his pokeball out of claw reach. “For the record, you shouldn’t listen to the little ankle biter. That helmet is very flattering on you, you can barely notice the circumference of your head anymore.” Angelo brings his arms out, as if measuring something, flat palms hovering around Skyler’s shoulders on either side to mimic the width of her theoretically huge skull.

Beyond them sat the darkness, noises rumbling faintly in the distance, as they stood at the divide between their former trail and the dim unknown. Angelo digs around in his pocket for an appropriate pokemon. He tosses Caelum’s pokeball skyward, the Magneton released in a burst of light that did little to puncture through the darkness in the next cavern, floating for a moment before sending out a thunder wave over their heads, sparks pushed outwards and illuminating the stone walls like the tide.

Skyler suddenly found her attention drifting away from the bickering duo as a spoiled Dorado climbed up her arm and started to purr, finding a perch on her shoulders like a makeshift scarf. His steely coat was somewhat rough, but the sailor didn't care, instead cooing at the feline, scratching under his chin and smiling widely at the mischief in the cat's wide smile. "Did you get to train that punch I taught you the other day, honey?"

Needless to say, the sailor didn't pay much attention to what was happening around her. She smirked at Andy's comment to 'get her ho ass man', but before she could say anything about it, Angelo himself was turning to her and speaking, trouble alight in his ocean blue eyes. "My plain 'ho ass man', huh?" She let her eyes scan him from top to bottom, biting her lip to contain the sudden influx of laughter that threatened to emerge. "Bit of a long name, don't you think? H.A.M. is much easier. Just rolls off the tongue."

Much to her chagrin, Angelo called Dorado back to his pokéball. Quicksilver eyes flashed fire up at her adventuring buddy when he tried to use his arms to illustrate the size of her head. She lowered her voice. "Careful Angel, I don't think you fancy having a bite after this." The words left in their wake a devilish smirk, wholly unashamed at that particular reference.

She turned on the heels of her feet and walked to Remiel, having to squint to be able to see even a few meters ahead. Three pokémon, it seemed, were not enough to keep their path well-illuminated.

Rolling her shoulders back in preparation, Skyler released a pokémon into the air, the small whale-like Lanturn taking shape in the space above the sailor and promptly falling into her arms. Like a sack of bricks.

Skyler huffed, bringing the heavy water type under her arm with a grunt of effort and making sure that the pokémon was... somewhat... comfortable. "Alright there, Koon?"

Fortunately, with Lanturn's ILLUMINATE ability it became a lot easier to see the path ahead. A jolt of excitement went through Skyler at the thought of what they had yet to uncover. "You first, Remiel. You're the boss."

Thus, they timidly scurry away or continue to watch from afar with ominous curiosity. Suddenly, the earth groans. The ground underneath you shakes. Stalactites fall from the ceiling and as your party attempts to find cover, rubbles smothers the path from whence you came and obscures the routes ahead.[break][break][break]

The presence of pokémon in the depths of the caverns became abundantly clear after the progressed through the opening they had made. Remiel returned Zasa to its luxury ball when the natural lighting became clear enough for them to proceed alone. If he had to guess, they had local bioluminescent fungi to thank for that.[break][break]

Before they could enjoy their pleasant stroll through the peaceful depths for too long, however, the earth began to shake with a terrible groan, loosening stalactites from above that sent the ambassador leaping for cover beneath the ridge of a rock. When he noticed the shaking of earth refusing to subside after a few seconds, and the path ahead of them slowly beginning to close like the path behind them had, Remiel reached for a luxury ball and forced himself out.[break][break]

"We must make it to the other side as quickly as possible! Go!" He urged his teammates, releasing a Lucario from her luxury ball that immediately began to run alongside him without a word. Summoning a bone-shaped staff of blue energy (BONE RUSH), she whacked away any falling stalactites or rubble that threatened to harm her master or get in their way.[break][break]

Of course the other two continued their flirting. It was flirting, right? It looked like flirting to him. Probably going to slip off into the darkness any minute to bump uglies.

After the darkness was traversed, the cave seemed to give behind them, causing to the boy to stare wide-eyed over his shoulder from whence they had came. It hadn't occurred to him that caves could be dangerous. Perhaps the presence of royalty give him the impression that nothing bad could happen. After all, Galarian royalty couldn't just be randomly smashed by a rock.

All of the other eyes peeking out at the group didn't make him feel any better. The prince wasted little time in directing them forwards with haste. Since marowak was still lighting their way, Andy drew another pokeball and called out a cubone. The little lizard seemed confused for a moment at the darkened environment, especially at the sight of the marowak.

Skyler leaves him at the back of the pack with hushed words on a devilish smirk. Angelo momentarily stalls, his expression pinched into a frown with his lips curled into a grin of his own, looking like a million calculations and considerations were flying through his head all at once. She’d gotten him there… Angelo wasn’t sure if he was annoyed that she had or the complete opposite. It’s a breath later when he moves to catch up with the team.

It’s when Angelo joins them that the world around them begins to tremor. Blue gaze quickly flickers towards Skyler, then Andy before a stalactite falls with an explosion of rock between them. He dives for cover with Remy, bumping into him in his haste to get under the safety of the ridge.

“What? You mean you didn't invite me under here for a private break?!” his voice bubbles out in response to Remy’s instructions, sarcastic but not at all meanspirited in their shared chaos, scrambling out from behind the rock they had used for cover after the Galarian.

Purposefully, Angelo throws his pokeball far ahead, a Poliwhirl released at the very front of the group so that when it released the Earth Power, it wouldn’t sweep anyone up – ground splintering with glowing energy that pushes larger pieces of fallen debris out of their path.

Angelo, meanwhile, runs at the rear of their squad. His eyes purposefully sharpened as he watches their backs, fingers poised to reach out and pull anyone should they trip or stumble. Heart pounding in his chest, he fights against the instinct to pick up his pace and start running at his proper speed; instead purposefully keeping rank and encouraging the others to move ahead with a shout. “Keep going, we’re almost there! Move!” Blue eyes dared not look over his shoulder as he feels a vibration shoot through the earth just behind him.

Skyler didn't have to hold onto the Lanturn for long, the path ahead being naturally lit by some sort of natural bioluminescence. She'd seen something like it in her underwater expeditions, though she doubted the source was the same.

She'd taken no more than a couple of steps when the ground under her feet started shuddering violently, followed by an ominous groan that rose up from the depths of the earth.

'Shit, we gotta go!' Remiel was the first to react, clearly having experience with this kind of situation. Skyler grit her teeth and jumped to the side, dodging a falling stalagtite that shattered onto the ground right where she'd been not a second before. The curse that followed was lost in the chaos.

Rising up from her crouched position, Skyler briefly glanced at her companions - lingering on Angelo for a bit longer - just to make sure everyone was alright. With a flick of her wrist, she released an Alolan Marowak further ahead, its flames burning eerily in the relative penumbra. "Clear the path!"

Skyler joined the others as they made their way through the rubble and the falling debris, her Marowak quickly moving ahead of her and eagerly striking anything in its path with a STOMPING TANTRUM. "If you get hit by a falling rock, Angelo, I'm killing you!"

Motivational speeches clearly weren't Skyler's thing.

The stomping from Skyler's Alolan Marowak resulted in a small landslide barring their way ahead. On the plus side, the Marowak's flaming bone staff provided them with additional illumination. They were, however, now stuck between two impressive mounds of rock and rubble.[break][break]

Taking a moment to turn over his shoulder and account for all his crewmates, Remiel's nonchalant blue-grey eyes spotted something in the cave wall off to their side. Their ruckus had unearthed an old bone and a gem. "Angelo, care to extract those for us? I'll inspect the wall." The prince suggested, pointing to the items in question before regarding Andy and Skyler with a glance. "Take a breather. We're proceeding carefully from now on."[break][break]

The wall ahead of them was little more than a loose collection of rocks. Ultimately, the former archaeologist decided anything other than Water-type moves would be overkill— and likely result in another cave-in. So he returned Astrid to her luxury ball, then pulled out another before summoning his Galarian Slowbro. "We strike with water next. It'll help loosen up the soil around the rocks."[break][break]

Taking a few steps back, the ambassador pointed ahead. "Eglon, Water Pulse." And the creature mewled before blasting away.[break][break]

The boy huffed from all the excitement and exercise, leaning over to brace himself on his knees at Remi's suggestion to take a breather. The marowak stared harshly out from under her bone mask, whereas the little cubone seemed much more concerned about their predicament. In the back of his mind, he was happy Epitaph was in his ball.

He couldn't imagine all the teasing the gengar would inflict him with. An eyebrow raised as the prince brought forth a slowbro, of course it was the Galarian variant as well. Why wouldn't it be? At the announcement of his plan, the boy had one last huff before standing to his full meager height. Pulling out the cubone's ball, he assuaged their worried by resummoning him within.

''Don't act too stupid,'' he mumbled to himself as he drew another, giving it a hard look before beaming out his own slowbro. Like the cubone, it too glanced around dopily. ''Broo...?'' Andy wasted little time. ''Derp.'' A boney finger was pointed towards Remi's chosen target. ''Water pulse.'' But the lizard just kept starring into the darkness.

''Come on then. Get to it.'' Trudging over, he looped his arm around the creatures shoulders, leaning his head against the pokemon's. His alolan marowak already looked annoyed with their comrade. ''Slow... bro?'' Once again, the boy pointed. ''That one. See? Your bloody Galarian cousin could get it done. I know you can.''

“Can’t you even let me rest in peace?” He shouts towards Skyler’s retreating back, grinning from the burst of adrenaline and amusement as her voice reaches him through all the chaos. Thankfully, his friend doesn’t need to kill him twice, all of them managing to burst into the clearing of a cavern without rocks raining on their heads. Sure, they were trapped but it was better than being skewered by a falling stalactite, right?

“You guys all good?”

Everyone all accounted for and safe, Angelo took a brief moment to catch his breath as Remiel jumped back into work, encouraging the others to rest and giving him the responsibility to pack up the goodies that had been deposited in the carnage. “Sure thing,” he responds before turning, giving Skyler a brief pat (although it may have been more of a subtle squeeze) upon her shoulder as he walked past. “Don’t overexert yourself.” There’s a playful grin there as Angelo goes to his task, just the slightest bit teasing.

When Angelo returns to the group, treasures packed away in the slowly filling pack, Remiel has already decided on their next course of action. Providing a water pokemon to the cause is of little concern and he digs around in his pockets, pulling forward a capsule to release Cygnus into the cavern, the Golduck’s eyes sharp and none too impressed to be summoned between four cramped walls. “Third time’s the charm, Cygnus. Water Pulse.” He doesn’t look too keen to be just following the pack either but does so anyway – albeit with a sneer.

It appeared that her Alolan Marowak might've been a bit too enthusiastic in his efforts to plough ahead, the Stomping Tantrum causing loose rocks to break from the ceiling and the sides, effectively trapping them. Her natural cheer drained away at the impressive mounds of rock that blocked their path, yet there was an eager light in her eyes, made all the more visible when Bonehead returned to her, cyan flames flickering. "Try not to bring this whole thing down on us, yeah?" The serious pokémon nodded, casting a look of curiosity at the other Marowak present.

When Angelo passed her by, she gave him a slight curl of the lips, hand briefly squeezing his own before he went to help Remiel pack the objects which had freed themselves from the wall. "Takes more than this, Angel," she breezily replied, a playful gleam in her eyes. "But if I feel faint I'll let you know." Her attention quickly moved away at Remiel's next instructions.

"You good, pipsqueak?"

She gave the Andy a brief once-over, searching for any bruises or injuries. Finding nothing, she simply grinned at him and dug into her backpack, fingers lingering over two pokéballs. With a faint hum, Skyler finally grabbed one of them and released a Mantine into the darkened cave.

Following her other companions, Skyler motioned to the now-cracked area of loose rock, tapping the Mantine's fins gently as she talked. "See that area over there, Alata? I need you to Water Pulse it - gently." She didn't want to dodge anymore falling rocks if she could help it.

Crooning softly, the Mantine did as she was told, releasing a jet of water at the debris.
