Despite the damage it had sustained during The Ultra Beast war, reconstruction efforts have allowed the mountainous region to reclaim its original look. Still, the cave system runs deep. As your party traverses deeper with their EXPLORER KITS, they reach a dead-end. The company has encouraged the most intrepid and capable of trainers to dig deeper with their Pokemon.[break][break][break]

Should you break down the walls, perhaps, you'll find treasures to take home for yourselves. In order to receive a treasure, you must fully reveal it by breaking all the tiles they are contained in; however, you can only break down 3 tiles per floor. So, choose which tiles to break wisely![break][break][break]

If a tile says requests for a type, all moves used must be of that type unless otherwise specified. If a tile asks for a particular power value, you must hit that value exactly (e.g. total 260 - all of your moves added together, must total 260 power).[break][break][break]

As a former archaeologist, it behooved the team to have him at the helm of deciding where to strike. Chipping away carefully at rock and stone had been his profession and passion for some time. Having stepped away from it to fulfill his politic duties as Galar's ambassador, Remiel was now thrilled to be out in the field again. Even if only temporarily.[break][break]

Having been given some reprieve from those aforementioned duties to assist the League in its excavation duties, he had come early from his home in Rustboro with plenty of supplies and gear in tow. Meteor Falls was a place he had come to know very well over the past year. Aside from the fascinating dragons that inhabited it, he was very interested to explore its depths further and discover what secrets it hid.[break][break]

The light attached to his mining helmet illuminates the gloved finger he taps against the rock wall. "We excavate here," He says, backing away and pulling out a luxury ball from his pack. "It'll be tough, but it's the shortest path forward. So strike it with all you got." Then, once he's at a good distance, the prince summons a shrieking Aerodactyl that lands on the ground before him with folded wings. "Hyper Beam."[break][break]

If you had been a fortune teller a year ago and told Andy that he'd be spelunking with a Galarian prince in caves discovered after an alien invasion, he would have asked for his money back. Alas, here he was. It was odd he hadn't recognized him at Mauville, but things were fairly intense, especially when dog fighting too megalopolan commanders.

Pity we didn't kill both of them. Admittedly, he was in a strange place. On one hand, he had little love for authority. On the other, it wasn't every day you got to meet a member of the Galrian royal house, much less go do things with them, important tasks or no. He had been remarkably awkward thus far. Perhaps the wiles of these excavations would ware down such hesitation.

Andy's own headlamp followed the light beam of Calcifet's to the earthen wall before them. While the man was already launching an attack, the boy dug through his knapsack to find the right ball. Once in hand, he released his axew. It was odd that technically one of his newest and weakest pokemon held the potential for such great power.

''Alright boy,'' he kept his light trained on the mar left by Remi's assault. ''Giga Impact.'' It was hilarious to watch the little dragon charge and hit the wall with such magnificent power. He made a mental note to dump more time and resources into seeing an increase in the little guy's potential. The axew looked so proud of the damage dealt after the dust settled as well.

Angelo takes up the rear of the group as the four adventurers carefully pick themselves down the Meteor Falls trails, blue eyes curiously absorbing his surroundings and skin prickling with electricity in the musty air. He didn’t think he’d ever ventured quite so deep into the caverns before and with all of the lore surrounding the mountain – all of the factual links to meteorites – he can’t help but want to take in as much as possible. It makes it easy to forget about all the carnage that had happened above the surface as he occasionally gets distracted by interesting formations and shiny glints; his long legs having to jog a couple of times to keep up with the others.

He approaches the group as they gather around a blockade, slyly tapping the back rim of Skyler’s helmet to try and knock it over her eyes as he moves to stand amongst them all, flashing her a mischievous smirk and a side glance in a silent display of flirtatious affection.

Remiel apparently had experience with digs and so had been quick to scratch around in the dirt, tapping at the rocks that blocked their way and announcing that there was a way to get through, if they smashed through it hard enough. Angelo wasn’t the best when it came to being told what to do but this was a different kind of situation; it wasn’t one where he felt like he was being restrained or guided unwillingly into a place he didn’t want to be. So the decision to blast through only served to light a little fire within him. “Think we can manage that,” he mused as he picks a capsule from his pocket and releases a small green lizard, his Larvitar blinking with bright eyes up at Angelo before turning to look at the much larger Aerodactyl.

“Hyper beam, aim at the same spot.” Puffing up his chest, purposefully standing near the bigger grey rock lizard as if not wanting to be outdone, the little Larvitar opened its maw and with a roar, released a blinding beam of white from deep within.

The interior of this particular cave system is maze-like, paths weaving like tree branches into the depths. The familiar rush of waterfalls fades behind them as the group advances further into the tunnels, weaving around fallen blocks of rock and uneven terrain. It's strange not to be the one helming this small expedition, but the reason is clear enough: Skyler might be an expert when it comes to underwater exploration (and a little bit of treasure hunting on the side), but she is no archaeologist. The woman is more than glad to let Remiel take that position, especially as he proves himself more than capable.

They gather around a blockage and Skyler waits as Remiel inspects the wall. Then, as she's waiting, her helmet is abruptly shoved over her eyes. She quickly scrambles to straighten it, silver eyes narrowing dangerously at the mischievous smirk sent her way. The smile she sends back is full of sharp edges and spells out trouble for the young man, yet her eyes glint playfully.

The cracks in the wall widen with each consecutive attack, first by an impressive Aerodactyl and then by the cutest duo of Axew and Larvitar. Spiderweb-like patterns form on the rock's surface -- it shouldn't take much more for the wall to crumble. Skyler's hand hovers over her belt, and then she releases a familiar Stoutland, its large shape making the space feel even more cramped than it already is. "Woofer!" Before the dog can start his usual greeting of drooling all over her face, Skyler commands his attention. "Giga Impact, right over there."

Directed by his trainer, the canine takes a few steps back before going into a full sprint, ramming into the wall like a furry bulldozer.

Having excavated a few treasures from their recent efforts, Remiel was sure to help the team properly handle and package them before they set upon the next layer of wall ahead. He took note of the faint, echoed cries of pokémon deep within. Such a sound in a deep cave system like this wasn't exactly a surprise. The underground was a world of its own, after all.[break][break]

Regardless of that, the black-haired royal took note of a portion of the next wall that seemed deceivably brittle. After touching it with his fingers, he mused in thought for a moment before standing back.[break][break]

It was time to continue.

Pulling out a luxury ball from his pack, he summoned his Crabominable, Deonysia. "Strike there," He pointed, standing clear of her path as she scuttled forward. "Ice-type attacks should do well to weaken it. Deonysia, Ice Punch." He ordered. Prompting the scruffy crab to charge a fist with elemental energy before pummeling it forward.[break][break]

The boy wasn't one would consider an expert when it came to handling artifacts. So he would let the Galarian prince deal with them since it was his forte, as he understood. Also a natural leader, it seemed, he directed the group to their next future passage. The noises coming from further in creeped Andy out, but he supposed they would deal with it when they got there.

When Remiel called for an ice type, the youth pulled out his phone to scan what his all of his pokeballs contained. He didn't think he had an ice type, and after a brief glance, his screen-illuminated face frowned. The last thing he wanted was to hold up the expedition because he had been lazy about expanding his little army of pokemon.

''Shit. I don't think I got an ice type at all...'' he groaned. But a solution was offered when another member of the team, skyler dross, pitched one at the boy. After it ricocheted off his temple, he staggered back. ''DAH! What the fuck!?'' Perhaps it was a fluke because of the low light environment, but she could have warned him. Although he had never been exactly sporty.

''Bloody hell, lady.'' Rubbing his face, he shined the light from his helmet on the ground to locate the pokeball. Picking it up, he beamed out a sealeo. ''Pffht! Guph! Fraaah!'' It wailed retardedly. The boy stared at it for a moment. It looked like an ice pokemon alright, but was it supposed to sound like that?

''Is this thing alright in the head?'' He arched an achy eyebrow surveying the thing. ''PPPHHHUFRAAAAAPH!'' The youth stood there blinking for a moment before giving an exasperated shrug. ''Whatever. Use... fucking aurora beam or something.'' The pokemon clapped his flippers.

Crouching down, Angelo assists with sorting through the rocks and treasures that are released from their stone prison, surveying them with interest and handling them with care. “Pass them over and I’ll look after it. Keeping parcels safe is kind of a special talent of mine,” he says with a twang of humour to his voice as he shrugs his backpack off his shoulders, mindfully arranging their findings and knowing just how to wrap them to keep them from breaking from months of practice. If any of them was going to be the pack mule, he supposed he might as well, all things considering.

After all, he knew better than to pass off a collection of potential valuables to a teenager. Speaking of, Angelo glances over at Andy as they walk, noting the similarity in age to Lucia. His sister, however, would have had a bar of soap shoved into her mouth by their mother if she had dared speak or had that kind of attitude in their house. Angelo has to press his lips together tightly to keep himself from reverting into an older brother figure. Even if Andy’s attitude is kind of hilarious.

What’s even more hilarious is the teenager getting smacked in the face with a pokeball. Angelo’s lip quivers as his attempts to compose falter. “Watch out.” He calls in warning, purposefully too late, just as Andy lets out a cry in the dim light. Blue eyes roll playfully as the teen begins to huff and puff like the world was ending. Sometimes he’s unsure whether to be thankful he’s missing Lucia’s first year as a teenager or disappointed he doesn’t get in on the hilarity.

As Remy explains their next obstacle, Angelo rummages through his pockets, recalling his team and their skills in his mind. The only pokemon he had with an ice type move was… “Mind clearing a path? Especially you, with your track record, Andy. I don't want to take any chances with anyone getting hit.” There's a glint in his eyes and a pull on his lips, teasing harmless and unable to resist. He turns, surveying the height of the tunnel and when he feels satisfied, releases his Gyarados towards where they had come from, Volans lurched over and casting a dark shadow over the group.

“You heard ‘em, Ice Fang.” Slivering forward, his fangs glistening with cold frost as he clamps a massive jaw over a large boulder, Volans sinks the ice fang in deep until he’s pulverising it under his impressive jaw strength.

It seems her rotten luck when it comes to throwing projectiles isn't limited to ren-faires. She's been kicked out of a few due to nearly hitting people, pokémon, trees and carts with a range of projectiles, from crossbow bolts to javelins. Things just never seem to go the way she throws them, no matter how many times she practises. Still, she doesn't expect the measly pokéball to hit the boy's temple when she casually tosses it his way, the resulting fit of temper from the teenager at first making her blink in surprise, then morphing into an amused curl of her lips.

"Maybe the Pokéball hit your head too hard," she deadpans as a response to Andy's question about the Sealeo, the grin on her face widening slightly, mischief sparkling in her eyes.

Her gaze moves to Angelo when he calls out a warning, albeit a few long seconds too late. The amusement still lingers on her face and she gives him a small wink before turning her attention to the royal ahead of her, catching the last of his words and nodding.

"Do you think we'll find many wild pokémon down there, Remiel?" She asks dark-haired young man, wondering if she should keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. Unfortunately, space here is kind of a commodity, so keeping pokémon solely for the purpose of self-defense might not be the smartest solution.

Volans is a familiar sight, although the sudden lack of space makes Skyler take a few steps back, making her bump into Angelo. "Try to bring a Wailord next time." She calls back at him, smirking over her shoulder before releasing a Pokémon of her own.

The Golduck looks around, intelligent crimson eyes quickly assessing the situation before falling on her trainer. "Sapphire, I need you to use Ice Beam." The next bit of wall looks about ready to crumble, and Skyler points to the specific portion that looks the weakest. "Right there."

A beam of ice shoots toward the (now) fragile wall.

The second layer of wall crumbled into a pile of icy rock. The cold frost filled the cavern as a low-hanging mist, but it slowly dissipated as the crew slowly dug through the rubble. Before long, they would come across a small gathering of helix fossils. Rather conveniently, there was one for each of them. "Omanyte," Remiel spoke after identifying them, opening his pack to pull out his gear. "I'll package them for you."[break][break]

After the helix fossils were safely extracted and packaged, and the icy rubble cleared from their path, the crew would face the final layer of rock separating them from the cave ahead. Regarding Skyler's question, Remiel nodded. "We'll more than likely encounter a few pokémon ahead. Whether they'll steer clear, or engage with us, remains to be seen. I doubt they've ever seen a human being before."[break][break]

Regarding the wall ahead, the ex-archaeologist examined it for a moment before pointing at a small crack near its center. "Our approach will be straightforward from here," He spoke, dropping his hand in favor of retrieving a luxury ball from his belt. "No gimmicks. No specific types. Simply strike it with something hard and do make sure you don't drop the ceiling upon us." He warns, tossing his luxury ball ahead to summon his bipedal bunny.[break][break]

''And whose fault is that, slugger?'' He jibbed at Skyler's answer about her seemingly dim pokemon. The other man could barely contain his laughter. It wasn't supposed to be him serving as the butt of all the jokes! ''Yeah, yeah, very funny dick breath,'' he mumbled at Angelo's quip about clearing a path. None the less, the deed was done and the group carried on to the next obstacle.

The rubble revealed even more 'treasures.' The boy obviously wasn't sure how much they were worth, but he hoped it was a pretty penny. Nothing felt more satisfyingly independent than making his own money, especially with such ease. Remiel identified them with what looked like only a glance to Andy. He had no clue what an omanyte was.

As another wall loomed out of the darkness, the prince led the way by example again, having his pokemon launch an attack on the earthen barrier. Andy considered what to use here. He wasn't entirely sure of the sealeo's arsenal, since it wasn't his. However his little axew he was fairly familiar with. Still amazed him how such an adorable creature packed such a punch.

''Alright boy,'' he called the little dragon's attention. ''Hit it with a duel chop.'' The axew's eyes glimmered at being called upon to help once again.

“I would but I don’t think the cavern is big enough to fit a Wailord and your massive head,” he returns fire at Skyler after she bumps into him, his smirk following her as she goes about doing her part in destroying the blockade.

As was now routine, they pick through the rubble for treasures, wherein Angelo can’t resist but lean close to Andy and breathe on him at least once, just so he could really smell his apparent ‘dick breath’ and hopefully rile the teenager up. After that he took the fossils that Remiel had carefully packaged and put them in his backpack, taking a pause to admire the shape of the Omanyte, slipping momentarily into a memory of the Alto Mare museum and the pokemon fossils that had been on display behind their crystal cages. He’d seen them quite a lot back in the day, even if it was mostly just because kids got in for free on Sundays and it made for a place to keep entertained…

Once they had cleaned through the icy rubble, his skin prickling from the chill that lingered in the air, Angelo mingled along with the group as they plunged deeper into the caverns; echoes of the wild pokemon bouncing off the rock formations. When they get to the next wall Angelo, albeit a little hesitantly, reaches for a familiar pokeball.

“Dorado, metal claw.” In a flurry of fur and wild eyes, the Meowth lunges towards the rocks with his claws glinting silver to mercilessly stab into the rock like he was attempting to fight a paper bag. He had no fear, Angelo thought, as Dorado let out a battle cry. “Good job, buddy.” He tells the cat as he finishes off his part in destroying the wall, the cat seemingly striding towards him with his chest puffed up, grin wide like he had just got the cream. Only for the Meowth to completely bypass Angelo altogether, strolling right up to Skyler’s feet and letting out a traitorously loud purr, paws in the air as if to say ‘did you see what I did?’

Little fucker.

She nearly laughed at Angelo's comeback, eyes brightening with amusement as she poked at his ribs. Vigorously. "You love my massive head. Matches yours."

The uncovered helix fossils were familiar to Skyler, having found her fair share of them during her underwater explorations. They were packaged neatly and put into safe containers for the time being. The sailor left that particular task to Remiel and Angelo while a burning curiosity led her to study the broken bits of wall. There were, she could see, other bits and bobs stuck to the rock, but they would probably be buried once they cleared a passage.

Hmmm. Maybe she would be able to come back here to scavenge those.

She barely heard Andy's answer over the sudden appearance of a Lopunny into their midst, but she caught enough have her lips curl into a lopsided smile. Slugger actually did fit her perfectly. "Slugger? How did you guess, pipsqueak?" She was actually feeling a bit bad about the whole thing. "Sorry 'bout that by the way."

Skyler was about to release her own pokémon when she noticed a familiar shape unleash hell on the damaged wall. The Meowth strutted up to her, his mischievous grin sparking her own as he approached. "Dorado, honey, that was amazing!" Her hand went to pet the Meowth, the loud purr inwardly making her melt. "You're going to become the most vicious Meowth in all of Hoenn."

Too distracted by the feline, she almost forgot that she was supposed to help with her own Pokémon. "Oh, right." She held out a hand to Dorado in case he wanted to perch on her shoulders in the meanwhile, and grabbed a pokéball from her belt, releasing, ironically, an Omastar.

"Aquarius, Mud Shot."

The fossil pokémon silently spewed out some water, using its tentacles to fling mud at the fragile wall.
