SOMETHING PINGED IN THE WALL! As your attacks break apart the tile of stone, several treasures are exposed for everyone to take. Beyond the wall, you can hear the cries of cave-dwelling Pokemon... at least, you believe them to be so.[break][break][break]

Excavated treasures will be redeemable at the end of the event!

AN ODD, INTACT ARTIFACT reveals itself. Upon further inspection, it seems as if the shards you have excavated are of the same material. This rectangular slab is pulled from the rubble of the cave-in. After being dusted off, one can feel engravings on its back. It reads:[break][break][break]

"The Original One breathed..."

Furthermore, as the party attempts to clear the cave-in, they discover a large tunnel. It's narrow and gazing down its pitch black corridor is almost nauseating, for vertigo seems to strike even when everything is dark. An odd howling of sound can be heard deep within. Perhaps, this will be another route for you to take once you've cleared the cave-in enough to move.[break][break][break]

After returning his Slowbro, Remiel carefully picks up and dusts off the rectangular slab they've just unearthed from the rubble. The sound of dripping water surrounds him as he quietly begins to decipher the text. When he's figured it out, he reads it aloud for his companions to hear. "'The Original One breathed'..."[break][break]

He muses for a moment before an eerie feeling reaches out to them from the large tunnel ahead. Beginning to feel slightly nauseous as he gazes into the dark, Remiel turns away from it and safely packages the ancient slab before rubbing at his head. There was another layer of rock in their way. He cared to make haste past it. "Let's move on. Just... strike the wall with what you have. Mind the integrity of our ceiling." He adds.[break][break]

Summoning his Aerodactyl once more, the monster takes a moment to acknowledge the weird feeling in the air before charging a HYPER BEAM and absolutely decimating the first layer of rock.[break][break]

Pokemon returned, Angelo joins the rest in checking out the blue slab, watching as Remiel picks it up and begins to carefully investigate. He quirks a brow, arms loosely folded over his chest, as he scans over the artefact and the carved scripture as the expert translates. At least they had one person in the group who knew about this kind of thing, even if the text was unhelpfully vague. “Sounds cryptic... Why are these things never straight-forward, Rem?” Angelo muses with a lazy smile, not really minding all the poetic inscriptions if it led them to something interesting or a mystery to venture through.

Offhandedly, he wonders how much the thing might be worth…

Turning his attention away as Remiel packs the artefact away in his own pack, Angelo gazes towards the tunnel that they had started to uncover through the layers of rock, a palpable unease carried from the darkness on a mournfully faint howl. Something within him, curious and hungry, urges him to take a step forward to maybe take a peek. Only for the strange sensation that rolled out from the inky depths to end up stopping him, a nauseating twist drifting over Angelo like a sudden breeze – Remiel’s instructions pulling him away from the spiralling gloom. Weird...

“Okay Herc, one more time,” he summons his Larvitar again and the little green creature releases another Hyper Beam, energy intermingling beside the Aerodactyl’s own to punch through the layers of rock simultaneously.

Like her adventour companions, Skyler returns her own pokémon to their respective pokéballs. The space darkens slightly when her Alolan Marowak disappears in a brief flash of light, yet Andy's own Alolan Marowak does a good job by itself, enough that when Skyler approaches the others to check out the blue slab, flickers of cyan light play out in their features.

"'The Original One breathed'..."

Her expression twists into something like displeasure when Remiel mutters the words on the slab, teeth gritting ever so slightly. Skyler is superstitious by nature and has always maintained a respectful distance from anything that might hint at legendaries - and due to recent happenings, that respectful distance has soured into contempt.

So she keeps silent as several comments are passed back and forth, her attention drifting to the darkened tunnel beyond the rubble. There is something strangely alluring, she thinks, about the looming darkness ahead. The feeling is familiar to the sailor, although this time she doesn't think it is the thirst for adventure that compels her to take several steps in its direction - before the vertigo takes hold of her and she has to stop.

There is something howling on the other side.

The Hyper Beam that strikes the wall shakes her out of her musings, and Skyler's head snaps to Angelo and his Larvitar, eyebrows raising in a silent tease, remembering a certain keychain.

The next moment, however, she's releasing a Toxtricity, the crackle of electricity fizzling over the earthen ground as the pokémon looks around.

"You should cover your ears, guys!" The warning is given scant seconds before Skyler turns to the electric-type. "Solar, Boomburst on the rubble - right there."

Fortunately, she remembers to heed her own warning.

After gathering their newfound treasure, and having some brief deliberation, the group decided to take the route leading downward rather than the one straightforward. Remiel was inclined to agree himself. The feeling that emanated from the hole was unusual, and certainly not pleasant. But it was a degree more interesting than that cavern hellscape that surely awaited them ahead, he thought.[break][break]

Hearing the sound of rushing water below, however, the ambassador made sure to take some precautions. He returned his Aerodactyl to its ball, then produced another two before summoning a pair of Frillish: one male and one female. The Ghost-types happily danced in the air together as Remiel introduced them. "Ser Robin and Lady Marian can act as floatation devices should we need them below. I'll go first."[break][break]

Pulling both his cubone and marowak back into their respective pokeballs, Andy steeled himself for their chosen course. The options were fairly mundane. Now it just seemed to be a series of caves. Following the prince until they came before another impenetrable edifice, the boy had just the thing, or so he thought.

It felt weird to have to summon Epitaph. Normally, he was always around. Still the glistening pale gengar appeared, and Andy touches his hand to the gengarite broach in his pocket. Slightly enlarged, the gengar sank into the ground halfway his shininess becoming even more dazzling. His tongue splayed across the cave floor before lashing out to open their path.

Thankfully they all covered their ears quickly enough not to have ruptured eardrums, otherwise discussing their next course of action might have been a little bit more strenuous. With all the rubble cleared, they were now left with a dark passageway, that nauseating sensation that had leaked into their previous chamber increasingly distorting the air around them – heat rising out of a hole in the ground that made the world shiver like a mirage coating.

Angelo rolls up the sleeves of his jacket up his forearms, this type of temperature not quite the norm for a comfortable Hoenn day… Nor Alto Mare, actually. “Okay, so looks like we’re jumping into the depths of hell next, then? No big deal.” He mumbled, raising a brow at their resident expert. It wasn’t like there was anywhere else to go, though. If they wanted to go any further then they’d have to descend down into the hole, even if the edges of the pit glowed with a red, magma sheen… And Angelo did want to keep going. So hell it was!

In a beam of light he releases Eltanin, his Salamence looking unperturbed by the muggy heat as he turned with sharp eyes to regard the rest. “El will carry you down. Just in case.” He tells Remiel, who had already offered to go first. “We'd be kind of screwed if the team expert throws himself into the lava pit and comes back deep-fried.”

The way is cleared and the path ahead looms before them like the hungry jaws of some hellish landscape. Skyler almost expected a plaque of sorts with the words 'abandon all hope ye who enter here' to greet them as Angelo's Salamence - when had he gotten one? it was a beautiful dragon - ferried them down to the next part of the tunnel.

She tried not to think of all the ghosts around her.

Skyler stays behind with Angelo as the other two go ahead, waiting until their forms are lost in the dark before approaching her adventuring buddy and throwing an arm around his shoulder. "To hell and back, eh, Angel?" The sailor doesn't seem too bothered about the notion, the eager light in her eyes betraying the excitement at this new development. "Makes a little bite sound even better."

The Salamence returns at that moment, climbing up through the rubble and Skyler doesn't hesitate before she swings herself into its back. Her hand pats the dragon, familiar with the species - her own was having a well-deserved rest after the whole war business.

The heat in the next chamber is immense, so when they land Skyler brings out her Milotic, the sea serpent looking weirdly out of place in this scenery. "Gather around, guys."

The sailor pats the Milotic briefly before issuing a command. "Antares, Life Dew." Droplets of water emerge from the air, covering the team, human and pokémon alike, hopefully so that burns do not become an issue.

EVERYONE LANDS SAFELY. The dramatic sweeping of stone, wind, and water are accompanied by the mighty presence of a Groudon. Magma bubbles all around them, churning hellishly like a crimson ichor. Occasionally, the party would be able to see a Slugma or Magcargo leisurely crawling across the walls.[break][break][break]

Something or several things roar deeper in the cave. Ancient footprints can be seen carved into the walls should you examine carefully; however, the party quickly finds out that they must be careful, for any misplaced zagreus-step could result in an impromptu trip through Styx.[break][break][break]

For each "floor", you can only break three tiles before advancing to the next floor.

You have access to all pokemon in your pc; however, you can not use Ditto.
There is no locking in of pokemon; you can catch pokemon to help you complete the challenge even after the challenge has started!

"A Groudon in the depths of Meteor Falls..." Remiel muttered, quite frankly astonished at the sight. "I wonder if this is the same one I fought beside at Mauville with Zekrom." He spares a moment to assess the well-being of his team, certainly thankful for Skyler's previous Life Dew. It isn't long before his eyes are drawn to the strange footprints and markings on the walls, however.[break][break]

When a sudden roar of lava and flame interrupts his study and note taking, Remiel snaps his journal shuts and looks up to assess the situation. Stalactites on the ceiling above now tremble with instability, only seconds away from falling upon them all. With little time to spare, the black-haired royal summons a Passimian into the craggy clearing they stand upon. "Electro Web!"[break][break]

And, after briefly gathering a crackling energy in its cheek, the ape spits out an electrified web that clings to the ceiling above and keeps the stalactites from piercing their bodies. "We should get moving," Remiel addresses his squad. "Groudon's presence makes this terrain highly unpredictable and dangerous."[break][break]

“Whatever floats your boat, Sunshine.” An arm is thrown over his shoulder as he responds with a flirtatious edge to his words, their contact casual and familiar as they press against one another’s sides – Angelo reaches up to give the sailor’s wrist a brief squeeze. It’s not like he needs the comfort, he’s far from nervous about jumping into the lava catacombs. Instead it’s a silent message of excitement. Skyler’s presence at his side is like a kick of adrenaline on top of his already electric curiosity for the unknown, his thirst only amplified with her pushing him. Guess that was what made her a good adventure buddy…

Eltanin returns then, having successfully ferried the others down into the depths and Angelo climbs aboard last, giving a pat against the Salamence’s neck – lined with old, faded scars. At the cue, the dragon pushes off on ruby wings and flies them down into the blistering heat, leaving the cool stagnant air of the tunnels far behind.

They’re met with an infernal hellscape, blistering heat rising from the bubbling lava and the dark walls aglow with constant fire. Angelo returns Eltanin and although he’s grateful for the dousing from Skyler’s Milotic, its water soothing the scalding quality in the air, his eyes are drawn to the figure in the distance. It’s kind of hard to ignore a presence like Groudon. It's one big mother fuc...

“Yeah, Rem. Why not sit it down for a cup of tea? Catch up on old times, discuss the stock market. That’s what you do, right?” Angelo quips in after Andy suggests the ambassador convince the irritable legendary to calm down, mouth twisted into a small grin. It’s not a far misplaced image, really.

After a few falling rocks diverted from hitting them, they make their way further along the cavern until they reach a dead end, lava bubbling between two mounds of stubborn land. “Hey, think we can get across over here.”

In a burst of light, a tiny Emolga is released into the humid air but Lysithea seems unfazed, letting out a cry as she formed a glowing sphere and threw it at the unstable rock. It was enough to knock the boulder into the lava, being on the edge as it was and as soon as it splashed into the lava to create a bridge, she was drawn back into her pokeball.

There's a look of disbelief on Skyler's face as the head of the expedition whips out a notebook and starts taking notes. Silver eyes run along the cavernous chamber, pausing briefly on colossal stalagtites along the ceiling and the magma that bubbles up from scorching hot pools around them. One wrong step and -- well, no need to think of that. Still, despite the grandiose scale of the chamber, her attention is caught by the hulking shape that doesn't seem to have noticed them yet.

A curse escapes her mouth at the sight of Groundon, foul and heartfelt. The sailor frowns deeply, a frisson of annoyance coming to the surface. A darker emotion sits quietly in the depths of her psyche, but she isn't ready to deal with it. Not yet. Instead, she subtly gives Groundon the middle finger.

And who the frick was Zekrom?

The sharp edges of her growing temper are somewhat dulled by Andy's and Angelo's comments. Resolving to deal with the whole thing later, Skyler walks with the group as they advance through the chamber, overcoming several obstacles. She carefully makes her way over the makeshift bridge created by Angelo's Emolga.

Their presence seems almost invisible for all the attention they're getting from the legendary - thankfully. A few minutes later the group comes across unstable terrain, cracks in the earth shifting slightly under what appears to be molten magma. Skyler peers at the obstacle before releasing Solar again, the Toxtricity looking around in confusion. "Discharge, Solar, over that area."

She takes a few steps back and motions for her companions to do the same. With a crackle of electricity, Solar uses DISCHARGE in the terrain, the most unstable parts crumbling under the strength of the electricity. "Come on." When she steps over what's left, she ground doesn't shift - although the hot magma is dangerously close.

TOXTRICITY USES DISCHARGE - 80bp - AS SPECIAL ELECTRIC MOVE
