With his Pokemon injured and his bag almost full, Zac was eager to head back. "Like nothing happpened? I don't know about that..." Zac said, head dipped. "Maybe on the outside, but the people i've spoken too are still recovering."
As they headed back to the entrance, a hungry little Morpeko growled from a corner, watching them. Vibrava shot it with a DRAGON BREATH, stunning the creature before it could strike. he lined up for a quick catch and put the ball in his bag.
"I don't like it. Everything feels darker now. Hoenn used to be, well, not safe but," he paused, struggling to form the feeling of loss and confusion into words. "There weren't cities getting smashed and people dying defending their homes. There was adventure, sure, but not apocalypse."
He walked faster, suddenly eager to leave this place behind.

at this point, there is no more hiding about the fact that the war indeed changed a lot in hoenn. if not the places, then the people.[break][break]

selena follows zac's lead where she in turn faces a zebstrika looking for a fight. her claydols are very reliable in handling the situation though, spamming rock tombs until their pink-haired trainer is given a chance to capture it.[break][break]

"Romantic? That's really not the word i'd use," Zac said, his words backed by a rising anger. How could this girl think the destruction of a city she should be protecting was romantic?
"I've seen people absolutely distraught over their losses. Death. Death just everywhere," Zac said, his mind full of his experiences in Lilycove over the last few months. He had watched streams of people pray and cry at the memorial on the coast. A new memorial built to house the souls lost in the war. He had interviewed survivors only to find that the only thing keeping them going was their own mental distancing from reality. Even those that had survived were barely holding together, and this girl thought it was romantic?! Zac's calm, playful demeanor had turned sour, and he ground his teeth as he glared down at Selena. "I've talked to people who have lost limbs. Who have lost loved ones. Hell, I had friends in Lilycove who are still 'missing' after the war. If you think that seeing lives crushed is romantic then either you're seriously sick, or you've seen something seriously different than what I have," Zac spat.
He stormed away from the disturbing little creature. Zac didn't want to spend another second with her. Was she delusional? A monster? Zac liked to think that she was just seriously naive to the realities of the world. She certainly looked young.

Either way, she was not someone that Zac wanted to associate with anymore.

selena is taken aback but she is not totally surprised. everyone who wants to deal away with reality is bound to have a reality check every once in a while, but it doesn't mean what's real should be always grim and dark.[break][break]

“i agree my choice of words are very...questionable.” she stops walking and turns to face the man. “but riddle me this, mr. zac. how are you to change something that's already happened in the past? all the choices the people made is an informed decision that emphasizes how they see themselves and the things that are bigger.”[break][break]

she senses the presence of another creature attempting to disturb them in their scuffle, but selena continues with her musing.[break][break]

“people are stuck in the past with their traumas and that's fine. but it doesn't mean others should still live in the history when, as you said, hoenn feels darker now. at times like this, the people should brace their courage and go on with the present.”[break][break]

the pinkette watches the man walk away as the mawile strides closer to her, both seeing zac's silhouette be engulfed in the light outside the chamber.[break][break]
