THEME

Time was running out, and Zac needed to find a present.
He looked at the hints he had received from the Delibird and scratched his head. "Okay. Well, this oughta be the place then."

He looked up at the entrance to the abandoned city of New Mauville. Usually a pretty barren spot, but surprisingly busy this time of year. He had passed a few trainers on his surf over here, their bags full of festive catches.
"Must be a lot of popular pokemon in 'ere." Zac thought out loud.

With a fresh 6-pack of pokeballs and a few square metres of christmas paper, Zac was ready to catch the perfect gift.

other than the rest of the new mauville visitors, selena did not decide to visit the old powerplant to collect gives for the holidays. it is, however, her first time again to visit the place after the war much to her surprise the place has been well-preserved and redesigned for the martyrs of war.[break][break]

THEME

    "Sure am!" Zac says, looking down at the pink haired trainer who had appeared beside him. "I'm Zac!" He said, sticking out a massive hand by way of greeting. "I'd love some company, if you're feelin' like a bit of exploring."

A few minutes of excited wandering later they reached a 4-way intersection of passages. Zac looked around, and there was a sudden tearing sound, like the shriek of rending steel, and something neon green shot down the hallway and ran off in front of them. An Electrike! Zac thought, barely able to follow it with his eyes as the hound raced away from them. But then what made the sou- An Aggron smashed down the side passage, storming towards them.
    "VC!" Zac shouted, tossing a pokeball at the approaching monster. His Vibrava burst out in a flurry of diamond wings and fast, skittering legs.
    <BITE BITE>
    "That's right buddy, burrow down and stop that iron giant in his tracks!" Zac commanded, and VC burrowed down into the rotting floor, collapsing it into the underlying dirt mixing it all into a thick slurry.
    Aggron trampled forward, straight into the mixture. It tossed its three-horned head about, gouging great furrows in the passageway as it sunk deeper into the trap. Then it roared. A clangorous, metallic vibration that made Zac's fillings hurt.
    Zac hurled a pokeball at the Aggron and the orb collided with a click of ceramic on metal. The ball shook, sinking deep into the mixture. A few moments later VC returned, with the prize held in his mandibles.

when the man ignores the skittering electrike and follows the aggron, the pinkette takes it upon herself to deal with the hound. “get her, heqet!”[break][break]

the ivysaur lunges with his vines, whipping through the verdant body of the wild pokemon. weakened, selena reckons it is time to throw her spare capsule. afterwards, the ivysaur hurries back to her, its eyes glinting at the sight of, somehow, familiar pokemon on the other trainer's side.[break][break]

"Do you come here often or is it your first time?” asked the girl.
"I used to come here every so often, but it's been a while. Maybe three or four years." Zac admitted. Now that they had been walking through the damaged power plant for a while, Zac was starting to realise that it was more dilapidated than he remembered. "We used to come here to fish through the holes in the floors. But it looks a bit too run down for that now."
They walked on, and soon reached a collapsed section of flooring, a gaping hole in the floor showed a darkened section of the Route 110 watercourse.
"And is it just me or does this place stink now?" Zac asked, sniffing at the water. Stepping away from the hole, Zac heard a scared hiss from the shadows nearby, and a ball of electricity, fangs and fur hurled itself at Zac.
Vibrava interceded, catching the attacker in his mandibles and pinning the Shinx to the floor. "Whoa! I had a friend with a Luxray. Absolutely beautiful creature. You're a nice little ball of fuzz too though I bet," Zac said, reaching out. The Shinx snapped at his hand, sinking its fangs in deep before Zac could pull away. He frowned, nursing the bite as he reached into his bag for disinfectant and a pokeball . "After a bit of training I guess."
Zac turned to his companion. "You ever get bit while out adventuring?"

“i've heard the war destroyed this area so much. apparently there is something beneath this old powerplant that interests the megalopolans so much.”[break][break]

as she explains, her eyes trail towards the walls which keeps the rundown structure standing. she knows the league tries to renovate the place, even built a memorial for the fallen galarian soldiers who participated in the war. but deep inside the tunnels, the destruction is more appalling.[break][break]

selena tries to keep from laughing from the man's last question. “i try my best not to.”[break][break]

when she hears heqet growls, her attention is immediately brought towards the empoleon walking towards the pair.[break][break]

ivysaur summons his vine whip again to slash into the empoleon. after a few hurdles, selena is able to throw her pokeball.[break][break]

"Something underneath 'ay?" Zac asked, looking down at the decrepit flooring, as if he could see through it to the mysteries below. "...do you know what it is? Was? Were you here?"
Zac had been interviewing survivors of the fight with the Megalopolans, and was very excited to hear that his adventure partner might have some experience in that area.
As they walked through the facility, trending slowly downwards where possible, another Pokemon jumped out. "This place is full of little ambush predators." Zac said, bonking the Meowth with a pokeball and stuffing it in his bag. Despite its vigour, it hadn't put up a fight at all.
"I'm surprised they're all so confident. Or maybe it's the recent fighting that's made them aggressive. Or desperate."

selena can only agree with zac as a ferroseed leaps out from hiding in an attempt to slash through the pinkette. luckily for her, her two claydols immediately come to the rescue, getting out of their pokeballs with psychic and preventing the grass-type's attack with powerful psychic energy.[break][break]

“oh, you two. thanks.”[break][break]

fallen on the ground, selena picks up the ferroseed with her spare pokeball.[break][break]

THEME

"Yeah I wasn't in Lilycove for the fighting, but I've spent a lot of time there recently. Place is still pretty messed up. You from there?" Zac asked as they wandered further downward.
    They descended a staircase down into a basement section, and suddenly the light from the broken ceiling was gone. Zac sent out Zappa, and the lower floor was lit with yellow light.
    Something attacked out of the shadows, a creature of steel and darkness that struck Zappa with punches like hurled dumbbells. The lizard chirped in pain, and the light went out. "Zappa!" Zac called, as he heard the pokemon scuffling in the dark. Zappa's footsteps slapped up and along the walls and ceiling, followed by the hammering thuds of this dark predator closing in. Shit, need some light down here, Zac thought. "VC! Dragon Breath!"
Azure flames filled the hallway. The jet of roaring, hissing fire narrowly missed the fleeing Zappa, cutting off Scizor from its prey. VC kept up the blast, and the steel predator buzzed furiously, held at bay at least for now.
"Ready Zappa?" Zac called over the sound of the fire, and the lizard chirped roughly, ready for revenge. "3,2,1, NOW!" Zac ordered, and the Dragon Breath dissipated, VC retreated back behind Zac, and the Scizor caught sight of its target.
    It rushed forward, steely claws held up and ready, stepping lightly like a boxer. A boxer with a hook that could dent a truck.
But Zappa was ready too, and the lizard's frill flared as he let off a massive bolt of lightning. The crack of light lit the dark tunnel for a moment and Zac caught a single frame of the fight as the electricity speared forward, surging and twisting in the air as if perfectly targeted, drawn to the metallic form.
    The thunderclap shook the tunnel, and the sound of Scizor's steel carapace hitting the flooring was almost as loud.
"You alright Zappa?" asked Zac as he caught the smoking insect and tended to his friend. "You right to push on?" he asked, but the reptile was breathing hard, and deep black bruises were swelling underneath his skin. Fast growing spots that blotched his light. "Oh man. Okay. You take a rest. We'll head back soon."

the pinkette observes the man summon his heliptile to illuminate the area. while she pretends to get assistance from the pokemon's light, her golden mist begins to cover the area that only she can see. its power begins to fill the void like serpents slithering through the gaps, licking at every aspect that provides her full grasp of her sense of space.[break][break]

“i am.” she does not feel the need to elaborate further that she is the gym leader. after all, he doesn't recognize her. “i guess lilycove's pretty much recovered after the war like nothing happened, huh?”[break][break]

meanwhile, her two claydols summon rock tombs to trap what's actually slithering through the gaps—an eelektrik finding its way towards the trainers to attack.[break][break]

“good job, boys.”[break][break]

her words remind of encouragement as she approaches the giant leech with a nudge from her spare pokeball.[break][break]
