Nervous was an understatement for what Razz was doing right now. Ever since what has been dubbed the 'Blackout of Slateport' the young Ranger has been carrying a heavy amount of weight. He knows people want answers and he had some, but he didn't know anyone. Should he go to Slateport PD and give info? Should he go to his boss and inform the Head Ranger of what has happened? He had Counselman on his phone as a possible idea but every time he thought about any of these options he ended up backing out. Razz felt like he would just make things seem more confusing because he doesn't know what it was that attacked. But then there was also the beast in front of him that he's let out of their ball. [break][break]

A 'Buzzwole' scientist have dubbed it and for some reason or another choose to come to his aide that night. Since then the bug has been willingly following him for reasons Razz can't comprehend but if it was going to stay the Ranger needed to learn what they could do. It was why he came here to Shoal Cave at night when no ever came due to how cold it became. He's hoping it's here he could train in secret and learn what the Ultra Beast could do. As it was he was doing his best to keep them a secret for the past two months now, hopefully coming here would help him keep that secret. [break][break]

For now he watched as the Ultra Beast BULKED UP to show off itself to the Meowstic who was looking over the bug, as if judging them as well.

Where she steps, a path of ice melts away. She burns hotter, brighter, though no flames peel from her skin. Her wintery clothes are nearly suffocating, but she wears them in order to not stand out. Out here, however, in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the sheer cold, she is granted a semblance of freedom.[break][break]

And yet she doesn't feel the least bit free. Fear clutches at her chest and is only magnified by the dark shadows that loom in the cavern. She had come here to test her resilience, to prove to herself that she had not lost her way. That what had happened to her hadn't spelled the end.[break][break]

She still bore her fire, but it burned so hot she almost couldn't feel it. [break][break]

What she isn't expecting, however, is for her to not be alone in her adventures. Further inside, she can hear the murmuring of a man and his Pokemon. The floor falls away from her feet as she finds them. She reacts instinctively, reaching for a Pokeball as well as her own fighting spirit. Her muscles still ache and her heart pounds so heavily in her chest she fears it may burst.[break][break]

But her first instinct is to protect him from this monster.[break][break]

"Get out of the way, what are you doing?"[break][break]

Stormy latches onto the mans elbow, dragging him close to her as she pulls him out of harms way. Her Charizard bellows as she appears, standing between the Meowstic and the Buzzswole.[break][break]

Why did well plan things have to explode in his face. He worked so hard to make sure to go deep in the caves, come at a time when no one visited and yet here they were. A sudden tug at him pulling the ranger back because his attention was purply on the Ultra Beast. Said Ultra Beast doesn't seem to appreciate it as they took the grabbing of the one they've chosen as a threat. Electricity flowed through the Buzzwole's arms as it readies itself to attack before Razz was finally able to get to talking. "Hold on! Hold on! Stop, stop! STOP!" the young ranger yells as he removes himself from the woman's grip and puts himself between her and the Ultra Beast. Mean while Salem does the same as it uses PSYCHIC to put itself between the Chairzard and Buzzwole. [break][break]

Electricity is still flowing through the bugs arms as its more than ready to THUNDER PUNCH the wannabe dragon, "Stand down!" Razz orders once more making Buzzwole look at him as the arms discharge. Then gestures to themselves then the fire pokemon as it's wings start buzzing as if that's how it was speaking. The way it's body spoke with language as if going 'they started it' kind of way. Razz just turns to the stranger, his anxiety of the Ultra Beast being found out currently out weighing the fact that he was talking to a new person or dealing with a fire type here. [break][break]

"Look I can explain," he tells her but if he's being honest Razz is not sure he can, "But I need to you to call off your Charizard, you don't have to put it back in it's ball.... just call it off"

The man behind her elbow struggles, and Stormy has half a mind to use said elbow to drive it into his teeth, for fear if he didn't shut up, he might get them both killed. But he's yelling for her to stop, for the Ultra Beast to stop, and there's a note of urgency in his tone that suggests familiarity. She hesitates, glancing over her shoulder, watching in slack-jawed astonishment as he puts himself between her and the beast.[break][break]

"What the fuck are you doing?"[break][break]

She hisses, reaching for his elbow, but stopping just short as she watches the man's Pokemon step between her Charizard and the Buzzswole. [break][break]

Somehow, his command brings sense to the Ultra Beast, and it's charged up thunder punch stops just short of destroying her Pokemon. Wadjet is agitated, puffing smoke from her nostrils. But the lack of command from her trainer, and the fact that such a small Pokemon has put itself in harms way in front of her... she does not move.[break][break]

And Stormy is staring at this stranger with a look of anger, fear, confusion. [break][break]

"What is going on here? Is that thing yours?"[break][break]

"Its not as bad as it seems," he tries as the woman curses at him as she questions his actions. Which fair, honestly if situations were reversed he might be reacting in the same way. Though it does seem as he is taking in everything. With his trying to stop her, and Salem even getting in the way of the Buzzwole. Surely he had a good excuse right? No.... no he really, reaaaalllly didn't. [break][break]

At the very least she and her pokemon weren't trying to attack anymore which convinced the Buzzwole of listening to him about backing down. Hopefully it would continue to listen as this whole thing was also him testing just how well it would take orders. "Sort of....? Yes???" he answers quickly has he is putting his hand through his hair and slightly pulling at it. Part of him wishing this was some dream that someone has found them after trying to be so careful. [break][break]

His shoulders slump as he is in defeat of just dismissing this as some silly mistake. "Okay ummm...." why did words have to be so hard? "Before I can explain them, what do you know of the Blackout of Slateport?" Razz questions feeling if he knew what she knew of the event he could build off that.

Even still, Stormy lowers her arm to let them rest at her sides. Her eyebrows are still pinched together in concern, and there's a wild, flighty look in her eye that suggests one wrong move means her lack of self-restraint.[break][break]

But he's asking for a little bit of faith, and she's willing to give him just a little bit of wiggle room. [break][break]

However, the man's unconvincing response makes her blood turn to ice, and her expression turns panicked and annoyed.[break][break]

"What do you mean, 'sort of... yes?' It's either a yes or a no, a sort of falls under the 'no' category."[break][break]

He mentions the blackout of Slateport, however, and she blinks in surprise at the familiarity of it. [break][break]

Again Razz didn't blame her for her doubt, he'd be doubting too if it wasn't happening to him. He was grateful in her faith though, as he very much didn't deserve it. Though he very much knew he spoke wrong when he hesitated on his 'yes.' However he didn't know how to explain it, "Because I don't know how much it's willing to listen!" he counters back and again he knows he has set himself up for more distrust and he hates himself for it, though he could only guess that she hated him more for it. He really wasn't like this, but being under this kind of pressure wasn't something he had for awhile. [break][break]

His only saving grace seemed to be that she says she was there. He pauses and just blinks at her in surprise and almost disbelief for a moment because there were plenty of people there thus the witnesses in the HNN, but they weren't actually 'there.' "Then you saw it?" he questions softly as he is very much trying to loose the edge he was having. "Whatever that.... that thing was, and what it did?"

Stormy can't help but squint at the man's anxiety. [break][break]

"You don't know how much it's willing to listen? And yet you're all the way out here in the middle of nowhere? What, are you trying to get killed? Because that's how you get killed."[break][break]

Her eyebrows crease together and she stares at him, her head shaking in a gentle, disapproving gesture. He was making absolutely no sense, and yet she couldn't help but find herself wanting to hear him say more in the hopes he might defend himself.[break][break]

That, and he had mentioned the incident in Slateport, and her curiosity outweighs her need to throttle him for malpractice of Pokemon.[break][break]

"Saw it? It killed so many of my team, it changed Moltres-- it.."[break][break]

She feels a shudder pass down her spine at the mere memory, and the shadows in the cave seem to grow longer, more ominous, more terrifying. [break][break]

Why was it when he had ideas they seemed fine until someone just said them out loud to him. He does his best to take a deep breath and try to think more calmly about the whole thing. The panic was still there but he wasn't doing himself any favors being in a panic. "If it wanted to kill me I'd already be dead, and even if that were the case I came here where no one normally comes to avoid it hurting others as a just in case," he answers her hoping that she would understand that at least. Honestly if the Buzzwole wanted him dead they would have killed them back when it first showed itself to him. [break][break]

"Moltres?" he can't help but question, being from Kanto he was familiar with the legendary bird trio. It took a minute before it clicked and he could recall seeing a flaming bird there as it was the only real light there. She must have been one of those avatar people too. "Yeah... it did the same to many of my pokemon as well," he sympathizes knowing the pain she must have felt. [break][break]

"Though that's where this one came from, not with the others"

Stormy can see that there is a bubble of emotion bursting at the surface of his being, the nervousness behind his eyes, the way he struggles to take a deep breath. He's overthinking, panicking. She has half a mind to reach out and grab him by the shoulders, and before she can even stop herself she is holding him by the shoulders. Her fingertips dig into his shoulders, and her palms are warm and growing hotter in her own panic.[break][break]

"You should never be alone, don't you know that? Do you have a fucking death wish? Always bring a partner, someone that you trust, someone you can rely on to call for help if something goes terribly wrong."[break][break]

She shakes her head, eventually letting him go with a light shove.[break][break]

"What do you mean? This thing showed up to defend you? That doesn't sound possible. I fought these things, or ones similar, in Meteor Falls. They weren't friendly."[break][break]

The ranger tensed up as the woman grabbed his shoulders, he ponders a bit as to why she is so warm. Though as much as he hated this head on confrontation he allowed it for now as she seems to scold him about being alone of all things. Though was it wrong that part of him felt like answering ‘yes’ to the death wish. [break][break]

“Does the Meowstic count?” Razz questions as he’s pushed lightly, Salem has to interject with the Buzzwole as the bug seems to take it a bit of a threat. [break][break]

“That’s exactly what I’m saying,” he defends in a matter of fact tone, before countering “You say it’s not possible and yet you mention Moltres?” The ranger finding legendary pokemon attaching themselves to trainers just as ridiculous as this. “Look I know everything was just dark, but near the end of it, wormholes open up again with some other shining pokemon.” Razz had no clue what it was, “but they showed up then, and came to my side, helped me move out as I was too injured to do so myself and has been listening since.”

Stormy runs a hand through her hair as a way to steady herself. She is rattled, clearly, and still processing the information she's being given. A part of her feels bad for bombarding him like this and acting on the offensive-defensive, but she had felt it was appropriate at the time. [break][break]

"I don't see legendary Pokemon eating people, do you? Moltres is from earth, and we know at least a little bit about it. These things.. they aren't from here, and we can't trust them."[break][break]

He continues to explain himself and the situation, and she finds herself tearing her gaze away from him to stare at the Buzzswole. She still isn't really convinced, but considering the fact the boy seemed so convinced, and the Pokemon hadn't turned around to keep on swinging..[break][break]

Once again Salem has moved himself, this time to the Buzzwole's shoulder to ensure the two red brutes didn't try to fight each other again. He seems to call out in annoyance after being insulted by the long hair girl. In a 'i'm more than enough!' manner not that his words could be understood directly. [break][break]

Razz holds back the chuckle as while he doesn't know what his pokemon said he could hear the tone. "They may be of earth, but they're still things of legends we can't 100% understand," he counters, still trying to go with the reason that just because they didn't know the Ultra Beast completely that it meant they couldn't trust it. Not that he was too sure he did, he still needed to work with them more. [break][break]

There is still a nervousness to him that he can't shake. While the intensity wasn't as high as it was when they were originally found it, he was coming to realize a bit more and more that he was dealing with someone he's never met before, and there was a god damn charizard behind him.[break][break]

God he hated it here. [break][break]

At the question of trust he isn't sure what to say. "Yes," Razz says with conviction that he wasn't entirely sure he had in the Buzzwole. Though if he was going to convince this woman to have any type of trust in some nobody trainer having an Ultra Beast he felt it was needed.
