Ah yes, Vivienne was here. Despite the bugs, debris, and panic surrounding her--Vivi couldn't have been less engaged in the mission. She had actually pulled out a compact and started adjusting her makeup by the time the fire started, and when she noticed she was more irritated than scared. She slammed her compact closed with a huff, turning toward the hostages as it came time to move. 

"You heard the man, up and at 'em. Unless you wanna burn alive."

Vivienne chuckled to herself as she watched the emboar escort the frightened staff and patrons to the stairwell. Vivi and Fifi took up the rear, making sure that there weren't any stragglers. Yet when they reached the stairwell, they found their path blocked by yet more fire. When Andrew asked about her milotic, Vivi rolled her eyes.

"Hopeless, the lot of you. Step aside!"

The towering woman pushed to the front, putting two fingers on the edges of her mouth. She blew harshly, creating a shrill whistle. Hearing the whistle, Temptress slid from her hiding place and joined her master's side. As soon as she noticed Temptress, Vivienne would put her to work.

"Ah, there you are darling. Clear our path please." Temptress nodded, excited at the chance to redeem her ego. She slid closer to the stairwell before unleashing a Water Pulse into the fire blockade. The pulse extinguished just enough for the group to continue forward. "Off you go! It ain't getting any cooler in here."

With Temptress pulsing away fire at the helm, the hostage group would be able to proceed.

Oh, how fate tempts him.

With each step, Miles feels himself losing control almost salivating at the chance now. The room is left empty excluding the two men and their pokemon. Still Bugs attempt to breach but the reflect holds strong still.

The man speaks and Miles can't help the grin forming just beneath his mask. He thinks on his instructor back at base, on what he's learned when confronting an opponent.

"How can you not?"

If possible make your first strike your only strike.

"After all."

He lunges, a swift punch to the throat as if a bullseye had been placed directly atop his adam's apple. The hostages were all but free, but the data could wait as Miles cannot.

"It's your fault. If you and yours hadn't stepped foot in this region, if that cursed blood died in Kanto with your godforsaken parents it wouldn't have come to this." The words are spat like the venom of his namesake.

"If it weren't for you monsters she'd still be alive."

[attr="class","matias"]matias moves in tandem. the punch connects against the side of his neck but adrenaline powers him through. his hand finds his belt and the flash of white is blinding. no instructions need to come because they've trained for this.

even before the flash dissipates, a spear of ice forms (ICICLE CRASH), spiking out as it looks to impale viper's foot to the ground.

matias takes a step to the side, swiveling, then throws a straight right to viper's jaw.

As the paradigm shifts so does the Carracosta. When the Cloyster flies She moves to defend a cannon-like torrent (HYDRO-PUMP) crashes against through the icicle threatening to impale the rocket. Against the force of the water the crystal punctures and falls to pieces raining hail on the combatants. Miles himself isn't quite as prepared, he blocks low only for Matias' fist to come high crashing against his face, the pain is nothing to the rage, the despair that's built up since the passing, it gives him purpose to fight harder, something he doesn't need.

So he doesn't stop pulling his knee forward in an attempt to push it through Silph's chest. He needs him to feel pain, despite it never being enough.

The carracosta watches the Cloyster prepared to defend her trainer against any outside attacks from the seafloor pokemon. Metagross's Reflect begins to falter allowing a few more bugs passage into the vicinity, but it is what it is. Priorities have shifted and neither of the combatants are victims.

"You destroyed our country with your goddamn war Silph."

- Hydro Pump breaks Icicle
- Miles gets his shit punched in

- bugs starting to breakthrough reflect

[attr="class","matias"]the hail does enough to provide cover for viper's knee to connect square against his chest. the wind's forced out of him, gut wrenching from the pain. the impact sends him backwards, separating.

matias breathes.

"my war?"

he spits, eyes darting to gauge the situation. he deems it safe enough to recall the cloyster and does just that.

"you have the wrong silph. i imagine it's fernando you want?"

It feels good or at least it does in the moment. His knee connects with the monster's stomach and he feels his guts reshape around his knee if only for seconds before the opponent reels away. But before what was to be a brutalization continues, Silph recalls his pokemon.

He mentions his brother's name and for the moment Miles decides to entertain this on the fly parley, a Silph as far as he was concerned was a Silph all of them needed to be eradicated, but if the bloodline was a cancer then Fernando was the most grotesque of its tumors - attached to the lungs siphoning the life of the region.

Miles steps back for a moment that anger refusing to subside even now. Truly he needs an opportunity to grab the drives and this little show made for a good opportunity.

"And what if I do Silph." He retrieves the first flash drive eyes never once leaving Matias. The Carracosta also hones in on her trainer's enemy.

"How does that help you."

enemy is grossly exaggerated but it's the word he decides on, perhaps influenced by the intensity of the situation. he feels heat starting to emit from behind him that intensifies with each passing second. he doesn't turn away, not yet.

"i can help you."

As if to prove his point the Silph attempts to bargain more than willing to throw his kin to the snakes.

Serena Malcolm's flashdrive finds itself pocketed in the interim, the initial cause for their infiltration now complete.

"Oh, is that what we have?" Bitter skepticism lines his voice as heat unabashedly rises in the room. Still, there's interest there, Matias hadn't the pull of his brother and any link Miles had to bring down the elder tyrant was useful. To rid the region of one despot just to replace him with a second was a fruitless endeavor.

They were akin to krabby in a barrel willing to pull each other down, to sacrifice anyone for their own ambitions regardless of blood or bond.

"Explain little Silph. What reason could you possibly have to help me." Carracosta remains focused on the two, but the bugs have slowed allowing metagross to rest, perhaps something was warding them off.
