The world darkens in an instant, and brings with it a sharp bruising pain across his entire body as he's feels himself on the precipice of being buried beneath an immense weight. For a moment, he thinks he's died. His spirit seems to leave his body and phase through the sandy ground below, diving deeper into an endless void.

But did the dead feel pain?

This thought brinks him back from the brink— the brink of giving up, letting go, falling into an unconsciousness he is certain he feels creeping upon him. No... they don't, he assures himself, groaning and hearing it echo as he moves his hand across something he feels beneath the tip of his fingers. A familiar touch... dragon scales. 


In that moment, his shadowed Dragapult ferries him out from the shadow realm in which he'd sheltered the man, collapsing into the center of an ancient, obscured courtyard. The fox-faced admin lifts his mask with one hand while the other props him up from the ground, giving his face some space from the tiled stone floor as he coughs out.

"... Fuck."

The Dragapult releases Remiel's fainted Smeargle from its mouth and croaks, almost tauntingly, as it encircles his master in the air like an oversized crow.

The admin steadily begins to lift himself from the ground afterwards, staggering onto both feet but nearly collapsing when a sharp pain shoots up his right leg. His body is bruised. His leg might be fractured. And his back, where he took the brunt of the attack, has certainly seen better days. But he takes a moment to catch his breath; grow familiar with it.

He needs to keep moving.



tl;dr: Remiel's ass is saved by his Dragapult. They reappear in some courtyard nearby. The admin takes a moment to gather his bearings. The attack messed him up pretty badly, but he's determined to keep moving.

Katherine continues to give chase from behind, her pokemon pursuing the same target and objective. Although her Zorua was now all in the dark by itself, the elite four member was confident that it'd find its way back to her eventually.

is the one to lead her very own assailant to what they've come here to retrieve. Much like her, Kat carries no intent to reach for a shard with a hand from up-close. Instead, a surge of energy flows from within her, Giratina's influence beaming out in the form of minor telekinesis, if not manipulation of gravity itself. It secures a grip on a fragment and pulls it with haste to her, its hold unrelenting.

Frankly, she'd have wanted more. She wanted to reach for more, too, but there's only so much one can do when an endless onslaught of HYPER BEAMS causes the very earth to tremble as if it's about to give in and split asunder.

The mystical, unknown pokemon is another target that Katherine remains wary of, preferring to maintain distance away from it.

- katherine arrives. she's late.

- much like the scientist, she also reaches for a fragment and uses her avatar powers to bring it to her. she's a bit sad she can't have more than one, but se la vie. she doesn't want to take unnecessary risks just for the sake of sating her greed.

he'd jump away from the salamance who was met with an unexpected assault. a man who was all about action was a man worth his time. "don't be so modest now! seviper, sniping haze!" a gas of soot was sharply shot out of its throat. creating a black fog.

and then there was salamance.

the dragon was was hurdled back through the fire by a great force of wind. it would now be currently residing on the other side of the wall of flames. but, without warning or tell, a flamethrower was shot through that said wall in return toward the direction it would recall seeing the tapu fini. rather it hit or miss was not of the dragon's concern. but it craved combat, especially with one as powerful as the legendary itself. it would come to soar into the sky. preparing to release a second flamethrower from above.

as the battle between tapu fini and salamance commenced. there was more to be had, done, and said between the former councilman and the ranger killer.

this "sniping haze". as it was called, held a hidden secret. befitting of one who got paid to kill his enemy by any means. this attack looked normal to the naked eye...at first. but in the midst of spewing this black fog. there was a glint that couldn't be missed. this said glint would come to fly past 's cheek--cutting it. the sound of it landing behind the former councilman was heard and, had he chosen to see what the item was, he would come to find the weapon to be an assassin's knife. upon that said knife there was slither of poison upon it.

how long would it take for the poison to act? that would all depend upon him. "got my gift!?" he called out in the cloud of hidden smoke. maneuvering simultaneously within it. "entertain me and i'll give you the antidote. me and my seviper were looking forward to having some fun! don't disappoint us!" seviper would emerge from the smoke to surprise the councilman with a POISON TAIL from the side. hissing loudly enough for the councilman to react.

note:
salamance is sent flying through the wall of fire by nature madness!
salamance shoots a flamethrower through the wall back to where it remembered seeing the tapu fini. it would soar into the air and would release a second flamethrower from above toward tapu fini.

HAZE is used by seviper. though it is called "SNIPING HAZE".
a cloud of black soot envelops both them and the councilman!
in the cloud of smog could see a glint. suddenly he is cut upon the cheek! that said "glint" lands behind him. he will see that it's a knife coated in poison.

mugen says something anime!
seviper, hissing loud enough for fernando to react, prepares to cut the councilman with a POISON TAIL !

A reinforced black ball is plucked from the admin's belt, and the fainted Smeargle is returned into its confines in a flash. It's switched out for another, a Gothitelle, that Remiel commands promptly to heal him (HEAL PULSE).


Even as it does so, the admin limps towards the exit of this courtyard, and is followed diligently by his nurse as she continues to administer her pulse of healing energy. Peeking out around the corner, he sees that he's been transported to another side of the meteor site, and the damned Regidrago protecting it. He lowers his mask across his face.

He'd been in situations such as these before. The last time he could recall, he'd been stabbed through the gut with a Poipole's stinger. Caution needed to be employed, but without risk, would he stand anything to gain? He knew the answer. But, even so, he had not plans of being captured or killed at the hands of these trainers. So one more fragment, he decides. One for himself to keep in secret, and another for Walsh.

Thankfully, he doesn't appear too far from another meteorite piece nearby. Now that his body is starting to feel less cumbersome, though the bruising continues to pain him, Admin Fox returns his Gothitelle to her ball. She bows politely just before she disappears within the ensuing flash. She would likely be summoned again soon, but for now...


tl;dr: The fainted Smeargle is returned to its ball. Remiel summons Gothitelle to heal him for a moment. He then peeks out to get a good reading on his position, before returning the Gothitelle to her ball. He readies himself for his reentry into the field.

[attr="class","illie i"]behind her, battle rages on. klink manages to put one claydol out of commission, the hulking beast crumbling beneath the power of a hyper beam. in the distance, another comes closer, drawn in by the commotion. klink prepares with lock-on, setting its sights on the claydol. while it charges up for another attack, toxapex finishes the second claydol off. liquidation makes quick work of the remainder until all that's left for them is the approaching claydol...

meanwhile, illeana and her5 galarian ponyta are working on securing the meteorite. it's floating over well enough, out of harm's way and closer to their general direction. another meteorite is lifted and snagged without warning, by , and the weird energy from it causes ponyta's concentration to falter. the meteorite trembles, rotates, and falls, the purple glow fading within seconds.

panic rises in the scientist and there's no other decision left besides the one she makes. her body is scrambling before she can stop herself, hurtling up and over some rubble to secure it. her foot catches on a jagged stone, however, and she's tumbling forward. ruins and rocks scrape at her body, leaving her bloody and covered in dirt. no matter, she doesn't care. it can be healed, as evident by the pink mist that begins to roll off her body. she doesn't have time to heal right now, however. the meteorite is her top priority. safety be fucking damned.

it feels so far away and her body aches with pain but each step brings her closer to securing the objective and getting the hell outta here.

tl;dr:

- klink takes down one claydol and uses lock-on to begin targeting another coming into the area, charging up for a zap cannon to be used in next post

- toxapex finishes the second claydol off with liquidation

- galarian ponyta's psychic falters and the meteorite drops

- illie scrambles forward to try and grab it

Using the flames as cover is a simple but effective strategy. None of them are able to perceive the attack before it suddenly lashes out at them. Fernando strafes as a precaution but the attack was never meant to hit him. It’s Tapu Fini who gets roasted, singes camouflaged against its black shell.

However, when the dragon rises, it also reveals itself. The flap of its wings. The air that gets displaced. Even the faint image of it behind the flickering flames—a dead give away that allows the Tapu Fini to home in on it.

Whatever FLAMETHROWER it decides to spew will face the might of Tapu Fini’s SURF. Concentrated water is expunged from its shell in a constant stream.

The SNIPING HAZE passes by him without remorse. Fernando cares little for toxins or smoke. Neither bother him at this point in time. But as it surges past him he feels the hot burn of something sliding past.

Blood.

He doesn’t bother wiping it away. Instead, he starts to move. Anything to displace himself from being an easy target. He leaps backwards, toward Tapu Fini, right as Seviper surprises him with its POISON TAIL. The sharp edge of the tail cuts his chest and the way it swings launches him backwards.

He lands on his feet but the sudden change in tempo is unnerving. For someone to specialize in trainer targeting is a style he hasn’t seen in years. It reminds him why he hates it.

“BATTLE ROUTINE: ALTER!”

Traditional battle sense won’t work against this type of opponent. His Pokemon are expendable—and always will be—but Mugen’s battle style usurps Fernando’s lack of care for his troops. He needs to adapt, to change.

“EXECUTE!”

And he immediately plants his right hand onto the ground, palm flat. It gives his Comfey the chance to spit out various seeds which seep into the earth and grow almost instantaneously. Multiple vines will worm their way underground, erupting around Mugen in an attempt to bind him in a GRASS KNOT.

With the fragment now acquired, Katherine knows that her job here is completed. She doesn’t care to stay for longer than necessary, and although she’s allured by the idea of stealing yet another fragment - she chooses against it.

Mostly, if not only, due to the mere fact that it could compromise her identity. There’s only so much the DARK ROOM is capable of concealing, and she has no intention to find out the extent of the Shadow Move.

Once her Zorua catches up with the rest of Katherine’s group, she recalls all of them into their pokeballs before sinking into the ground and allowing a portal to transport her into the distortion realm, where the fragment will be stored.

“...”

“..I’ve never seen that pokemon before.”

Lucario makes it retreat, falling back to Xander while the Regi is distracted. When he arrives next to the man he's still got, Professor Creighton with him. "Great, you're here. That means we can get out of this shitshow." Xander's quick to return all but his Dragpault.

"Come on, Gloomtail. Use Phantom Force and get us to safety." the Dragon vanishes, teleporting to safety outside of the village. He'd wait for the others to finish up here.



TLDR:

Xander makes his exit.

A tattered, dirty cloak fluttering in the wind.

Despite the aching in his archaeologist heart, the terrain is steamrolled (STEEL ROLLER) in favor of his Heatran's speed, presumably clearing away the pink mist in the area. It's a straight shot to the fragment he saw earlier as a result. Though, as his hell-beast draws closer in a rapid succession of stomps, he realizes another is making their way towards it. His Heatran leaps into the air, forcing the fox-faced admin to grip onto one of its horns for balance before it lands near their target.

A plume of dust and exposed soil erupts out from the ground. When it clears from all around , she'll see the masked man standing atop his volcanic Pokémon. Little does she know that it is Remiel behind the mask, staring at her incredulously as she reaches for the glowing fragment. Once again, his personal life has clashed rather harshly with his business as an admin of Team Rocket... and, in addition, his own set of goals.

Even if she should say anything, he would be far too cautious to reply— wary that she would recognize his voice, even without the Galarian accent. His large Heatran growls at the puny Pokémon protecting her. Just as he begins to ready himself to take the fragment she is reaching for, however, the Regidrago takes a pause from whichever force it is battling to rear one of its gauntlets in her direction. Suddenly, his dilemma intensifies.

And, in this case, he goes with his gut.

Heatran roars as it is prompted ahead towards the Regidrago with whistle and a point. is left behind, and the gauntlet that had readied a HYPER BEAM in her direction is shoved downward with a BODY PRESS. The explosion forms another crater below,  the concussive blast powerful enough to blow the Heatran backwards.


tl;dr: Admin Fox summons and mounts his Heatran across the battlefield like a bat out of hell, steamrolling across the terrain to reach the fragment being reached for by . Recognizing her, however, Remiel reconsiders stealing the fragment in favor of fending off Regidrago to save her. He and Heatran are blasted backwards.

his toxin was a strong one. it was surprising that fernando had little shift in his equilibrium or motor function. this guy was just the ripe for the picking. a rare flower among the common! before he could move forward mugen would come to be binded. "neat trick!" he'd call out another pokemon: LIEPARD.

FURY SWIPE was used to sever the vine that ensnared him!

"oi, get in there salamence!" the dragon-type would continue to clash with the tapu fini's mystical water. steam erupting between the pair. "haha, he's busy with his own fight." that just meant it was time for liepard to play. with LIMBER movement. it would maneuver to aid the seviper in battle. the playful liepard prepared a NIGHT SLASH for Tapu Fini wheras seviper prepared a POISON TAIL for .

though, quickly, with a shout he would say, "swap!" the liepard would aim for and seviper the tapu fini from the back.

note:

mugen is amazed by fernando's "resilience" to the poison.

salamance continues to hold the surf in place with his flamethrower for a little while longer.
liepard is summoned, uses fury swipes on the vines. then rushes in to help seviper.
prepares to use night slash on tapu fini and seviper poison tail on --at first.
but he orders the pair to swap targets.

not battle execute alter. fernando has grown stronger!!!!

He hears the Regidrago's peculiar trill as they're airborne. In the blast, his hand slipped from the hell-beast's horn and he's drifted off. Through the constant flapping of his tattered cloak, however, the admin dives downward to place himself against its belly. He didn't expect it to do much except cushion the fall that was soon to come, but it was better than hitting the ground with his own body.

Instead, his Heatran landed on and absolutely decimated an ancient draconid community building with his back. Pain, the unwelcome intruder, zapped throughout the admin's body once more. A cloud of rubble and dust covered the area, shielding them from the Regidrago's view as it turned away from them shortly thereafter. 

As the dust clears, the Heatran groans, more annoyed than injured, as it flails its legs in the air like a turtle laying back on its hell. Remiel, in the meantime, struggles to crawl back up on both feet upon its belly. His mask now sports a large crack through its right side.

Though he carefully tries to slide off the Heatran, this only results in him collapsing downward and hitting the ground below with a pain-filled yelp. It was better than the fall they had taken just now, that was for sure. But it still had him in a heap.


tl;dr: Heatran hits the ground on its back and crushes a building. Admin Fox is worse for wear. He tries to slide off his Heatran's belly, but ends up taking a wrong step and collapsing onto the rubble below.

Fernando’s unaware of the poison hidden on the blade. It makes sense in hindsight but it’s a snippet of information that goes right over his head. His mind is too preoccupied with his next move.

A Liepard is summoned, adding another Pokemon into the mix. The time it uses to free Mugen is one where Fernando creates greater distance by escaping further back until the fire is against his back.

“That one!”

He thrusts his wrist outwards and the Comfey bracelet lets out a DRAINING KISS. An enlarged projection of pink lips seeks out the feline with a sudden burst of speed due to Comfey’s TRIAGE. His intention behind it is to cover their types and weaknesses but the fact the Pokemon end up swapping plays in his favor. Coincidence turns Mugen’s surprise against him.

The same cannot be said for Tapu Fini. The POISON TAIL lands as the Pokemon continues to draw out the exchange with Salamence. After it lands, the Pokemon lets up its SURF only to redirect it in a circular spray, pushing back the Seviper in a sudden tide.

As the admin recovers nearby, the shadowed Dragapult he sent off quickly scours the terrain for the Orbeetle they had left behind. Its means of traversal proves quite effective in it covering a large distance fast, and it even sends out a swarm of miniature Dreepy to scout the area for its partner as well.

Soon enough, one of these Dreepy release a ping. Bug-like in nature, the Orbeetle has reached out with its TELEPATHY to make a connection. Before long, the swarm regroups with their father in two, who swiftly gulps them down into its mouth.

The Orbeetle releases a short spurt of chitters to the Dragapult in dialogue, but the shadowed beast doesn't answer. Not one for talk since its metamorphosis, it had simply set out what it had been commanded to do. Though the Orbeetle wondered exactly what the admin did to keep such a nasty thing in line with his commands. 

Its telepathy, after all, had its limits. When it tried to pry the secrets out from the mind of this Dragapult, all it saw was pestilence, darkness, and death in response.

The creature creates a portal, and the two enter it.


tl;dr: Shadow Dragapult rounds up Orbeetle to regroup with Remiel.

[attr="class","illie i"]while illeana works toward securing her meteorite, klink finishes off the last claydol. zap cannon fires once fully charged, knocking the clay beast down into rubble. both klink and toxapex have finished their job and wait for their trainer, keenly aware of their surroundings in case danger pops up again.

confusion etches itself into her features as a pokemon with a figure on it's back leaps into her area. dirt scatters, billowing up like smoke and leaving her choking. once it clears, she's left to still. panic rises quickly, blue eyes widening without hesitation. panic makes her twitchy, makes her nervous, propels her to move. she's scrambling to grab the meteorite before can make another move. the space rock feels weird beneath her fingers but she holds on for dear life...

which, turns out, could've just ended.

a scream tries to rip its way out of her throat but nothing comes. regidrago points a cannon toward her, charges, and begins to fire. there's nothing she can do but stare, expecting death, detachment.

except, death doesn't get to own illeana reyes tonight. instead, this masked man and his heatran take the brunt of the blow. the explosion sends them backwards, the heatran laying belly up moments later. there's not a single thought in her mind besides running. and while she should run away, she decides against that path. the path to the man leads her, her gut bringing her to his side without hesitation. she arrives with wobbly legs and blood dripping from open wounds. it's nothing compared to him, however, and she's waving her pastel pony over easily.

"hold still," she murmurs as he tries to move, mask cracked slightly but not her concern. psychic terrain bleeds from her body and she shifts as close as possible, allowing pink mist to waft over him in an attempt to soothe his wounds. healing takes time, however, and there's only so much she can do by herself. "heal pulse, please." the galarian ponyta begins the same job, heal pulse coming in the form of a pink glow.

and while she works, she flashes a meek smile.

"thank you," she whispers, unsure if he'll even hear it. as much as she could manage is finished by now, allowing her enough time to rise and step back. "you should leave soon." if he wants to survive. funny, she should take her own advice.

and she does within moments, withdrawing to rejoin the remainder of her team and escaping from meteor falls with her meteorite clutched safely to her chest.

tl;dr:

- klink finishes off their last claydol with zap cannon

- illie's confused

- grabs for the meteorite after & his heatran land, wide eyed n panicked

- nervous and concerned when remy gets blasted

- checks on him when he lands and tries to heal with her psychic terrain and galarian ponyta's heal pulse

- makes her leave with her team once she's certain he's alive

the smoke would come to be dissipated by the powerful gust born from the surf's aoe. seviper was sent back and liepard as well. their attacks successful. "useless pokemon," mugen stated with annoyance. mugen would reach for the weaponry upon the back of his waist. "i'll just have to do it myself---" the sound of claydol would come to surprise the ranger killer as several would emerge from the wall of fire.

one specifically would TACKLE mugen. catching him off guard and sending him hurdling through a old village house. their fight was interrupted unfortunately. this was enough time for to do what he needed to do.

their fight was interrupted by a horde of claydol pokemon!!
