Adrian expressed himself only with a terse glare and knitted eyebrows, wishing for nothing more than a chance to prove himself, yet failing at every opportunity that passed. Now he was weary from battle, forced to rely on pokemon with inadequate training. Crestfallen from ceaseless defeats, he could only remain optimistic.

Maybe I can bag this one, turn things around. Only time would tell.

Now having their first win, Spice felt on a roll. After having beaten a new Gym Leader and their ghost the Rockruff wanting more. So after a quick trip to the pokemon center Razz kept on the H✩TApp to get a match up. Against one Adrian Malcolm. [break][break]

"Remember to keep up you're guard," he warns his pokemon who just gives a bark showing they were ready. He doesn't know much of the other as musical artist weren't people on his radar. "Umm good luck to you?" he tries to be friendly, but his social tolerance was already reaching near it's max today. Salem pats him, happy his trainer was even trying, "Feel free to go first."

"Heya." Adrian, too, is sapped of his usual social vigor. Though it is not so much the crowds that trouble him, as it is the staggering number of defeats, each more insulting than the last. "Alright, here goes..." Adrian begins to tense up, his throat tightening:

"Ariados, go." It digs deep beneath the sands where it has burrowed, undetected as it begins excreting something into the sands, INFESTING them with a peculiar biomatter.

From the sands the bugs come, causing irritation in Spice's fur. Making the Rockruff scratch his fur as if he had flees. Though the INFESTATION wasn't going to discourage them as Razz whistles. Shaking themselves before howling. The rocks come off his neck, growing before sending themselves at the Ariados with the use of ROCK SLIDE.

Ariados and its horde SWARM the Rockruff, though it is as the biting of fleas; inconsequential. Jagged rocks impale the soft earth, wreaking havoc on Ariados' carapace where they strike, causing it to ooze in an unsightly way. It shrieks and hisses in an alien tongue before spooling a STICKY WEB that erupts from the sands and encapsulates the pup, encumbering it with adhesive, binding threads.

And all the while the horde closes in, climbing along the webs nimbly and reaching their mark, gnawing on the canine's hide relentlessly.

Once more Spice scratches his fur as the INFESTATION bugs him once more. He was going to have to work harder if he was going to come up on top before the bugs got to him in the end. Now with the webs around him from the sticky webs they were going to have to try thing a bit differently. "Lets break the web." [break][break]

The ranger once again whistles as they howl. Rocks surround him to help break up the webs a bit for next round before ROCK SLIDE its aimed against at the spider.

"Psychic!" The rocks tore through its webbing, stretching and disrupting them, but the granite leveled at Ariados itself would be halted in its advance, glowing an eerie lavender before reversing back towards the Rockruff to return to sender. Meanwhile the spider unearthed itself and began skittering across the sands, mandibles click-clacking as it approached. His own skin crawled to see the sands swarming with mites.

Clearly I'm at the disadvantage, but let's see where this goes...

Spice will not be taken out by its own move. His trainer whistles to evade and rather than getting away from his attacker Spice aimed forward jumping from one rock to the next to try and avoid any left over webbing on the sand. [break][break]

While the Infestation still hurt is kept going, electric fangs coming in front of him as he ran at the spider pokemon going in for a THUNDER FANG.[break][break]

"Ariados!" It writhes in pain as the Rockruff savages it, its body leaking an acrid cruor, though it was far from finished off. In retaliation its rears its chittering, insectoid head, mandibles clicking until it jabs two fangs into the Rockruff's exposed flank. CROSS POISON is not only capable of infecting them, but the keen sting has been known to leave victims twice its size reeling with debilitating pain.

"Keep it up! Don't back down!" His earlier concern was palpable, but nothing next to the excitement that a chance at victory elicited from Adrian.

Another type of whistle and a different attack happens. Before the Ariados could even get in their attack Spice is there. Striking them with a SUCKER PUNCH with their head to slam close. [break][break]

Though it does have leave him open for the CROSS POISON. The attack knocking the bork back into the sand with a harsh thud, "Spice!" Razz calls out worried wondering if he should just give in now. However the pup barks back, tail wagging as it's indicator of the fun it was having. While he was lucky to miss the poison, the infestation and harsh hit make it hard. [break][break]

There is a determined glint in their eye, Spice wasn't going to fall. [break][break]

The arachnid struggles to find its footing, rolling off its back after Rockruff gives it a thorough pummeling. Whether Ariados twitches with the early onset of PARALYSIS or simply from the trauma isn't inherently clear to Adrian, so he holds back on a command. But as the Ariados leers as its opponent, its eyes begin to glow a strange shade of lavender, before striking out at Rockruff with a NIGHT SHADE.

Spice stares down his opponent, watching to see what would happen. Razz doing the same, ready to call for an order. He might have been tired, he might not like battles. But his pokemon were trying their best so it was only fair for him to try and give them an edge. Even if it seemed like the rockruff was taking this more personal. [break][break]

with a final howl Rockruff uses ROCK SLIDE, trying to block a bit of the night shade to reduce its damage before the rocks go after the bug.

Exhausted from the incessant struggling, and weakened at the joints from Spice's savageries, Ariados cannot navigate around the rocks before they come crashing towards it. Something like a hiss escaped its mandibles before it was mashed, pinned underneath the slabs of stone until Adrian retrieved it from the arena.

And that was the end of it. Having made a habit of offering a handshake at the end of a match, he approached the other trainer, holding out his palm. "Thanks for the battle. 'M Adrian, by the way. Sick pooch. It got a name?"

Spice barks in victory happy to have won. Though while usually he would've jumped around in joy the tired pooch ended up just falling to the ground, paws out, with exhaustion. Razz moves to recall the pup into their pokeball to have them healed up. Maybe he should be involving him in less intense battles. [break][break]

As the other comes up to him Razz pauses and listens in, "No thank you, really sorry bout your Ariados, will they be okay? And he goes by Spice," he almost forgets the hand until Salem points it out. Oh right, he makes sure to shake. Try to play nice.
