despite the rallying of the group, it seems as they still stand divided. but they can at least agree on one thing: scouting.[break][break]

Laurence Anderson: your lucario's aura-sensing capabilities sweep across the vicinity before ending at the warehouses. it's hard to tell, especially at that distance, but lucario is able to sense one aura and something else that seems fogged. obscured. lucario isn't too sure what it is but it knows that the one confirmed aura is weak, as if fading.[break][break]

kyle lopez: your aerodactyl approaches from a distance and keeps high in the skies, making sure to keep enough distance to remain undetected. from that high up, aerodactyl isn't able to see into the warehouses. but what it does see is nothing. there's nothing surrounding the warehouses that would indicate a trap.[break][break]

@kuru: your gengar, like kyle lopez's aerodactyl, is unable to see anything beyond the steel walls. your gallade, however, sees the same thing as Laurence Anderson's lucario.[break][break]

Thomas Benoit: your camera-mounted galvantula starts its approach. please roll once in your next post.[break][break]

Stormy Silph: you're trying your best.[break][break]

however your pokemon may choose to relay the information gained back to you, it's clear that there is at least one person in the warehouses. with that information in your head, and knowing that the vicinity is clear of any visible traps,[break][break]

He could only shrug as two of the party had taken it upon themselves to go forward, unable to wait and discuss further precautions. Lars can only sigh—were the two that had strode forward in an approach really that impatient?

He was about to voice something on his mind when he felt a presence pat him on the shoulder. Looking over, he saw that Alpha was now pointing ahead at the warehouse, a grim look on his face.

“Alph? What is it?” he began, trying to figure out what the Lucario was trying to tell him. Oh, if he could understand PokéSpeak, he’d definitely get to the bottom of this! As it was, however, he couldn’t—so the best he could do was take a guess at what the dual-type wanted to say.

“Luca,” the jackal-like Pokémon began, other paw still pointed ahead. For a few moments he couldn’t understand what he wanted to say, before emphasizing the direction he was pointed at. One paw went up, before pointing down at the ground and them moving its foot in a singular downward motion. After that, the Lucario pointed again—as if urging them forward.

“Are you sure?” he asked the other, before getting a nod.

With that gesture drawn into the dirt, he was troubled—and he came to a stop, thinking for a few moments; picking apart at the information that had been passed to him. Once he’d managed to figure it out somewhat, he then saw that his Lucario was miming something out—like he wanted the rest of the group to go ahead, to hurry up—before pointing with actual emphasis at the warehouse and holding up its paw again.

“We have to go,” he said at last, watching the actions of one of his long-time Pokémon companions. “He’s picked up on one aura. Maybe two,” he began, as the Lucario looked over at the Gallade, before pointing in the same direction—towards the warehouse.

The Lucario looked over in the distance; before asking the other Pokémon for confirmation, that he’d also sensed the presence of that one aura that was fading—along with something else that was rather distorted and couldn’t be picked up on; at least not right now.

- Lars is quietly appalled at the impatience of two of their companions
- Lucario finishes its sweep of the area, before alerting his companion about his findings
- gestures for Lars to look down at what he's trying to point out, and then emphasizing the need for urgency to move forward
- makes sure that the Lucario is getting its reading right. After all, Alphas aura-reading capabilities can't lie...
- puzzles the meaning of what the Lucario says for a bit, before looking up at everyone and informing them that they have to get moving
- Lucario looks over at the Gallade, asking for confirmation that it had also sensed the same thing he did.

As Stormy tells him to be careful, Thomas gives her a nod. Given that the Galvantula scout was his way of stealthily checking for such threats, he knew the risk that was involved. But then, he and his Pokemon knew what they were getting into with this rescue operation.

Thomas released Taze the Galvantula from his Pokeball. "Hold still, Taze.", Thomas said, before putting the camera setup on the head of the Galvantula, placing it carefully so as to not hurt of blind him, while making sure that the camera had a clear view. Once he had placed the camera on the head of the Galvantula successfully, he would pull the tablet off the holster on his side, taking a moment to get the camera set up for live view.

Thomas gave Taze a thumbs up, and pointed him towards the warehouse. The Galvantula would then make his way up the structure, looking for any windows or ventilation shafts he could enter from. If the Galvantula managed to find an opening, or something loose enough for him to open himself, he'd attempt to enter the structure from there, and begin scouting the warehouse.

"What'd your Lucario find?", Thomas would ask Lars. "Good work!", Thomas told Lars.

If his Galvantula couldn't get into the warehouse, or the feed cut out, then they'd have no choice, but to enter and hope for the best.

His Aerodactyl returns to him soon enough. No reaction from the Flying-type meant that it did not find anything of importance, or at least, based on the Pokemon's judgement. The Aerodactyl was strangely obedient for its species, which he may attribute to its biological age, and with it came with inexperience. He supposed he'd just have to trust his Pokemon instead of worrying about it. Finding him too bulky to bring alone, he returns him to his Pokeball only to be called when he needs him again.

His attention switches to the members of their party whose Pokemon managed to acquire the necessary information for them to go on. Kyle decides to simply leave the situation with them, saying nothing and giving his Manectric a single pat on the head. Should anything worse come, he expects the canine to give them a warning.

"You know your job, right?" he asks his Pokemon.

Carrying the supplies he finds too heavy to carry on his own was one of them. Assisting Stormy's movement was an abrupt addition, though it would not deter the Pokemon from being the emergency alarm. Kyle was naturally wary, and so his Pokemon have all grown to adjust to their trainer's rather careful approach on things.

Her question probably rings a dull one, perhaps painting her as naive and stupid. However, this is only because she's thinking hard. [break][break]

Laurence suggests that there may be two auras, given the urgency of the Lucario. She figures the officer knows what his Pokemon is talking about, so she has no reason to doubt them.[break][break]

She looks up at Kyle's Aerodactyl as it returns to them, and it's calm disposition and Kyle's lack of excitement suggest that the fossil Pokemon didn't see anything of interest.[break][break]

Stormy is still sweating with anticipation and anxiety, though.[break][break]

"One aura... I can't seem to shake the feeling something isn't right. I really think we should stick together and make this as quick as we possibly can. If Thomas can get his Galvantula to take a look inside and take pictures or video and come back out in one piece, then I think we'll have our game plan. Something tells me even though there aren't any traps outside, there's something inside waiting for us."[break][break]

Her words are almost redundant, but she tends to speak her mind when under pressure. It's almost as if she's trying to convince herself of what she's saying.[break][break]

Natsu watched as her Liepard returned, it seemed there was nobody sitting laying in wait outside of the warehouse as pokemon were coming back to inform their humans. With that she returned the dark type and looked at Phillipe with a little frown on her face, something still was bugging her deep in her gut. With that she crouched down and placed a hand on the ground type's head who looked up at her.

"Phillipe, if something happens you will need to escape and take the others with you.... If anything you will be taken back to my brother alright?" Phillipe gave a little noise and placed his paw and claws lightly on her arm. "Yes I know, even if I'm left behind you do it alright? You aren't like my others who are only fighters and been with me since the start..." Natsu would speak in a low voice to her Sandslash and let him know a bit more of what to do just incase before standing up and glancing at the others.

With that she went to walk towards the Warehouse to look for a way in, either a window or any other doors that could be used to get in or out. Getting a lay of the land so to speak.

Notes: Pouty McPout Face over here, giving a if the worst should happen talk to phillipe, then searched for extra doors and windows.

Thomas Benoit: your 99 roll is enough to allow your galvantula to crawl up the side of the warehouse, feet light and undetected, before stopping by the skylight above. there is no opening, however, but it is enough to provide a clear image of what is in the warehouse:[break][break]

in the corner of the warehouse is a woman tied up in a chair, though the image your camera is transmitting isn't clear enough to tell who the woman is. in addition to that, there is also another person standing by her.[break][break]

the image soon stutters then turns to static. transmission is cut as the signal is lost. it's as if an ELECTRIC TERRAIN is disrupting your attempts at reconnaissance.[break][break]

@natsu: your search for extra doors and windows doesn't tell you much except for what you already know: there is only one door to the warehouse and one window at the top; the same window Thomas Benoit's galvantula is perched at.[break][break]

with the information at hand, what do you do?[break][break]

Thomas would watch as his Galvantula managed to silently and deftly climb up the warehouse walls, towards the rooftop. Though Taze was unable to find a vent or window to squeeze into, he managed to get a good view of the place through the skylight. Thomas' view from the tablet confirmed what he had feared. Not only was there a woman tied to a chair, allegedly the good Commissioner, but a figure standing near her. But before he could try to get a closer look, the feed began to become cut off, being reduced to nothing but static.

It seemed like an Electric Terrain was now jamming his feed, causing Thomas to curse to himself, before turning to the rest of the group.

"There's a second figure standing near the hostage! And from the looks of it, they're expecting company, alright! They've apparently set up an Electric Terrain, so putting the enemy to sleep is out of the question!", Thomas called out to the rest of the group.

"If anyone wants to go in through the front, just be careful! And whatever you do, do not lower your guns, or withdraw your Pokemon, should they threaten her life! Keep your weapons, and your Pokemon, trained on the figure!", he'd tell the group.

He would then turn to Stormy, quickly pulling out an Alakazam from its Pokeball. "Stormy, I need you to have one of your Pokemon use Will O Wisp on my Alakazam. I know it sounds crazy, but trust me, I know what I'm doing.", he'd tell the younger woman in a quieter voice.

Indeed, thanks to Alakzam's ability in Magic Guard, he would not only be protected from Burn damage, but from something potentially much more debilitating to him. In any case, whether she complied, or refused, he'd recall Freke to his Pokeball, as well as Brutus.

"I'll try to breach from the skylight.", he'd tell the group. He would then attempt to stealthily make his way up to the rooftop of the building as quietly as he could. If he were to make it successfully, then he'd assume position near the skylight, attempting to stay out of sight, while preparing to rappel down when the time was right.

Once he had the cable set up, and Natsu was in position, Thomas would hop down through the window, attempting to slide down the cable into the warehouse below them. He would quickly attempt to deploy Freke the Alakazam, and draw his gun.

Meanwhile, Taze would remain on the roof, ready to attempt to crawl along the ceiling once those inside had their attention on the group, and get into position to offer a stealthy assist.

Natsu frowned as she walked back towards the group after searching as well, hearing Thomas' words she couldn't help but sigh and shake her head. "Only one door, and apparently the only window is the one Thomas found unless there are more on top." With this she recalled her pokemon though with a frown, sure she was blunt and everything but it didn't sit well with her about there being only one door. She could potentially have Richard melt a hole in the side but there was also the possibility it would cook whomever was within... or other unpleasant things.

"I'll join him up on the roof, if I let Richard out I'll yell his name... if you don't hear me I'm sure the fire will be noticable." Who knew how bad and noisy it would get on the inside. With that she took to the roof and let out Keres, while she wasn't big enough for her to ride on the dragon could slow her descent. Strobe was also brought out to hover around them, at least with the electric terrain she didn't have to worry too much. Before they did get up there however she spoke to strobe.

"Strobe you protect Keres as we head on down, then let loose but not towards the female unless I say so." Strobe gave a soft hum, Natsu on the other hand got her pokeballs in ready to reach while her weapon in her hand. When it was time she would drop down in with Keres acting like a parachut and Strobe floating down with them.

Natsume and Thomas would both take the window from what it looked like. "I guess I'll take the main entrance once you're in. I got the defenses for it." He couldn't really leave his Manectric, nor Stormy, on the ground and follow the two of them to the unconventional route they were taking.

He would shift his attention to his Ninetales. "Strengthen the blizzard back up. Set up the best Aurora Veil you can put up. Refresh the Safeguard once we open go in." His hands would reach for another Pokeball as his Ninetales followed the command set up for him. Cold was getting uncomfortable, but it wasn't enough to stop Kyle from feeling the anxiety from the pressure that the mission had for them.

His Tyranitar would appear before him, its large size and durable plating makes it the best choice for Kyle's first line of defense. Screens would reinforce its defenses and the sandstorm was summoned by its presence. Kyle would ask for his Ninetales to get her own weather condition down. The clash between both the hail and the sandstorm was too much annoyance to be dealing right now.

His hand would reach for the pistol as he nudged his Tyranitar forward. "You ready?"

Seeing as everyone else was intent on heading in, that then left the very obviously injured Stormy astride a Manectric—and that threw him into a fit of indecision. He then remembered that the other half of the team were Interpol Agents, and were most probably much better-equipped to deal with something like this.

He caught sight of the other Ranger, Kyle, joining them as the team went inside—were they really going to leave her alone? Shaking his head, he then looked over to Stormy.

“Let’s have the Agents deal with this… I can’t leave you alone out here. I have a bad feeling about what’s going to go down inside… like my gut is screaming at me that it’s a fucking trap,” he began quietly in the fellow Ranger’s direction. “And they’re living you out here vulnerable and alone? I’d rather stay with you out here just in case they do spring a surprise on us… you never know,” he added grimly.

At the same time, he was incredibly tossed—while everyone else had decided to go on ahead and charge inside, he began juggling some Pokéballs, trying to make up his mind on what he wanted to do.

I can’t send Ro out… he’s supposed to be the ace in the hole… he thought, looking over at Alpha, who was staring at the warehouse. “Alph, I can’t risk leaving her out here… you’re with me. You too, Sui,” he said to the Swampert, who by now had pretty much recovered thanks to the Chansey’s Egg of Healing.

While this decision would’ve made him look like a coward, he preferred to think of it along the lines of ‘covering all the bases’, so to speak…

- Lars watches the rest of the team head into the warehouse...
- He makes up his mind to stay with Stormy outside, leave this to the professionals.
- Lucario and Swampert join Lars as the rearguard, keeping an eye on Stormy. Can't leave the injured Ranger alone now can we?

Maybe she's a coward, or maybe she's the only one smart enough to hold back.[break][break]

Regardless, she feels a cold shiver of dread roll down her back. It makes her fingertips tingle and her breathing shallow. Her thoughts sink back to Kanto, the horror she's seen.[break][break]

The coldness of the Alolan Ninetales' blizzard is starting to affect her. She can feel her teeth chattering in protest as the cold air washes over her skin.[break][break]

This whole situation keeps reminding her of what happened in Kanto. She's reminded of how useless she was even then, and she hadn't been crippled. Panic threatens to choke her as she assumes the worst. They were surely walking into a trap.[break][break]

It's only when Thomas addresses her directly, following a long-winded and nerve-wracking explanation of what his Galvantula had seen, that she comes to her senses.[break][break]

"What? Oh... uh, okay."[break][break]

Her voice is shaky, and she's barely registered what it is he's asked. For whatever reason, he wants her to burn his Alakazam. The woman nods to her Chandelure, who lets loose a couple of feisty, fiery will-o-wisps. The little blights hover around the psychic type, following him.[break][break]

But, that's all she can really do. Thomas and Natsume have already taken off, hell-bent on rescuing whoever that person was in the chair. Did they not seem suspicious? Did this whole situation not seem like a trap to them, or did they just not care?[break][break]

Thomas orders everyone to keep their weapons up and their focus trained on the task at hand, to not bow down to fear. But, she can't help but be afraid. [break][break]

Stormy feels her breath hitch in her throat as she turns around to see that Kyle has also made a move to enter, although he's going through the front door.[break][break]

It's left to just her and Laurence to decide on their best course of action. She's sifting through her muddled thoughts just as the older ranger offers to stay behind with her. Her heart seems to skip a beat in surprise as she turns to face him.[break][break]

"You don't have to sit around on your thumbs to protect me, Anderson. I can handle myself."[break][break]

It's a lie though. She's over the moon thankful someone has decided to stay behind with her.[break][break]

"I don't want to be useless though. My Pokemon are obedient, if you need their help they'll assist you."[break][break]

She thumbs through her pokeballs, retrieving Torkoal. The small tortoise Pokemon appears, blinking her eyes slowly.[break][break]

"She knows protect, and can start a drought. She may be useful."[break][break]

Stormy also glances at Chandelure, who seems anxious about leaving her trainer.[break][break]

"If you need Chandelure's help, feel free to take her with you as well. Chansey and I will stay behind with Lars and Manectric. We'll be your escape should you need it."[break][break]

Stormy caught what Anderson had said to her earlier, his low tones echoing her own thoughts. She nods to him, understanding what he's said.[break][break]

"Be careful."[break][break]

She says this to the agents now embarking on an impossibly dangerous task.[break][break]

"do you hear that?"

the sounds of despair: blood-curdling screams echo through the vacant woods, bouncing off the steel walls of the warehouse as they ricochet inside, forcing its occupants to hear the terror. dahlia goode is tied to the chair; that has not changed since the day she was brought in.

in front of her, the rocket boss stands. he soon starts circling her, like predator to prey: slowly and meticulously.

"that, commissioner, is the sound of defeat." a step takes him behind her. "not for me, but for you. and do you know why?"

the answer is simple.

"because your officers are no different than us." he's handed a tablet by an admin that stands guard. one tap of the screen brings up a replay of the scene.

what the rescue team doesn't realize is that there are cameras strung up on nearby trees, hidden within the thick foliage of greens that captured every single detail of what transpired.

including the burning of the two victims.

"that's not self-defense. that's murder."

look at the facts: two men, drunk off their minds, were approached by a party of six in the dead middle of night. it was hasty of them to react with violence, sure, but the media has its ways of spinning things. what's important to the story is that they don no uniform that tells their allegiance. all that's left of them are their charred remains, their belongings, and their pokemon.

that, is the story the media will have.

"the morals you set for your faction were just spat on, degraded like those men they burned alive. they used their pokemon, commissioner. do you remember how kanto fell? why i was able to conquer as quickly as i did?" he smiles. "because i was not afraid to use my pokemon as weapons."

"which was the very thing your people once condemned and fought against. you fucking hypocrites."

he places the tablet in her lap and taps it once again to switch displays. she'll be able to see a split-screen of four different cameras: two outside the warehouse, one further out, and one inside.

"remember to forgive yourself."

he takes a step away and calls out his noivern.

"goodbye, dahlia."

number one mistake: splitting up.

Thomas Benoit and @natsu breach by the skylight that hangs overhead while kyle lopez enters through the front, all armed and at the ready to save their beloved commissioner.

it won't be that easy.

silas might not be here but his pokemon are. the ELECTRIC TERRAIN from before surges with volatile energy as a luxray stands CHARGING. the dark clouds above aren't natural, no, not by any means; they are an accumulation of what happens when luxray has the luxury of CHARGING for a while.

and finally, at the same time as Thomas Benoit and @natsu breach, the dark clouds DISCHARGE a strong burst of lighting that strikes right at them as they slide down the cable. the sudden zap causes the rope to burn and tear, ultimately snapping. for whatever reason, @natsu will find herself being affected more by the electricity than Thomas Benoit. the two of them will be left to react to the sudden surge of electricity that will most likely hurt them, and also the fall to the ground.

but that's not the only source: from the luxray itself comes another jolt of DISCHARGE, this time aimed at kyle lopez as the door swings open. his tyranitar is up front as a SANDSTORM picks up, but this DISCHARGE is more volatile and precise in nature. it flies underneath the tyranitar, in between its legs and strikes kyle lopez in his right leg, rendering it, and maybe more, numb and useless.

the rocket admin doesn't budget from his spot, standing right next to dahlia goode with a pistol in his hand. he hasn't aimed it yet; his demeanor is calm as it looks like he's assessing the situation.

nothing comes for Laurence Anderson or Stormy Silph outside yet.

luxray is the rescue team's first obstacle.

what will they do?

» DISCHARGE zaps at a few people. don't forget to consider impact, conduction, and aftermath of being shocked.
» the people outside are safe for now ^-^
» dahlia is tied up and gagged in the chair near the back of the room, away from the entrance and skylight. the admin stands next to her.
» no rolls are required anymore.

-Alakazam's Pokeball hits the ground button-first, bringing him out
-Alakazam uses Psychic on Thomas and Natsu to ease their fall
-Alakazam telepathically asks Lao's Gengar to work with him
-Alakazam used Telekinesis and Focus Blast on Luxray

Lao snorted as everyone entering the building got blasted by electricity. "And this, Superbi, is why I don't like to enter first." Lao frowned, though, when he registered that the bound woman was indeed Dalia, and quickly released his pokemon.

"Superbi, get the commissioner. You know the drill. Ira, help Alakazam. Free reign. Bradipo, set up the barriers. Turtonator, start using Shell Break. Mudsdale, standby."

Superbi, the Gallade, quickly teleported to Dahlia, and wrapped his arms around her before using Protect to generate a forcefield around them. If he could gather his energy fast enough, he would immediately teleport with her still bound to the chair to the Leage Headquarters.

Ira, the Gengar, launched into the air after the floating Luxray, and her eyes began glowing with Hypnosis. This far in the air from the Electric Terrain, she should be able to put the great cat to sleep. If she succeeded, she would quickly begin to chain Hex's onto the sleeping cat. If not successful, she would begin to unload alternating Shadow Balls and Dark Pulses.

Bradipo, the Cryogonal, quickly moved in front of his trainer and used Light Screen and Reflect, to give additional defenses to the whole team.

Turtonator began using Shell Break, increasing his power. He would use Incinerate on anything that came to close to his trainer, but for the moment, bided his time. Mudsdale followed his example.
