Cardamom frowned for just a moment at Andy Blackadder's words, even as she sat down with the rest. She nodded as Ruby made introductions, though, letting the older girl leave to invite Eris over. "Nice to meet you, Hideo, Andy." She could at least try to be civil with the snarky little guy. "How'd you guys first meet Ruby? Like I said, we met during the Hoenn Star Tournament at first." It was a fairly neutral topic of conversation for now, considering they were all still pretty much strangers to each other.

Mint nodded along as a response before zoning out to quickly scoop melting ice cream into his mouth while the group of kids chattered on. Setting it up for a few quick phots in this heat had make it start to drip on the side of bowl. Without much though, Mint’s licking and slurping up the excess on the side before taking out a huge scoop. It’s too hot for brain freeze at least. The beach, at least their corner, is rowdy with most of the action happening amongst the children, trainers younger than him he didn’t particularly want to bother. [break][break]

Then he spotted a familiar face, remembering the poor guy from the raid. He’d given up his name, right? He couldn’t remember exactly. Well, he could just ask him. No one would fault him for forgetting in the midst of a terrible situation. The urge to say ‘hi’ grew and he’s moving towards the taller trainer when he lets out something not appropriate. Then the follow up attempt to correct it only earned a small burst of laughter from Mint. “Smooth. Have you ever babysat?” Mint chimed in as he dug his spoon into his ice cream and presented the brunette with a quick wave. “What’s your name again? I remember you getting attacked more than I remember what to call you. Sorry.” He added. “How’s your burns?? And the bloody arm?” he added.

Hideo gritted his teeth, smiling as he failed to hold back a snort. Had Andy Blackadder 's Rotomdex not noticed it yet? Did Andy not tell it? "Guess not," he said, a giggle sneaking through. "Must've missed him. Guess I gotta hope I get lucky and get a look next time he shows up. *snrt*"

He had to wonder if Andy would spill the beans to the Rotomdex. Or anyone. Hideo sure wouldn't.

Hideo tilted his head back as Ruby Walker formally introduced someone new, Cardamom Bliss . She seemed nice enough on first impression. "Nice to meet you, Cardamom!" Hideo said after being introduced, raising a hand. "Don't mind Andy; I think he's just in a bad mood 'cause his Gengar didn't help him there."

It was easy to guess who Andy was admonishing a moment ago. "Plus, you know, it's gotta suck being stuck in casts like that."

Hideo took another spoonful of his sundae as Ruby went off to grab Eris Halla - who Hideo didn't even know was here until she said it.

"I met Ruby at a little Pokemon hunt Andy here set up. Us and a bunch of other kids went out to hunt for some rare Pokemon in the woods. I'll spare you the details-" mainly because details like "we found a pile of dead bodies" and "the Pokemon we found murdered its last trainer" were ones he wanted to forget "-but we did find one. Though, uh, that's also kinda why Andy here is all casted up."

Not to mention how many of the people that tried to rescue Andy also ended up in the hospital. No deaths, thankfully.

Of course since Ruby had invited the fellow youth, they were curious as to how both he and Hideo knew the Saint of Slateport. Andy recalled his first meeting technically was after getting a package from Galar. He hadn't thought anything else of it until the hospital when he had had time to think. Before the Type:Null incident, there was only the desire to get the show on the road.

that was the person she was looking for! mint frost was the one who had made the news with his instagram posts of groudon and stuff. she could use his help if he was willing. if not then that was fine as well. "hey! you're mint right? i wanted to talk to you about a project of mine if you're willing?" having other people promote pokemon that were endangered or need a little bit more love was what rangers did. at least she was taking it on herself to help and do it. mint was popular and cute and she was sure he would do great with it. especially with all the hype he had managed to drum up.

"You were right at the first guess," said Cardamom, nodding slightly. "My immediate family's lived in Unova for quite some time, but...after my grandma died, they finally decided it was time for a change in scenery. And we do have relatives here too." The sting of losing her grandma was far away enough now that she only paused slightly before picking up another scoop of ice cream to nibble on.[break][break]
She listened attentively to Hideo's story and Andy's additional clarification, nodding a little. "Hey, at least you found it," she said. "My big brother and I used to go on expeditions with Uncle Ryouta all the time back in Unova and most of the time it turned out there wasn't anything to find. I hope you got to rub it in at least one adult's face that you found something when they thought there wouldn't be anything?" But their honorary uncle could always stir up their excitement anyways, even if they did end up coming home late lots of times before that.

This felt wrong. So much chaos had been wrought, and he was sitting here meant to be enjoying himself. But he felt that after all they had been through, it would be rude of him to refuse the offer. Especially when it had come from one @giselle Authier whom Josh had relied on a fair bit for help during the incident itself. So the Ranger had made some time to attend, though it was far more casual than he would have imagined. Perhaps that was a good thing. Perhaps some sense of normalcy was needed in a time like this.

And his Pokemon deserved the break as well, after all that. Which was why he had brought along Lightning (Raichu), Fawkes (Charizard), Dunamus (Swampert) and Bastilo (Blastoise) who had all played their parts. Each wound up with a frozen confection, but the large size of most of this party all bunched up together trying to eat ice cream made for quite the humorous sight.

As he’s chatting up Aaron, he can’t help but perk up as he heard his own name. For a split second he thought it was possibly someone grabbing mint flavored ice cream, but when approached by the hostess herself he gave a gracious smile and a firm nod. “Yup! That’s me~” he said a little sing songy for the woman. [break][break]

He tilted his head as he ate another spoonful of ice cream before responding. “Yeah sounds fun! What…what kind of project were you thinking?” he asked, realizing he most likely did NOT have the qualifications for it. After all, he’d been pretty worthless during the whole Groudon thing. He was convinced half the reason he survived was due to falling in with Giselle instead.

"I've been noticing a lot of people moving to Hoenn," Hideo added to Cardamom Bliss . He could've swore he was meeting more people from other regions than people born and raised in Hoenn over the past year. "I hear things are pretty chaotic in other regions. Hoenn's kinda crazy too, but I guess we sorta have things under control here?" They were able to stop the Groudon's volcano eruption from causing any serious damage, and as far as he knew, nobody died trying to control things.

"Maybe they're coming for all the excitement." Just how many legendaries and mythical Pokemon made their home in Hoenn? Even the Alolan Tapus were popping up here. There was no telling what would show up next.

Hideo couldn't resist smirking a bit at Andy Blackadder 's protests. "Yeah, yeah," he said, waving Andy off, "The dog didn't hurt you. But you're all casted up now anyways. And even with all that stuff, you helped us calm Groudon down." Didn't want Andy to think he was getting mocked or anything. "I wonder how Doug's dealing with it now. Maybe it's calmed down now that it's with a trainer again?"

she seemed pleased that he was willing to give it a go, even if he didn't really know what she was planning on having him to do. but nonetheless she was pleased. "i was looking to get a project going on social media for typically less than loved and endangered pokemon. would that be something you're interested in?" she knew that he had already agreed but now knowing the project he might be less or more interested. "conservation is important and having a face like yours attached to it would be great! plus you're much more apt at that sort of thing than i am." she hadn't had social media back in galar and her first cell phone had been purchased here in hoenn. to say she was behind was an understatement really.
