He'd thought to take his former proteges for dinner in honour of their new promotions; it would be a good chance for them to relax after the stress of the raid, a breath of fresh air away from the burden of their new responsibilities.

Shame the cafe he'd found on a restaurant app appears to be in equal need of help.

'String' the Meowth shoves barista uniforms toward them, and Gavin gives a small shrug and a soft laugh.

"Think of it as a bonding exercise," he smirks.

Chu-e Choi was clearly having an influence on him.

Shortly thereafter, Gavin's Accelgor poises itself to seal a Scorbunny Sandwich with it's STICKY HOLD as his Florges positions ingredients with her VINE WHIP.

FLORGES uses VINE WHIP.

Serena had been promised food. That's why she was here. Free food at that. She wasn't really in the festive mood otherwise. But for the food she would make an exception. She had been walking a strange line between staving herself in her misery or drowning herself with food in her melancholy. She honestly didn't know what to do with herself, it seemed she was in a hungry mood. [break][break]

Walking around the food stalls she followed her group of fellow Beasts and their chaperone around while her nose caught the scent of something delicious. Making a stop in front of the stand she fowned upon seeing the stall owner, a Meowth, named 'String'. String flashed it's big doe eyes at them before shoving barista uniforms in their hands. [break][break]

"Think of it as a bonding exercise," Gavin said with a chuckle while Serena held onto her uniform, blinking in surprise. [break][break]

"You've got to be kitten me..." she muttered to herself before catching the annoyed glare from their 'boss'. "Sorry, it was free. Had to take it." she said with a shrug as she quickly headed to the back to get changed. [break][break]

Fastening her black apron around her waist she rolled up her sleeves and began to get to work. Now when it came to cuisine she considered herself somewhat of a savant, however, drink making? She wasn't too practiced in this area. Glancing over at the purrloin on the counter beside her she felt her heart ache. [break][break]

Inhaling deeply she reminded herself not to focus on the obvious and to not compare, that would be what led her to trouble after all. "Let's get crackin'" she said with a small smirk to the purrloin as it mewled in response happily. Together they began to work on the Eevee Latte, Serena went to work whipping up the cream while the purrloin used UNBURDEN to help speed everything along.

    “Bonding exercise, right.” Rowan exhaled with amusement, slipping the apron over his torso and fastening the ties in the back. “Not exactly the outing I expected with people of our...renown.” With Rocket he was more used to bloodbaths than bakeries, but he was glad to have a reprieve from the violence.

    “Azurill, can you fill up these cups?” The diminutive Pokémon happily hopped across the counter, utilizing Water Gun to begin the process of creating the Eevee Latte, whatever that was. “Eden, you mind helping him with those sandwiches?”

    The Roselia bounced into action, using their Sweet Scent to unlock hidden flavors and aromas within the Scorbunny Sandwich. “Why do all of these dishes have to rhyme?”

[break][break] jayden stands by his fellow beasts and mentor, dressed in the same barista attire as the rest of them. his sleeves are rolled up quarter-length, an apron wrapped around his waist. it reminds him eerily of his shifts at that cafe in mossdeep that he used to work — in fact, a lot of this reminds him of that time.

[break][break] he stays quiet as the others mingle with each other, the pun of Serena Malcolm going completely over his head. he busies himself with writing down the orders of their customers.

[break][break] it's fortunate they get a eevee latte as their order, since jayden's used to making those for patrons. his torchic ends up using ember to burn the caramel, and jayden carefully - meticulously - pours the milk over the beverage in some latte art.

No sooner have they completed the first order than a second rolls in.

Gavin picks up a knife with the intention to start chopping, then frowns at the dulled blade. His switchblade would cut better than this thing!

"Rowan, can you sharpen this?"

He flips it in his hand to offer it handle-first to Rowan Wrynn.

"Serena, can you fill this? We can get the machine." He hands her the cup for the Swablu Shaved Ice. "Jayden, you're better at this barista shit than I am, you tell my Pokemon what to do."

With orders administered to jayden cross and Serena Malcolm, Gavin releases a Blissey and a Dewgong into the kitchen. With proper instruction from Jayden, the Dewgong would deliver a concentrated ICE BEAM into the ice machine. A SWEET KISS from Blissey would top off the drink; Gavin's not sure why, but he's only following instructions, here.

DEWGONG uses ICE BEAM.
BLISSEY uses SWEET KISS.

Things were going smoothly so far. Then again, it was late and she wasn't really expecting anything too difficult. Normal people would be heading home right? Wrapping up their activities as the festival winded down. Except for the few night owls that would grace the stalls in their final moments. [break][break]

"Sure thing," she responded to Gavin. [break][break]

Sera wasn't sure how to help best with these next orders, luckily all she needed to do was follow instructions, which Gavin gave. Taking hold of the cup, as soon as the machine was prepped she'd fill the cup with the Swablu Shaved Ice in a presentable way. Hell, she was pretty proud of how it turned out, giving it a once over before handing it over to have the finishing touches applied before sending it to it's expectant customer.

“Uhm, sure.” Rowan reached out and took the knife, unsure of how to even begin about sharpening the blade. “One second.” There was at least one Pokémon he knew was able to get the edge to a more usable state, Porygon. “Think you can handle it?” Rowan asked as the Porygon was released from their Pokeball, only receiving a series of beeps in return. “Is that a yes?”

Porygon only needed a few seconds to use Sharpen, creating a more fine edge that could easily slice through anything they needed cut. “Walrein can you help out with the shaved ice?” With a confident bark, Walrein released a Powder Snow to help create the perfect consistency for the frozen treat.

It's only expected that Cillian Quinn takes charge and Jayden's more than content. After all, he's good at following orders -- food service should be no different.

"Sure," he consents, looking at the order. Shaved Ice wasn't quite batista work but how hard could it be, right?

"Iris," he says, calling his Vaporeon forth. "Keep the machine cold. " Alongside his mentors Dewgong and Rowan's Walrein, he instructs his water type to send a concentrated AURORA BEAM into the ice machine.

Meanwhile he turns to the second item on the menu, another Scorbunny Sandwich. This time he releases his newly caught Lurantis, the pokemon using a swift LEAFAGE to finish off the order.

"Cupcakes? Oh, my Alcremie loves stuff like this."

The pink love ball looks out of place among Gavin's uniform collection of luxury balls, perhaps a hint toward the fact that he wasn't this Alcremie's original owner. But the rainbow-creamed fairy-type adorned with clover-shaped mints seems delighted upon being released into the cafe.

He doesn't even need to ask her before she's DECORATING the baked goods. His Riolu provides an eager HELPING HAND.

A young Houndour is sent out to babysit the oven, its reputation as an EARLY BIRD making it ideal as a guard dog. It barks once the meat has finished cooking, no doubt startling poor String out of his apron.

ALCREMIE uses DECORATE.
RIOLU uses HELPING HAND.
HOUNDOUR has EARLY BIRD.

“Alright, we need some lettuce for these burgers.” Searching around for a few minutes would only produce an entire head, and Rowan had practically no idea how to shred the lettuce himself. “Medli, you’re up!” He tossed the head of lettuce towards his Psyduck, watching as the Pokémon used Fury Swipes to rend the vegetable into usable strips over a bowl. “Nice job!”

Now to help out Gavin with the cupcakes, which would be the perfect job for Wonder. The Galarian Ponyta was released from their Pokeball, setting their sights on the Alcremie working on decorating the cupcakes. A precise use of Fairy Wind scattered an enchanting spread of sprinkles over the deserts.

Finally something Serena could work on that she was used to. Drinks weren't really her specialty anyway. Working on cooking the burgers she felt at ease. The purrloin beside her was motivated now too as it perked up. "You excited too? Then let's do a good job," she said with a smile towards the little purrloin. She meow'd happily and used HONE CLAWS to help Serena's process be a little more efficient. [break][break]

Especially since orders were starting to regularly poor in now. Once the meat was done she plated them on the buns and handed them off to the rest for them to continue to dress the Sneasel burgers. "Good work buddy." she encouraged the purrloin who purred happily beside her.

[attr="class","jayden"] unlike how Serena Malcolm feels, jayden feels the quite opposite. drinks are something that he's familiar with, and in fact baking is an even more familiar category for him. he's happy to see the cupcakes on the menu, and does his best with assisting, though he's fairly sure his other team members have gotten it handled.

as he's whipping up some eggs for the batter, he releases his eelektross. "aurelus," he says, shifting to his fellow beast. "help serena with the burgers." with her assistance, the pokemon uses flamethrower to scorch the meat, allowing her to place them in buns for service.

A frustrated hiss from String alerts Gavin to—

"Coffee machine's jammed. Guess we'll have to do this shit some other way 'til it's fixed."

He frowns, stumped for a moment before producing one of his luxury balls. A shiny Klinklang is released; if it's irritated by the thought of coffee beans being fed through its GEARS to GRIND them down, it's impossible to tell.

It works like a charm, at least!

It was starting to get hot back here in the kitchen, especially with the orders continuously streaming in. She thought that since it was late not that many people would visit, but it seemed she was mistaken. Fanning herself with her hand, another order was called in and she decided to focus on that. Maybe in a bit she'd find a moment to sneak to the front and cool off in front of the fan. [break][break]

An order for a Cheesy Rowlet Pizza came up and she nodded as she gave a quick glance over at the recipe. It didn't seem to hard, especially now that she was in the groove after completely a few orders before this. She quickly called forth her Larvesta and nodded towards the oven. "Alright buddy your turn." she said with a grin, "Heat this puppy up. FLAME WHEEL." she said after a moment before her eyes widened, "Uhh...that one was unintentional" she said with a sheepish grin. [break][break]

She wasn't sure where these animal jokes were coming from, but be assured no puppy was harmed in the completing of this order![break][break]
