Adrian lies at the summit of Mt. Pyre alongside Rowan, largely undisturbed for the moment. They were looking up at the stars, despite how small and insecure it made him feel at times to stare directly into the celestials hanging over them. With his hands clutched together at his chest, he spoke softly at first: "I think that one's Ursaring Major."

Rowan might've been able to set him straight, though it mattered little to Adrian; he could paint anything with the stars as a canvas if he was crafty enough, and the lack of light pollution in such a remote place allowed them to shine through all the brighter, allowing one to draw on many stars. He wondered what Rowan saw in them.

"Which ones can you see?" He adjusts to his side, facing Rowan and admiring them while they list off the details...

“You can see those? All I see is a bunch of stars.” Rowan squinted as he stared up towards the evening sky, attempting to discover some meaningful patterns of his own. “I mean, that one kind of looks like an Avalugg.” He pointed towards a cluster of stars that vaguely resembled the Iceberg Pokémon, though wasn’t entirely convincing.

“Sorry.” Rowan chuckled with slight embarrassment, resting his head against the grass once more. “I’m pretty terrible at this.” He admitted, crimson dancing lightly on his cheeks.

"Yeah?" It was something he liked to do when they were staying away from Jubilife City, or when he'd gone hiking up Mt. Coronet in Sinnoh. Adrian is quick to bark at Rowan in disagreement when he ridicules himself. "Stop talking like that, or I'll punch you, and these fists are lethal," he reminded them, though he tried to keep it light-hearted.

Reaching over and grasping at Rowan by the cuff of his sleeve, he guides their finger towards each of the stars he's talking about: "If you start here... and follow the northern star, and then..." After a winded explanation and little to no comprehension, he finished: "...You can see a Munna. Or an Avalugg," he admitted with a shrill chuckle.

He turns over to offer a starlit smile before averting his gaze back to the sky when he suddenly blurts: "Uhm... Is it me, or does the moon look really lumpy tonight, Row?"

    “I’m not allowed to self-deprecate now?” Rowan let out a slight huff, though he was obviously attempting to be humorous. “I don’t know what else to talk about then, that’s all the material I have.” A teasing smirk crawled over his lips, turning his head to glance into Adrian’s eyes for a moment, able to see the stars reflected within them. “Alright, I’ll try to follow.” There was a few minutes where recognition escaped him, until Adrian took the liberty of physically guiding him towards the constellation. “Ohhhh…”

    Attention was drawn to the moon now, or more accurately what Adrian had mistaken for the moon. “Babe, that’s a Lunatone.” Rowan cackled softly at the misunderstanding, slipping a hand into his bag to retrieve one of his spare Pokeballs. “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of this.” A confident toss preceded his attempt to capture this Pokémon, before returning his focus to the night sky.

    “Okay Galileo, what else do you see?”

Adrian rolled his eyes at Rowan's remark. Maybe he'd come off a tad overbearing. "Well, over there, if you connect those stars in the East, near Lilycove, I can see... A hood... One eye... Duskull." It wasn't exactly perfect.

While the two of them are enjoying themselves, he feels something tugging at his hair. "Hmm?" He cranes his neck expecting to find Rowan picking at loose strands, but instead sees a Ralts. "We've got a visitor," he explains before gently plucking the pokemon and holding it suspended overhead, appraising it before setting it down between them, where it nuzzled closer to them.

"Welcome to vibes n' chill," he explains to it before relinquishing his grip. For a moment it seems dumbfounded, but then takes a seat, its strange horn scrunching up as it attuned to their emotions. He bumps Rowan with his shoulder, eyes flicking to it.

"Think I should catch it?"

It seemed like it was happy to be near them.

Battling it would be cruel, so he allowed it to cozy up to them, and when it nuzzled a little too close to Adrian it would have its health tapped. Eventually it would tire and fall unconscious, into what it would perceive as sleep, until Adrian tucked it away into a pokeball for safekeeping.

So that it wouldn't die in his embrace.

“Huh.” Rowan squinted his eyes and attempted to follow their direction, needing a few moments before drawing the mental outline of the Duskull. “Oh, yeah. I see it!” A genuine excitement came over him as he identified the constellation, the smile across his face more than enough evidence of that. “I’ve never really star-gazed before, believe it or not.”

There was too much light pollution in Wyndon to see the night sky for the beauty that it was, especially since he wasn’t allowed to leave their home, let alone the entire city. “I’ve always looked towards the ocean for guidance and inspiration, instead.” How he would have given anything to be one of the Sharpedo or Wailord he’d seen from a distance when he was confined to his room.

"Really? It creeps me out, actually." Much like the vastness of deep space, the unknowable depths of any abyss unnerved Adrian. Still, he could understand what Rowan was saying, and on nights like these the ocean's surface reflected the stars hanging overhead.

"We could go diving near Pacifidlog some day, if you want." Adrian continued searching through the stars, making out a Hypno's pendulum and the puckered lips of a Smoochum when he tried really, really hard. Not the sorts of things he'd like to see in the stars, though.

“You think the ocean is creepy?” Rowan cocked an eyebrow, more amused than offended by the notion. “Isn’t one of your main Pokémon a Gyarados?” He personally didn’t find anything disturbing about the ocean, knowing there was nothing down there except for the Pokémon he’d been devoting his time to protecting. Even ones like Sharpedo weren’t aggressive towards humans unless there was a good reason.

“I’d like that.” Being able to share in the world he chose with Adrian would be nice, especially since the other could finally see him at his most comfortable. “I’ll show you where this school of Feebas has been making their home. They had to be relocated after the excursion in the Seafloor Cavern, but they’re doing better now.” A smile crossed his lips as he looked towards the sky, getting better at seeing the patterns in the stars.

"I fished Furor out of a pond near Rustboro..." Though he tried to give it opportunities of freedom out in the deep blue, it wasn't where he normally left it. In fact, it spent more time on land than not, he figured. "And yeah, I just don't like how dark it is." Adrian wasn't particularly fond of that, either. Did Adrian like anything?

Well, he seemed to like Rowan enough. While they're discussing their favorite and least favorite things, an alternate color Slowbro approached them, sitting down by their feet and staring at them dumbly. Adrian only noticed it when he kicked his foot against something pudgy. After looking down, he couldn't believe his luck.

"No way, that's awesome," He thought of standing up, but realized where they were and decided to try something else. Giving a whistle, he called out: "Hey Runerigrus: Mind softening this guy up for me?" Two grizzled ghouls erupted from the masonry of a makeshift shrine, enveloping the pokemon in their tenebrous forms. When they finally dispersed, Slowbro looked desiccated.

"Heh, sorry bud. Why don't ya get in the ball?"

He figured it would fall in line after that.

A small laugh erupted from Rowan as Adrian explained himself. “You mean, darker than the bloody night sky?” Perhaps the moonlight was enough to illuminate the darkness for Adrian, but Rowan didn’t see much of a difference. “I usually bring my Chinchou down with me when I go too deep, Luma keeps things nice and bright.” He explained.

Rowan was curious what other things Adrian didn’t appreciate about the ocean, but the conversation was unceremoniously interrupted by the arrival of Shiny Slowbro. “What are you doing all the way up here, big guy?” This wasn’t the natural habitat of these Pokémon, but they were also known for being absent minded and thus prone to getting lost. Before he’d had a chance to interact with the Slowbro, Adrian moved in with Runegris and captured them, offering a small shrug. “Oh look, that ones a Meditite.”
