Adrian shuffles through the groaning corridors of the submarine, his hastened gait quickly availing him to a shuttle door marked with the designation laboratories. This must be it. If it wasn't, they would know where to point him. Tension builds in his chest until he uncoils it with an exasperated sigh, raising a balled fist and knocking not once, not twice, but thrice over. Pushing through the portcullis, he finds himself admist a daunting array of crucibles and equipment.[break][break]

"Lulu?" Adrian takes a cautious step forward. "It's Adrian," he informs her, hoping to find her in good spirits. She was, he'd only recently found out, related by blood to Rowan. Although such revelations were dizzying and fraught with suspicion, he hoped it might help him to curry further favor with the scientist.[break][break]

Or at least keep her from treating him like any other lab rat.[break][break]

"Is now a bad time?" It seemed she was entertaining a guest.

Lulu wouldn’t have recommended it if she’d not been in her position, on the safe side of the gun so to speak. Her motto really was trust no one.

She looked up at the sound of her name, away from the face of Raphael Pryde , with whom she’d barely been able to start a conversation with yet. While she might’ve been a bit annoyed by an interruption, this one in particular looked like an opportunity.

“No Adrian, not at all. Come in.”

A Houndoom named Djall slept heavily on the floor, giving the occasional growl and twitch of the leg. Every once in a while, a small whisp of flame would puff from his muzzled mouth.

Her eyes shifted briefly to her colleague, and then back to Adrian. She wouldn’t say anything—not yet. If their first interaction was any clue, Adrian wasn’t exactly comfortable just talking to whoever about his powers.

Hopefully, though, that was why he was here.

“What can I help you with?”

Well this was annoying. Pryde can't help but think to himself but his expression doesn't give away anything. Instead he is looking at his tablet while Subject two was staring at his fellow Head Scientist. A special helmet on his head that fed exactly what the lucario saw onto his screen. He wanted to originally meet with her in order to understand what was it was the Lucario could see the difference between when the Darkrai avatar was using her abilities and wasn't. He had chosen this time because most of the others weren't working, and thus should've been the time in where they could get proper work done.

But private time will have to come later. [break][break]

Especially as Lulu goes to open the door and reveals a familiar face. Ah so Mr. Malcom was one of theirs too. For now he has his tablet continuing to record and subject two was to watch. "Well if it isn't the young man from the tournament," Pryde welcomes as he gives a friendly smile, that over shadowed his annoyance at their coming in. He chooses to continue to play nice. "What brings you in at such an hour?"

He allows himself to enter the room, a slouch in his shoulders as he sluggishly trudged forward. Adrian liked to keep things close to the chest, but he supposed if he needed help, that meant opening up a little. With a hitched breath and a moment's hesitation, he eventually cuts in.[break][break]

"It's about my condition. I think it's gotten worse." He wanted to move on with testing. Though he wasn't familiar with any way to look under the hood of someone's aura, so to speak, he knew they existed. That meant, to an extent, they were... malleable. Subject to interaction with their environment. Lulu's study of infinity energy may yield some relevance, or so he hoped, though he was hardly the intellectual among them. He squints at the man before offering a response.[break][break]

"...Pryde, right? I'm here to see Lulu..." His squint deepens, eyeing their headpiece.[break][break]

"...What the heck is that you're wearing?" If nothing else, it looked expensive.

Hm. That’s not good.

She thought briefly of FERNANDO SILPH , and his warnings. Unfortunately, Adrian’s power, like her own insomnia, was something he couldn’t just turn off.

His squint was noted. Glare or bad eyesight? He was a guarded and secretive person—she could tell this much from their first interaction. Pryde must’ve been an uncomfortable presence, but Adrian’s acknowledgement of him felt as though it bordered on the rude side.

She flashed a small, brief smile. “You’ve seen me.”

Pryde could help, and maybe Adrian would realize that without her input. She sat back, hands clasped in her lap and attention turning to the aura specialist.

The slouch the other walks in with, the way his eyes squint at him. These small actions alone tell a story, with a 'condition' being mentioned he's curious as to what he means. Honestly if the other's name wasn't so familiar he would have just dismissed at as just just that a sickness and then scold the two for not going to a medical doctor. Not scientist. Though seeing as he came to Lulu and not their medic had it's own story his line of logic read into. [break][break]

But it seems his presence was a problem with it all. "Head Scientist, Raphael Pryde in fact," he introduces himself properly this time as the other would've learned of him only through his fake name. Not only that but he hopes his sharing the title with Lulu makes it clear that he could actually help just as much as her. [break][break]

At the device he mentions he looks to his Lucario. "A device to allow me to see who he sees," he comments as he turns the tablet toward Adrian. On the screen he would see their Lucario looking at them, and the aura around Adrian that subject 2 was seeing.

[attr=class,bulk]He might've wanted to respond to Lulu's brand of wit, but found himself backpedaling in spite of Head Scientist Raphael Pryde's presence. Trust was an issue he'd spoken at lengths to Rowan about; it had taken a great deal of time even to trust Lulu. He hadn't even entirely come to place confidence in Gavin, and they were the one who'd thought to bring him into their fold.
Raphael would've been a nobody, except they'd battled during the Hoenn Star Tournament, so at least they were acquainted. Somewhat.[break][break]

"I can come back another time," he raises his hands to try and dismiss the current string of comments, but Raphael gains unique insight into Adrian's condition when Subject #2 observes him. What Raphael should've been met with, was the ordinary aura of a human being in the shape and size of one Adrian Malcolm... (seen below)[break][break]

...But instead he is met with a twisted inversion, something that can't be accounted for by the artifacting of a faulty digital transmission or the byproduct of a faulty prototype. What he is seeing in real time is the mechanism by which Adrian has been attributed Yveltal's power, but also the corrupting influence that has overridden it, causing him to sap life from anything he touches. It might've bordered on fascinating...[break][break]

adrian still seemed only increasingly uncomfortable by the second. at her colleague’s correction, lulu pressed a tight smile and then looked back over to the avatar in the doorway, saying nothing. stickler for titles, maybe?

“adrian, before you go, i should tell you: i’m not the expert here. the questions i’m sure you have would be better answered by dr. pryde.”

With Adrian still in the room subject two was able to compose themselves only for so long. Though with what they were seeing with this human's avatar made them nervous. Enough where they were tensed up and shifts their position into something almost defensive. They weren't sure what was wrong, but with the odd aura it made the subject uncomfortable. [break][break]

Raphael however found it interesting. [break][break]

Though it seems like trying to reassure the other of skill wasn't going to work as it seemed they still wanted to leave. "Are you sure you want to leave? Your aura is almost... monstrous," there were other words he could use but he does what he can so be simple. "There is almost a similar shift from when I recorded Lulu try a few things, but it doesn't usually stay like it seems to be with you, is that the problem?"

[attr=class,bulk]Grabbing at his elbow and rubbing it in an obvious nervous tic, Adrian struggles between two impulses. Like a wounded animal he wants only to be alone with his problems, lest he add to them, but these two offer options. Possibly even help. As they continue speaking with him, he's able to suppress the unease, shifting himself back to continue deeper into the room.[break][break]

"It doesn't stop. It never stops." Exasperation is clear in his tone and there's a languishing look in his eyes as he pads over to them, curious as to what is precisely Raphael's sphere of study. Like Raphael, he knew auras exhibited changes in avatars, and that might mean they flared up when they invoked their avatar powers... What else could he offer, other than observation?[break][break]

"It... Anything I touch dies. Slowly—he assures them it's nothing that they need fear directly—But the symptoms are sharp, immediate. Fatigue, discomfort and malaise..." His arms wrap around himself in a pitiful embrace. It has ostracized him from others, gutting any intimacy he might've had with people or his pokemon.[break][break]

"It's been weeks, maybe months." He wasn't too sure, but no matter the discrepancy, they are sure to be sympathetic to his difficulties. "Can you help me?"[break][break]

He stares hopefully at Raphael.

she noted adrian’s discomfort still, eyes falling to his elbows briefly and then back up with a small, but reassuring smile—genuine. they had more than one thing in common, but this… the not being able to shut it off part; maybe the insomnia wasn’t on the same level, but it was something lonely to live through. to wonder about, when no one had the answers.

at the list of symptoms, she recalled the day in the cafeteria that she’d felt yveltal’s power through adrian, but she said nothing of the occurrence—at least not to pryde. adrian didn’t need to seem like a threat to pryde, and lulu didn’t need to seem like the type to throw adrian under the bus. not here, not now.

her eyes only shifted towards pryde wordlessly, in turn.

Raphael makes note of the nervous twitch of the other with how he rubs his elbow. For now showing patience as he does want Adrian to eventually trust him. He knows he is still technically 'new' and thus most won't have the same thing his co-worker Lulu Flint has, but he can work toward it for now. [break][break]

The scientist giving a hum of thought as Adrian comments about how it never turns off. Questions going off in his head if it were just because he couldn't control it, the nature of his relationship with his patron, or maybe a punishment by said legend? Its almost pitiful with the way the other closes in on himself, but should Adrian allow it, he would attempt to provide some semblance of comfort. [break][break]

He would walk up close enough to pat the other on the shoulder with his robotic arm, in a way to show that the absorption probably wouldn't be so easily effective. But Raphael even makes sure to add a smile to try and comfort the other. "I believe we might have something that could help, but there are no certainty, would you be willing to try it?" he questions seeing this as possibly a perfect way to kill to birds with one stone.

[attr=class,bulk]At first he's surprised to see Pryde unafflicted by even the faintest touch, but he quickly realizes it to be a prosthetic. But even so it helps him to feel less like fodder or cattle to be poked and prodded for their research, and more the sentient being capable of empathy and compassion. Still, he has his reservations.[break][break]

"Like a treatment, or...?" There were many things they could do, he was certain, but what had any evidence of working? How often did one get the opportunity to conduct research on such a condition, after all? Still, despite his skepticism, he was eager to try something that might work rather than resign to this condition indefinitely.[break][break]

"...Will there be pain?"[break][break]

It seems to be one of his greatest aversions by the look of his face.

The scientist gives a bit of a so-so motion. "An experiment at best right now as sadly its not something that we can just pull out on a whim," he gives the bad news, his tone clear though that he would hate to do it. Well seemed like he would be bothered by doing it at least, and act that he had long since gotten down to the 'T.'[break][break]

"It could hurt yes," well it most definitely would be Pryde would be the hopeful line for now. "However I can tell you now that there is probably no other solution to this, though if you want to be able to feel something outside the touch of a man with a prosthetic arm because you fear your power then you'll be stuck forever.
