Ji-Ji let out a heavy sigh as they finally landed on the outskirts of Rustboro.

“You’re outta practice bud,” Locke consoled their dragon. They’d been so busy training up all of their newer Pokémon, the poor Drampa had ended up being somewhat neglected. A small outing like this was the least he deserved by now.

The warm-up flight had been necessary though, given their plans for the day. An ad had been put out for some help looking for rare Pokémon along this route, and while it wasn’t Locke’s usual thing, it seemed like a nice way to get the elderly dragon back into shape.

Locke slid off Ji-Ji’s back and started working at the buckles of the saddle. The Drampa made a relieved noise as it dropped to the ground, stretching his wings out wide while his trainer packed it away before the others arrived.

Paxton sighed through his nose, waiting by the meeting spot that ad had mentioned. Something about wanting to look for find rare pokemon for someone? He was still on his forced vacation and due to that he had a bit of energy built up after all that down time. He was used to maybe a day or two of rest but 5 days now? And he wasn’t even halfway done with his accumulated leave time! Whatever the case, tracking pokemon would be good for him. Nature always seemed to soothe him when his brain was jittery. [break][break]

Joule floated near him, eyes shut before suddenly it began beeping quickly. The beeps were easy to read, something had moved in close by “Probably our coworkers for the day.” he assured the dual type before following it towards the source of the noise. Joule beeped once more, this time at Locke Jamison and their partner. Paxton paused before offering a small wave. “Hey. Nice t’see you again.” He said, a little less formal than the tone he’d taken during their bonfire meeting.

Nora arrived at the meeting place riding aback with her glittery Rapidash. The two of them must look rather majestic and cute right about now. Nora was quite excited not to only make some new friends in pokemon but also with humans! Since she joined team rocket, she struggled to make friends within the group, so going outside her comfort zone will hopefully improve her chances.

While riding down the route, she spotted two men, and Nora waved them down as she rode in on her Rapidash with a grin on her face. She jumped off her Rapidash and introduced herself loudly to the two of them. "Greetings to both of you! I'm Nora Heroux. Nice to meet you!" Nora spoke with a rush of nostalgia coursing through her veins as she finally got to meet new people.

Locke recognized that cute charm immediately. “Oh! Paxton, right?” He extended his hand out to the other man while Ji-Ji gave his Magnezone a bright smile.

They were joined by a third party member soon enough, and the stark contrast between the towering woman and her steed was enough to make Locke pause before greeting the newcomer. “Er, hello! I’m Locke. Are you…here to catch Pokémon too?” They asked as they reached out to Nora for a tentative handshake as well.

“Lock, right? From that night with the bonfire?” Paxton replied, slipping a hand easily into theirs. He smiled easily, happy to remember a name for once that wasn’t one of his coworkers. The Magnezone beeped cheerfully at the Drampa, moving to the side to hang out with it. The blonde turned his attention to the third person in their party, nodding at the taller woman. “Good to meet’ya Nora.” [break][break]

He glanced at their surroundings before nodding over at Locke. “I’m looking around for some specific pokemon, but who knows if we’ll manage to find them. Still good exercise though.” He said as Joules seemed to float up and down a few times in agreement. He walked a Meditite rush by, chasing a butterfly but held fast. It dind’t turn to attack them. “I don’t tend to run into a lot of people out in the woods though. Could be a nice change of pace.” He added. He was more of a ‘fuck off on your own’ type of guy.

”Haa tell me about it, most of the time I’m stuck running from wild Pokémon on my own out here,” he sighed. “It’s nice to have a little back up for once!”

The Magnezone beeped quickly, in a high pitch. It sounded lie ka slight protest. He gave the Drampa a nod. “Nice t’meet ya Jiji.” He said. Locke’s words pull a small smile out of the blonde. “Must be hard running around, especially this close to the holidays.” He said having sort of gotten an inkling form the bonfire what Locke went up to. “You had that whole pack of Delibirds at the bonfire, right? They’re a that one postal service’s staple?” he added in case he was making a bad assumption. But he was pretty sure Locke Jamison was related in some way to that mailing service. [break][break]

He watched idly a Baltoy float by, nodding at it when it sense the pair before rushing off. It moved quickly past a Vigoroth that was napping in one of the nearby trees. Cute. But not what he’s looking for. “I’d say maybe not, but within the niche of people that know you, you’re incredibly popular.” Paxton said with a smile. And how could they not be? What was cuter than the Present Pokemon themselves handing you your mail. Though, he doubted it was always the Delibirds that did the work. “Well, it’s nice to travel, ain’t it?” he asked with a tilt of his head. “Oh, nothing as excitin’ as you.” He said with a snort. “I work for the Lillycove City PD, as a beat cop. Long hours, but the people are nice enough.” The work was easy to. He a lot of paperwork that he was already used to filling in.

Locke fully flushed at that, unprepared to hear of his own popularity like that. He’d always felt as though he didn’t stand out that much, so it was strange to be told otherwise by a near-stranger. He could only give a shy hum of agreement before the topic mercifully shifted away from himself.
